Usually I like to discuss the good and the bad about a place. In this instance there was no bad. Pork and beef were deliscious, bbq sauce was tasty and mixed with the hot sauce it's a winner. (on recommendation) I also had the potato salad, collards and Cole slaw all were good and tastes like your mom made them. That's what I liked beat was the atmosphere in the place, inviting friendly and great staff. For dessert the pecan pie is just about the best thing you have ever eaten in your life. I would def go back again, food was great and people were awesome. A def winner.

A Broward County staple. They know what they do great, and that's pulled pork sandwiches!! And they are GREAT!! They smoke their butts every morning. With lunch service starting at 11am. They also use their own, made in house, homemade Bbq sauce. If a delicious northern Georgia barbecue sauce, with the sweet mustardy base! It pairs perfect with the tender smoked pork!! This is one of those placed that if you haven't tried, YOU MUST!! And you will come back time and time again!!

Sweet tea wasn't sweet or cold. BBQ sauce just tasted like vinegar. Pickle was a soggy, overly salty mess. Never again.

I have only been here twice now, the service is fast! Came in both times for breakfast and ordered the French toast with 2 scrambled eggs and bacon. The bacon is not my favorite. I will eat it, but I don't like the taste. *shrugs* My boyfriend loves it. Like I said service is fast and waitress was friendly. The place is small and quaint with a homey feel. I look forward to trying their fried chicken soon.

Finally tried this place and it didn't disappoint! Pork sandwich was the best I've ever had. Fries and slaw weren't anything special but I didn't go there for fries and slaw, I went there for the pork and it was delicious! Will definitely return

After being bookmarked on my Yelp app for too long and craving BBQ I knew I had to visit Georgia Pig. It was a Saturday around 3 pm, and must've just missed the lunch rush. I phoned ahead to find out if they were sold out of ribs. They replied they're "running short on ribs and chicken ". We parked the car on the side of the restaurant and came through the front door (facing the highway), I also saw a few customers use the back door. After walking in seeing a front bar where I saw people wait for their orders..I'm assuming they called ahead because they got their food before we did, and the front bar is where the pit is. It's a brick oven front filled with Meat. We found a comfy booth seat (really comfy), I overheard the waiters talking about how they did a good job, and it was slammed at lunch time. I've been lucking out lately by having lunch later than others! The waitress was friendly but you don't expect a "hello" walking in here. She put down the menus and silverware and asked us if we knew what we wanted to order. The customers must be regulars here and know what they want. After a quick chat with my man we decided on the Pork Platter 11.50$ and the Spare Ribs Platter 13.50$ . The food didn't take long to come out, maybe 10 mins, and with the check like art a diner. The Pork Platter had succulent pork meat with bark covered in the mustard base BBQ sauce, ordered the coleslaw and fries as sides, and comes with a giant piece of soft white bread toasted and buttered. The pork was really really good, I wished there were more, it didn't seem like a lot of meat. The frozen kind of fries a little crispy and like other yelpers say "needs salt" -which is fine for me since there's flavor everywhere on the plate. I ordered the Spare Rib platter. It came 5 big ribs with a smaller rib piece on top. Plenty of bark on the ribs, and again Mustard BBQ sauce smothered all over. I ordered the beans, and coleslaw as my sides. The ribs were huge and tasty, but I can see why others say it's not the best ever. The ribs can be more succulent but either way it was tasty and got the BBQ Fix on. The beans are yummy very good I shared then with my husband he loved them; they were sweet and had bits of bacon in it. The coleslaw is shredded cabbage and carrot submerged in mayo, very tasty coleslaw. I love the big half a Hoagie white toast, it goes well with everything. I asked the waitress which pies were home made and she named some pies off to me, I immediately asked her about the Pecan Pie, and got it to go. She adjusted the bill, and we left all the money and tip on the table. This is a good local BBQ place and I loved the Pork Platter here. Very good pie. I will be back at "The Pig" as the locals who walk in call it. The BBQ sauce is strangely addictively yummy.

This place is the real deal. Even after changing hands, they're still producing lovely chopped pork sandwiches daily and fantastic fried chicken every Friday. For your own sake, do NOT forget to ask about dessert--I love the coconut cream pie and the banana pudding. Just expect a sugar rush. The service here is excellent.

