I am so thankful to my hair stylist to have recommended 790! It turned out to be one of our favorite restaurants in Destin. Bonus points for it to be within a 5 minute walk from our condo. (how did we not know it was there?!?) We enjoyed it so much, we ate here the last 2 nights of our stay. By the end of the trip, I'll admit, I was a little seafood-ed out. The first night at 790 I ordered the meatloaf - delicious! So delicious, that the second night I opted for the other "homestyle" offering - the country fried steak. Again, just what the doctor ordered! There is outside dining that overlooks the ocean and an inside area as well. Live music was being played in both areas, but not so loud you can't enjoy your company and dinner. 790 is absolutely going on our "must go" list for our next trip to Destin.

The view is fantastic, the food and service average. Drinks are good, however, and the bartender and staff are pleasant. Ironically, the best meal I have had was a hamburger...not the fish they specialize in.
(3)Tom B.
The atmosphere was awesome but there service was lacking.
(4)Rick M.
Service was good, but probably some attention should go to the attire of the wait staff. Went after happy hour so many were still at the bar finishing up...pretty loud. We had two salads @$13...we weren't satisfied with the quality. Our expections were much higher because of the required $4 valet charge (they said the lot was full, so the car was parked under the building 50' away, which I could do). Maybe the happy hour is better, but we probably won't return to try in out. There are better places of better value.

My husband and I decided to try this after reading reviews on here, and the fact that it was just down the street from our condo. We ended up eating there for lunch AND dinner, and then lunch the next day. I think lunch is the best, and their happy hour specials are great. We have the stuffed mushrooms...fabulous, the meat pies...one of my favs, seafood tastes fresh, although another restaurant told us their food was frozen. Maybe they use some frozen food, but nothing we had, because it was all great. I wouldn't sit anywhere but outside, steps from the beach, and a lovely relaxed vibe. The service is typical of any beach location. It's laid back, not bad, really. They were nothing but nice, and the view is to die for!
(5)Jay J.
When guests come to visit us, we take them here. We've been many, many times since I wrote my initial review. There have been a few times they've gotten something wrong with the preperation or wait staff, but overall, 790 is worth it, if for nothing else, the ambiance and "on the beach" location. There is a more recent review (the one thats 6 or 7 paragraphs long) that highlights the indoor uncleanliness and wait staff's attire... we always eat outdoors but hopefully the management will read that review and take note.

It is unfortunate for me as this is my first 1 star review... more unfortunate for the restaurant as this will be brutally honest... I was in Destin this past weekend to celebrate with friends and looked up on trusty Yelp to find a good review for a restaurant in the area. Out of all the ones that came up on my BB this one caught my eye with the high ratings and one of the yelpers had gone with 7 in their party so I thought PERFECT! I have 7 in my party as well!! Now this was not just a dinner occasion but a birthday dinner nonetheless so I thought this is going to be great! We could not have been more disappointed. I will admit the view is great. Floor to ceiling windows definitely help and they do have outdoor seating (closed off the day I went because of a wedding party). However service is no joke slow.... They were not particularly busy but maybe not enough hands had something to do with it. Our waitress not only didn't come around often.. she often forgot what she was supposed to bring by the table once she did make it around. Based on the other yelpers the crab/lobster dip is indeed excellent. It is the only thing I would recommend on the menu. The food was mediocre but seemed horrible compared to how much we were paying for it. My sister got crabcakes and they came to the table burned and looking more like steak than crabcakes... The redfish was not tasty at all... If you're looking for a fancy place with just okay food than this is the place for you... Don't go expecting a lot and it will be okay... Also good to know is that it is Louisiana inspired restaurant so if you're looking for good ole seafood to eat this is not the place to go to...

