Excellent food, excellent service. Try the veal Marsala you will not be disappointed. Also the bread is baked in house everyday and is delicious

This place has the best German food I have had!! Have to go back on a Sunday or Wednesday to have the potato pancake. Great service too!

Let me start by saying Emmy is awesome she has always been there when I've eaten here you will know her as soon as you walk in the door. I love real German Food I don't know where you can find it in this area but here, but I had to try the steak this visit and I was not disappointed my ribeye was perfect it is served hot sitting in au jus such favor - ok for the experience it's no frills so dinning is easy no fancy salads pick one or all three marinated cucumbers, tomatoes or cabbage yummy! Then the homemade soup comes out and of course plenty of fresh bread this place know what good food and service is about. This place is a little out of the way but that's fine by me we have always had a great experience it's a happy happy place

Having a really disappointing time here. Food was way over cooked. It was hard to get refills on drinks. Wasn't even that busy, have seen it busier. They forgot someone in my parties salad and took forever to find my guy to get it. Just all around disappointed. Got two stars because I have been going here for years but the last few times have not been that great. Oh well....

This place is simply amazing. The food is delicious and portions are huge. The rump roast is smothered in onions and savory juices. The German potatoes are different and delectable. The grilled prime rib is tender and not overly fatty. Emmy is a wonderful host. The restaurant is immaculately clean and pretty. The entertainment, a German song/band, was so good and created a very festive atmosphere. We had a great time dancing and doing the polka. We'll be back to Emmy's real soon.

This is my favorite restaurant in DeLand . I don't even want to review it because I don't want to share it . Fresh, every time . Most wonderful prime rib I've ever enjoyed. I always order the king cut so I can enjoy the next day as well. The only thing I'd change is I wish it were more spacious , but then it might change the dynamic .

Great food. Awesome value. Lovely owner. Emmy is a beautiful, elegant, friendly, blonde model masquerading as a restauranteur. And she does a fantastic job of serving up delicious meals in a quirky out-of-the-way building that is packed with locals every night. Without any discernible advertising, just word of mouth to draw her loyal and thankful patrons. She never sits: she is always working, spending the entire evening seating her guests, walking around and constantly checking in with every table, all while smiling that big welcoming smile of hers that makes us feel like we're guests in her home. The food is superb. Thursday rib night is our favorite. A wonderful 3-course meal of soup, salad, then the main course consisting of a large, beautifully-prepared and perfectly-cooked, tender center cut off a marvelous boneless rib roast, hot-and-tasty baked potato, and fresh-baked bread. And real butter. We always like to take friends - this trip one couple ordered the huge pork shank and the jäger - wow! Large portions of very-well prepared dishes at very popular prices make us want to come back again and again. We love this place. The only reason we don't give Emmy 5*'s is we so wish she would modernize and freshen her restrooms. Nevertheless, we try to find reasons to go back as often as we can.

I like Emmy's. I only go there on Wednesday, because that's the only day of the week when they have German food.It is really good, the sides are as authentic as it gets, My favorite is der Eisbein. The tables are a little too close together, and some parents think it's okay to bring an exhausted two-year old, suck down beers or cocktails while they ignore the cranky kids. I know, this stuff happens everywhere, but the close proximity at Emmy's exacerbates the issue. Want some streudel? You better come during the month of October, because that's when Emmy's sister is in from Germany, and makes it for the restaurant. Otherwise, you're stuck with more standard desserts.

We drove over 40 miles to try the German food after having been told how good it was. We started off with a hearty bowl of vegetable beef soup followed by a sampling of tomato, cabbage, and cucumber vinegar salads. Finally our Wiener Schnitzel was served which very tender and a large enough portion for two. The side of German potatoes were delicious. My only concerns came when I witnessed a waitress place to many tomatoes on a salad plate so she used her bare hand to take one off the plate and toss back in the container of tomatoes. Also, I saw a bus person reach a piece of steak off an dinner plate in the dirty dishes and eat it. You gotta wonder about some people .

This is a small family run place. The food is traditional German and German american classics. The portions are large and every meal comes with salad and soup. ***Warning: THIS IS NOT A PLACE FOR VEGETARIANS!***q Like, not even a little bit. My date loved the meat dishes! The bread is amazing. The salads are pretty fantastic. Potato pancakes are delicious, but are only on Sundays. Wednesday is when the full German menu is offered. I would enjoy checking that out. Biggest happy point: The service is the best. Emmy herself checks on you, you will not have want and will immediately feel like a guest in a family home.

