Teresa and Bill are lovely and the Fairbanks House full of rich history. As I walked through town I saw it interwoven throughout; I felt like I had become a part of its history as well! My room was comfortable and the breakfasts were delicious. The claw tub made for a nice bath and the kitchenette was a great place to make a protein shake and store my fresh fruit and veggies.

I sent my Mom and Dad to the Fairbanks House a couple of years ago for their anniversary, and was happy that I got to meet my Mom there a few years later for a girl's weekend and check it out myself. The house is huge and the public rooms feel open and welcoming. We stayed in the Tapestry Room on the second floor. It was beautiful with a very large bathroom (with window seat) that had a fireplace and huge tub. The bed was a comfortable king. They have an in-ground pool, but it was too cool for swimming when we were there. They also have plenty of tables/chairs around the pool, as well as a gazebo with seating. The breakfasts there were wonderful. You can sit indoors with other guests, or outside alone. Every morning there was a light starter (fruit, yogurt) followed by the main course (pumpkin pancakes, quiche, etc.). There is a wide selection of juices, as well as coffee, tea, or hot chocolate. I could never finish my breakfast. It was all delicious. In the evenings there is a social hour. This is a time to meet your fellow guests and have a couple of small nibbles and a drink or two. They offered us soda, water, beer, wine, or this sweet frozen slushie concoction that was delicious. The three nights we were there, the nibbles were: sausage & garlic bread, sauteed shrimp & crackers and cheese spread, crackers and cheese spread and puff pastry. I'm saving the best for last, and that would be the hosts. Theresa and Bill were the best hosts I've had at a B&B. They were very professional, but also a lot of fun to talk to (especially Theresa - she's a spitfire!). They had great recommendations and were extremely helpful. They take pride in their house, as they should, because they've done a wonderful job with it. Do yourself a favor and spend a weekend at the Fairbanks.

This. This is where you want to stay when you come to Amelia. It has everything you could possibly want in a stay. It has beautiful period details like 14 foot ceilings, heart pine floors and claw foot tubs, along with modern amenities like flat screen TV's, iPhone docking stations and a pool. The hosts, Bill and Theresa, are warm and funny, know everything about the area, and have thought of everything you might need for your stay. The breakfasts are top notch. We had pumpkin pancakes, quiche, and a bananas foster French toast that would make you slap your momma (not that we condone this). By the end of your stay, you aren't checking out, you are saying goodbye to friends.

We absolutely loved our stay at The Fairbanks House in Amelia Island, FL! Everything from the management and hospitality right down to the location of the Inn. Theresa and Bill were so personable and helpful, and extremely accommodating. Her cooking is wonderful! We received a weekend getaway "Romance Package" for our wedding last year and just redeemed it this past weekend (It's unfortunate it took us a year to redeem). I would recommend checking out the packages Fairbanks House offers. Stay here if you get the chance - you won't regret it!

I want to give the Fairbanks house 3.5 stars, but since I can't, I'll round up to 4. We received a gift certificate to Fairbanks house for Christmas last year, and finally made it up that way to celebrate our belated anniversary. We arrived and were promptly greeted by Bill and Theresa, who as other have mentioned, are very warm and kind. Bill took us to our upgraded private cabin, and we were looking forward to a nice, comfortable and relaxing weekend. The cabin looked/felt and smelled like you were walking into your great aunt's house. The decor was very dusty and outdated, we found a few random things like someone's hair tie that was left, a receipt under the living room coffee table, a few random hairs on the blanket on the bed, and a dead bug here and there. I was really too tired to care. That being out there... it was still a comfortable stay. The kitchenette was nice to chill the beer and snacks we brought along... and a one cup coffee maker to get us going in the morning. The sheets were super soft and clean, and the jacuzzi tub (although we really didn't take advantage of it), was a nice touch. (The makeup remover wipes, which they encouraged us to use in place of washcloths made my face break out pretty severally, so if you have sensitive skin, I'd recommend bringing one from home.) There were too many restaurants we wanted to check out on the island, so we didn't take advantage of the breakfast or social hour... and we really just wanted some time alone, in peace, anyway. What this place does feature over maybe some other places in the area: A SWIMMING POOL. We did get out to chill by the pool for one afternoon and it was very nice. It's only a few blocks from most of the island action. They do have bikes, backpacks and coolers you can use, but my feet were hurting so bad, we decided not to take advantage of them. We had no problems hooking up our computer to the flat screen TV to have our own Netflix marathon. (Adam guessed the password to the wifi on the first try.) And IT WAS SO INCREDIBLY QUIET. I slept like a baby for about 12 hours straight. If B&B's are your thing, you would probably really love this place. I admittedly, am not the biggest B&B fan (I prefer a little bit more anonymity and updated-modern sleekness) so you might want to take this review with a grain of salt.