Great atmosphere, enjoyed the live music. I had the jacked up chicken sandwich and it was delicious. My husband ordered the crawfish cake and said it was perfect. We could've eaten a whole bowl of the homemade croutons in the salad. Only negative was that our server disappeared after we got our food, but otherwise we loved it and would go back in a heartbeat!
(5)Kennie E.
Great food with a view.
(4)Tiffany C.
Great drinks. I had the steak quesadilla yesterday and it was amazing! I also recommend trying their bloody Mary's so yummy! This is a great place to heat a drink while lounging on the beach.
(5)Jeff M.
The food here is usually good, but it can be very inconsistent. The service is often bad. We have been here quite a few times in the last year or so, and once or twice had a good waiter, but often they just don't seem to care. I think this has the potential to be a lot better than it is. There are many reasons a restaurant can be inconsistent. I hope they fix it once and for all. We would be fairly regular customers if they do.
(3)Cara K.
GREAT HAPPY HOUR!! This place is awesome. Low-key, live music, on the beach. We had the grouper cheek sliders, sesame seared tuna and the crab bisque, all were wonderful. The New Orleans BBQ shrimp was very over cooked so we did not eat it but the sauce had authentic flavor. The service was great, we will be back whenever we are in town.
(5)Marilyn F.
Came for brunch with friends. Were seated outside as requested. Beautiful view! However, the wind was mildly blowing so the restaurant policy is to take down all the umbrellas. Ok, not a big deal.. Except it took nearly an hour and a half to get the food we ordered. Three breakfast menu items (basically just eggs) and a sandwich. Sitting in the sun is great when your waitperson comes by often to fill up your water..but she didn't. View, amazing. Food, fantastic. Service, meh. A total of 2 hours for omelets....unacceptable

Wow. I'd had this place bookmarked for a while, and couldn't wait to get over here and try it. I hate writing bad reviews, I hate it. But...wow. You can't beat the view this restaurant has. The outside patio has a completely unobstructed view of the beautiful Gulf of Mexico, and the furnishings are very classy. The dining room is nicely arranged and everything seems well though-out. I was impressed by the menu; the food varied from rich Creole to fresh Coastal fare. The bar was well stocked, offering good deals and interesting cocktails. But from here on out, the honeymoon's over. We went for Sunday brunch, and were both eating and drinking. Our party started with three people and grew to ten, which they assured us was not a problem. But the service was absolutely complacent. Our server would only take a few people's drink, food or refill orders at once, all but ignoring the rest of the group. Time between ordering a bottled beer or glass of wine and actually receiving it was more suited to the ticket times for an appetizer or dessert, at the very least. The table next to us was quickly becoming equally angry at the lack of service, and would attempt to go to the bar themselves to order, just as some of our party were attempting. I say "attempting" because they would soon come back, angry that no one was actually at the bar to serve drinks. Then our server would come back and blame the bartender's lack of professionalism for the order times. When I'd had enough, I asked for my check. When a quarter hour went by without getting it, I just laid my credit card out until our server took it. And was then informed ten minutes later that it had been lost. Needless to say, when they managed to find my credit card, run it and return it to me, I all but sprinted out of there, most likely never to return. I imagine that the next time I do, it will no longer be called 790 On The Gulf. Shouldn't take long.
(2)Ashley F.
Had the crab and shrimp cheesey app. Solid 3 stars. Honey had the Mahi Mahi fish tacos, 4 stars. Waitstaff tho....back at 3. This place should be listed as $$$. Sat out on the patio though on a gorgeous day overlooking the beach before we hit the sand for the day.
(3)Shay R.
Being from Louisiana, I should know better than to try a "Cajun" restaurant outside of south Louisiana. Fried Avocado and crab/shrimp parm dip was good. Gumbos, Grouper Acadian, and BBQ shrimp were extremely salty. Mediterranean salad was very good. Waiter was very rude. We sat outside at night and there are no lights. We couldn't see the menu or our food when it came. Didn't even have a light on the singer. Spoke with waiter and manager. Waiter apologized for his rudeness. Manager was very apologetic as well.
(2)Katie W.
Not my favorite place in the Gulf but food is 'ok' for price point. It's convenient if you're staying at The Inn, especially if you're not wanting to get out into the Destin traffic. Bacon blue-cheese mashed potatoes are amazing as is the new spicy crab, shrimp and cheese dip. Everything else is so-so. Desserts are amazing though, especially the salted Carmel cheesecake!
(3)Julie Y.
Great food and drinks! If the weather is nice enough sit outside. Every time I came here the food was on point and the drinks and service is 100%.
(5)Joe L.
What a wonderful place this is! The seating outside on the patio overlooking the gulf makes for a wonderful ambiance as we watched the sun go down. We had the Hurricane Shrimp & Gumbo for an appetizers. Both Delicious! Our Entrées included the Blackened Wahoo served with Shrimp Étouffée and Jambalaya. (apparently a new dish) keep on with this! Fried Plater with Mai Mai, Shrimp and Crab-Cakes. BBQ Shrimp Pasta. All absolutely fabulous. Service was also great. I will get back to 790 on the Gulf soon.
(4)Jason Q.
The prices on the menu and the prices that end up on your bill is completely different. There were 3 or 4 items that were incorrect. The restaurant would not honor the prices stated even though they were in the wrong. At least put a sticker over with correct prices. Another issue was the lack of attention our waiter gave us versus everyone else's waitstaff. It wasn't a busy morning and we still received no service until we asked another waitress for help. There is are many restaurants on the coast you will be happier with for the quality and prices.
(2)Cameron L.
Not bad but not great. Shrimp was rubbery but daughter loved Tropical Chicken Salad however poppyseed dressing tasted strangely like the smell of a McDonalds pickle. Kids meals were good and the ranch is "homemade" and delicious. As far as setting, it was a little too hot to sit outside with little breeze. Inside just ok.
(2)Jules W.
On the beach - check! Yummy seafood - check! Sit outside, beachside - check! We had a great time here - we placed our app order (fried avocado - helllooo!). And took a quick walk on the beach while we waited (yes, it's THAT close to the beach). We ate and ate some more - the entrees were quite good, too... A nice little beer selection - but took a star off since there is not a full bar (all of the mixed drinks are made with a wine base - no thank you). And our waiter was great - we had a small tinny issue with some wine, he took it right away and got us fresh drinks (beer this time). Oh, I almost forgot - the lighting outside on the tables is so neat - it's right on a wine bottle! Can't wait to go back...