That pulled pork though! Save room for the pecan pie with ice cream! This place is the absolute tits! :)

"Georgia" BBQ? In their wildest dreams. I lived in GA and TN for 16 years, So when I passed a sign that said "Georgia pig", in South Florida, I was excited to give it a try. I didn't have time to go in and sit down, so I placed a to-go order. To drink, I ordered sweet tea. The lady unapologetically told me they only have unsweet. In a lighthearted manner, I pointed-out the name of the restaurant on the menu, and said "...but in Georgia they have sweet tea". She rudely shot back with, "Well you're in Florida." Apparently she didn't find the humor in my critique. Whatever. I let it go. I got my order, and as I was walking out to my car I realized that there was no barbecue sauce in the bag for my fries. So, I walked back in and politely asked if I might get some barbecue sauce. They said yes, and as I went to pick up the small container of sauce, I noticed she was writing up a ticket, and said, "That'll be $1.59". I said, "$1.59 for barbecue sauce?" ... And again with zero personality or friendliness, she simply said, "yes." I then proceeded to hand the, what appeared to be no more than 4 tablespoons of sauce, back to her and said, "I don't think so." On the bright side, the pulled pork sandwich, was tasty, but my fries were the worst of ever had. ...Very overcooked and dried-out. I couldn't even eat them. This food is mediocre, at best, the people act like they'd rather not be there, and they obviously have "nickel and diming" at the top of their core values. Seriously... Their barbecue sauce stinginess and unaccommodating refusal to include sweet tea on their menu (practically a required "condiment" at any true Georgia BBQ restaurant), surely costs them oogles more in lost business, than the pennies it would take them to provide. The "Georgia pig" is very far from the quality and friendly service that should embody the namesake. I will not be back. If you want really good barbecue look elsewhere, or find a "Shorty's" near you. They're the closest I've found to true Southern barbecue.

I came here for a quick lunch! The service was amazing and the food was even better. Recommendations: on your first trip try the pork! We had the pork sandwich and the smoked chicken. My friend ordered the bacon cheeseburger! Incredible.

From the smell of sweet smoke that greets you at the door, to the grandmotherly waitress who chats with you and jokes about your plate (I was "chicken man" because of my order) this place screams family restaurant. Don't forget its a cash only establishment, though they have an ATM there. While up in north Broward I stopped for lunch last Saturday and have to say I enjoyed my lunch. My half chicken was generous in size and the citrus mustard based BBQ spiced the taste up nicely. They substituted out the Cole slaw for extra fries (hot ane crispy). Leave some room for dessert though, because their blueberry pie is sweet. Take some time though to talk to your fellow diners on the counter. You might learn something, such as that it's possible to sail across Florida from the Atlantic to the Gulf. Yeah one of the guys who sat next to me at the counter was a boat captain. You might also hear some conspiracy talk. All in all a fun crowd too.

This review is for breakfast. Since moving to Florida from Texas, I've been coming here off and on for years, particularly to bring my deep south relatives and friends whenever they visit from out of town. You just can't beat the prices. Although they tend to slather everything with butter, you just got to live a little or either soak up the extra grease with the napkins from one of the vintage napkin dispenser, located on each table. Lol. You walk in and its nostalgic of a small country cafe, a true throwback from old south 50's, I would guess the decor hasn't changed much since the restaurant's inception. There are pictures on the wall, little league thank you plaques and the like. Today the guy at the counter waved us in and with a big smile told us to sit anywhere. We wanted a booth so he motioned to a waitress who immediately cleaned one for us. We usually get the breakfast special. For just $3.59 you get toast, 2 eggs and a choice of grits or home fries (I remember when it was in the $2 range). Hot and fresh, cooked to order, I have not yet been disappointed. My husband loves their pancakes, hot and fluffy, a traditional treat. It's only $7 for a 3 stack. And the bacon is the thick cut kind, which is primarily a la carte. If I were to take off a half star would be because they take cash only. So be sure hit the ATM or there's a Walgreen's at the Davie Blvd/441 intersection. Five stars for breakfast because the food is simple, always hot and fresh and an amazing value with extremely friendly service.

Place is classic Bar-b-q deserving praise But not too muc praise Yes that was a haiku... this place is decent. But I can't say that I was blown away. If you're in the neighborhood and in the mood for classic bbq then by all means stop by butin my opinion, FTL area has some other better bbq places than this.

Your mouth starts to water as soon as you park. Get there early before the lunch rush or after it. I usually stop by after work. My favorite is the Deluxe Bar-B-Q Pork Sandwich. So good I even eat the coleslaw (and I don't even like coleslaw). Wish they would take cards though, I would be there more often if they did.

