FOOD: * Pulled pork is my go-to BBQ. yummy. * Sliced brisket is off-the-hook tender. nice smoke ring every time. did I say tender?! * Burnt ends... mmmmm. * Andouille sausage sandwich is outstanding. grilled onions and red/green peppers served on it as well as a side of FF. * Condiments: 6 types of BBQ sauces ranging from mild to a spicy hot as well as a mustard based. no vinegar based for my fellow Carolina peeps, but this isn't supposed to be Carolina style. :) *Salad bar: haven't even tried it, so can't review it. SERVICE: Outstanding! They are SUPER attentive and are always right there. We usually go after the lunch rush, but I have nothing but praises for the folks that work while we are there. FACILITIES: They have both indoor and outdoor dining options. I could see this as a really cool option for a big casual dinner with a huge group of friends. It's a BBQ restaurant so it's set up as such: picnic tables, wood everything, paper towel roll at each table. 6 types of BBQ sauces as well. There's a big bar inside and I think one outside as well. So yeah, it's worth a stop in...I know I do at least once every week or two for lunch. :)

So we just left Pitt masters and it was dreadful to say the least! We ordered the fried mushrooms as an appetizer $6.00 and change. Not very good at all. Frozen and deep fried very greasy with little taste. I ordered the BBQ Burnt Ends. It comes with fries and coleslaw. I elected to choose garlic mash potatoes instead of coleslaw as a substitute for $2.49 additional charge. When the food arrives I had SIX burnt ends to eat and a few fries with Garlic Mash potatoes. The $2.49 mash potatoes was about 4 dinner spoons fulls. Horrible portion size. My dinner alone just my entree was 14.00 in change. I asked the waitress before I ordered would this would be enough and she stated that sometimes they have been known to have "skimpy portions"! She said if it wasn't enough she would get me more and she didn't when I brought it to her attention. I expressed to her I was unhappy and that for 14.00 I had little food. She didn't offer to get many anymore, or a discount or a manager nothing. She made Zero attempts to make me as a customer happy with my purchase. The prices are high and portions are small! That's how they keep the doors open scamming people out of their money charge lots give little. " Scam Masters"! Overall experience was poor! Food was ok except for the mushrooms. Portion size is awful , service and atmosphere is awful as well. Please don't waste your time here go to Sonny's instead. I won't be caught dead back in this place! Again spend your money somewhere else! Very displeased! Remember not PittMasters "scam masters"!

great portions and great taste, hands down best bbQ in town

Overall this place is okay and seems to be busy because of its general remoteness, however, I was fairly disappointed and felt ripped off. Portions are cheap. Just enough brisket to make a good half a sandwich and never enough fries. Kids meals don't come with drinks like everybody else, so plan on spending more for that. Ordered jalapeno poppers off the menu but was automatically upgraded to a larger more expensive portion not shown. Some of the menu prices are confusing and I reckon if you don't ask, they'd just charge you the higher price. Was even overcharged for happy hour beers - less than full price but fifty cents more than shown on table side fliers. Why? Was also talked out of ordering cake by the waitress because she suggested it was too small to share. You should also know that when they're busy, the A/C can't keep up and it gets dreadfully hot in there. Can't even begin to imagine what it's like in the kitchen then. Went three times before writing this review to give them half a chance. Unless you're stuck in Deland, I'd venture elsewhere. Sauces are good. A/B+

BBQ - Had the Burnt Ends and they were Very Good, but a little fatty on a couple of pieces and you don't get that many pieces $10.99. Chicken Basket, BLT, Chicken Platter and Club Sandwich were all good. The Onion Rings were breaded the way I like them! Baked beans were a little pasty. Have at least 6 different BBQ sauces to pick from. Service was OUTSTANDING from Blaine. Overall, if your are in the area and looking for BBQ, you should stop by and give them a try, you will not be disappointed.

I'm just going to keep this simple. Who are the people that go online and regularly pound out reviews and complaints? At least 50% of those people are unreasonable, ignorant people. Malcontents. Reason I start this way is, someone reviewing Pitmasters said they had to go to McDonald's to get a burger? Take it from me, this is not a comment to be taken seriously. Pitmasters is mind blowing. Great variety on the menu and not pricey given the portion sizes. I have been there a half-dozen times over the course of 18 months and have been rocked each time. I feel bad for any human being that would ever go to the Sonny's down the street while Pitmasters is a mile away.

I went to try the all you can eat bar-b-q buffet . I went at 5:30 on Saturday night. It should have been an excellent time to see a buffet at its best ! Stale cornbread , dry pulled chicken , burned fried catfish , over cooked canned greens were all inedible. $12 price was too much to pay for good baked beans and average looking salad fixings . I was pleasantly surprised that the waitress was easy going about me leaving and did not charge me for the incredibly bad food. I was so disappointed after reading good reviews in the newspaper and on yelp. I went over to a local Mexican restaurant instead and had a good meal.

We went here while visiting Deland, BBQ was the best I have had in a long time, separate smokehouse from main bldg. Great service as well, highly recommend if you are a BBQ lover! I had the ribs, girlfriend had the pulled pork, both excellent...sweet tea of course.

This is the second location for the Pitmasters! Some work colleagues and I went in for lunch and they have incredible and inexpensive lunch specials. The sauces were great, the staff was very friendly and the place was clean! I highly recommend!