I'm getting star happy here, but I truly do love this place. 4th of July weekend? Pissing rain like Florida summers tend to? Noon, no hope of crab island, the guy you're dating has been standing you up, and you and your crazy sister are bored? Well, this was my scenario. 790 on the Gulf saved my 4th of July by getting it started off right. From noon to 3 is bottomless mimosas, baby. Believe you me, my sister and I took advantage. Being Florida born and bred, we'd been through this rained out holiday scenario, and did what any good Florida girls would do- hit up the mimosas while watching the hotdog eating competition (Note: don't drink while you're watching this, it can make your stomach queasy). Not a day drinker? Well, allow me to let you know, they have excellent food. Any of their tuna plates are absolutely fantastic.
(5)Hannah R.
I went to brunch with my family and ordered the golden fried shrimp. When I received my meal there was a noticible hair on the plate. When I received the new plate the shrimp were not deveined. Things happen, but deveining shrimp is fundamental.
(1)Drew A.
Good restaurant in the middle of a hotel. I had the shrimp and crawfish gumbo and it was great. No filler. Casual dress which is awesome being this close to the beach. Kind of pricey for a casual restaurant. Food took FOREVER to get to us and the majority of the table for burgers.
(4)Albert P.
This restaurant has really good food and the seating outside overlooks the beach. If you're looking for a nice relaxing place to have lunch or dinner this is the place to be.
(5)Joe A.
Overall, it was a nice casual dining experience. This place is rather typical in that you pay a premium for the beach view. There was a musician playing mello jams which provided a nice accompaniment to a casual dinner. However, the biggest detriment to the ambiance was the parade of hotel guests in various stage of undress walking through the patio dining space. The guy returning from the pool with his board shorts hanging way too low made for an unappetizing and unwelcome intrusion. Frankly, if they don't install a separate beach/pool entrance for hotel guests, they should just scale everything back and advertise it as a true beach-side shack. The food was decent and the service was friendly, but slightly inattentive at times. For example, she brought the appetizer out and realized that we didn't have silverware. It took her a few minutes to get that for us so the appetizer cooled off. I had the Hurricane Shrimp which provided a nice combination of spicy and sweet. I then tried the Gumbo sampler. The chicken and duck gumbos were nothing to rave about, but the seafood gumbo was very good. The bread that accompanied the gumbo was very fresh and provided a tasty way to mop up the gumbo. My wife had the crabcake dinner and she said it was pretty good. It looked very full of crab with minimal filler. Her biggest complaint was the low table which made eating more challenging as she's 7 month pregnant. With all of the other choices in Destin, I'm not sure I'd return for dinner as it would be far better suited for a leisurely lunch or Happy Hour,
(3)Leigh P.
Food was over cooked and looked unappetizing. Went based on yelp reviews, but the quantity and quality for the price was extremely disappointing.

