Greek food is a fine melody of the finest pressed olive oil, fresh fermented bread, colorful vegetables, juicy meat, sea food all cooked in spices and fresh rosemary. The people from Greek were great scholars who aimed to excel in everything they do. The results are quite visible in their food as they are the inventors of olive oil which is beneficial to health. Greeks also made different type of wines from the best quality of grapes fermented in controlled environment.

Anytime we come into town this is one of our most go to places. Normally we just get the gyros but we have had some of their other menu items. The restaurant has recently been purchased by new owners so we were thrilled to find out they still make the best gyros we have ever eaten. When you add the incredible low price and family atmosphere this place is hard to beat.

I will give them 4 stars but I think 3.5 would be more appropriate this was our first visit once inside it looks like nothing you would expect from the outside. Very dated interior with plastic covered tables and the decor looks like something my grandmother would do and very clean but the food is authentic and priced right. Looks like two older servers and two in the kitchen definitely of Greek origin and extremely outgoing and nice. Now on to the food. - Home made bread and herbed oil - The bread is a little dense and was cold I think it could be special right out of the oven and the oil and herbs were right on. - Greek Salad - Nice fresh crisp shredded lettuce, fresh feta, tomatoes, cucumbers, greek olives, very thinly sliced onions, chick peas, and a lite Greek dressing makes this very special you don't want to miss out on this. - Calamari - I didn't ask but I think they are slicing this in the kitchen fresh then they lightly bread it and fry it until just done to keep it tender and delicious and it's not greasy at all we had this with a small cup of tomato sauce that is warm a little spicy and very tasty. - Souvlaki and Gyro Dinner - I don't know if I can order anything else my next visit here. The Gyro is thinly sliced and combined with a few lean pieces of pork souvlaki seasoned and grilled perfectly. This is all set on top of a bed of really good rice nested on a few fresh homemade pita breads. I omitted the tomato sauce I recommend getting it on the side it's very good but I wanted to apply it myself. The coke comes in a can with a glass of ice that is the reason there are no refills so if you drink a lot order water or another soda. The wines are nice and at $3.00 a glass you can't beat it. I will definitely return in the near future.

We were heading from Miami to St. Augustine and thought we would try a non-chain option for dinner. The service was slow and not very friendly. We ordered the tzatziki, which was FULL of garlic but tasty, make sure your partner is also eating it or you may be sleeping alone. The bread was delicious, but surprised it wasn't pita. We ordered the sample plate and expected the same bold flavors, but most of the items were just okay

Cute little Greek place. Friendly staff and they do have a small bar and TV here. The food here was reealllyy good (gyro) and they serve excellent warm bread with your meals. I would recommend trying the Greek beer. Tasty yet on the sweeter side.

I came here after reading some yelp reviews...the place is dated but clean, but the food is only average. I had the Greek ckn chowmein and it was ok, but the portions were small. It came with a salad swimming in Greek dressing. The prices were reasonable, though. I'd probably go back because I'm doing business in the area and I like to support local establishments.

This is authentic Greek! You won't go wrong with any meal here.. (Unless you order a cheeseburger and why would you do that?!) The Greek salad is amazing and add potato salad, you won't be dissapointed! If you're sick, grab a bowl of their chicken, lemon and rice soup. For an entertaining appetizer get the Saganaki (Flaming Greek cheese), it tastes amazing with the bread that the owners freshly bake every morning. If you have ever tried a Gyro anywhere else, don't even try to compare. Athens Gyro is 100% authentic and one of the most delicious items on the menu. The owners are extremely hardworking and give great service! So if you live in Edgewater or you're passing through, try Athen's! If you don't like this authentic Greek, you don't deserve to eat here!

Before heading back to the Wast Coast of Florida after a wonderful day at the beach (New Smyrna Beach) we stopped here for dinner. It is truly a Greek restaurant which served 90% Greek food. Our guest had the Mousaka which was a huge serving of which she was forced to take half home for the next days lunch. She noted that it was her first time ordering this Greek dish and she loved it, very flavorful with a generous amount of seasoned beef in it. My Bride ordered the Chicken Chow Mein (Greek style) which consisted of seasoned chicken with peppers, onions and feta cheese over rice with a tomato sauce. Very good. I opted for the Gyro over rice (hold the red sauce please) with a Greek salad. Which was also very good. The one negative that I had was that there was no potato salad with it. I'm very used to Greek salads here in Pinellas with potato salad that it was a bit of a disappointment. But, not enough to give it a 3 star rating. We all shared in their delicious bread with an olive oil and herb dipping dish. Overall, it was a great dinner for all and we are sure to go back when in town. ;-)

This was delicious! We started with skprdalis a blend of garlic sauce. Then I had a combination platter of mousaka, dolmades, pastichio and spinach pie. Mousaka is a blend of potatoes saute, with ground beef with herbs and seasonings covered with a layers of cooked eggplant and baked with cream toping. Dolmades is tender grape leaves stuffed with ground berf , rice and seasoned with herbs and spices. Pastichio is ground beef with herbs and spices blended with macaroni baked with cream topping. All this topped off with a cup of coffee and a healthy portion of baklava.

I love Athen's restaurant! For an geographic area area named after a Greek Sea port (Smyrna)' it remains the only truly greek restaurant in the area. That is special, and I love the native $3 glass of dry red wine and the top notch food. The dishes are authentic and the perfect serving temperature locks in the eating experience- the plates are always delivered at a searing hot temperature that brings out the best in the food. My favorite is the Chicken "Chow Mein" special - which shares little in common with Chinese chow mein. It is pure heart healthy mediterranean diet, with the meat as a poignant accent and the green peppers cooked just right with the flavor seared in. I recommend the "Greek" Oopah! experience that accompanies the flaming cheese, but even that is put in it's proper perspective by the skillful preparation of the meals. For those in the know, Athens is a treasured part of the New Smyrna small restaurant scene. Athen's is good reasons to live and visit the New Smyrna Beach/Edgewater Area. With restaurants like Athens, The Patio, Jason's Corner, Goodrich's in Oak Hill, Mahoney's on Canal, the new Gnarley Surf Shack off the North Causeway and many more, we are blessed with so many great local food establishments!
