Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

Everything in the poor reviews from others is dead on for this location. Filthy, slow, not-so fresh, etc. You'd think such a rich and touristy area would have an awesome Chipotle! If you, like us, looooove Chipotle, you'll be disappointed by a stop here. That said though, we still stop here every time we visit Destin because it's the nearrst. Luckil h we have one being built near us. Hopefully it will fill the need and we can say goodbye to this one for good.

This was my first time at Chipotle and I am not impressed. I am a Mexican food lover, Chipotle Mexican Grill does not do Mexican food justice. The employees here are incredibly rude and rush you through placing your order. The food is over priced for what you get...we paid over $40 for 2 adults and 2 children.

Let me begin my saying I am OBSESSED with chipotle. Literally, you could say it's a problem. Fast forward to when I heard they were opening one in my area...so excited I could cry. Now not that I am not still impressed, and maybe they just need a few months to work out the kinks..but this one wasn't up to chipotles usual standards. The meat was fatty and multiple times they have been "out" of what I wanted. Very early in the night. Now what confuses me is why they can't make more? Maybe there is some behind the scenes operation I don't understand. The line is always forever long, just like any chipotle, but this one seems to move way slower. Still, I wait because I love me some burrito bowls. I will keep coming back in hopes that they will work out the kinks. I will say the staff is very friendly and maybe they just need a little more training.

I have been crazy about this place since the very first one opened in the mid 90's just a few blocks from my home at the time in Denver, Colorado. Almost from the first day it opened, there was a line out the door and down the sidewalk. I had never seen the big burrito like that, and the taste was incredible, and fresh. Today, the company is quite different of course, but the one thing that remains original is that great taste, and excellent quality. I have never had a bad experience at any Chipotle, from Denver to New York, and so far here in Destin. This location is very new, but seems to be well staffed and doing a good job so far. It's a little vanilla in there, but I'm sure they pushed to open asap. I hope some of the 3-D art that is in every Chipotle, as was in that original one on Evans Ave back in Denver, shows up here eventually. Update...Sept 2014. Unfortunately this store seems to be slipping. Something is off here. The employees don't seem to care or something. Hope they can get everything dialed in soon or this location may be an exception to a usually very good and solid chain.

I CHIPOTLE!!!! I'm from San Antonio, TX living here due to hubby's job... Well this place still hasn't gotten all the kinks out yet... Like other reviews the lines are ridiculously long but that's because of the disconnect in the staff... I'm guessing since this is the only chipotle in the area they don't have much exposure to what chipotles standards are...the spoonful serving of every item as it should be they literally jip you of your serving when I asked for more of anything the guy just gave me a look like "really" I'm like hold up its a 30ish min drive to this location and I want my chipotle fix!!!!!! Like guy you still get paid give me my portions correctly!!!! I have been to chipotle wayyyyyu to many times in my home town to several different locations and had superb service and servings but this place has not once made me feel like a valued and "loyal" customer I know chipotle and this place lacks the value... Ugh! Please get it together!!!!!

Hands down the worst Chipotle I've ever been to. From the first moment my partner and I got to the counter, it was clear something was wrong. There was a backed-up line of 7 unfinished burritos/tacos/bowls laying out on the workers' side, while the woman tasked with the salsa/guac/cheese/lettuce distribution and rolling moved very slowly and with obvious distress. We watched as she mis-rolled 3 burritos in a row, requiring those to be redone from the start. Instead of waiting for this debacle to resolve itself-- or better yet, helping the woman-- the two men on tortilla/taco shell and meat duty continued filling their part of orders, increasing the back up. The food piled up and grew cold. Worse, there was some kind of problem going on at the cash register-- instead of skipping over the broken burritos and letting customers pay for their bowls or tacos (which didn't require rolling), the cash register woman held up the whole line and refused to process anyone besides the people whose burritos were being redone. It took so long that the woman at the register was joking and laughing with another colleague. When I finally got mine (15 minutes after first reaching the counter), not only was it cold (which was to be expected), but it was also the worse burrito I've ever had. The chicken was completely charred, the beans were underdone, and something in it had been so oversalted that large portions of it were inedible. My partner's burrito-- perhaps as overcompensation for the burritos that had been broken-- was 1/3 the size of a normal Chipotle burrito. It was comically small. At first we were very angry (others in the line were getting vocal), but ultimately we couldn't help laughing. It was tragicomically bad. I can only assume the management is pathetic at this branch. They need serious staff retraining. I'm just glad it's not my local Chipotle.

I usually love going to chipotle but today was hopeless. It all started when I saw the burrito shell guy attempting to peel off shells from a block of frozen shells. Not a good quality sign. Then the meat scooper was super stingy with the meat. I've had chipotle numerous times and today's portions were struggling!! Them the final girl that rolls it had no idea what I meant when I asked her to mix it. I do this at every other chipotle and its never an issue. She had no clue. So I tried to train her from over the counter. Fail. The cashier with the camo pants was super cool tho. Bottom line. Worst chipotle I've been to. The cashier made it go up a star!!

