A little tucked away but a good find when you get there. Their soups are the best, a special everyday but try the Chicken Velvet Soup first. Hot & cold sandwiches & Reubens etc. Pretty inexpensive too.

Hidden gem. This place's name describes it best, although it is hard to find. It is hiding in an old mall section of downtown deland. It is clean and very well kept. The food is amazing and their specialty is the soup. I talked to the manager B, and he informed me that the neighboring coffee shop tried to steal the recipe. Lol. 2 regular flavors are chicken velvet and red velvet. I got red velvet in a bread bowl. I was singing OMG like usher the whole meal. It was fantastic! This is the kind of place that yelp was created for. If you are in deland try and find cooks cafe. It is yelperific!!! Ps and the manager B also informed me that the soup sells out fast on cold days so get there early if it's cold out. Oh and save me some I'll be right there!

Great lunch spot tucked inside a tiny mall area with an entrance off of Woodland Blvd. Glass walls with an open design with tables on the inside and a few in the hallway. You order at the walk up counter and they give you a number and you seat yourself. Self serve drink fountain next to a counter with plastic silverware and napkins. Your order is served on a paper covered pie plate and the fries come in their own little white bag. Cheddar Bacon Burger Specifications: - Bun - fresh seedless toasted bun (seems to be grilled on a flat top) comes with a nice spread of mayo all contained in the area of the bun. - Lettuce - fresh washed green leaf with no core present. - Tomato - one fresh slice of flavorful juicy tomato. - Bacon - two slices lean and crisp. - Cheddar Cheese - one slice natural cheddar melted - Burger - approximately 8 ounces of hand formed fresh ground beef cooked perfectly to order you must order it medium or it will be cooked done served open face looking at you. I loved the burger! The fries are the crinkled cut fries but the were actually really good next time I will ask them to brown them a little more. The place is extremely clean the booths show some wear from years of use but that's expected. The staff was very friendly, I definitely will return here being the location is in downtown Deland there are lots of shops to walk through if time allows.

A little difficult to find, but it's worth looking for. It's in a little hallway with some other "artsy" type businesses. Makes for some good "people watching"! The prices are decent , the burgers are cooked AFTER you order them, are huge and the fish basket is excellent. I tasted my dining companions' potato salad and I will say I would not ever order it and he left it for the trash! A little too sweet for him and too tangy for me, but the fries are a great choice and served in a white paper bag. Drinks are self serve and refills are free. It was fairly busy today, almost every table was filled but didn't wait more than 10 minutes for our lunch. If you like the desserts at Cooks Buffet near the university it's important to know,these are one and the same! YUM! This is not my first visit and have no problem returning for lunch again.

Mmmmm!!! Have loved this place for many years and everytime I go, I am not disappointed! Again today for lunch I had the roast beef club (AWESOME) and a cup of their signature homemade Red Velvet Soup...YUM! Try this place, you will love it!
