My wife and I went with 4 other couples and had a great time. I ordered the special of white fish and shrimp blackened with fries and it was outstanding. Our server Cacindra was our server and she did a great job. We were seated promptly and our order was placed and delivered quickly even though they were very busy. Can't wait to go back.

FAIL TONIGHT ALL THE WAY!!!!! from the service to the fact that people all around got to eat well before us.... My young daughter. I was livid. The young kid server was a punk on top of it......... I am going to call management tomorrow because this was intentional BS. THIS was not busy tonight.... You had enough staff.... Counted three to four....

Have eaten here twice first time really good second time some of the people we were with didnt like their food i tried it and it was blah but their po-boys and their gator bites are really good nice atmosphere right on the beautiful rainbow river
(4)Todd T.
Look up and see the spider webbs ,look on the lighted beer signs and see the years of dead bugs in the spider webbs, the eves and the ceiling have leaves and covered with spider webbs ask to see a manager and their always at one of the other six restaurants that the same person manages all in all a really dirty place food was really greasey but the staff was very friendly and pleasant

Wanted to give them another chance after a less than stellar experience the first time. Must say that this time was better. Service staff was more on the ball. Food was great as it was the first time.
(3)Jade B.
An excellent place to chow down on some food with friends. The food was spectacular and the service was GREAT. (ask for Jimmy)
(5)Amy R.
Great food and Amazing service.. Corn casserole and the shrimp grits were to die for! Jimmy was awesome!!! Worth a stop for sure!
(5)Dan M.
I went there a while ago and it was amazing. The gator bites...awesome. I can't wait to go there again.
(5)Amanda S.
Blackened Mahi sandwich with sweet potato fries was great. Awesome location right on the river.
(5)Robert K.
You have to order the gator bites! The atmosphere is awesome as is the service. Can't wait to go back.

A nice place to eat after a day on the river. I have only visited for late lunches/early dinner time period. Usually sit out back on the porch by the river in a soaking bathing suit. The wait staff is typically a little unorganized. I have only eaten sandwiches!

Swampy's is a fun little restaurant on the Rainbow River with a great atmosphere. It's my favorite place to go eat after tubing on the river! It has pretty standard American bar food (burgers, wings, sandwiches, etc.), but it also has some more specialty items (gator bites, really good corn casserole, etc.). I highly suggest getting the gator bites! Just be warned, the place gets pretty busy if it's a weekend or holiday during the summer months. Even though you may have to wait 10-20 minutes to get in, the service is great, and the food tends to come out pretty quickly. Also, one of the rooms inside is FREEZING! Bring a jacket in case you get seated in there, or be prepared to buy coffee.

I've been here 3 times this summer. Always 1/3rd full with a 45 minute wait. I've never even been served yet!! Go somewhere else

We were a party of 14 arriving at 8:50 on a Friday evening ( August 21). When we asked for seating we were told by the waitress they were closed. Several customers were still sitting at tables. I told her we checked their website before coming and it said open until 10pm. She then told me that their season had changed and they were closed.. Several days have gone by since that day, but I just had to share my experience... It's poor business ( in my opinion) to turn business away! Pretty sure she just wanted to go home!
(1)Dena G.
The food here really rocks!! The fish tacos were great and I also had the mahi and shrimp. Yummy!!!
(4)Erica S.
Great place, great food, great staff (except for the older lady bartender). Try the fish and chips it's delicious! I will say they need new bar stools and a few ladders to get out of the water from tubing and kayaking but I have faith that they'll step up with that soon. Overall a great place!

Enjoyed the 5-star view, service was prompt, the wait for our food was reasonable. The place has deck seating, covered deck seating and indoor seating as well as picnic tables. It was a gorgeous fall day with nobody on the river but us. Even the kayakkers were still. Very easy to arrive by boat. Loved the quaint shackiness of the place. I ordered the turkey burger with caramelized onions and they did a nice job. My side of green and wax beans and carrots was good. My friends got some pretty fine burgers, cooked to their liking. The fries were a great side. The French onion soup tasted "canned". They had a craft beer option but it was Coors for us. This place gave us a romanticized view of the river and we can't wait to go back.

Great take out place from kayaking the river. Good sandwiches and salads. Great service. Full bar. Would go again.

1:30 pm on a Saturday. Seated in 10 minutes, server came immediately. Food took 30 minutes after we ordered. I had the fried fish sandwich, my wife had the turkey burger. Both were very good. My sandwich was huge. One of the best I have had. Only complaint was that it took a little long to get our food and we had mold on our menus. Would have give 5 stars if it weren't for that.

