Pizza
Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

As a local Deland resident we have ordered pizza (take out) many, many times from Tony's. Love the pizza and the garlic knots are to die for. Personally I do find that the pizza is a bit underdone at times and the crust is a bit doughy. So I always order my pizza well done and that solves the problem. We have not been to Tony's for quite sometime so I feel it important to note why. First, the parking is basically nonexistent. There are a few spaces next to the building but they are always taken by what seems to be the employees and none of these spaces are for the handicapped. There is some off street parking along New York Avenue but, depending on where you manage to find a spot, it is quite a walk from the restaurant. Being that I'm handicapped it's really hard for me to go to Tony's to pick up my take out order because of the lack of parking. They need to have some parking next to the building of which at least 1-2 spaces need to be handicapped spaces. Second, their prices. A large pie with 3 toppings runs about $20-$22. The pizza is good but the cost is rather high for this community of retirees, students from Stetson and plain ole normal folk. Part of the reason we haven't ordered in quite awhile. It's sometimes hard to afford a $22 pizza. Third, ordering over the phone is sometimes torture. I believe most of the staff are Stetston students and its a part time job for them. Sometimes you call and get placed on hold for long periods of time or they forget to pick up altogether and you have to call back through. Finally after all that several of the pies I've gotten over the last several years have been wrong. Since my husband, who's not handicapped went to pick them up for me when he can due to the parking issues, he doesn't always know what I order. Once home I would discover that the order was wrong. I called and they made it right one time with a free pie the next time we had an order with Tony's but the other times I just went ahead and ate what came home. So a word of warning - check the pie before you leave to make sure it s right. All in all the food at Tony's is good but pricey and a horrible pain with parking.

Excellent pizza, great staff, lunch is served quickly parking is a challenge but ok considering.

This place reminds me of what an old Italian restaurant should be I really liked it both times I've stopped in. The service was great the pizza was fantastic lots of stringy cheese nice crust and fresh toppings. I have no reservations recommending this place to anyone. I would say it's the best in the area. I've heard many of my friends say if you eat pizza in Deland you should be eating it at Tony's nice job guys.

Was in there tonight and the place had a steady flow of customers even at 7 pm. There's no question as to why.... The food is great and the service is fast and friendly. My husband and I both had spaghetti, mine with meatballs, his with sausage. Both dishes served with salad and those wonderful garlic knots! The spaghetti was hot and plentiful, the meatballs, phenomenal, the sausage flavorful and we both had plenty to take home. This was the right place for dinner tonight!

Best gravy in town! Wonderful NY Style pizza and pasta dishes! And the garlic knots, to die for!

If I could, I would go 5 stars for atmosphere and three of four for food. That said, this is my favorite pizza joint just about anywhere. The pizza is thin, NY style with an awesome chewy crust. I'm a big fan of the white pizza, too, though they often run out of slices of it. The salads are nothing impressive, but the other things I have tried were quite good, including a calzone the size of my forearm. I love this place.

I've been here a total of two times and I absolutely love this cute little pizza joynt! It's very casual and laid back with a relaxing atmosphere. This is a good place to come for lunch/dinner with anyone and everyone. Also, I would suggest ordering the whole pizza instead of going "by the slice" because somehow (I could be wrong, but this was my experience) the whole pizza is baked fresh and the 2nd time I came when I ordered "by the slice" it wasn't as good as the first time. Maybe the fact that the pizza slice was served "warm" and not "hot" could've been it. I was slightly disappointed the 2nd time because it wasn't as good as the first but it was still good. The cheesy garlic bread is delicious! Tiramisu is kinda dry. I haven't tried anything else but I would def come back here again if I'm ever in the area.

Best. Pizza. Ever. Doesn't matter which one you get... it's alll great.
(5)Ruthie L.
Absolutely the best spaghetti! The Italian sausage is also wonderful. Staff is friendly and attentive. It's as good as it gets.
(5)Lita G.
The pizza is very good, for an american pizza. So far the best we've tried in Deland. The white pizza is pretty darn good.

Tony's is good for great pizza, excellent Greek salad, yummy garlic knots, and outstanding service. This is just one of those places that makes you feel right at home from the first time you walk in - warm, homey atmostphere and a welcoming smile from the servers. The pizza is very tasty and is thin so the toppings shine! They're located in the historic part of DeLand so parking is challenging, just be prepared for the weather if you have to walk.

