Over all, it was a good experience. Only complaint is that the server forgot to serve a coffee that was ordered. Would come back again if in town.

I am really impress because I try their other restaurant and I had the worst service and the place was dirty... But this Bytes it was awesome, the server had a big party of 14 people and I was on her section on a table for 4 and she was always on top, I never had to ask for refills of water, she offered drinks at the right time, the food had great taste. We had a good experience.

Had dinner here yesterday. The staff were very courteous and helpful. I chose to try this place because of the yelp reviews and also their menu. I sat at the bar which was clean. The ambience of the place was cool and relaxed. I had the roasted carrot and ginger bisque, Garlic butter green beans and roasted red pepper mashed potatoes. Everything was delicious. I did not have to wait long either. I recommend this place and would definitely go here again.

Had great time with Jojo. Food was very exciting. Loved the wine list. Have to come back for dessert. Parmisan chips were a bit. So was baked brie. Cudos to the chef. Super service as well. Have us time to visit with our niece.

Absolutely amazing! I have been here a few times now and have loved everything I've ordered. Everything from appetiZers to desserts. My favorite is the byte burger. The pasta is great. Scallops too! Ahi tuna. Fish and chips. They have gluten free options too! Thank you to the chef and the awesome servers. You add a twist to Delands restaurant options!!!

Excellent mother's day brunch. Exceptional value and surprisingly great service considering how very busy it was.

Byte has revamped there menu for the good. 50 50 burger is excellent blend of bacon and hamburger. Fried green beans ap is very nice as well. Add to that two for one specials on Martinis and fat tire beer and we have a new upscale restaurant in DeLand worth eating at.

We eat here about every other week, the food is great. I love the fish tacos and my boyfriend gets the scallops or beer battered mahi. Ahi tuna is excellent for an appetizer and has a cool salt rock presentation- we are outside and had several people stop and ask what it was on. Wait time for food can be slightly long, but reasonable when it's busy and inside the restaurant can be a little loud. Ironically, our favorite servers are the two bartenders. We don't drink often but I guess they serve tables and bar. They are the most attentive, hold conversations well, and always seem happy. Service would be 3 or 4 stars if we didn't get them normally. But the others we have had aren't bad and we aren't complaining.

Excellent food! We Had fried green tomato BLT sandwich with pub fries and fish tacos with Apple slaw with an iced tea and a water only for $20. Food came out fast and hot! Server was very attentive and pleasant.

Was walking with my dad today through Deland and we saw the menu posted. It looked interesting so we decided to give it a shot. We asked to sit out at a sidewalk table and were promptly seated, followed by a request for our drink order by the hostess. Our waiter then came out and told us they were out of roast beef so that knocked out my first pick off the menu. I ordered an app -flatbread apple & gorgonzola w rosemary while I looked for something else. I ended up with the cali chicken panini and my dad had the duck w apple panini. All three items we ordered were excellent, and we both agreed that there should be a repeat stop here. Service was great as well. My drink was never below half before our waiter was getting me a refill. Usually my benchmark to tell if a waiter is being attentive. Overall a solid four stars.

I was part of a party of 6 on Thanksgiving for the buffet & we are very disappointed with the experience. The price advertised was $12.99 and we were expecting some turkey with the trimmings. The turkey was just okay, a bit on the dry side and the side dishes were horrible! How can side dishes for Thanksgiving turn out SO bad? Then we found out that if we wanted food beyond the 1st plate, it was $6.00! This was NOT advertised & we were disappointed. The wait staff watched everyone like hawks ready to add charges I guess. Our server was an older gentlemen who really didn't have a clue on replenishing drinks and removing dirty plates. The place is also very "cold", no artwork or flowers the one would expect and enjoy when dining out. Won't be going back and I'm sure the experience will be remembered as a bad one for our future Thanksgivings or dinners out in DeLand!