4 of us stopped in for a Thursday afternoon lunch. It had been raining which resulted in puddles to be navigated in the dirt parking lot. Even with the weather as it was, there was a fairly good sized crowd. We seated ourselves at the only unoccupied table. 2 of us ordered the "Gator Po-boy" sandwich. There were nice meaty chunks of battered and fried alligator, lettuce, tomato, pickle and a nice remolade sauce. These were delicious as was the "Shrimp Po-boy" sandwich which was overflowing with tasty, tender shrimp, lettuce, tomato, pickle and sauce. Anne ordered the "Caesar Salad with Fish". When I asked, the waitress didn't know what kind of fish it was and Anne didn't seem to care. I believe it was swai. Nonetheless, it was perfectly cook; tender and tasty. The lettuce was fresh and crisp, but there was too much dressing. My advice: order the dressing on the side. Speaking of sides, don't waste your palate on the red beans and rice. That's all it was: red beans and rice. It was pretty much flavorless. I expected that they would have cooked the beans in a beef base with onion, garlic and maybe some sausage, but I guess I expected too much. They should rename this 'red and white starchy stuff' so that you aren't tempted to order it. Rick got their "Corned Casserole" side and he really liked it. I thought it was just okay. It was loaded with corn, cheese and if I recall correctly, rice. The winning side dish was their "Sweet Potato Fries". They were crispy and delicious; what more is there to say? They serve them with a small ramekin of a butter, sugar, cinnamon blend which was well constructed and tasty for what it was, but we skipped it as they made it more of a dessert than a side. We now know what to expect. We'll definitely go again. Next time I think I'll order the "Gator Salad" with the dressing on the side. :) Update: the blackened gator wrap is my new favorite, it's tender and tasty. I love this place!

Wish we were able to try the food. The service is beyond horrible. Could not get a server though we asked twice and then we could not even get the manager. Finally got up and left. We told the host why we were leaving and he just shrugged. Wow!!!

After a river adventure, I decided to lounge around at Swampy's Bar and Grille, me and friends sat down and waited for a decent amount of time before being served. I was eager to try the gator bites so nevertheless I endured the wait. The service wasn't up to par however, from a joint of a river the food was exquisite, the gator bites tasted like chicken but gator flavored. I loved the meal thanks.

Great views and friendly staff... Never been disappointed with a meal And the atmosphere is wonderful!
(5)Patty L.
I've eaten here several times and was never disappointed. I love sitting on the deck near the river. At my most recent visit, I had the fish tacos, and they were outstanding--three nicely presented tacos made with blackened basa, some shredded lettuce, and a house-made remoulade. Delicious. The salads here are good, and so are the burgers. It's a great place to go, have a beer, watch the river go by, and eat good food,
(4)Kristen P.
Was here on a river trip with friends and my boyfriend. I felt that my daquiri was watered down but the food was tasty. I ordered the wings as an appetizer and the the shrimp, sausage and grits for the dinner. Nice large portion and pretty tasty. I favored the wings more. One bathroom which is not convenient since many people go here but the service was friendly which was a plus. If in the area again, I would return.

Good food, great location right on rainbow river. Mostly outside seating but its just that kind of place. The shrimp and grits were awesome as was the ceviche salad. Rest of the food was good as well .. The fried items had a nice light coating and were very good (gator notes, catfish). Service was spot on no complaints there. Certainly worth a try at least once .. We went back a couple of times over the week we stayed on Rainbow River and were not disappointed.
(4)Erin B.
Great place to stop and have a beer and a decent meal after coming off the Rainbow River. The salads were surprisingly good (I usually don't expect good salads at a bar). The Shrimp Etouffee was delicious and hit the stop after a day of paddling. Hisband had the Shrimp, Sausage, and Cheese Grits which he wolfed down and claims was delicious. Nice, relaxed atmosphere. Will stop there again when paddling the Rainbow River.

Hanging out at Rainbow River stopped in to have some lunch, nice little place on the river food was good service was great what more can you ask for.

Hey, this place looks just like a "Swampy's" should... thrown together with old boards & baling wire, nestled tight to the riverbank that's lined with cypress trees. We saw two river otters paddling round the cypress and eating all the sushi they could catch! First time here and it was okay... had a rack of babybacks that were huge, but just so-so. The BBQ sauce was bland--almost like ketchup with no tang or spice at all (but too much salt for sure)... hey, where's the dry rub? The side of red beans & rice was bland and over salted. My date's turkey burger was grilled just right, with a side of sweet potato fries that were the best we've had anywhere. Reasonably attentive waitstaff who eventually got it right... they brought two other diners' orders to our table first, but the third was a charm. Great location. Quiet and pretty on the riverbank. Sit outside in the sunshine and enjoy the view of the river full of drifting tubers, kayaks & canoes. I will go back and see if I can find something great on their menu that will keep me coming back. If I don't find it, I'll just have to join the tubers... ----------- So we went back today after canoeing the river for a few hours... Glad we did. Great burger, wings, & sweet potato fries... Never had a piece of corned beef on a burger before, but gives a nice kick that was pretty darned good. Nice cold beer, beautiful afternoon, no bugs around the picnic table, & an energetic waitress. Makes us want to come back!