Went on a Sunday for lunch. Ordered pulled pork platter, but sandwich came out instead after a 25 min wait. I had also asked for crispier fries, but no love was put in the cooking, the fries were all ready premaid (limp) and thats how they came. Pulled pork lunch sandwich was $6.29 with fries and 1 more side. Small portion on the pulled pork, ended up going to McD for a burger. On the upside the bbq sauces were good and a nice variety, 6 different kinds. For a good portion I would suggest Brians BBQ or even Sonnys with the all you can eat ribs.

So I'm sitting in a bar and listening to some people a few seats over hold forth where you can get good barbecue around here. The guy with the most detailed and vivid descriptions was celebrating the virtues of Pitmasters. My wife and walked outside and couldn't get the thought of barbecue out of our heads. We drove out to Pitmasters and it lived up to its billing. Had the burnt ends and they were outstanding, almost too intense. Came back months later and had the pulled pork. Fantastic. Just OK service. Comfortable out-in-countryside feel with stuffed alligators on the wall, (Possibly because there's a taxidermy place next door.) Don't get out that way often, but will try to make it back.

Everyone has raved about these burnt ends... I have to say I and everyone else in our party where not impressed. They came out cold. Not like room temperature but cold from a fridge! They were tossed in a terrible BBQ sauce that really hid the burnt end flavor. The toast was terrible, the Mac n cheese was clearly a boxed variety, and my sweet potato was cold. The server was really nice and genuine. The sweet tea was good! Our server even provided us a discount on our checks because she felt bad. So they did try to correct their errors which does speak volumes about their establishment.

One of my favorite places to eat in the area. I order the burnt ends every single time. Everything else is just as tasty! I tried the pit master chili, and found it too sweet. I love greens, but I found those to be too salty. The beans are great, but sometimes hit or miss. Basically, the sides are ok, but you should come for the meat. I also see that they have a breakfast buffet, which is quite enticing. I'll try that at some point. For sure, the bbq meats are beyond most other places far and wide. Also, I've never had a better mustard bbq sauce in my life. I can't visit without bringing some home with me. The hot bbq sauce is my second favorite... yummy! Definitely a great local find.

I'm not sure how this is only rate 3 1/2 stars the food was amazing. I had the chili and it was great a little heat and sweet. My husband had the brunt ends the meat was flavorful and melt in your mouth. Kicks for rivers butt. Love this place will be back

Growing up, my neighbor always smoked ribs and pork in his backyard smokers. To this day, I have not found anything better. But sometimes a restaurant gets really close. As a Stetson Student, this was a BBQ place that was close by and recommended by a friend. The staff was friendly and the food was delicious. The ribs were fantastic (obviously not as good as my neighbor's, but pretty close). The decor in the restaurant was homey and made me feel very comfortable. The sauces offered at the table were also great. The mustard sauce is fantastic on the fries. Sometimes it takes a while for the food to come out, but it always tastes good. So if you are in DeLand craving BBQ and you have time, I'd say to try this place out.

Still searching for the BBQ joint in Florida that will make me suck my fingers and smack my lips while lapping up the sauce from the bottom of the plate. Don't know if this place exist or not but I will take this challenge to the ends of the earth. I had high hopes that my prayers were answered this chilly evening in this out of the way location. I understand the high reviews this is a local eatery I don't have drive far to eat kinda place, well I would never make the 45 mile trek from my homeland to partake in this local pleasure palace again but my hats off to those of you that enjoyed this average fare. I almost threw in another star because someone else paid for the meal but half way home I felt the need to purchase a bottle of Zantac for insurance so there you have it. :(

Stopped for lunch yesterday. Everything was outstanding. One of the best BBQ I've had in a long time. Reasonable prices and good size portions. A little out of the way but we'll worth the trip.

Walked in. No hostess. Bartender was on phone said seat where ever you like so we did. Sat there and say there. Went to look at salad bar and went to restroom still no server so walked out. I called them she said we didn't see you there. She was one that said sit where ever. Only one other table in whole place. Won't be back !!!!!

Ribs overloaded with seasoning bake beans. Are not bake beans they r a mixture of beans hard and soft they had no flavor service was very pleasant sweet tea very good ... Salad bar bland but nice selection

Excellent ribs! We (a large group of over 30 people) had a great time! The pulled pork was awesome and... I had the best corn on the cob that I have ever had!
(5)Neal L.
I was expecting more as the atmosphere was really inviting for a BBQ place. Games in the yard and decor was neat. Service was good. Still food was bland and fatty. Bummer as I left with an average feeling.

This was a great restaurant. The food is cooked to perfection topped with their own BBQ sauce; regular, mild or hot, along with great service. They have everything priced right. Inside the restaurant they have wonderful chainsaw carvings from local artists and they have an outside under cover dinning area suitable for a large crowd like 80 people or more. Let's not forget the volleyball and horseshoe area outside with bar service. I guess this place is as good as it gets. Oh, yes don't forget the ice tea served in mason jars gives you that real down home flair. George

Some days... well ok, most days... all I want is to rip into a giant hunk of delicious BBQ meat and I can truly say Pitmasters handles that desire rather well. Brisket, pork, chili (meeeeeeaty chili), ribs... you name it, these guys have it down to a science!