Deland? Yes Deland. Charming and restored, romantic and fun, you'll find surprisingly good food and wine here. Byte joins Cress and the bars/shops in Artisan Alley making Deland my new fave date night destination. Back to Byte.... Sexy, bistro vibe. Friendly servers and manager. Full on a Friday night with a diverse crowd. Parking is easy on the street or nearby, a nice change from Winter Park. Impressed by the variety on the menu. You can do tapas, full entrees or sandwiches. So you pick how much you want to eat/spend....Niman Ranch Pork Chop and a Rabbit dish spotted on the menu, along with other creative choices. The food quality is high- scallops, filet, ahi tuna. The best I've had in Orlando in a long time and cooked (or not with the tuna) perfectly. Entrees served on a unique plate. Upscale presentation with the meat/seafood on a hot block, three little spaces for the sauces and a spot for the sides on the left. Downsides- waitress didn't know much about the new items on the menu... and most of the entrees were new. However the two she recommended- the filet and the scallops- were excellent. Also, salad was boring. Fresh but boring... seemed like it was missing some of the embellishments it should have had, but I was enjoying my champagne at that point, so I didn't cross check. Random Notes on Downtown Deland: There is a famers market in Artisan alley every Friday night from 6-9. Lots of homemade goodies, including Gluten-Free Brownies, French Lemon Cake and Jams and Jellies. The sellers are friendly and earnest. Don't miss the man in the back selling herbs in biodegradable burlap containers... ready to plant. He will plan herb gardens for you. On the LAST weekend of every month, the farmers market becomes a big craft sale. Window shopping is also fun in Deland. Check out the wonderful store by Artisan Alley full of architectural finds, like old doors and the tops of columns. Also the doll store and the random antique stores on Woodland Blvd.

Very good food, good menu, go there! We had a wonderful meal. Nice waitress too! Had the BLT green tomato, but try the ahi tuna ON A SALT BLOCK!

Went last night with a group of 6. The service wasn't terrible, but it wasn't great either. Although, it was Saturday night and Homecoming weekend there weren't many patrons. The food was okay. I wasn't overly impressed or dissatisfied either. Jury is still out. I guess I might go back and try it. It was kinda pricey too. I definitely prefer Oudom's or De La Vega, both have great food, service, and reasonable prices. Also, one more thing if you go to a restaurant you expect your server to have tasted some of the fare and also the cocktails and wines. ***sigh*** The kitchen needs to have the waitstaff sampling the menu.

Have been here three other times and loved it. Brought a coworker here for lunch, not many guests and food took forever. I was extremely disappointed in the timing and it discouraged my coworker from wanting to return to the restaurant.

So we were headed to Winter Park for the afternoon, but my wife suggested we grab lunch in DeLand before we drove out. BIG MISTAKE! We've heard from some friends that BYTE had great food, but the service was meh. When we arrived, there were three large groups seated in the restaurant for brunch. It looked like they were finishing up, but they stayed far too long. In particular, their was one guy who was extremely boisterous. So loud, in fact, that I couldn't hear my daughter speaking to me at our own table. My point is that the acoustics in this restaurant are horrible. Unless you are looking to hear everything that everyone in the restaurant is saying. Our server, Shannon, greeted us at the door and took us to our table. We didn't think she was our server because it took her so long to come ask us for a drink order. Once she did, she explained that the kitchen was really backed up and that it would be a while for our food. (We should've taken that cue!) I'm guessing that one of the cooks might have called out, because there weren't that many people waiting on food, most had already been served and were waiting to pay or just enjoying their drinks. At any rate, usually when a server knows that food is running slow, they offer chips or bread or something!! Especially for a table with 3 kids under 10 years old. Even my 7 year old noticed how slow the service was. Our server stopped by a few times to ask if we were okay, but what was I supposed to say? "Yes were are great, but where the heck is the food?" Our brunch was really delicious. I have no complaints about the food. The 50/50 burger gave me heartburn, but that's not their issue, it's mine. My wife had a salad with salmon (I think) and the kids really enjoyed their meals once they arrived too! Or maybe we were all so hungry that the food just tasted better...hmmm, possibly BYTE's strategy?

Food was really good and service was excellent. We would definitely come back! We had the Korean pork nachos which were definitely worth it, nice to see something different on a menu instead of the same old stuff. The lamb pot pie and the lamb fajitas were great, I was too full to try the creme brulee. Something to look forward to next time, also The burger looks like something to try. The 50/50 burger, as in half beef half bacon.... Sounds like you couldn't go wrong. Great happy hour too! Definitely a place worth trying out!

