Do you miss having warm breakfast at home with your grandparents growing up? If you are like me and love eggs, toast, pancakes, and every other delicious part of breakfast; and you might be a little homesick from your younger years then stop on in because Doug and Lil will make you feel right at home. A few suggestions, order breakfast potatoes because these red beauts are tasty, their eggs benedict are perfectly done every time, don't forget lunch because they have the best grilled cheese and soups that you've ever had! Sweet Tea, Sweet Tea, Sweet Tea. I can't stress that enough because it is amazing! Oh, and did I mention that they make their gravy with coffee? So if you like biscuits and gravy but don't want to feel sluggish and tired afterwards, order up a pair of these because they are darn good. Besides the great food, there is the atmosphere. Doug and Lil's staff are amazing and if you are a regular you have your table waiting and if you are a newbie a regular will probably give up their table or invite you to join them. Pull up a chair and let The Potatoe Patch take care of the rest.

I have eaten omelette's all over the world and found none better than here. Thanks Doug & Lil for being my home when my bride is away.

Always friendly service, good food, and very reasonable.

Great place for breakfast, definitely worth the drive to DeLand from Daytona Beach. Always busy on the weekends, but the staff and kitchen do a very good job handling the people.

It's a breakfast place with lunch sandwiches. It's full of locals of various shapes and sizes. My food was decent except for some weird taste like burnt fish from the fryer that lasted one bite. I'm just so over country style diners with that down home decoration style. Can't we think of something better by now? It was kind of like eating in some old persons house, I would rather have my restaurants look like a restaurant, not a house, if I wanted to eat in a house I could have started home. Anyhow no rocket science here, just old fashioned eggs and taters and grits and cold toast. GRAVY Overworked waitresses, coffee forever. Bring your good old boy accent and you'll be fine.

Awesome little breakfast joint! Cash only. Busy, busy!!! But only had about a 10 minute wait for our 9 top table on a Saturday at 9:30. They have the best waitresses too. Everyone enjoyed their food. Fair prices. We all plan to go again. It's our new half way meeting spot between Orlando and Daytona. Get the pancakes!

We came from Ormond by , a recommendation of an old lady we know.... It was a good choice, and we liked it, the coffee and service was great!!

Had lunch with Hubby...the food was great!!!

I have been coming here for 10+ years and will always come here! The service is my favorite part! I walk in the door and Michelle has my drinks ready to go! The food is awesome! I recommend the steak and cheese sandwich for lunch and the eggs Benedict for breakfast! They only take cash, by the way! If you're local or just visiting stop in here!

Awesome place, cool . Chicken fried steak was spicy and came with biscuits eggs, and hash browns. I had French toast which was hand cut bread, and crispy bacon. Delicious! It's a small place, and it was crowded. Get an early start if you can. Friendly staff.

Great homemade breakfast! Service was outstanding!! Drove by here many times finally got a chance to try it happy I did

This was a cute little mom and pop's with a breakfast and lunch selection. Everything had good flavor- I had the corned beef hash with a side of house potatoes. The sweet tea comes in cute little mason jars. Only thing is that they don't accept credit card and they don't let you know up front.

It was Saturday and the place was packed!!! Long wait to sit and then again to eat. Long wait. When the food came, it was cooked perfectly and we enjoyed a delicious, classic home style diner breakfast.

Hands down best breakfast in Deland. However what you may not know is thier lunch is awesome as well. Fried haddock is enormous, burger is very good, Ruben is another winner. Hand dipped o-rings are excellent and the steak fries are good as well. Anyway you go bfast or lunch hard to make a bad choice. Can get busy so you may want to go off peak if you've got to go to work. Price is a little steeper than most but you get what you pay for.

I have eaten here a few times. They serve a good, hearty breakfast, at a reasonable price, but I don't understand the lines. The food is ok, but don't look for them on DDD anytime soon.

I absolutely LOVE Doug & Lil's! Another spot where the food is always fantastic and the service is as well! I eat there on a regular basis and have been for years! The best breakfast in town!

3 stars given for quaint "hole in the wall" "greasy-spoon" diner atmosphere and decent (albeit lukewarm) food. As a newbie to town I was looking for this exact kind of place to call my new home breakfast spot. It came highly recommended by a friend from the Lake Mary area (25+ miles away). Ordered coffee and SMALL OJ prior to getting menu so was shocked to say the least when the bill came and each item was $2.25....holy cow ! (This is a mom n pop shop not a Starbucks with huge franchise overhead) I'm really not one to complain too often (isn't that what all complainers say?) but upon receiving the bill was then notified that "we don't take credit or debit cards"....this is 2012 for goodness sake. Needless to say I had to drive 2 miles to a Walgreen's to get a $20. To have stopped at the Wells Fargo 1/4 mile away as recommended by the merchant would have resulted in an additional $5 in bank fees to get a $20 bill....that would have added an additional 25% to my total tab.... I am totally amazed when a small business owner doesn't have the foresight to take plastic. I never carry cash but have access to thousands in my bank account. Who wouldn't want to tap into that balance for a measly 2 - 3% in credit card processing fees ? Needless to say, this will not by my preferred morning breakfast vendor in DeLand. I will most likely return to Gram's Kitchen as their food costs are reasonable and ...guess what....they take credit cards.......

Good food that comes out quick even when their packed. Very well run restaurant. Very impressive for DeLand.

This place is a great local gem. If you like home cooking and traditional southern food this is a great place. Reasonably priced with a wide selection. Cash or check only. Would recommend.