The search for a good BBQ place in south Florida is not unlike knights of old on a search for the Holy Grail. You want to believe it exists, but in fact the search could be rooted more in myth than reality. Well the search is over. Georgia Pig serves good BBQ. The ribs are smoked as ribs should be at a "real" BBQ place. Unlike those ribs purchased from national chains where the meat falls off the bone because of pressure cooking, the ribs at Georgia Pig are tender and are actually eaten off the bone. The pork is tender and smokey, with the same beautiful pink smoke ring found on the ribs. Be prepared. The sauce on the ribs is a mustard base. So if you are looking for a sweet red sauce, you might be disappointed. But give it a try. And dip your fries in the sauce; a nice flavor combination. The staff at the Georgia Pig is welcoming. While the restaurant was established before most of us were born and has a very strong local following, the service staff does not take that for granted and actually seem glad that you have elected to patronize their establishment. So, the food is well prepared and delicious, the atmosphere is comfortable and welcoming, and the staff is pleasant. I strongly recommend making the drive from wherever you live and enjoy the Georgia Pig. Be careful and arrive earlier than the Yelp posted close time. The kitchen closes 15 minutes earlier than posted on Yelp. And please do not go on Friday evenings. That is when they serve banana pudding and I want to ensure there is plenty left for me! Seriously, the banana pudding and coconut cream pie are a nice end to a hearty BBQ dinner.

Driven past many times and vowed to stop in. Today's the lucky day! Clean, old fashioned whistle stop with a good old staff. The chopped pork platter was excellent - a generous serving of trimmed smoked pig. Garlic bread okay. Only issue was older French fries, not freshly cooked. Crinkle cut one would put this dish over the top! Definitely worth the trip. Regular clientele obvious and testament to good food.

I was pleasantly surprised at this place. It's a hole in the wall spot, but clean and the food was delicious! Not a lot to choose from but regardless what you choose, it will be good! The service was excellent, and you cannot beat their prices!!! It's cash only!

As I walked through the door and saw the abundance of Guy Harvey t-shirts and 40+ inch waistlines, I knew I was not at a typical south florida BBQ joint. This place definitely has the "feel" of a North Florida/South Georgia BBQ establishment. I got the ribs and brisket platter and had fries, slaw, and slaw as sides. Also had a few bites of my wife's beans and weenies. The beans and weenies were actually surprisingly good. I thought she was crazy for ordering it, but I was wrong. The fries were good, but nothing overly special. The slaw was probably the best of the sides. I thought the potato salad was probably my least favorite. I didn't dislike it, but I was not a huge fan either. I generally prefer a mustard based potato salad and this was mayo based. Anyway, the stars of the show were the meats. Specifically the ribs. They were superb. Nice and smokey and very juicy on the inside. They were damn near perfect. The brisket was good too. Had that smoke ring on it. Not the best brisket ever, but good enough. They had a very nice mustard sauce here which is a big plus in my book. Two negatives. First, they don't have sweet tea. What kind of self respecting southern BBQ place doesn't have sweet tea? Second, it's cash only. Those are my only two gripes.

This is real, down-home BBQ. The negative reviews here make me laugh, written by people who think KFC is good fried chicken. Though I'm secretly happy to see the bad reviews because it means it will be easier for me to get a seat at this wonderful restaurant. You don't stay in business for 60+ years without doing something right. The food: this is incredible value, delicious fare. You know from about 300 yards away that you are in for a treat because you can smell the smoke as you approach. I have been here about 5 times for lunch and you can expect to wait 5-15 minutes for a table as Pig has it's devotees. Absolutely incredible value - example, for under $9 you can get a daily special platter or a BBQ sandwich and two sides. The BBQ pork sandwich is divine - gorgeous tender smokey chopped (not pulled!) pork with chunks of bark, on a plain old soft white hamburger bun. (I hate it when prissy restaurants try to serve you BBQ pork on a ciabatta roll, and the pork squirts out the side and roll is tough as old boots. You need a SOFT BUN, folks.) Fridays is fried chicken day and I feel like I shouldn't even tell you because I want it all for myself. Lol. Gorgeous, crusty, moist - like my grandmama used to make in Virginia. Every time we have been to the Pig the service has been friendly, prompt, and we have been made to feel welcome. If you want good honest cooking at incredible prices then this is your joint. If you want sliders and shots and fake BBQ there are plenty of other places - please go there and leave more room at the Pig for me and my friends!

Went there yesterday to meet my husband for lunch, anytime he's gone there with the guys he rants and raves how great it is....well it was time for me to see what all the hype was all about.... Ugh....so disappointed!!! The food was not so good, the BBQ sauce was the worst I've ever had, sorry Georgia Pig, didn't feel the love at all...on a good note, their baby t-shirts & onesies are cute, love the little pig tail on the back of the t-shirt, I did buy one for my neighbors grandbaby!! I guess it's a guy thing....