790 On the Gulf is the "upscale" sister of the 790 on Beale Parkway in Fort Walton Beach. (update, I believe the 790 on Beale Parkway is closed) The 790 on The Gulf has a good menu and fair prices for a waterfront restaurant. The atmosphere is good, although not great. It's simple in appearance. The food is good, but not great. And in the dozen or so times I've eaten there I've never had bad service. I've never had great service, either. The restaurant service has always been pretty fair, or better. I'm not referring to the bar...just the restaurant area. I think the menu prices are befitting the location. It's expensive to run a restauant on waterfront property, so people should expect to pay more for a dish served 100 feet from the Gulf than they do the same dish served 5 miles to the north. All that being said, I have to turn my attention to the bar. The bar is pathetic. It's one of the dirtiest, most disgusting bars I've ever seen. As a guy who tended bar for a few years in my college days I've seen my share of "sins" behind the rail. But most bars don't allow such filth and disorganization to stare the patrons in the eye while they sit and drink. The last time I was in the place was around the end of July. And the time before that was mid-June. When I was in there in June I noticed that all the bottles on the back bar were dusty and that the low bottle, three-tier shelves on either side of the bar were being used by the staff to sit their personal items, drinks, and dirty dishes on. When I went back in July it was obvious that nobody had wiped the bottles on top of the back bar since I'd been there in June, because they were still dusty and disgusting. They were still using the lower bar shelves to stack their trash, purses, and other items on. The bar staff are relatively unfriendly and unconcerned with the customers. If there's a manager in this restaurant he needs to be replaced, immediately. Nobody who cares about the success of that restaurant could walk in that bar space without taking notice of how poorly kept it is, and doing something about it. I saw no less than four staff members behind that bar the last time I was there, and no sign that anyone was concerned by the filth. One final note: I really don't like the way the wait staff dresses in this restaurant. It's a level beneath the menu and the waterfront location. The management needs to decide if they want a fairly upscale place, or they want the customers walking in in swim suits and t-shirts. The way the staff dresses really makes the restaurant a little more "dive" type venu than the menu would indicate. If you want to be another "crab trap," you might as well kick out the windows and let in the salt air. But if we're going to be a "cloth napkin" restaurant with valet parking, get your wait staff out of those trashy t-shirts and into something with a collar. Really, there are few restaurants in the county with such a fantastic location. This place should be packed during meal times...constantly. Whoever is running the kitchen is putting out a good product. But nobody is paying attention to the "finish" of the place, and quite frankly, the attitude of some of the staff (the bar staff) If they'd get someone in there who understands how to run more than just the kitchen I think this restaurant would be a gold mine. Food/Menu: 4 Stars Bar/Drinks: 1 Star Service: 4 Stars (restaurant) 2 Stars (Bar) Atmosphere: 3.5 Stars Location: 5 Stars Parking: 4 Stars (pretty good for a waterfront venue)
(3)Steve R.
SCAM!! There is NO LIQUOR LICENSE, you're being hustled people. I tended bar for a long time through grad school and knew something was amiss when our drinks arrived. The "full bar" is a crock, they use wine based booze with very little alcohol content and DO NOT DISCLOSE this to patrons. You're paying $9 for 'mimic cocktails' that have roughly the same alcohol content as wine. Now bend over even farther, cause they pour using metered counts, so each CROCKTAIL you buy isn't even equivalent to a standard 4oz glass of wine. If you're looking to loosen up over a few martinis, plan on violating the Geneva Convention with the amount of liquid you're gonna need to consume. Check it out yourself by reviewing the link below and notice "beer and wine' only. I hate being scammed out of my hard earned money, this BS left a taste in my mouth that superceeded the charred crab cakes....seriosly how do you mess up pan-frying a crab cake?! In the mood for over priced average food with a side of screw the customer, 790 is right for you! nwfdailynews.com/article…