Very disappointed. Went for lunch today. ..Sept. 21st. The menu has a promise of an amazing meal and a great write up about the chef. My wife ordered the Duck Brie and Apple Panini sandwich---and it was cold. It arrived with just a few pieces of Duck and they forgot the Brie. How do you forget the Brie? My son had the Duck Pot Pie. It's basically was a stew with a croissant type roll on top. The potatoes and carrots simply were not cooked. The Duck.... A couple of small pieces...that's it. Ducks must have gone on strike for the day. I had the roast beef sandwich. ..not bad... A bit skimpy on the roast beef.... Unfortunately the cibiatta role was pretty stale. What a shame... promising meal ended up pretty awful. Hey Chef...did you take the Sunday off?

Visited last night with my husband with the intent to share several small plates and have a few drinks. I was expecting about an $80.00 dinner and I thought we would order several different appetizers and see how it went from there. We ordered from the Fragments section of their menu, and I must say it really was fragments! For $12.00 we got 4 slices of ahi tuna and then for $8.00 we got about 6 calamari frites. Now don't get me wrong, I don't mind an expensive restaurant but I really don't like paying 12 bucks for a total of 4 bites of tuna. Compared to what I can get at Carmel in Winter Park, this is not worth the price. I told my husband that the Fragments were so overpriced that I wanted to close out and spend our money elsewhere. After the two fragments and one gin and tonic and one ice tea, we came out right at 36 bucks. Again, if their appetizers were actually appetizers and not 4 to 6 bites each...then I might not have been so turned off. Maybe that is really why it is called Byte....since you only get a few bites! The server was very nice and the atmosphere was modern, but if you are looking for fine food that is worth the price I would recommend Cress, or even driving out to Carmel.

This restaurant has totally lost its appeal. Trying to have a "casual, modern, fresh" dinner while hearing the thump, thump, thump of the music from the establishment above combined with the poor acoustics of the concrete and hard walls in the restaurant made us feel like screaming. It was like when you sit in traffic and hear the annoying bass of the car next to you. No matter how good the food may be the noise undermined the dining experience.

I'm not sure what this place is trying to be but it seems as if it's rather upscale casual and it's a contradiction of sorts. The decor is lackluster and boring, much like their food. When my husband and I arrived on a Friday evening, the four booths were occupied as were two other tables. There were also several people in the "bar" area. We were told there was a 2 for 1 on beer and house wine. I told our server I would "start" with water and hubby ordered a beer. We then placed our order, both of us deciding on sandwiches and mashed potatoes. Although I ordered my 50/50 burger well done I didn't expect it to be cooked to the point of dried up! Someone needs to teach their chef that well done can still be juicy. The sandwich was supposed to be a combination of Angus beef and bacon with smoked Gouda cheese and bacon chips. There was a strange sweetness to the meat, my husband explained to me was "candied" bacon although the menu didn't indicate that's what was used. He had the roast beef sandwich on ciabatta bread and was not impressed. He felt the meat was over cooked and the bread was the wrong kind for that type of sandwich. The mashed potatoes were the best part of the meal, made with real potatoes and served piping hot. Our server never did ask again if I wanted anything different to drink although he did keep my water glass replenished without being prompted to do so. All of the wait staff were casually dressed, sporting blue jeans and black shirts with black aprons. Except one, he looked like he had worn the black t-shirt and jeans he slept in with no apron and had his ticket book stuffed down the back of his pants. If he worked for me I would have fired him on the spot for something that unprofessional. You only have one chance to make a first impression and this was an epic fail in my opinion. Probably won't be back.

This was either just an off night at BYTEs or maybe it was the chefs night off. But anyway, my girlfriend and I had a gift certificate of $75 dollars from a friend that thought we might enjoy dinner in Deland's new upscale restaurant at moderate pricing. It happened to be near the end of happy hour but the waitress said if I ordered two drinks before dinner they were the same happy hr price. My dinner came to me only warm and quite small portions. The string beans were heavily coated with breading and looked to be left in a fryer too long. The waitress offered to have it rewarmed and I suggested replacing instead, which it was. The second plate was warm to the touch and the food was piping hot and fresh looking along with being much more generous in proportion. The beans were just lightly coated and fried to a light tan making them very tasty. Of which I shared with my friend, as she was not eating her over coated, over done ones. The food was of good quality the second time around and the drinks were good, except the waitress was wrong about the happy hour price for the second ones.( full price ) In presenting the gift certificate, we were informed that the tip could not be used to pay the tip. So I now have a credit amount of $ 11.50 which I believe I will not be using as I doubt if we'll be returning to be BYTEn again. Sorry