I didn't even get to try this place but I'm leaving a review with one star, if I could leave no stars I would. Walked in at 10:39, I was asked if I was here for breakfast or lunch and I replied lunch, I was told lunch starts at 11am so I told them no problem I will have breakfast....now here is the KICKER, I was told well you only have 5 mins of breakfast its ends at 10:445. I stopped looking at the menu and asked "so you guys stop serving breakfast at 10:45 and lunch starts at 11am?" She replied yup, when I asked whats served in between time, she tells me "thats a good question, that's what i've been telling them" At that point I said forget it and left. Moral of this review is, don't go after 10:45 or before 11am unless you normal take long to decided on what to eat because you will have 15 mins to do so. What place stays open but doesn't serve food for 15 mins? This is the first i've heard of this.

This is some traditional, Southern barbecue. They are known for their pulled pork sandwiches, and they do them well. The meat is moist and tender, and perhaps best of all contains plenty of burnt ends (the charred, super-flavorful bits). Try and sit at the counter and talk to the pitmaster as he tends the pit and chops the meat for your sandwich. The day we were there he mentioned that the wood they were burning had been a live tree the day before, which meant it was burning very slow. This made for an especially delicious pig. Their Brunswick Stew is noteworthy as well. The restaurant is no-frills, cash only and seating is limited

Classic Southern Food. I had a pulled pork sandwich and and potato salad. The flavors were very balanced and I LOVED the fact that I could tell I was eating a pork sandwich. My only complain is that I wasn't able to recognize the place, They need a sign. I drove right past it. Cash only.

As far as local bar b q joints go, this is the best, most consistent one around. True wood cooked beef and pork flavor. Been going here since the 80's and try to get by when in neighborhood which isn't often. Only downfall, no credit or debit cards accepted but it's inexpensive and a great value Hole in the wall. If your not paying attention you will drive by it

to be clear this is more like a 3.75 - but yelp doesnt have that (hint) First and foremost ,very friendly staff. It reminds you of a family owned biz. The waitress and cook were very kind and welcoming,. The food itself was good. I am from Missouri and have high standards for BBQ I have had better, however this place does the trick nice sauces, juicy tender meat. Small, oldschool joint, you can smell that smoker. CASH ONLY

I have eaten here several times and have always been impressed. I usually go on Fridays around 11 or 11:30 before the lunch rush. i always get the pork sandwhich with macaroni salad and i put the coleslaw on the sandwhich. This is hands down the best bgq I have had in florida. I always ask for "outside" which has a bit more of the crunchy bits in it. I always order the pork sandwhich to test a bbq joint. I have not had anything that compares from Tom Jenkins, Shrivers, Dixie Pig, etc. I don't care much for the chain stores either. I happen to like the sauce here, and the banana pudding is the real deal, not some yellow chemical sludge. I knew I would love this place from the minute i walked in the door and sat right in front of the cooking pit and started talking with the pitmaster. Very friendly staff. when i come here i feel like i am no longer in south florida. Very comfortable and homey atmosphere and excelkent food. the spare ribs were pretty good the time i tried them as well. In a nutshell, this place smokes all of the competition!

We read some Yelp reviews about Georgia Pig and saw that it wasn't too far from our neighborhood so we went there for lunch. The storefront restaurant seats 49 so they were packed. We decided to take the food to go and picnic in the car! It also allowed us to order a few extra things, knowing we'd have leftovers packed up to bring home. The menu is small but the food is just great - this is the REAL DEAL. We figure they likely haven't updated the menu because they do what they do well so there's no need to change what works. The woman who took our order told us that they are known for their pulled pork sandwiches so we got one, along with a platter of 2 meats (spareribs and pork), fries, and cole slaw. While the fries and cole slaw were good I was surprised there was no corn bread, collard greens, etc. We also got a small Brunswick Stew. The meat is served in a mustard-based sauce that is balanced in flavor - not cloyingly sweet or spicy. The sandwich was PACKED with smoky, tender meat. We smoke meats at home and were impressed that their meat had a noticeable smoke ring and smoked taste that was not bitter from over-smoking. We gobbled the sandwich quickly and decided to get more than 1 sandwich on our next visit. The Brunswick stew has a kick! It's so meaty that there is hardly any broth! There was corn and veggies in it and the broth was dark brown and rich - absolutely the best I've ever had. Next time we're going to order a full portion instead of a cup! The meat platter was generous - we got the pork chopped up (they'll ask if you want it whole or chopped) and the ribs were very tasty. Since we got the pork in the sandwich, next time we'll try another meat like ham or beef. We also want to try their chicken. We ended the meal with a slice each of homemade blueberry and Key Lime pies. The blueberry filling was delicious and there was crust on the top and bottom of the pie. The Key Lime pie had a thick graham cracker crust and a whipped cream topping. The slices were generous in size and balanced in flavor. Yes, we want to try other flavors next time but I don't know if I can give up on ordering the Key Lime pie! We don't know how we missed discovering this place sooner and know that if we're not going to use our smoker we'll be heading to Georgia Pig! Our family members want to go with us next time so we'll be able to order a greater variety! Whoo hoo!