The Happy Hour Appetizers are incredible! Very inexpensive and Great food. I love it here. Will be returning for my 3rd time.
(5)Irene C.
This place does not have a huge selection on the menu. But the food is good. Reasonable prices for Happy Hour. Place is right on the beach with seating outside and great veiw. It was too windy the day we went. Not very crowded and seemed like a silver haired crowd. Staff was very helpful.
(4)Frederick W.
My favorite area restaurant. I eat here very often. Great food at fair prices. Excellent atmosphere; especially on the patio which is right on the Gulf beach. Indoor air conditioned dining with panoramic Gulf view for when the sun gets too brutal. Service very good. Good bar especially during happy hours. Same menu and prices as at the original 790 North Beal in Ft Walton but far better view.
(5)Andree W.
WOW!!! Its my new favorite place on Crystal Beach. We loved the happy hour specials. There is truly no need to even order dinner with the portions and amazing prices of the special appetizers. We had the soft shell crab, which was pretty small for $6.50 but cooked well and tasted great (that was prob our least favorite). i got the BBQ shrimp. Very large portion, the sauce was excellent but the shrimp were tiny and very overcooked. It came with this delicious hot loaf of French bread for dipping. For approx $7-8 it was a deal. Hubby got the ribeye quesadilla. SO GOOD! That was a meal in itself. We did order dinners just to try them. Seafood platter was different than the norm and quite a good value. I must admit the crab cakes were awful, and did come out burnt and dry just like the other yelpers mentioned. I do not understand how they keep burning the crab cakes. I got grilled Mahi (kind of dry but tasted good). Overall experience was great! Like I said, a few of the food items were not perfect but for the HH prices for drinks and apps and with the windows overlooking the beach, its a really nice experience. Our waitress was the best. Loved the atmosphere, we walked there from our condo and will be sure to return year after year.
(4)Noah G.
Food okay, service good (waitress was great but busy), mimosas great, view was the best part!! Definitely recommend for that reason alone!
(4)Ryan Z.
Here on out last night for vacation. Absolutely did not live up to expectations... Very disappointed. While my meal was fine, my wife's Po-Boy was basically inedible. Bread not toasted and quite dry, greasy shrimp that tasted old, or if it was fried in rancid oil. Terrible service. We saw the waitress twice. When we ordered, and when we left. I'd never eat here again.
(1)Breanna K.
I've eaten here twice, loved the food each time. I am so obsessed with their shrimp and grits that I had 790 cater an event for me. We were very, very pleased with the quality, flavor, and price of their food at our party. Just splendid! We received so many compliments. They have a great happy hour and Sunday brunch! The service has always been excellent. This will be my new destin tradition. Try the gumbo!!
(5)Lauren D.
What a wonderful hidden gem! It's located inside a resort and you have to walk through the lobby to get there so it's kind of difficult to find but so worth it. Outdoor seating right on the water with a killer view, delicious drinks, excellent food, and an awesome happy hour. What set this place apart though was the service. I wish I could remember our server's name, she was seriously the sweetest and most genuine server I've ever had. Cute girl with long brown hair (if you're reading this, we were the 3 blondes that sat outside near the back corner on the same day as that wedding and left you a note on the receipt! You are AWESOME!). The owner also personally came over to chat with us and even offered to take our picture since he saw us struggling to take selfies lol. An overall wonderful experience and we will definitely be back!
(5)Nancy C.
Honestly, I don't know how this place got any stars at all. Extremely overpriced. I wouldn't mind paying those prices for good food but this food was the opposite of good. The gumbo was inedible. It tasted burned like it was several days old. The shrimp were rubbery and everything was completely flavorless. The view was the only saving grace but I still would never go back there. I can get that view elsewhere. Don't waste your time and lots of money. The only reason I'm giving it a star is because yelp won't let me post this review without a rating.
(1)Donna C.
Love this place and try to get here often! Fantastic diverse seafood menu. Louisiana seasoning with Florida seafood! Yummy! They have a hot shrimp dip, not always on the menu, that is super tasty, served with toast points! My FAVORITE is the bread pudding. The description sounded less than appealing but I tried it and it was the best I have ever had! Only thing bad to say is one time they brought it out without the bourbon sauce. My friends had ordered it cause I had been raving. Luckily I sent it back quickly to be "fixed". Love the daily (11a-3p) $9.99 unlimited mimosas or Bellini's! Makes for a great place to sit for a while. We usually have a group (4+) and have the same waiter.
(5)Sandi E.
This is my favorite beach side place to eat. You are right on the beach. Great happy hour and happy hour menu. Wine $3.50 and small plates under $10. Happy Hour 4-6 weekends and 4-7 weekdays. Don't miss the hurricane sprimp.
(5)Margaret H.
