We liked Blalock's a lot better. I came here on a Sunday afternoon and it smelled fishy. The staff said they get the seafood from boats all through the day. The thing is, do they if it is Sunday? And do what are they going to do with the whole counter of shrimp that are sitting out currently if they are about to close? A good seafood place does not smell fishy. I made the shrimp we bought that night and they didn't seem very fresh. I have tried other local seafood shops and they were fresher and less expensive. They are cash only if you still decide to go.

Excellent seafood...I do think it is a bit pricey considering it is fresh local fare and there is no transporting, etc... $50 for 1 pound of lump crab meat, 1 pound of shrimp and 1 pound of bay scallops. With that said, the scallops, shrimp and lump crab we got there was all fabulous! No "fishy" smell at all. The huge scallops we purchased smelled so clean and fresh...living in Memphis, TN, I have forgotten what real fresh seafood smells like..IT DOESN'T! :) Anyway, they also will package it up for you in a cooler for the road on ice. Very friendly prompt service. Skip the others...this one is the real deal. My husbands family has only gone here for years!

They win the prize for most variety of shrimp. prices aren't the cheapest really. it depends on what you get. it's not fair to compare apples to apples because the shrimp variety varies from place to place. the shrimp we got was good. I would have given four stars, but they're not as friendly or helpful as the place down the street. and there's not a lot of extras (spices, etc). the smell didn't bother me too much. it's a seafood market. it's supposed to smell.

Sextons is our "go to" fish market in Destin. It's fresh and clean with many choices of great seafood. The shrimp is always excellent and the staff consistently friendly and helpful. They only accept cash and have two ATMs onsite. Can't miss, you won't be disappointed.

The fish was so fresh and absolutely delicious. We went back several times during our week stay. The Shrimp, Red Snapper, Grouper and Tile fish were wonderful! The blackened seasoning and BBQ shrimp seasoning is also amazing. Highly recommend! It is cash only.

We bought Rock Shrimp, Shrimp, Scallops & Mussels and cooked them all up at the condo. About the Rock Shrimp......AMAZING!! A bit of a hassle to clean but after finding out our delicious they are, I'm going back to buy more, several more times before we leave. They are sweet and taste like Lobster.

My wife and our bodybuilding family eat a ton of fish. Holy cow they had fresh caught red snapper, grouper, tile fish and many other fish. At their recommendations on seasoning and these 3 types of fish was one heck of a series of best fish meal ever situations!!! We were tourists but a master BBQ grilling family. These guys contributed to one great family vacation. Cant eait to visit them again! Best EP

Great fresh seafood....unfortunately the service was unsettling. The girl working actually sighed when we asked questions as if we were bothering her. Didn't smile one time. Roller her eyes when I asked for the smallest red snapper. Seafood was overpriced but that is to be expected in a tourist town. Very clean establishment with no fishy smell...I'll go back if I'm in Destin, hopefully the staff is taking customer service classes.

The seafood here is good but I bought 4 containers of shucked oysters and they were all spoiled. I am from Atlanta and I can't return it bc I bought it to bring home assuming it would be good quality. That's $60 in the garbage. 2 ppl got sick from them. Another thing is, the short, blonde, chubby lady is not friendly at all. We went there 3 times on our 8 day Destin vacation and everytime she was not nice and had an attitude. Like she is doing u a huge favor by ringing up your items.

Small but awesome! We came in to get a cooler and ice for fishing but came back later for the great selection of fresh crab and fish.
(5)Chester R.
we got a few lbs of shrimp and some different white fish.....one of which was amazing and referred to as "poor man's grouper".....also got some spices and such for the shrimp boil. fresh, fresh and fresh. in summary.....if you come to Destin...and go to a restaraunt to buy and eat seafood....you are an idiot. CASH ONLY. They do have an ATM, it charges a $2.00 fee on the machine side.
(5)DegThai T.
Found you guys on Yelp! Absolutely great place to get your fresh seafood. We went there today got a 3lbs Red Snapper, HUGE Shrimp, Lobster and Fresh Oyster. Everything we bought were fresh which you will taste the natural sweetness of Fresh Seafood! We're plan to be there again tomorrow! Y'all need to stop by here when y'all come to Destin Fl.