Two for one happy hour is always a great way to start. We had the Ahi Tuna it was done perfectly. The greens and sauce were superb as well. We finished it down to the salt brick it was served on. We also had the Trifecta each slider was unique. We preferred the Korean Pulled Pork, all were good. One dollar off appetizers during happy hour. We had the Fish and Chips with mac and cheese and the apple fennel slaw. Both sides were very good. The Mahi Mahi was sauted (our choice) and was amazing. The caper sauce wasn't needed but went perfectly with the fish. David our server and the Bartender was great, and the owner cleared our table as we finished our drinks. He didn't tell us that but we are locals and recognized him. Two martinis and two drafts, excellent dinner for two, ten percent coupon. $40 Bam David got ten. Yes, the portions were not large....the quality was excellant. We will be back.

This is a truly wonderful addition to downtown Deland. I visited several times for private events and nights out downtown. The bar selection is impressive, especially the vodka choices. On my initial visit the bartender was very nice and professional, she readily admitted that this was a new place and still developing a vibe. She was confident of her knowledge, but admitted she was still learning about some of the offerings. Her cocktails were very well made and measured. To me an over pour or under pour can easily spoil a drink. The quality of every food item I tried was very good. On some of the appetizer items I did not feel the portion always matched the price, but there are some nice imaginative dishes to be enjoyed here. The decor and ambiance are top notch. I think this bar/bistro is best enjoyed with a group of friends as one end of an evening out. A cool way to kick off a party night downtown Deland or get a great cocktail or two to top it off. As others have mentioned, there is easy parking and other fun spots in easy walking distance.

I went to Byte with a large group. The waitress did her best but they were understaffed and service was slow. The salad was boring and very under dressed. The portion size was very small on my entree. I ordered the pub fries which were unspectacular French fries. They served no chipotle catsup which was stated on the menu. I left hungry. I won't be back.

Have been there twice. Food was excellent and unique. I would like to try everything on the menu. We ordered from the dinner section and the sandwich sections. Prices very reasonable and portions generous. Great service.

I agree with Vicky S. that it is a welcome addition to the downtown area, and I would like to state I will return a second time. Decor and appointments are excellent, if you didn't tell me where we were, and dropped me into the middle of the restaurant, I might believe it was located in any major city in the US. Good work on the 'feel' of the establishment. Now. Having dined at a number of establishments similar to this one in Southern California, where we spent over 20 years, I can say that more effort is required to bring the cuisine/service of this establishment up to the level advertised. For instance, the server should have full knowledge of the menu, daily specials (off menu), and potential wine parings. Ours did not. Ordered the "Truffle chips" under 'Fragments.' Please actually put Truffle into the dish next time. I have had many dishes with truffles actually in them and know what to expect. This one had approximately zero truffle flavor. The salad came with the meal. We were asked what dressing we preferred, again, we both chose the truffle-based offering, and again, we found it to be a bit pedestrian if not disappointing. No hint of truffle to be found. In addition, diced supermarket-level tomatoes on hearts of romaine SOUNDS good in theory, but in practice is 'Meh' Presentation was nice. THE MEAL: After our server came back to retake our order, (she was having a rough night, it happens to the best of us), we were eventually served the main course. My wife ordered the Yellow Tail Snapper and I had the Braised Short Rib. Both dishes were very good. Hers was hot and obviously freshly prepared,; a good thing for a fish dish. The food was well-presented also. The Short Rib was very nice, both in presentation and flavor. The accompanying 'Hunters potatoes' were quite nicely done with good flavor and texture. One small caveat: the Snapper was served on a fried risotto-like cake, this cake was both not mentioned on the menu, and not very palatable. It was greasy and was something more akin to an offering found at Long John Silvers. The Green Onion Puree mentioned in the meal description was also not present. There were other things that occurred that I am not going to comment on in this review. Again, this is for the owner to read and take away what he will from it. If you are going to charge these prices, you must have a high level of service to accompany. I do welcome this restaurant to the area and hope that it will become a great one. Giving it three stars (for effort) and hope to give it more on my next review.