Skip this one. Ate there on 2/3/15. Ordered steak quesadillas from bar menu. Came to table faster than if we were at Krystal. Inside each section was meat the size of a quarter (one quarter had two the size of quarters) that appeared to be a thin slice of roast beef sandwich meat. It was cold. My friend ordered shrimp and grits and it was not good. Wine recommended was $27/bottle (reasonable for this location but too much to toss) and I had a part of a glass, brought it home and poured it out.
(2)Asher S.
View was great. Mojito was excellent. Blackened grouper sandwich was meh. So-so. Too much bread not enough grouper. Fish was seasoned but I wouldn't call it blackened. Gumbo was decent, but had much better. Fiancé had the grilled Mahi and sautéed spinach and she said it was really good. Service was average. Plenty of way better seafood restaurants in the area. We stopped at this one b/c the others were so crowded and parking was easy here. Lesson learned. Oh also! The grouper sandwich was part of the lunch special but I was charged the normal price $3 more but i didn't notice until after my card was run, so just let it go.
(3)P R.
The view is beautiful but the food is MEH. 790 North was serving cusk. They said it was a type of grouper. I grew up here on the gulf coast (45 years) and have eaten fish from and fished the local waters but never heard of cusk. We thought well we would trust them and try it. It was VERY FISHY TASTING not light and sweet tasting like grouper. I googled cusk - it is an eel like bottom feeder that is of NO relationship to a grouper. My husband has thought about calling the Fish and Wildlife Commission. No restaurant should blatantly lie about the fish to unknowing customers. Won't go back- buyer BEWARE.
(2)C M.
First thanks to the hostess for getting us seated albeit a tight fit. Better than the 2-top under the stairs that we were first shown to. Thought it would be a finer dining experience; guess I should have taken a hint from the plastic Pepsi tumblers out water was served in. The fried platter is substantial; yet, the shrimp had an off taste. The clams were great. The bisque was wonderful. The gumbo is overly peppered such that it is the only thing one tastes. The stuffed crab on the grouper medallion was WAY too salty. The potatoes were cold. One reviewer stated the service can be bad at times. This was one of those times. Surly like he's doing us a favor. Not a good close to out last night in Destin. Maybe if it had not been raining the ambience of eating outdoors would have clouded opinion.
(1)Rachel M.
Excellent atmosphere sitting outside. The crab cakes were so good and much larger than expected. My husband's Mahi Mahi sandwich was late because it didn't meet the standards of the chef. That is unheard of in today's hustle and bustle table turners. Once it arrived it was cooked perfectly. Our kids enjoyed the live music and our service was great! We will be back to 790 on the Gulf for sure!!
(4)Dawn S.
Food was burnt. They advertise fresh gulf shrimp but they were clearly previously frozen store bought. I would wager they buy them from Sams club. We waited 2 hours once we placed our order. There are too many great resturants in town to suffer through this one. Leave this one for the tourists who are stranded out there with no car.
(1)Stacy M.
The best place on the Gulf we've been to during this trip. It's a hidden gem, on the bottom floor of the Crystal Dunes Condominiums. We were a party of 8, which is really difficult to seat in the Destin & Miramar Beach restaurant scene. They were able to seat us right away, there were only 3 other parties inside the restaurant. There was outside dining but one of the people in our party doesn't like to eat outside because she thinks a bug will fly on her mouth. Outside dining was gorgeous and romantic. With live music and a view of the beach. Very nice place for a romantic dinner. Had great service with Chelsea, she was very attentive and knowledgable of the menu. We ordered smoked tuna, chicken livers and fried avocados for appetizers, AMAZING! Ordered Mahi blackened, chicken fried chicken, tenderloin, duck & andouille gumbo and Jacked Up Chicken for entrees, all AMAZING! It was great experience for our family, were all very picky eaters and some of us are foodies so I highly recommend this place of you like Cajun style food and seafood. You won't go wrong!!
(4)Trang N.
I can only attest for the happy hour menu, but it was excellent! The seared tuna was perfect and only $7. You can't beat that! The patio is right next to the beach and gives you a great view,
(5)Janet S.
Beautiful view, friendly server who really went above and beyond when my kids got cold sitting outside. The food came out slowly but was Delish when it arrived!
(4)Sali C.
Went to enjoy lunch before family left for the airport. Since they were going back to 15 degrees I wanted them to see sun and ocean. They did along with a wonderful meal. A Caesar salad with grouper and a ribeye blue cheese salad. Both delightful. Waitstaff friendly and helpful.
(5)Lori M.
Good food. I had blackened Mahi sandwich and gumbo. It was really good. My daughter had chicken tenders and cantaloupe, which she devoured. My son had a great cheeseburger. Everyone enjoyed their meal. Service was good. The restaurant is located inside of a resort. The decor of the restaurant is outdated and worn, but we weren't there for decor! We were able to get a table by the windows so we could see the ocean.
(4)Matt C.
Very great date spot with a patio overlooking the golf. The service was a little slow but they were busy. I would recommend to anyone who is craving done seafood with a view. Good options for fish and shrimp that were not just deep fried.
(4)Brian B.

