Based on the reviews read here, i decided to give this place a try. We showed up for lunch at around 11:45am and the buffet was very sparse. Most of what is offered is not fresh, is bland or just tastes bad. The majority of the sushi offered is cooked, and whatever is not cooked looks pale or anemic. The cooked food mostly tasted the same. At one point i thought i was eating pork, but come to find out it was chicken. The ice cream had chunks of frost/ice inside. The best thing i ate was the brownies. Outside of that it was mostly crap. Avoid this place like the plague.

One of the best buffets I have visited. Pricing is reasonable since you get fresh sushi including tempura rolls, nagiri and I believe for dinner and weekends sashimi. Plus you have your hibachi with choices to pick from, hot food and dessert. $11.95 for lunch in Doral for all you can eat is really good and all the food was really tasty and delicious. Recommend it to anyone and buffet is located behind McDonald's in the far corner next to domino's pizza.

The best Japanese buffet in town! You can't go wrong here!! ; ) The soups are delicious, the sushi is fresh and varied, and the sashimi IS MY FAVORITE!! AND THERE's A CHOCOLATE FOUNTAIN!!!! The customer service is on point, everyone is extremely friendly!

Budget type restaurant, you get what you pay for, but still better than Ichiban. Dinner begins after 4pm; menu seems to vary lunch/dinner

Sushi is horrible. Took one bite and told them but they charged me anyway. Never again.

We've come here several times and it's pretty good. Great lunch prices $11 and kids 4 and under eat free!! The sushi is usually filled and everything looks pretty fresh. The only reason I didn't rate them 5 stars is because the buffet of hot food is always missing items. And the hibachi grill is awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is not the world's greatest sushi. It's not even the world's greatest buffet line sushi, but it is good enough and varied enough that I would consider returning in the future. There are quite a few options here and while nothing was particularly outstanding, nothing was bad either. In fact, I would describe the food here overall as "pretty good." For a buffet in Doral (especially of the Asian variety), that's a win. Service is quick and friendly and the prices are good. Like I said, if I were back in the area and looking for this type of food, I would definitely consider a return visit.

Craving amazing sushi? Very hungry? Well this is the place ;p I find Aki to be the best sushi buffet in Doral! The sushi is extremely fresh, the variety of rolls, and sushi goes on and on, and if u'r craving other Japanese dishes... Well they got u covered! Not to mention the dessert bar has just as much variety! But the best is the price!!! Who can top lunch at $10.95+tax for all you can eat sushi and more?? Don't know of too many places so definitely this is a must-try!!

Straight 3.5 They do offer real seafood for lunch which is better than most places of this class. fried clams, steamed fish, shrimp done more than 1 way...and for a decent price..... can't complain!! of course dinner can be better but if lunch is the rock bottom then there's no way to go but UP!

This place initially started out pretty good but as with all good things in Miami, it's now mostly mediocre and bland. The rolls are small, some are dried out, fish doesn't look so fresh and inviting. There are quite a bit of "cooked" rolls to choose from, so if that's your thing then have at it. I'm not basing this review on one visit, I have gone a few times just to see if my previous visit was an off day.. It's a shame since the location was convenient and the restaurant looks great but sadly the beauty is only skin deep.

Great food with some quality. Beautiful bathrooms that within the name buffet is needed and a lunch price you can't complain about. After going several Times the waitresses even remember which yes! Can be to much to ask for but they manage making you feel like you are valued as a customer.

Not the best sushi in Miami for sure, but for the price, it doesn't get better than this. I recommend taking advantage of the hibachi before filling up on the sushi.

I give this place three and a half stars. The moment you walk in you don't get that sticky feeling and the walls are not greasy. The place looks nicely decorated, it's double the size of Ichiban buffet but probably the same amount of food selection. We came in at 5:30 on a Thursday for dinner and there wasn't a lot of people, so the food were ehh... It wasn't hot and I knew it was probably the left over from lunch. If you want to eat here, don't come exactly when they open, come later. The oysters didn't taste so fresh and the snow crab didn't snap so well. They didn't have hot sauce for the oysters only sriracha sauce. The only thing I enjoyed was probably the miso soup, ice cream, and the hibachi grill. It cost us $17.95 per adult. I would not drive out of my way for this place, overall it's OK nothing spectacular.