ok first things first! Really you should have non sweet and sweet tea in any restaurant below D.C. "and you serve "Barbeque", second baked beans should be an everyday item too. That being said the Q it self is off the chain, I've tried a lot locally and all were ok at best, the food is really great I loved my pulled pork sandwich although I'd really like to see a slightly bigger portion of meat on the buns! (yea she said that too!) the coleslaw is really good too! honestly between the beans and sweet tea I really wanted to not like the Georgia Pig, but the food I ate Is the best south of Fort Pierce. My other small problem is for the prices being paid! You are not paying the % for cards being run and your $ aren't that low! the stars are for the food I loved everything I ate! I will return however my few negatives should be looked at by mgmt. thanks.

One of the original BBQ places here in Ft Lauderdale. The smokey aroma attracted my attention, the old time feel of the cleaned up under new ownership got me to the table. I ordered the ribs platter & enjoyed these smokey ribs. My issue with them was the lack of any sweetness on the table. The sauces provided were vinegar based that were missing something to bring out the best of these ribs.

This cash only place is located on 441 right after Peters Rd going south (slow down or you'll miss it). It's been around since 1953 and the pictures and decorations inside reflect that. There's a couple booths, tables, and bar stools. I believe it's seat yourself too. You'll get a place mat which is also the menu. I chose the BBQ Pork Sandwich and a cup of Brunswick Stew. My buddy had the BBQ Beef Sandwich Deluxe. The cup of Brunswick Stew was hearty and loaded with celery (?), onions, corn, and I think ground beef. My sandwich had a good assortment of burnt ends and tender chopped pieces of pork. It had some flavor on its own but I decided to mix some of the (mustard base?) BBQ sauce and hot sauce in it. My friend's deluxe sandwich came with a small ramekin of coleslaw (which he said was dominated by mayo) and a side of fries (both of our sandwiches came with a pickle). Overall, my only complaint is that I feel my sandwich could've been a bit more for $5.50. Other than that, I'd go back again and try their daily specials or their platters.

Had the chopped pork sandwich. Asked for the burnt ends or what they called an "outside" sandwich. Came with fries and Cole slaw. One of the best tasting pork sandwiches you can get around these parts.

Wow not impressed at all. They cook and smoke their meats once a day, they make enough meat for the day and as customers come in and order they cut the meat and heat it up in a microwave. I was in total shock to see all of our food get heated up in a microwave. Even our side dish which was french fries was heated up in the microwave, they did not make it fresh. I paid $60 for 3 people to get heated up food that was cooked in the morning. Coleslaw was horrible no taste and all watered down. If you're looking for true traditional barbecue this is definitely not the place. Oh and it's cash only, I had to walk to a ghetto store down the street to use their ATM and get some money out. Service was okay waitress didn't come by one time to ask how our food was or to even refill my drink

The BBQ smoky smell from the parking lot was a delight to smell before you walk into this place. We decided to try because it was rated 4th on the top sandwich list. This place is cute and homey not too busy 4 pm on a Saturday afternoon. We sat at the bar and the BBQ pit was in the middle. I couldn't help but notice a microwave right on the bar next to the smoker where the meat pork, chicken what ever has been cooking for hours. Before I realized the wait staff put EVERY SINGLE BBQ SANDWICH IN THE MICROWAVE!!!!! Right at the bar. I was and still am in total shock. That totally ruined the whole experience. Why would I go out to eat to order a sandwich that goes in the microwave. ?!?!?