The service was very slow (there weren't many ppl there, so it wasn't bc they were busy). Other than that, the food was pretty good and the happy hour drinks are at a great price!

Great happy hour and view in the warm weather. Outside patio is beautiful and the happy hour appetizers are decent.

What are these people thinking?? Are they eating dirt?? Ok so compared to dirt this place would be 5 stars. Crunchy chicken livers? Blackened crab cakes? You can't charge me close to $20 a plate and not expect me to have issues when the crab cakes were burnt, dry, and FLAT. I make better crab cakes than this establishment. I told the waitress to take it away. Luckily, I had only picked at the sides so she took it off my bill. I also had to tell the waitress that my entree came with a side salad which she forgot to bring out. Thanks! We were excited about the happy hour specials but the drinks taste like garbage. If you like drinking icy Robitussin passing as a strawberry daiquiri, by all means go ahead and order it. Disgusting. DO NOT come here unless you like to waste your money on crappy food. Never again.

We plopped down for a short impromptu lunch here on our last day of vacation, and I'm so glad we did. I was on the hunt for a good grouper sandwich and I noticed that was their special the day before. I inquired about it to our sweet waitress. She gladly checked with the kitchen, and they obliged. I must say that it was one of the best grouper sandwiches I've ever had. Fresh, flavorful, and accompanied by perfectly cooked yam fries. Mmm mmm mm! Not only was the menu robust and attractive, but service was top-notch. Our waitress was super sweet and patient with my two elderly grandparents and checked up on us just the right amount. A+!

Best food and best food value in Crystal Beach Destin area. The Food is fresh and very tasty. The service is excellent. Very bad web page design. I looked at the menu online and didn't want to go. Maybe it's the brown color of the web page or that it said "Cajun and Seafood". I'm from Louisiana. I didn't want "Cajun" I wanted Floridian food. We went for a late lunch .I am so glad we did. Most food is NOT Cajun, but it is very good. The staff is "upfront" about their menu choices and restaurant policies. I ordered endless Bellini or mimosas special. I told as soon as I tried to order this,by our waitress, that it ended at 3p.m. so I only had 40 minutes left on the special. I decided that for only $6.99 if I got one refill it would be a great deal. If I only got one glass it was about the same price as a glass of wine. We ordered a cup of "Award Winning" Duck & Andouille Gumbo. It was the only thing we ordered that looked "Cajun" to me . We ordered the cuo of gumbo and the Sesame Crusted Seared Tuna as appetizers. Then for lunch a Fillet of Mahi Mahi, and the Salmon Burger which was the lunch special. It was all very good. The seafood was fresh and prepared well. Great value for a meal. Nice ambiance. We dined there again for the Sunday Lunch. It was even better. They had a Pianist playing as we ate very good food and had excellent service. You should try it.