The shrimp were really good, I paid a lot for large shrimp and half my bag were small shrimp. Watch what they are giving you closely.

A fresh local seafood market that has whatever in season for extremely low prices. This place is extremely clean and well organized. I bought some head on shrimps and lobster. They gave me free ice to help insulate it for the road. Keep in mind this place DOES NOT accept cash. There is an ATM, but charges you $2. DO NOT come here if your also looking for something that is not in season. Overall I love this seafood market and wished it was near my home. Cheers!

Just picked up some Royal Reds at Sexton's and they are huge...12-15/lb with head on for $7.95/lb.!!!. The market is very clean and everything was well iced; it does not smell fishy at all. They had a great selection of shrimp and some really nice, fresh-looking fish...the trigger fish looked amazing! I'll post back on how the Royals turn out but if they taste as good as they look, I'm going to be one happy camper! Good customer service as well....they offer to put your stuff on ice. They do only take cash but there is an ATM (with a fee I'm sure) if need be.

If you are planning to make Fresh homecook seafood meal I would recommend coming here. Of the times We've been here the seafood looks fresh.
(5)Geoffry L.
Best shrimp I've ever eaten, get em with the heads on. Without heads is like cutting the fat off steak!
(5)D G.
The fish in the place were plentiful and relatively fresh. I bought two pounds of jumbo shrimp. They were very fresh and delicious. Unfortunately though, not all of the shrimp were jumbo sized when I got home to peel them. And the prices here are a higher per pound than similar places.
(3)D B.
We have been going here for years. Much better prices than Destin Ice and Seafood Market and way nicer staff. We paid $12/lb for jumbo shrimp at Sextons vs $18/lb at Destin Ice. Staff was very nice. There oysters didn't seem as fresh as they usually are, but were good none the less. They did not have Salmon when we were there...Cash only equals better prices.

Sexton's is my boyfriend's mom's favorite place to get fresh shrimp and fish, and she knows her seafood! They had tons of shrimp (with and without heads depending on how seafood savvy you are) and other fish options. I've had many a shrimp boil with shrimp from this place and they are always delicious! They can package it for you to take home if you're staying locally, or they can pack it to ship and take home with you if you're heading home from vacation.

If you love to cook and you love FRESH seafood, Sexton's is your place! I was in a seafood wonderland the minute I walked through the door. Whole & cleaned red snapper, grouper, flounder, shark, mahi mahi, and cobia are all there, on ice, off the boat that morning. Not to mention the shrimp! I highly suggest the Royal Reds; they are so sweet and succulent, you could close your eyes and think it was lobster or crab. My stomach is rumbling just thinking about all the delectable goodness in that store. I wish Memphis had such an offering! ** A previous reviewer stated no CC or Debit accepted. TRUE, but if you find yourself without cash, there's an ATM machine there for convenience.

This is a review of the Sexton Seafood fish market. This was my first time at a fish market, it was small but I was impressed. (Can't wait to visit Seattle to see some wild fish tossing action!) We popped in to pick up some shrimp and fish. There were several sizes of shrimp to choose from and it tasted yummy! We also picked up snapper and something else, which I didn't eat but my husband said was delicious. Oh BRING CASH or your checkbook. No credit cards accepted...lucky we had some cash. :)
(4)Steve L.
Lots of fresh fish, but they are pricey. How can a place charge so much for tranporting fish and shrimp about 1/2 mile from the Harbor? I asked a local about Sexton's and he summed it up correctly. "That place, they charge you for walking in the door..." On a side note, everything we bought was excellent. The three stars are because of $$$$ only, not because of the food quality.
(3)Carol P.
When visiting Destin one of our favorite places, great fresh seafood. Just remember to take cash.
(5)Travena H.
Great fresh shrimp!! We purchased several pounds of shrimp with the heads on and the slap ya momma seasoning and went back to our condo and boiled it. It was very good and a great inexpensive way for the group to have dinner together. Ask to have the shrimp put on ice instead of purchasing a cooler.
(4)Lisa S.
Wonderful quality seafood and lots of fresh, fresh shrimp. On the weekends, they will boil your shrimp outside with shrimp boil seasoning for $1/pound. This is the best seafood I've found in the area, whether in a market or a restaurant.
(5)debora c.
Coming from Colorado, I thought the prices were OUTSTANDING for the quality and freshness. We bought cobia and shrimp to make tacos for 3 people and it was less than $12. The quality was FANTASTIC!!!
(5)Fay G.
We were very happy with the shrimp we got here and took back to our condo to cook. Sweet and tasty. With the high volume they sell, knew it was fresh. Will go back again before we head home to enjoy the shrrimp again.