Stopped by after seeing how close it was. It's cash only so make sure you have it on you. I got my food to go will sit down next time so I can really look over the menu. I ordered the ribs, my thoughts were they are decent seemed to be lacking in the meat department, but would probably give it another try. Also had the soup with all the meats mixed in. Not really a soup could have been a sauce instead was decent says spicy, but it's not. Ok after my second trip here I would probably say I'm not coming back any time soon. I had the spare ribs which were ok. Way to fatty for me ended up just giving the rest to my dogs. Not saying it wasn't decent but when you have had better you feel let down. Fries and coleslaw were good which came with the plate. There is another reviewer who left I think 1 or 2 stars and a long review. If you have time scroll down and read. I think he hits the nail on the head with the review it's an edited review also.

Excellent, authentic Southern pit barbecue. This place reminds me of Hancock's in Selma, Alabama and Sam's in Montgomery, AL. I recommend having a chopped pork sandwich; it's absolutely fantastic. The inside of the restaurant is very 'whole-in-the-wall' which makes the experience even better. Barbecue houses should never be modern and trendy. I would give the Georgia Pig a perfect five stars, but for some strange reason they do not serve sweet iced tea which is a huge no-no for this Alabama boy.

I wouldn't even rate it a star. I had the spare rib dinner and it was awful!!! The ribs where all dry and old looking. It seemed like they just reheated them in the microwave or something they where tough and hard to chew. Was very disappointed because I had read that it was a great place for BBQ but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone! The place looks old and run down that right there should have raised a red flag alone. Overall disgusted by this place

I have been here twice with the fam and loved it both times. They sell their cute little T shirts and baby onesies which I love. Its extremely casual in here and the crowd is generally white, which is a rare thing to see if you've been living in Miami for over a year--but it feels like a traditional BBQ joint. Love it. Had the beans and weenies on special and I loved them. I like the potato salad at this place even tho hubby didn't love it. Also had a brisky sam the next time and I loved that too. Will def go back!!

When I first walked in I felt like I was going back in time in the south. It looks like an old house turned into a restaurant. The meat is cooked in a brick oven hole in the wall and you can see the wood they use out back. The place gets packed for lunch during the week. The bbq sandwich was delicious. Used both the bbq and Frank's special hot sauce they call it. They're regular BBQ sauce is a mustard type spiced well and tastes very good. The hot sauce is not very hot it's a spicer version of the other without the mustard, also very good. The fries were average needed salt. The cole slaw was some of the best I've ever had. It was creamy and chopped up fine with just a hint of sweetness. Speaking of sweetness they do not serve sweet tea just unsweetened. Cash only. It's a now frills t-shirt & jeans type of establishment. It has a warm family type feeling. They sponsor little league baseball and hang the team plaques on the wall. So cute! The total for my lunch was $12 with tip. I will definitely be back!

I've been coming here for years (just like everyone else) This was my first time here since the new owners, and nothing has changed (just like we all hopes) It did seem like maybe they fixed the air conditioning as it was cool and quiet inside. I always get the sliced pork plate and once again, it didn't disappoint!! Pearl was my waitress and she is always great!

So, now I see that the Pig has a new ownership team. The Anderson's have deemed it time to stop riding this pig and take some time to travel They mention Georgia, Tennessee, and other adjacent states. I hope they take the time to visit some real BBQ restaurants and then reflect on the blasphemy they had been perpetrating on South Florida. While they are there, I hope they avail themselves of the chance to order any of the standard side dishes that good joints have every day. Mac and Cheese, Cornbread, Collard Greens, Baked Beans and such. Sample and then have a moment of guilt. Now, the new owners claim that all the old customers are telling them not to change a thing. They say they won't. Hopefully that merely means the general menu. I pray they maybe start doing things the right way. Season the potatoes and rice. Make REAL gravy. Maybe make a real Country Fried Steak instead of a banquet frozen puck. I said I'd never be back except on a bet. Well, I am making a bet with myself. I am betting that they will take the misguided tack of leaving the old staff to maintain the status quo. I would like to lose this bet. We'll see.

In five simple words: Best pulled pork sandwich ever!! This is by far the best pulled pork sandwich you can ever lay your eyes and mouth on. Georgia's pig is definitely a place I've come to love not only for its food but for its friendly service. Make sure to bring cash on you though because this place won't accept credit cards.

I had the pulled pork sandwich and I did not like it. Their BBQ sauce did not have any flavor to it and the fries were soggy. Cash only place.

Good Service, but overpriced when you consider the small portion of sandwich your getting. Taste was good, but for 8 bucks I expect a decent size sandwich. Wouldn't recommend this place.

Had lunch here yesterday. I had the chopped pork sandwich with fries and potato salad. It was great. You could taste the chopped smokey meat. It was great with more of the bbq sauce. The fries were normal and the potato salad was awesome. It had more pepper than most places make it. It was a bonus. I like to add some pork and potato salad with a splash of bbq sauce. Keep up the good work!