If you've read my reviews you know I'm not into buffets. You might also know I lived in the Netherlands. The Dutch have a skewed idea about the land they still call "Oriental." Instead of the generic American hot and sour, there is a sweet and spicy "Mandarin tomato soup." There is always an ubiquitous cold bar with smoked fish and bizarre chicken of the sea rolls. But where the Dutch smack down the American Chinese buffet institution is the ever-present hibachi grill. Anything you want--lamb, fish, shrimp, noodles. Every time we'd go I'd leave ten pounds heavier. And this place has the same pleasure and fat-inducing grill tucked right in the back of the buffet. Can you hear that? That's angels singing. Lunch is only $10.95 AYCE. If they can keep up this quality at this price it's definitely a place to watch.

The service is really nice. I mean you get what you pay for. Dinner for $19.99 you can't ask for a really nice buffet of food. There is not much variety of food it's all the same but it's not THAT bad. Not sure if I would come back.

Went there on a Sunday at 3:30 pm with my 10 year old daughter....most trays were empty...manager told me that they were getting ready for dinner....I could not eat what I wanted to eat neither my daughter......The funny thing is that they charged me and my daughter dinner rates...$50 for both of us. Not fair. I went there again last Thursday at 3:30 again,,,,they told me they were getting ready for dinner that I could just eat what is left on the trays......I walked away, I will never go back.

First, as far as Sushi Buffets go, the food is a pretty good value for your money. However, Some of their rolls are a bit too creative and not very good. The best value is during lunch,as their dinner prices are $18 and the main difference is sashimi pieces and crab legs. After my last visit, I will NOT go here again. Went for dinner at 9pm (they close at 10pm) and was seated normally. MEANWHILE, the sushi preparers were busy cleaning and putting away everything...at 9pm. Meaning, no more selections were being displayed. Customers continued to arrive and yet, the food selections were not refilled. I saw one customer ask an employee if more sushi would be made and he said 'No" that they were getting ready to close. For $18, I expect them to provide all the selections until close, or if not, advise us before seating. I mentioned this issue to the manager and all I got was 'sorry" "you should have told the waitress, and she'll bring you what you need." ........Mind you......the sushi area was being hosed down and cleaned and the other workers were cleaning and picking up. With SO MANY better sushi buffet options in the area, I will avoid Aki next time. POC, Kyojin and Shinju are WAY...WAY..better.

This buffet is nothing special, the buffet is mediocre and sushi has no taste. It's a good place if you don't care about the quality of the food and you are just hungry.

Very good food for the price, this place has a great sushi selection although it isn't the best quality sushi. The food was good, too but it was just basic rice, noodles, and fish all of which were pretty bland. They did have a wide variety of deserts including ice cream, macaroons, and "fresh" fruit -- the little tiramisu squares are perfect! I went mainly for the sushi which tasted fresh for the most part and they had several different rolls that didn't all have the same taste that some sushi in sushi buffets tend to get. The service is not that great, I've gone twice and the first time we didn't even have a waitress and the second our waitress did not bring back change, I'm guessing thinking we wouldn't tip her? Definitely would recommend for a casual lunch or something like that

Not a section of Miami I frequent often, but home of one of the areas better Japanese buffets. This place has a huge selection of fresh sushi with highlights being smoked octopus and some of the freshest salmon sashimi I've had on a buffet line. What I like about this particular spot which makes them unique is the size of the rolls are cut small. This allows you to try more sushi and there are tons of different rolls to chose from. They have a decent, but nothing special hot food line and a better than average Hibachi station where you can chose which protein and veggies a cook will prepare fresh for you. As with most sushi buffets, lunch is the best deal to get your money worth. If I lived closer it would definitely be one of my go to places to chow down, but nonetheless it's good to know that if I'm ever in the Doral area, good sushi eats are to be had!

Lacey C.'s review hit the nail on the head. Came by today (Sunday, October 20, 2013) at the pleading of my son. The staff is friendly, service efficient, and the food quality a definite step above most buffets. We loved the hibachi/teppanyaki grill. Talk about a nice spin to AYCE! Hoping the word gets out and these guys stick around - this is the first buffet I've encountered in a long time that I'm willing to eat at and return to. It's a big plus that they're just a block from my house!