Emmys is "da bomb!" If you are looking for German food. My wife and I go for the schnitzel - Jäger Schnitzel is my favorite- veal or pork. It reminds me of my Austrian mother in law's cooking, very authentic! The cucumber salad is awesome, the sliced tomatoes add to it too. The prime rib gets kudos from friends and looks very good. Service is fast and friendly, after a couple of visits they remember your name! An absolute favorite!

We've been going to Emmys for over 8 years. Truly DeLands best kept secret. The prime rib is awesome but the pan fried grouper is even better. Emmy is an outgoing and gracious host and goes out of here way to make you feel welcome. Try to get there early as they get busy during the weekends around 6-7. Please only tell good friends about this place it hard enough to get in as it is. :)

We went to Emmys one time last year, had German food and really loved it. I read a few good reviews on google, tripadvisor and the urbanspoon about the prime rib and being a Foodie critic, I decided to try it out. I and a fellow Foodie went there on Friday night the 27th and was greeted by Emmy. She was very gracious. She led us to a small booth near the back with a view of a refrigerator. They were busy yet the front dining area was not being used for some reason. Our waitress was very abrupt in her service. My tomato salad was tasty except for the unripened inedible slices. Our prime rib looked delicious. The outer rim of the prime rib was tasty and we couldn't wait to dig into the center. It was as hard as a rock even though it looked medium rare. Our waitress never came back to see if we wanted another glass of wine. She never asked us if we wanted dessert. Emmy stopped by and I told her about the salad and the prime rib. She apologized and explained that the prime rib is very large and she was sorry. We asked for to go boxes and the waitress brought them along with a complimentary styrofoam cup full of more tomato salad. Emmy was trying to make it right. We were given one to go au jus and when my friend asked for another one since we have 2 leftover steaks, our waitress snapped that we were already given one. We were given our check still without asking if we wanted dessert. We left and spoke to Emmy on the way out about the terrible service. Attached is one picture of a clump of long blonde hair that was in the tomato salad we brought home. Neither of us have long blonde hair but our waitress does. I gave this cup to my son to eat since he loves tomatoes. Thankfully he did not eat it before it was noticed. Our bill was $40 ish so I wasn't going to waste the meat. I cut it into chunks and put it in with my pot roast for Sunday dinner. After simmering for hours it was tender enough to eat. I posted this on their FB page

Apparently this place used to be good. Our first sign of that not being the case would be that the last time they won a award was 5 years ago. Tables who sat after us left before us. A quarter of their menu is only available on Wednesdays, maybe have an insert for Wednesdays instead of presenting it at all times for your customers. And you would think they'd be well stocked on everything else, but no. Definitely won't come here again. The only thing good was the drinks

This was actually the second time I had been to Emmy's. The first time was years ago before I was Yelping :) But yeah, you may see the outside and think it's some old questionable roadhouse, but this place is great. They don't really have a menu, there's just select few items to choose from every night. Both time I went was on a night that one of the items was prime rib. And I'm here to tell ya.....it's one of the best prime ribs I've ever put in my mouth. They have a queen cut or a king cut.....next time, I'm definitely getting the queen because the king is enough for a few meals! But I really loved the german soup, german salad, and german potatoes. All the staff was very friendly and personable, and we had great service. The atmosphere is definitely pretty cool as well with the german outfits that some of the staff is wearing, and all the family crests, and german artwork, etc. Would really enjoy coming back some time for their Octoberfest to drink lots of beer and watch the polka bands! I definitely will be going back the next time I'm staying with my friend down in DeLand.

Another "hole in the wall" local secret favorite hidden gem in DeLand that's been around for many, many years and has lasted only because of "word of mouth", no advertising needed. The food and service are excellent and the ambiance is festive. Try it, you will not be disappointed!

This is one of my favorite places in central Florida. This is where you can find countless number of untold stories, and prime rib Thursday is when you should visit.

I had lived in DeLand for 23 years before I went to this place. Last time I was home, my folks decided that we should go out there. "There?" I said. "You mean that dingy bar down by the tracks?" Yes, that one. What a surprise. Excellent authentic German food at this complete hole in the wall. The lady running the place knows her stuff. Great German beer selection, excellent sides (the cucumber salad and red cabbage are amazing), and great great schnitzel (the jager schnitzel is excellent). For anyone not feeling European food, their prime rib is also delicious. What a great find; don't be turned off by the outside. If you want to impress someone by looking like a real local in the know, this would be the place.

Emmy's was fantastic! Every dish comes with a marinated salad, beef soup and home made bread. I had saurbraten with red cabbage and spatzle. Totally delicious and more than I could possibly eat. When I fly to FL, I usually fly via Jacksonville, but, from now on I will fly to Orlando so that I can stop at Emmy's for dinner :)