I love Sexton's!!! The wife and I snagged some amazing pink shrimp from here on our first day in Destin. The whole red snapper looked incredible too, but unfortunately I didn't have the tools to properly cook it in our small condo kitchen. The boiled shrimp turned out even better than I'd hoped. They were slightly sweet and as fresh as can be. I made some sriracha tartar sauce to go with them, which was just ridiculously tasty. We came back the next day and got some amberjack fillets. They were on special, which made the decision a no-brainer. These fillets were pretty thick, so it took a little trial and error to get them cooked through. The end result was delicious though and well worth the trouble. On our third day, we came back for more shrimp. We had originally looked at Destin Ice just to mix things up, but their shrimp didn't look nearly as good as the ones at Sexton's. Why mess with a good thing? For the fourth and final run to Sexton's, we bought a pound of filleted red snapper. It was way more fish than we needed for the two of us, but we happily ate every scrumptious bite. Snapper is one of my favorite fishes, and Sexton's did not disappoint. Everybody here is incredibly friendly and happy to answer any questions. Restaurants make things easy, but Sexton's makes cooking phenomenal homemade seafood easy, too.

Definitively a greta place where to find fresh, local, seafood. I drove by in a weekend stay on the beach and took home some good-looking clams and head-on shrimps, and scallops. All together made a great seafood pasta and I could tell the clams and shrimps where fresh for real. Scallops were just fine, not so special. 4 Stars just for the attitude of the employees, they don't seem caring much about customers. I can survive to that! Like the branch here in B'ham, their attention to hygiene conditions is meticulous, and you want that from a seafood market! Certainly a great place where to go seafood shopping.

So, I'm staying a stones throw from Skippers but after reading reviews and looking at pricing, I wanted to go to the best fishery in Destin. Sexton's was 9 miles from our house, which is really nothing and in the end, so worth it. There was only one gentleman working and he answered every question and was extremely gracious. I purchased 1/2lb of Tuna, 1lb of crawfish, over a lb of their largest shrimp, a lb of crab claws and hush puppies for just over $50. Everything was fresh, cooked up great and delicious. I'll be going back for the Cobia and Grouper before heading home. HIGHLY recommend this place, all day, every day.

I always get an excellent selection of the freshest Gulf shrimp when I come here. The prices are very fair for their quality sea food. Come here if you want to buy fresh wild caught sea food. Be advised the place is CASH only. Also pay the extra $5 to have your items packed in a cooler if you will be driving out of Destin.
(5)Patrick P.
Extremely fresh fish. I now make it a habit to load my cooler with some fish and shrimp before heading home. You can't get fresher seafood. Now I just need an awesome chef!
(5)Jami C.
So clean.... knowledgable & personable staff..... Very impressive & ready to head back to the condo to cook up our Royal Reds & snapper!!
(5)Charlotte J.
Freshest seafood in Destin. We always load up a cooler of fish and shrimp from here before heading home. Would highly suggest.

I have to admit before you read this review that I know little to nothing about fresh seafood. Lets be honest, I live in the Midwest yo. That being said, we came to Sexton's after my sister had had a positive experience here before. We ended up getting the frozen shrimp, boo on us, because it was the only thing they offered that was pre peeled and deveined. When we thawed and boiled the shrimp for shrimp cocktail it had a very fishy smell and tasted OK, nothing great. I guess that's what you get when you come to a fresh seafood place an get something frozen. If I were to go back, I would definitely go fresh next time. At this point I would say that its a 3 star experience at best, but, and the big BUT here is the experience. We came here on a rainy day with my nieces because we wanted to expose them to something different. Destin in general is pretty expensive and full of children's experiences that can leave parents cash strapped. This was cheap entertainment. When we came in there were lots of whole fresh fish sitting on display, something that the kids loved seeing.