Very good value for money, quality on par with more expensive area japanese buffets. SWEET / SOUR soup particularly tasty with lots of mushroom and tofu. Staff accomodating when I was arrived 15 minutes before serving time; they let me start off with a soup and tea. Negatives are that on a couple of occasions the sushi saba was past prime and smelled fishy. The hibachi can be bland and over cooked; definitely provide guidance to cook if you do not want food overcooked.

I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!! I go at least once a week with my coworkers. The staff is super nice, the place is clean, they have a nice selection of sushi and sashimi, even chinese food for those who don't like sushi. And for lunch the prices are great.

What an amazing little hidden gem! Not only is the staff so welcoming and friendly but the food variety is plenty. They have so many different pieces and combinations of rolls and sashimi (small pieces, more variety), a full hibachi grill, great soups, amazing desserts (try the coconut ice cream!), crab legs, and all kinds of everything. Definitely the best buffet in Doral and one of the best in Miami!

One of the better Japanese Buffets I have been to in Miami. The restaurant was spacious and clean. The food was well presented and had a lot of variety. Was definitely impressed Great sushi and hot food selection. Very comfortable meal. I enjoyed it and will definitely go back. My only recommendation to management: Do not let your kitchen employees eat in the dining room during restaurant hours. It does not look good and detracts from the great atmosphere in the dinning room. When I was there, they were all eating at tables by the sushi bar and were playing on their cell phones and wearing hats. It looked bad.

15 words or less: Try it! You'll enjoy their delicious food and nice ambiance. 15 words or more: Being of Chinese descent, I have a biased perception as to what is considered "authentic" Oriental cuisine and from my experience, most Asian buffets are either a hit or miss in terms of quality and service. Aki definitely delivers in both. The food is quite delicious, albeit being more of an "Americanized" style like most typical Asian buffets offer. What really called my attention was the hibachi grill and variety in the sushi bar, which in itself is incentive to try this restaurant. In addition, you can request custom sushi rolls...a commodity that is rare among restaurants, let alone a buffet. The locale is neatly presented with a relaxing ambiance of Asian decor and I was surprised at how the waitresses were more than attentive to our needs. Aki is a relatively new restaurant, and I'm sure they'll build upon what is a already a great foundation. I came here with my family on a whim, and we left quite satisfied. If you're in the Doral area and in the mood for a good Asian buffet, you should definitely give it a try!

I don't really like buffets because I believe the quality of the food is not all that great. My husband really wanted to try this place so I decided to give it a try . We got there 30 mins before dinner started but the owner was so very nice and had the sushi bar make us fresh sushi while we waited. All the food was EXTREMELY good and very good quality. A lot of shrimp selection (my favorite) and CRAB LEGS! Hibachi to order and of course the sushi bar! What we really liked about this place is that the owner is very nice and attentive to all our needs. We will defiantly be coming back!

Came here just after their first full week being open and the service was superb. Food is great and always made fresh. The small containers on the hot buffet ensures this will always be true. The layout and design of the place, though simple, is smart and spacious.

  • Richard L.

The food was bland and required a large splash of sauce from the dirty condiment dispensers. None of the employees can speak more than a few words in English which made it near impossible to find out what was in each sushi roll, an overall unpleasant experience.

This was our second attempt to eat here, however, we were not able to eat. The first time we came, we were told to come back an hour later because they "close" between lunch and dinner, yet the doors were open and people were eating. Tonight we returned well after the start of dinner, we gave our drink order and went to the bar, it was a scary sight, the prepared hot food all had a "skin" residue from sitting out too long, my husband picked up a spoon to move around a dish and it jiggled and he touched the platter it was on and it was room temperature. He then went over to the sushi plates and touched the edge of one of those and it too was room temperature borderline warm. I am sorry, buffet or not, compared to Shinju and other sushi buffets we have been to, this place just wasn't up to par. Hot food should be served hot and sushi should be on cold plates, not allowed to get to room temperature, that is how you get sick. Needless to say, we told the waitress we had changed our minds and walked out. It was not a professional presentation of the food and sadly, it wasn't just one dish on the hot bar that had the film/crustiness, but almost all of the dishes showed evidence of having been sitting out for a long time. If you come here go check out the bars of food prior to committing. I don't think we will be back for a third experience.