Its ok but I prefer Tom Jenkins; coleslaw here though is much better than TJ. Prices better at TJ too.

I'm not as enthusiastic about this BBQ restaurant as others have been in their reviews. The chopped pork sandwich was very tasty and tender, but had almost no smokey flavor. It may as well have been cooked in an oven. All of the meats and poultry here are cooked on an open grill with live oak. While this may technically qualify as BBQ, it isn't much different than doing any of these meats at home on your own grill using lump charcoal. For me, I want a rich, smokey flavor with my chopped pork or ribs, and at Georgia Pig, it's not on the menu. On the plus side, the service is great and the staff as friendly and outgoing as you'll find in Florida. I just wish I could be more enthusiastic about their food.

As soon as you get out of your car you'll catch the savory odors of smokey goodness that will immediately open your appetite. I had the chopped pork platter that comes with a hearty serving of Brunswick stew Delicious! The place is small so large groups (7 or more) may have trouble getting a table.

Piggylicious. I absolutely love going to "The PIG" as me and my friends would refer to it... or we would simply make oinky piggy noises... and from that we would all know what the other meant...a secret porko-lingo fellow meat eater groan kinda thing.. It's a staple and should never be closed. From the Brunswick stew to the Pulled PAWK Sammy... We call the sauce Orange Gasoline!! Doesn't it kinda have that diesel taste... in the most delicious diesely way.. And the lovely trashy HONEY BOO BOO Chocolate cream pieeeee... Oh yeah Im heading over now!

The only reason I don't give this place 5 stars is their lack of credit card processing. However, now that I know this I can just plan ahead and bring enough cash. The restaurant is owned and operated by a really nice couple. This no frills place has excellent pulled pork. Although the menu wasn't extensive, they clearly know what they're good at: BBQ. They also had a nice list of home-made desserts. This place is true old Fort Lauderdale style. Not worried about trends or decor - just good food. I would love to go back and try the ribs!

Was in the area and used Yelp to help find a place for lunch and I ended up here. Driving up to the place I was kind of freaked out seeing how it looked like someones house but me and my friend decided to still give it a shot since we were already there. Walking in we were very shocked to see a place full of White people. Not racist or anything but that's not common in South Florida. My friend and I being the only minorities in the restaurant was a little weird at first but nothing mattered once our food came out. I ordered the ribs with a side of chili and my friend ordered the sliced bbq pork platter. Both came with two sides, and if you wanted you can exchange the sides for something else. We both chose the potato salad instead of coleslaw but kept the fries. The chili came out first and it was awesome. You could tell it is fresh chili and not the typical grocery store kind. Then the main dishes came out and we were ready to dig in. There were about four ribs on my plate, but they were meaty and huge. I'm not a light eater and that filled me up. The ribs tasted like real BBQ, not the kind of ribs you get at Chili's but the kind you dream of when you see these kind of joints on tv. My friend's pork platter was just as good. The sliced pork literally melted in your mouth as if it were ice cream. So tender and so good! They also have their own bbq sauce and a hot sauce. I liked the hot sauce more than the bbq sauce but I'm a spicy kind of guy (pun intended ;) haha jk). All in all if you want some real southern bbq hit this place up! Just be prepared for a little culture shock and extreme itis!

Very flavorful bbq. My boyfriend and I had the bbq pulled pork sandwich and it was great. Still tasted the smokiness. They do close early for a Saturday and cash only folks!

Great friendly down home service. The food is good. Like eating at home only better. Breakfast is the best.

That was the most overpriced barbecue I've ever had. They fill you up on bread and french fries for $15 for the 2 meat special. Although the barbecue is good they hardly give you any meat. The Georgia Pig uses the Carolina's vinegar mustard BBQ sauce, not my favorite. Their men's room is horrific.
(2)
Robert V.
It's cool that its been here for 60 years. The portions are very small and the one sauce is a cross between a Carolina & mustard mix, not that flavorful. For Ft. Lauderdale I would say it is a little bit better than average. Compared to the "World of BBQ" it's a below average food quality joint. Have Fun!

Still a Place in 2013 that doesn't accept credit cards. If ur expecting traditional BBQ , This might not be the spot for you. When asked what was popular, the pork sandwich was recommended. The pork itself is excellent but the portion is size seriously lacking. Side selections are very limited, probably won't go back.