I love this place sit outside by the water watch the tubers go by really cool good service friendly great food try their swampy burgar mmmm good go check it out...
(5)Marissa S.
Solid burger. Asked the waitress what side she recommended and without skipping a beat she said the corn casserole. It was delicious and I'm glad I asked instead of defaulting to fries. Tried the watermelon/raspberry mojito she recommended and it was good but a little too sweet for my taste. Great view of the river, lots of TVs and a big parking lot. We came earlier in the day so it wasn't that busy, but it looks like it is the place to come as it's pretty spacious but has all the qualities you could want in a sports bar. I'd come back when visiting after some kayaking.
(4)Jonathan W.
Pretty slow service, but definitely good atmosphere. I ordered the shrimp and grits. BEST SHRIMP AND GRITS EVER! Not bad on the crab cakes either.
(4)Angie A.
This is a place with an amazing view and some southern charm. When I walked onto the deck I couldnt believe how beautiful it was... Right on the river with the clearest water Ive probably ever seen. The food was good, i had the swampy's burger which was topped with corn beef and the sweet potato fries which were awesome! My vodka cranberry was also very good. I will be back!
(4)Lorraine W.
Nice laid back place on the beautiful crystal clear rainbow river. Very good jambalaya and they sure give you a lot of food! Good shrimp poboy. You can rent a tube to float the rainbow river next door for $10. Very neat experience!
(4)Steve S.
The food was very good! They weren't very busy (maybe 20 or 25% full) and the service was pretty slow. We asked for an order of wings to be served as an appetizer (we were all very hungry) but it came out with the burgers. I didn't time it, but it must have taken over 1/2 hour to get 4 burgers (and the wings) served (probably more like 45 minutes). I would give it 4 stars if they could speed things up a bit.
(3)Christine W.
Stopped here for lunch on a Sunday and sat outside, overlooking the Rainbow River. Beautiful view! I ordered the shrimp and grits, which was amongst the best I have ever had. So flavorful and the portion was perfect. They also had a special on Magic Hat, $1.50 drafts. Can't beat that! The service was wonderful. Our server was polite and attentive. I can't wait to go back next time I'm in Dunnellon!
(5)Steve S.
Great location! Service was very good: prompt, knowledgable, and courteous. I had two different types of wings; garlic hot, and the Bayou dry rub. Both are fantastic sauces! Ordered them naked, and extra crispy. Arrived as requested, and have to say, they were some of the best wings I've had in a long while! Fries are fine. Beer selection is average, but they had a few we like (Sam seasonal). My friend had the crab cakes and reports them as "fine." End of the day, this is a fantastic location!!!

Great spot with enjoyable staff and best desserts

I have been to this restaurant three times. The food is excellent. The customer service is not so good. I went in there for what would be my fourth visit, the sign said see Hostess for seating. I stood there for 10 minutes no hostess ever came up to greet me, not one member of the staff said hello. The manager came up and said hi how you. Then walked right by me. Five minutes later he said " Oh! Are you waiting to be seated? I said "yes". He said " I don't know what to tell you, it's at least an hour wait to get seated". I looked around there were 16 open booths or tables, 10 staff members, and a rude manager with clearly no idea what he was doing. The food is great however the trade off for good service is hardly worth it.
(2)Jackie C.
Not satisfied. Gumbo served luke warm. French fries bland and fish sandwich just ok. Would not return and surprised to see rated as 4 stars.
(2)Amy B.
We were there with a pretty big party after tubing all day and the service wasn't the fastest. The waitress was cool though until she messed up one of our orders and then she got an attitude with everyone and was super rude! The manager comped the messed up order though and the food was pretty decent! Definitely a convenient stop to eat after getting off the river all day but not on my high priority list to go back.
(2)Michael W.
Great spot for a burger and a beer after a day on the Rainbow River. Scenic location.

IF you are looking for a reasonably priced fish and chips, Go to the BLUE GATOR on 41 by the river. The score in my book is 4 to 1 in the favor of the GATOR, but that's just one man's opinion. Chances are really great that we will go to the GATOR from this time forward. The food was good but they must have been running real short of it. The portions were skimpy at best. Wavil
(1)Danan C.
Beautiful setting with tons of seating outside so you can just watch the people floating down the river.
(3)Becky B.
Good food and good atmosphere. This is a very causal place to eat. My mother's builder recommended this local restaurant. It is on the river with both indoor and outdoor seating. We sat inside since it was hot (94 but feels like 108). Since it was after 1pm, there were not a lot of people so we got a table overlooking the river. We watched the boaters and tubers going up and down the river while we waited for our food. I ordered the shrimp po boy with a side of sweet potato fries. Mom ordered a shrimp Caesar salad. The shrimp po boy had lots of shrimp. I asked for shrimp cocktail sauce instead of the remoulaude sauce. There were plenty of shrimp on the sandwich. The sweet potato fries were good. They came with a cinnamon sugar butter which went great with the fries. Most places don't offer anything with sweet potato fries except ketchup. Mom's salad had plenty of shrimp. The wait staff was friendly and helpful regarding suggestions. Next time I visit my mom I plan to come back. If you are looking for a casual local place to eat, I would recommend this pkace.