I love Chipotle and all of the staff working the line were great. Friendly and quick. However, this woman who I think must be a manager was awful. Some people came in and they were holding the door open to let their family in, when the woman yelled at them to close the door! Appalling. She was so incredibly grumpy that I was embarrassed for Chipotle. I went back again tonight, and saw her sitting outside talking to staff...lots of chipotle napkins swirling outside the front door, and she was just sitting nearby complaining about how some time coming up was going to be busy for them.

I usually love chipotle, but this location was terrible. Stingy on the portions, charged me for drinks I didn't order, stale chips. First time I've ever ordered a chipotle salad and the ingredients didn't even reach the top of the dish. Disappointed that I wasted one of my meals here in Destin at this Chipotle location.

......went here because we were trying to save $ and it was quick and easy....not so much. It took a LONG time to get through the line, the rice was undercooked but other than that the food was as it should be. Staff was very friendly. The bathroom was nasty when I went in and when my friend went in, there was no toilet paper. Just not what I expected from my normal chipotle...not worth it.

This location needs a lot of work before it can be considered a success. The parking lot is absolutely terrible for this location. It shares space with a strip mall and other businesses, but every spot seemed to be taken. Once inside, the first thing I noticed was the super long line that extended around the dining area. I thought this was just a sign of a busy location; but once I got to the checkout area, I realized that it was the staff who were holding everyone up. They could not figure out the transition from one staff member to the next and how to figure out what people were ordering without asking them and fumbling through the answers. From the time I entered to the time I paid and left, it was about 15 minutes and line behind me extended out the door. Beside the payment debacle, they seemed to be out of a lot of ingredients as well. The staff seemed panicked and worried about this but they didn't do anything about it other than just yell in the back that they need more (insert meat or rice or topping here) and then tell the customers that they were out of that ingredient. Overall, this place is far from perfect. If they get their act together, they will be up to par with other Chipotle locations. I would steer clear of this particular location for a while until these problems are remedied.

Was looking forward to see what the hype was about. Boring and bland flavor, not at all what I expected! No variety for ingredients. Yawn.........

First off, I LOVE Chipotle. Your town has made it when it has one.... Yet each time I eat at this location, I go in with high hopes.... And each time I leave feeling like my I was de-friended on Facebook (As in we're still cordial to each other but not on talking terms... yet I still have hopes for the future) At the time of this review I've eaten here 3 times... each time hoping, wishing and praying for a better experience. I rarely hand out One Star ratings and i think too many people nit-pick their way to a one star rating... BUT humor me and keep reading. The wonderful thing about Chipotle is the incredibly high standard that this company has set for itself nationwide. At Chipotle you expect an awesome product, with delicious, freshly sourced ingredients, in a cool minimalist environment, for a decent price, all in relatively quick time. Unfortunately, the Destin Commons Chipotle does not live up to this standard... This Chipotle is simply abysmal. Ok... so they built the Chipotle in a space the size of my closet... but that's cool cause there is lots of outside seating... except when its 90 degrees during the summer with 95% humidity. Every time I have eaten here, the tables have napkins and orphaned rice strewn all over the floors and tables. It is an automatic turn off... As a first impression for a patron its not a good start. It shows a lack of attention to detail, and the neglect of the employees. If the mess doesn't turn you off, the line certainly will. You think to yourself "Generally lines in Chipotle go pretty fast... It's an assembly line right?" Wrong. Each time I've dined here the line has snaked either to the door or out the door. The inefficiencies of the Teams is apparent here. There is always a back up between the Tortilla, Rice and Beans... to the fixins. Daisy nailed it in her review... "...the woman tasked with the salsa/guac/cheese/lettuce distribution and rolling moved very slowly and with obvious distress." If you're still reading at this point, and haven't made up your mind as to whether you want to eat here or not, I'll continue with the actual food review. For the amount of food that should be consumed with the long lines, you would think the kitchen is constantly cranking out fresh chicken, steak and guac... yet nothing has ever really looked fresh. The grilled onions and peppers look like they've been sitting there all day, and the salsas look like they were made two or three days before. Poorly prepared burritos, small serving sizes, and a lack of toppings... all of this combines to a sub-par burrito. Three awful experiences in a row equals one star in my book. I'm sorry I had to lambaste a business that such high standards, but this Chipotle needs a serious overhaul before I ever eat there again. New Management, New Employees, Re-Training... Something is wrong here, and it needs to be fixed. Chipotle is so good! This Chipotle is so awful. Save yourself some grief. Go to Moe's, go to Buritto el Sol or Tijuana Flats...heck go to Chipotle in another city... but do not eat here.

