This bakery has a wonderful selection of brownies, bars, cupcakes, scones, and more. They also offer light lunch options. Everything is made in house. My family split a pear bar, two brownies, and a cupcake. They were all incredibly rich and delicious. She provided us with samples, too -- wonderful service with a drive-thru and outdoor seating. Definitely go if you're in the area!

Today is my great-grandmother's 98th birthday and she has been a resident of Deland since the 1920's. She is a special lady to my family and to Deland. Her late husband donated the land to the Plymouth Avenue Christian Church. Although I couldn't afford to travel across the country to visit with her on her special day, I was able to help make her feel special by having a custom cake delivered to her front door at a designated time. I owe this to BUTTERCUP BAKERY OF DELAND, FL. I have nothing but GOOD THINGS to say about the CUSTOMER SERVICE and PROFSSIONALISM of this slice of heaven located in central Florida. I'm so grateful they worked with me remotely, took payment over the phone, and even sent me an update with a photo of the cake when it was delivered. I described the cake I wanted, which was Chocolate Fudge with a caramel filling to mimic her favorite candy, Rolos. However, I wanted the cake to be decorated really pretty for an elderly lady on her springtime birthday. So, the cake was decorated in pink and white with pink frosting flowers. Unfortunately, I didn't get the chance to try the cake out myself but I heard it was good. I have never been to the Buttercup Bakery in person and I'm not exactly sure how to invision what other reviewers are talking about when they describe the goods being strangely stored behind glass. *If the reviewers are talking about baked goods*, I can tell you from my experience as a customer of bakeries and restaurants and as a former cheesecake toppings "topper girl" at Copeland's The Cheesecake Bistro and a former Head Wait at a ski resort, I have never seen desserts displayed to the public that were NOT behind glass or in acrylic cases. Would you eat at a buffet that didn't have a sneeze guard? It's illegal not to have a sneeze guard or goods properly stored.

Eat local! Best flavored coffees and teas made the way you like. Great variety and unique breakfast and lunch items. Plus there's a cute drive-thru so you can grab and go!

Beware you may become addicted to everything here this place is on a side street and you may not know it's here unless someone mentions it to you but once you discover it you will never need your GPS again to return. I think they add some kind of secret ingredients to keep you coming back it's all good here. :-)

I can't agree more with the other positive reviews of this place. If you like sweets that taste like your mom made them, this is your joint. I have to wonder how anyone could not like this bakery, you'd have to be absent of tastebuds I guess? Lol

I cannot believe there aren't about 200 5 star reviews for this place!!! OMG!!! Buttercup's desserts are AMAZING!!! I cannot believe anyone would complain about seating/lack of AC. It's a bakery & isn't set up for indoor seating...certainly doesn't change the fact that their desserts are to die for!. We were appreciative of any seating at all!!! I highly recommend going, getting your sweet fix & enjoying it in any setting you feel is best.

Holy Cannoli! I cannot get over the slice of heaven I ate from the Buttercup Bakery the other day that came in the form of Kentucky Butter Cake. While the prices are a bit on the high side this is one of those instances where you should just hand over your money and enjoy as there will be no buyer's remorse here. The decor is unbelievably adorable if you're into that sort of thing and if you're on the go or simply just don't want to leave your car you can always order from the drive-thru!

Always try to stop for a wonderful treat when in the area. Service is always friendly and relaxing outside patio area.

I love this place. Yes the seating isn't ideal but it is delicious. As for the pricing considering it is all freshly handmade and completely delicious, i think it is a fair price. The feta pasta salad had my taste buds singing one day. As for their baked good; amazing is all I have to say. I absolutely love their chai tea, so spicy and perfect with anything I get from there. I come back as often as my college student dwindling bank account will let me. It's a real treat when I make it here and as long as I go to Stetson I will be stopping here as often as I can. Amazing.

I've been to Buttercup Bakery many times since it's been open, and I love this place. It's cute as a button - a cutesy yellow cottage-like structure with eclectic seating (there's even a carousel horse behind the establishment). The fresh baked goods are displayed on the counter behind a glass window, and lunch items are written on a large whiteboard next to the order window. Directly adjacent to the bakery is Sunflower Park, where you can take your recently purchased food items and enjoy yourself a nice little picnic. The baked items are awesome - best cookies, cakes, quiches, brownies, doesn't matter what it is, be assured that it's good. Also, there's a drive-thru - a CLASSY drive-thru. However, there are a few things that keep me from giving this bakery five stars. First of all, if it's hot, plan to bring your food to an air-conditioned car. ALL of the seating is outdoors, though the tables have umbrellas. Normally, a restaurant's layout doesn't bother me if it's pre-existing structure, but the bakery BUILT the establishment in this way. Also, their prices are quite high - $4.25 for a scone and a strawberry shortcake is over $7. One reason for this is because they're a bakery that doesn't earn their income on bread, like most bakeries - just desserts and lunch. Don't let these things deter you from Buttercup Bakery! It's a lot of fun, and the food is great. The atmosphere is perfect for an informal date or get-together in the park, and it's very convenient for the Stetson folks.

Needs advertising! This place is awesome. The owners are very friendly. It was our first time here and they gave us samples of anything we wanted to try. The setup reminds me of a older error. I love it. Wish the location was easier to find. Its tucked away but close to Stetson. Some say they are pricey but I dont mind paying a extra if I know my food is made with care. I most definate place to stop.

excellent food. Wish you could go inside...odd having to pick what you want thru glass viewing. Odd but I would do again.

I went here and got a cream puff and a cup of mint mocha iced coffee. The snack was delicious and the service was friendly.

Kentucky Butter Cake is their best dessert! Make sure to share with someone, it is very sweet.

This place has super cute cupcakes and gourmet dessert items. The prices are good, a little higher than a grocery store, but there are no freaky artificial ingredients in their desserts, just the real stuff: butter, milk, cream, sugar, etc. I think the building is so cute and I love Deland. If you are visiting the area try it out, great sweets and lunch. I think the drive through idea is great considering how hot it is outside. I love local bakeries like this!

A great place in nice weather to sit outside and enjoy a cup of coffee. The place is very small. In fact, you can't go inside. Rather, you walk up to a window of the small building, almost like the old ice cream stands. They even have a drive through window, which is absolutely a great option. You can see the delicious baked options from a distance or you can ask the worker to show them to you. However, four bucks for a muffin? And $4.25 for a small scone? They don't even charge those prices in Naples! The organic coffee was worth the $1.90 and I would go back for coffee because of the drive through convenience or if I had time to sit at one of the several outside bistro tables on a nice day.

I have to politely disagree with the other reviews. The stuff is all hand made from scratch, and they DO make custom things, because my wedding was done with several of their cheesecakes, made to order. The quality of the food is amazing. Now I will admit that the outside seating can be a bummer, and the setup isn't as ideal, but I'm willing to overlook that for the taste of it all. The bad news is that now I'm diabetic, and can't really go there...but doggone it, if I could, I would again! Yes, it's pricier...but I dare you to find the selection and quality in DeLand - nay, Central Florida - for half the price. I've lived here 40 years, and you can be assured that you won't find it.

The set up for this place is all wrong. You can't even see & smell the wares they have. It's very awkward to have someone show them to you. I feel that you need to browse a glass case and be able to smell the baked goods. What I have gotten there has been good- not mind blowing. Plus, the prices seem a little high for small town Deland and more suited to a big city.