Went here for a businnes dinner on the recommendation of our hotel. The sevices was very slow. Our waitress was polite, just never around. The food could best be described as "Disney Family Restaurant - Circa 1996". It felt like the same mass produced, fried, tasteless stuff that you'd pay $19.95 at Disney World 15 years ago, except now you get to pay $29 for it here. The views were great from outside, from inside you see nothing. The margaritas we acceptable, but not great. For almost $100 for two people with a couple of drinks, you should be able to do much better. If you do decide to go here, a diner at a nearby table said that the "Red Beans and Rice" were very good. I love Red Beans and Rice, but I wouldn't go back to try it.

We went to 790 for dinner. Great happy hour prices, but once it's over the prices are more-than doubled. Food was okay, for the price. We had reservations, but waited almost ten minutes for a hostess to show us to our seat, and they were not even busy. Pretty view of the beach, but by no means classy or romantic.

Great view! This is our go-to place to take out of town guests. We love to Eat on the outdoor patio. We are having our rehearsal dinner here, and could not be more pleased with the service we've recieved so far. Compared to other places in the area, they were able to provide us a wide menu selection at a more than reasonable price! Could not ask for more.

I'm a local, and 790 has the best happy hour in town, and the view can't be beat. The previous reviewer that stated 790 does not have a liquor license may have been correct then (June 2011), but they definitely have their liquor license now--and they are not skimpy with the drinks. The happy hour eats are great and they change that menu every couple of weeks. Their fried avacado is addictive. I have never had a bad meal here and dine here often, as many other locals do.

We had lunch on a weekday and it was great. It's a little hard to find since in the on the ground floor a condo, but has big picture windows overlooking the gulf (and outside seating which we didn't try). The waitstaff were very attentive. We had the Sesame Crusted "Seared" Tuna. Very fresh and delicious but you may want to ask for a slight more sear. The duck and andouille was also very good. For our entree my wife had the Salmon Cake and Spinach and I had the Mahi Mahi. The cake was salmon poached with herbs and seared (no breading). It was excellent. The Mahi Mahi was good, but a bit safe given the taste of all the other food we had. All in all, 790 on the Gulf is the best restaurant in Destin.

Had a lovely business lunch on the patio at 790. It was a recommendation for good Louisiana inspired cuisine and I was pleasantly surprised to see a lot of Cajun dishes on the menu, and you can't beat the view. I ordered my lunch, then walked right down the steps to the white powder sand. I strolled in the water for a bit, only to return to a great meal. Excellent service, as well.

The food is great. We went on Mother's Day, so the service was a little slow. I'm not sure if it's on the regular menu, but the bread pudding is wonderful!!! If the service had been better it would b 5 stars. I'll go again on a none holiday, and check it out again.

Asians, do not come here. This is not the seafood we're used to. This is more a New Orleans style food...think creole/cajun. They have lunch specials at cheap prices, but the waiter let me know that the portions were small, like appetizers. So, to avoid being hungry, I opted for a regular meal. I chose a shrimp creole dish that came with rice. It did not taste bad, but once I was through with the shrimp, the rice with the sauce was a bit too...saucy? They use an Uncle Ben's type rice which I am sure is normal for New Orleans style dishes. I had asked if the rice was the white sticky kind, and he had said yes, but Uncle Ben's is definitely not white sticky rice. Now, at first after eating, I felt full. However, the meal ended up leaving me hungry still a half hour later. This was the same for everyone else that ate, too. I used Yelp to find this place, under "seafood", but this was definitely not what I had in mind. I had a hard time finding something to eat in the menu because I was very unfamiliar with the dishes. I think if you like New Orleans style food, you might like it, otherwise, skip it. I would not return. However, the view is awesome. It is beachside and like a previous review, choose the larger tables away from the edge if you decide to go here.
