Outstanding food!!! Cute little place tucked away in the TSC shopping plaza. Only six booths and two tables, very cozy. Good beer selection and warm, attentive service. But the real star here is the food! Fresh ingredients, great sauces, and very vegetarian friendly. Highly recommended, the best Mexican food we have found in Central Florida. The chef/owner says she cooks with love, and, believe me, you can taste it!

I've been visiting El Korita for years and will continue to do so. Everyone who gives this place poor reviews is absolutely nuts. This is the best authentic Mexican restaurant in Lake County, and maybe even all of central Florida. Their guacamole is the BEST! Lorena's chicken soup is a must-have. I always grab the chicken chimi-flautas but honestly, I've never had a bad meal from El Korita. Seriously - can't give this place enough stars!

Great service, great food, great folks that run this place. Their food is not warmed-over or microwaved -- it's prepared to suit. The "hotness scale" is real, so be careful what you ask for!

Everything we had was delicious. The tamales were a favorite (spicy!). Family atmosphere, nothing fancy but good prices. Seems like it is family run. Themed decor, booths and tables (pizza parlor setup). Everything was cooked fresh, all natural ingredients according to a sign. Vegetarian options. Fun!

Had eaten there frequently 2 years ago and loved it. Ate there today and my wet burrito was gross. No flavor at all. My husband got chicken tacos and the tortillas were nasty. When he went up to pay he saw in her cooking are the tortillas she was using 'Great Value' tortillas so no wonder. Three taco lunch was around $8-$9 and there could not even have been an ounce of chicken in each one. The didn't have corn tortillas nor did they have steak which is what we went for. The wet burrito which used to be amazing with a fresh made tomato, onion, cilantro and fresh hers sauce which made it 'wet' is no longer served and the 'wet' now tastes like a nasty dollar store sauce. To top it off it was at least 80 degrees in there. Worst experience in a restaurant in a while and the server couldn't have cared less. I rate El Korita at a ZERO. Sad because it used to be great.

El Korita states on its windows "Best Mexican Food in Town". I would shorten this to Best Mexican Food! Have been going there for a number of years and have yet to have a bad experience.. Lorena's chicken soup is superb, many different flavor layers. The burrito con pollo is just damn great. Atmosphere ok. But you don't go to a restaurant for the decor. Don't make the mistake of ordering something 'dry'. Lorena makes sauces of varying intensities from mild to OMG!!!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