This is the kind of place that makes you want to order spaghetti and nudge meatballs toward your dinner partner with your nose. But, I'm a sucker for exposed brick walls and super Italian looking guys named Tony. A respite from the Chili's-laden shopping plaza monotony that seems to dominate the area. The complimentary garlic knots were pretty good, and the staff was attentive and genuinely friendly. I like my pizza boring and cheese dominant and that's what we got. It did taste a wee bit burnt - but still decent. Although the taste didn't blow me away, the price was right, with a large and 3 sodas for just over $15. The lunch specials were tempting too: two slices of cheese (Or one slice and a salad) with a soda for $3.99 or meatball sub fries and salad for $4.99 I'd go back and sample other menu items if it wouldn't take a two hour plane ride.

Tony is a great guy and good friend of mine originally from NY of course! He happens to have the best pizza you can manage to get your hands on in Florida, so do not hesitate! Good pizza is a true RARITY in Florida ANYWHERE
(4)Randy B.
AWESOME! The Pizza is great and so is the Stromboli. Tony is a great guy and is out to make sure you enjoy your visit. The food speaks for itself... try it. You won't be dissapointed!

I ate here with friends during a recent trip to Florida. This is easily the best pizza in the area that I've tried, though the service seems a little lacking. We shared a large bruschetta pizza which was delicious, and full of spinach, basil, garlic, and cheese. We also shared a garden salad, which had cucumbers, tomatoes, onions, and black olives. The veggies seemed very fresh, and the balsamic dressing was very tasty. The tiramisu dessert was good, but not what I would consider true tiramisu. The complimentary garlic bread was excellent as well.

Tasty pizza place in downtown DeLand. Stopped in on a busy Sunday night and ordered a couple of beers and a large pizza. Service was a little slow at times, but they were very busy with a wait. We were served warm garlic rolls before the pizza came out. The pizza was hot, fresh, and good.

First time I checked this place out. Glad I did! Great atmosphere and the staff is super friendly and outgoing. The pizza, it was fantastic! Some of the best around. I'll definitely be going back. Their prices are comparable to most pizza joints but the quality of food is 5x better!

We love their pizza and wings. Best place in this town!!! The staff is great. We have never been disappointed .

This hit the spot after a day spent drinking with my retiree mother and her crazy senior-living friends. Thin crust pizza is the only pizza as far as I'm concerned, and Tony's does it well. It could be thinner and crispier for my liking, but they get a nice chew on the dough and their sauce/cheese/toppings ratio was on the mark. It tasted even better since I got it carryout and enjoyed it a short walk away at Persimmon Brewing.

This place provides excellent service!! First off, the dinner starts off with garlic knots. They are fresh and tasty. Dinner was the chicken parm. It comes with more garlic knots and a salad. The sauce was a little light with the dinner, but I was able to use the left over from the garlic knots. The sauce was somewhat thin and a tad on the sweet side. Chicken tasted thawed and as busy as it was I thought they could have used fresh chicken. The prices were great. Again, great service!

Oh LAWDDDDDD, the pizza is on point...so yummy...very clean, staff is kind and professional. I was given a soda while waiting for my take out and that simple gesture really kept me coming back, the staff is always checking on you, making sure your ok...it does get busy and it's just a fun atmosphere...The pizza is SO SO good. I am pizza crazy, so I really am into finding the best pizza restaurants, and this is one of them.

Family place with good basic Italian food at a fair price.

Since this place had such great reviews, my husband and I were eager to try it. I don't think I have ever been so disappointed in a restaurant. We stopped in at 2:30 pm on Friday afternoon. There were a few tables, but the place was not what I would call busy. Our table was sticky. There was a rag sitting on the table next to ours, so I grabbed it and wiped the table. There was a thick layer of grease and dust on the ceiling fans overhead, and the wine bottle decorations on the wall just above our table had a thick layer of dust as well. When a restaurant is that dirty in the front, I shudder to think what the kitchen looks like. We waited for 10 minutes before we could even get water. We ordered a 14" Bruschetta Pizza, which is supposed to have olive oil, garlic, basil, tomatoes, spinach, onions, mozzarella cheese, and feta cheese. after nearly 30 minutes we finally got the pizza. I don't think there was any olive oil, garlic, or basil on the pizza, and it was very light on cheese. The tomatoes and spinach were flavorless, and the crust was hard as a rock. All we could taste were the raw onions. It was by far the worst pizza I've ever had. The price for this pizza was $16.99. We could have gotten a Papa Johns "The Works" pizza delivered for less than what this pizza cost, and it would have been much, much better (And I am not a big fan of Papa John's pizza). We had to ask for silverware and napkins, and the waitress didn't return to ask if the food was okay for over 15 minutes. When I told her it was terribly bland, she said she was sorry to hear that and told me to pay at the counter. Then she gave me her employee discount, which was about 10%, to make up for the long wait and bad food, and muttered something about it being the fault of the new guy in the kitchen. She never even acted like she might tell someone we were unhappy with our food, even though we had seen the owner on the premises. We will not be returning!