Went a little late so maybe that's why it didn't seem up to par. The food was warm at best and the service was horrible. 5 people or so we're standing around debating on who would like to serve me. They did speed through the line since I was the only one ordering. Then I had to wait again to check out for I am not sure what reason. The guy walked by the register, talked to two employees, then walked back to check me out. Not sure why the customer wasn't the priority. Tables had food on it and I had to clean my seat of rice and lettuce before I sat down. They were also counting cash 45 minutes before closing. Not my best chipotle experience at all.

Had my first experience at Chipolte this past weekend. Friends raved about their food and quality of their food. I was shocked at how overpriced this place is for food. It's like they are trying way too hard. I had a steak burrito and have to say I've had better ones at Taco Bell. This place is a total waste of time!! Don't bother you get better food a Taco Bell or Moe's. The staff could care less who they are serving. It's line a buffet line style of service and they just don't care.

If you don't know the name Chipotle, you've been missing out. Fresh ingredients and the best burrito and chips in town. Lines have been long since they just opened.

Huge fan of Chipotle, but the Destin chain does not have their grilled chicken recipe right... It taste under cooked and leaves a bad taste in my mouth every time I eat from this particular Chipotle... I don't have this issue in any other chains when I go to different states...
(1)Matt S.
Worst food ever !!!! Service was very slow ... Lone took 40 min .... Get to counter and they run out of chicken ??!!!! Really ??? First and last time there ... Too many better competitors in the Mexican arena !!
(1)K W.
Terrible! Absolutely terrible! Chicken was OVERLY burnt (not even edible), employees don't give a sh*t, and now my family and I all have stomach aches! I'm just not really understanding why every time we've been in there, there's always been an issue with something. Whether it's nastily prepared/cooked food or an employee who is rude, it's always something! Maybe if folks cared just a little more about their jobs & other people (aka customers) that pay their bills, I'm confident we would all be a little happier while visiting this location and more than likely wanting to come back. Not the case though. But that's okay, I'll never be back and neither will anyone else that I convince.

As always they serve great food and it's reasonably priced. We called in a to-go order, knowing that the line would be out the door. Showed up to pick up our food and the manager Julie informed us that she made our order, but wasn't sure about the details - apparently the online ordering system makes it unclear for the cooks what to actually make (tip - if you want double meat or anything of this nature, just call it in, don't order online). After we clarified, she made us a new burrito right there, despite the fact that over 30 people were in line. Great service and great food! Thanks!!

love their barbarcoa burrito with corn and hot salsa.

1st time at Commons. Two of us, both agree never again! Most of food was very bland, even pica de gallo adn guacamole, which you would not even know if blindfolded what you were eating. Unfriendly and not very helpful staff as they push your burrito or taco shell to the next person, don't explain anything. Occasionally would get a bite of cilantro, but not evenly distributed. chips and iced tea only good part about it! Truthfully, even if Taco Bell was same price I'd rather eat Taco Bell! 2 burritoes or 3 Tacos were $7.20, so price wasnt bad, but the extremely small quanity of meat was ridiculous! My taco was the pulled beef only 3 little strips size of little finger! You cant change quantity of order at all. So noisy could barely hear the servers, and when told them couldn't hear, doesn't get much better. Dining not quite as noisy, but some kind of "music" that you could only hear boom-boom bass. Concrete floors and no ceilings compound noise level, wasn't noisy customers. Never again we both said, adn we are locals, looking for another good place. Prefer LaPaz or Don Carlos at Santa Rosa Beach
(1)Damar T.
#1 destination for the commons! Sure they have a long line sometimes but what would you expect... it's Chipotle! Everybody wants it! I just can't leave this place alone! John is that dude along with an awesome staff brave enough to take on the rush of all these people lining up!
(5)Anne R.
I was pissed when I moved here a few months ago and realized we didn't have a chipotle. I am so obsessed with this place, so I was THRILLED when I found out the Chipotle was opening this summer! It's just great mexican food made with quality ingredients. Best Mexican place on the emerald coast!

I remember eating at one of these places in the '90s when I was just a poor recent college graduate. For some reason, my first visit was not very memorable, and I'm not exactly sure why. While my family usually will try to avoid chain restaurants, we opted to try Chipotle this time, since the hype is very evident these days. When we went inside, there was a line stretching around the perimeter of the restaurant. Don't let the line intimidate you, because it actually moves quite fast. What helps the line move fast is that the menu is very simple, and is pretty much based on customization. They have all the ingredients for your meal ready at the counter, so all they have to do is put it together for you. I ordered the burrito bowl while my wife and kids ordered tacos. I'm glad that I ordered chips and guacamole with my bowl, because for $6.50, the burrito bowl was quite tiny. Definitely not cheap for fast food, but I was quite satisfied with the freshness of the ingredients/food. Plus, Chipotle is dedicated to giving you a holistic dining experience, complete with organic foods and environmentally friendly building. My family almost never eats fast food (we haven't purchased anything from McDonalds in 5+ years), so for us to say that we liked a fast food restaurant should say a lot.