Another Yelp.com find, Doug and Lil's is tucked down a quiet street in downtown Deland. We stopped by for some breakfast Easter Sunday and seated ourselves at one of a handful of tables. The decor is full on country, with lace and knick knacks adorning the walls like Grandma's house. Our server was friendly and prompt. Food was prepared super quick. I ordered the special, Eggs Benedict ($7.50). It came with choice of grits, home fries or hash browns- I chose home fries based on my server's recommendation. I also added one of their famous pancakes. I must say that this was one of the best Eggs Benedicts I've ever had (see picture). The sauce had just enough lemon tartness which was offset nicely by the salty ham. The eggs were cooked perfectly. Hmmmm... I'm getting hungry just writing this review! The pancake was likewise one of the best I've ever had! Just something about the sweet, not overly sweet, cake. Just delicious! The one disappointment was the home fries. They were oily yet bland. Even salt and ketchup didn't make them any better. I couldn't even pawn them off on my husband, and that's saying something! I was teetering on the edge of a 4 or 5 star review until we were leaving. The owners stopped us to give my son a small decorative butterfly and let him pick a candy filled Easter egg out of a basket. They were so sweet they swayed me into giving them 5 stars. FYI- they accept cash or check ONLY.

The man and I really enjoyed our experience here. We were in town for a gig he played w/ his band and I'm a foodie so I really wanted the best Sunday brunch option in town. We were so pleasantly surprised with this place. Good, rich coffee, clean, portions are enormous and the food was really really good. My bf ordered two breakfasts one of which was the french toast which was just ok. We both ordered the benedict and were pleased to see it served w/ our fave veg asparagus. One critique would be that our server was a bit in the weeds, and we saw our food under the lights waiting to be delivered for way too long. Other than that, I would highly recommend when in DeLand~

For the great price, worth five stars. I wish i would have had more room to try a few more items. My eggs benni was great, the omelet looked like a 4 egger and the french toast was better than at home. I found it on yelp, took my in-laws that live right there(who never knew it existed i might add), and I think we were all converts. I'll be back.

Always a great breakfast at Doug & Lil's Potato Patch! The Eggs Benedict are wonderful there - poached eggs cooked perfectly, good hollandaise with fresh asparagus garnish. I tried the country fried steak with hashbrowns this weekend and it was great with lots of sausage gravy to slather on the steak. The house hot mustard sauce adds a tasty kick. The meal came with a quality pancake as well - I didn't leave hungry for sure! Coffee is a decent breakfast blend - could be a bit stronger for my taste but still good. A nice country diner atmosphere and efficient, friendly service. Always busy and they don't take credit cards.

Great breakfast! Went Sunday morning and it was completely packed, so we were in for a wait, but it was so worth it. Everything tasted very fresh. Service was perfect as well. Try the french toast! So much cinnamon... It was amazing. Loved the atmosphere and the plethora of roosters everywhere.

Great homecookin' & clearly a locals favorite! Honestly, the best pancakes i have EVER had...and i'm a big pancake kinda girl.
(5)Dana S.
The breakfast is outstanding! Always worth the wait when I go!

I have eaten here for more than a decade. The food is always great, and the staff is always very friendly. Most of the servers have been there for years, and the owners are always around. It's an excellent breakfast and lunch place that's extremely well run. Try the eggs benedict it's wonderful!

Good diner fair. The roast beef was ok, but the mashed potatoes were very good. The spinach had no seasoning, but was easily remedied with a little salt and pepper. My salad was surprisingly good with nice greens and homemade ranch dressing. Our server gave us the skinny on adding a little homemade Italian to the ranch for a unique dressing experience. Loved that touch. My daughters pancakes really didn't need syrup, the batter was so good. The tuna melt was especially good. Best of all was our server. Not only was she efficient, but she was also engaging, informative and a great deal of fun.

Good breakfast, great portions, well prepared and presented. Breakfast here is made how breakfast should be in the country. You literally feel like you're sitting in grandma's kitchen waiting for a delicious dish to help wake up the senses. Definitely worth a visit if you're in town. Get there early though...it gets packed.
(4)Jessica J.
This place is A-OK! I joined some co-workers for breakfast and the place was packed! There was a slight wait time. The location is small but they are definitely turning out wonderful home-style breakfasts and lunches. The staff is very friendly and there is something on the menu for everyone. Don't forget...cash only!
(3)Will C.
Little place...big prices!!! Not all that for food for sure. Better places for less in vicinity. Do your yelp search :-) think I'm kidding? Look at one of the pictures posted by someone else! $2.25 for a small drink? LOL. Imagine how much everything else is.. We won't be back until we get a bank loan to eat here.

Love the breakfast here! We moved from Illinois in July and have been exploring the various restaurants in the area. To date, this is my favorite place for breakfast. The eggs benedict is so fresh and delicious; my mouth is watering thinking about it. They also have great home fried potatoes. I was excited as this is our 5th time since we moved here and it is always consistently great. The servers are prompt and friendly. They are always will to do what it takes to make you feel comfortable and welcome. Note the restaurant is small. You need to get there early before it fills up; otherwise, there is a long line to get a table.

I love eating breakfast at Doug and Lil's... They have the best sweet Tea served in mason jars which adds that down home cookin. I always order the country fried steak with hashbrowns loaded with cheese and onions. The added flavor is the house mustard hot sauce. The only negative is they need more seats... always a line out the door.