I've never heard any bad reviews about their pizza and we've been wanting to try it for over 2 years now...tonight was the night and it was delish! Only downfall is that they don't deliver BUT is worth the 2 mile drive to pick up :)
(5)Sunil J.
One of the best pizza places in the area. Garlic knots are a must and the salad is pretty good too. Have yet to be disappointed by any of the pizzas I've ordered. Wish they were open a little later though but can't have everything.
(4)Shane C.
Really this place has it all. Brick walls. check. Old italian guy roaming around wiping down tables, refilling drinks, bussing tables. check. Good italian menu. check. REAL coke products not pepsi. check. Homemade soups, salads, pizza, calzones. what else you want. they make. and it's good. Open seating restaurant. It has a throwback family feel that you don't see in many restaurants today.

To be honest, I wasn't optimistic as this was one of only two downtown places open on Monday evening. But they got many things right. As a pizza joint, they had marinara (AKA red gravy in Philly) for my cheesesteak, which others often miss. Bread was delicious, with just the right crunch. Servers were friendly, helpful, and attentive. Food took a few minutes to prepare; instead you might I patronize a "fast food" chain where it's usually neither fast nor real food. My experience here was pleasant. Recommended.

So glad I found this place. Moved to Deland a year ago from Long Island, NY. I was warned you could not find real pizza. This place is awesome. Everyone is always so nice. The owner is always pleasant. When he waited on me the first time threw in a couple of bottles of soda and garlic knots. He still throws in a discount or a free item every now and than when I go in. They are always busy too! Especially on the weekends. It is worth the wait. Portions are a good size for the price. Just have gotten take out. Next time we are going to try dining in. Highly recommended!

Worst shrimp scampi I've ever had. The 6 tiny little shrimp were way over cooked and dried out, and it had so much lemon juice that's all I could taste. The garlic knots were hard & tasted like they were cooked last week. After spending $30 I'm feeling pretty ripped off.

Great food HORRIBLE SERVICE. Fresh bread dropped at the table. Amazing calzones and lasagna. The waitress had no service industry skills had an attitude when it came to paying after the meal there's a register you pay at and if you don't know that waitress will treat you like crap loved the food but I will def not be going back there thanks to the service

Great little Italian restaurant. Love their pizza but the dinners are pretty tasty as well. It's located in downtown Deland and you'll probably need to walk from where you parked but it's worth it. Service is friendly and efficient and portion sizes are decent. If you go on a weekend night you may have to wait for a table but usually it's a short wait. The owner is a real nice guy. The first time I ate there with my wife for lunch I mentioned the crust was really tasty. He took me in the kitchen and showed my how they made the crust. Just a genuinely nice guy who is proud of his restaurant. It's a great place to eat and then browse the shops of downtown Deland.

This pizza is one of the best local Italian places in DeLand. The pizza slices are generous in size and the lunch specials simply cannot be beat with my favorite being the two slices of cheese pizza and a soda for $3.99! The sauce is spiced well and featured with your complimentary garlic knot, your parmigiana subs, and your spaghetti and goes equally well with each. The pizza slices are thin and hold their own even with a variety of toppings stacked on top. The waitstaff is genuinely friendly and Tony himself is often seen milling about surveying the restaurant. The delivery options are limited, serving a small area and only in the evenings, but it's worth it to stop by and eat with the din of conversation and exposed brick walls in the historic part of DeLand. Parking is adequate and located nearby, but take an umbrella if it is raining, as you may have to walk a half a block or so. If you're dying to eat at home, take out is prompt and well-packaged. Keep in mind, that there is a $5 minimum on credit card purchases, so if you're looking to buy a lunch special on your own, take some cash.

Great Pizza. I especially like the Bruschetta Pizza. You must be warned that it is extremely oily. I also like the Greek Salad. Go and enjoy a garlic knot while you wait.
(3)Keith O.
Even though my silverware was caked with food. I didn't need it to eat my pizza. The pizza crust here is crispy so you can eat it without it flopping down and have the cheese slide off
(3)Jennifer J.
This is such a homey little place to eat. I always get the tomatoe and mozzarela salad and their homemade soups. It's a great buy and you leave stuffed. I love to support a family owned business and this one is a great one to support.
(5)Joshua N.
I should probably give them four stars for putting up with my Grandfather. Seriously, I think waitresses in hell get my grandfather as their sole costumer. Anyway, the food is passable for DeLand (does DeLand have somewhere *good* to eat, if so, I'm still looking). I really liked the crust on the Pizza, crispy on the outside a little chewy on the inside, tasty. The sauce and the cheese were fairly tasteless though. I *did* enjoy their greek salad (warning their small is large enough for 2-3 people) with roasted red peppers, and lots of big chunky fresh vegetables. All in all a decent place for DeLand. I'm sorry about the hug card.