Finally decided to give this place a shot and it was pretty good but not anything amazing. The pulled pork sandwich was good but a little dry and the bun was obviously a cheap store bought brand. The potato salad was nice but nothing to be overly surprised about. I would possibly go back if craving some BBQ, but that is mainly due to the lack of true BBQ restaurants in this area not because of it being great food.
(3)

Would have a five but the only thing holding them back from that is the fact that they do not accept credit cards and I don't usually carry cash. As for the food there though it is the best in south Florida in my opinion. Bring the family for good times.

Great BBQ and great people make this place my favorite lunch spot in town. I never miss gumbo on Tuesday. I could eat their chicken sandwich everyday of the week. ! I honestly do not know how they get so much flavor into it!

I'm a serious BBQ nut and this was no disappointment. Great stuff! Old style traditional southern. Nice sweet and mustardy sauce. A little different than I have had before and a treat. Good slaw and like the collards. Solid and worth going back.

Bring cash and get the pork sandwich, the brunswick stew and the slaw. This is solid BBQ and we would have gone back on Sunday if they had been open!! Love the mustard based BBQ sauce, and the waitress was so friendly. Cash only is a hassle, but if it keeps the prices low I'll bring the green. A very enjoyable experience! Will definitely go back when we're in the area.

Been there several times for breakfast and lunch. Today for lunch. Had BBQ chopped pork sandwich deluxe, which means it comes with fries, cold slaw and a dill pickle for $8.50.. Plenty to eat and is always tasty. Established in 1953, they are always busy. Good pit cooked pork, beef and chicken. Never been disappointed for breakfast. Quite a way from my home but will go back when in the area.

Best BBQ we have been to in South Florida. I have talked about eating at the Georgia Pig since I moved to the Ft. Lauderdale area in 1976. I finally made it. We were greeted with a big hello from our waitress, Mercy. The owner Joann had a few suggestions for us. I had the Slice Pork & Rib Combo Plate and Vivian had the Chopped Pork Dinner, both were outstanding. The coleslaw was the best I had ever eaten. I wish that we had saved room for the homemade desert. Next time, I think we will start with a slice of pie appetizer. We were looking forward to trying the Brunswick Stew but they were sold out. I tried the Chile (it could win an award) and Vivian had the Chicken Gumbo (she loved it!). Be advised... As the 5 signs on the wall said (and on the placemat as well), "We do not accept credit cards, cash only". The only negative thing that I have to say is that I wish that I had tried the Georgia Pig sooner. I have a lot of making up to do. We hope you enjoy this original BBQ as much as we did. This is it, people. This is what I'm talking about. The kind of thing I thought I was giving up when I moved to South Florida. Sure, there are barbeque places here and there -- some are well-known chains, a few are solid options, and several that are downright pathetic. However, Georgia Pig stands apart mainly because it is OLD. F'ING. SCHOOL. The word "quaint" would do it injustice. This is the kind of place that not only balks at the thought of updating its interior, it wears that attitude like a badge of honor. Except for the health inspection certificate, nothing here is younger than a quarter-century. I'm not sure if the cash register even uses electricity. Lining the walls are shelves groaning under the weight of hundreds of anthropomorphic pig collectibles. Any true Southerner knows that the authenticity of a barbeque restaurant can be accurately gauged by the number of smiling cartoon pigs -- some wielding forks and knives, some EVEN APPEAR TO BE GRILLING PORK -- put on display. Behind the counter, a grey-haired man stands with his back to the dining room, tirelessly chopping away at a massive slab of pork, stopping only to transfer it to a platter for assembly into sandwiches. The sandwiches are served on unpretentious hamburger buns -- Merita or equivalent -- and the diner will find himself armed with a bottle of barbeque sauce. Forget the Kansas City style thick overly-sweet syrupy crap. Georgia Pig is all about the vinegar. Theirs is a delicious moppin' sauce that traverses its way down through the pork, soaking the bottom bun. It will seem like you can never use enough sauce. That's correct; you can't. Just go wild. Be prepared to wait. Although South Florida is critically lacking in true Southern barbeque, enough locals appreciate the craft to pack the humble dining room most of the time. Just be patient. It's worth it.

Pork! Why would anyone order beef at a place called The Georgia Pig?

Watch out. You might miss this place if you don't look hard enough. The Georgia Pig is a tiny little shack of a place run by a nice couple. They serve pretty good barbecue here. I tried the brisket sandwich and the pulled pork sandwich. They were both pretty good and relatively inexpensive. It's about $5 for a sandwich, but they aren't that big. The brisket sandwich was pulled when I had it. Not sure if they come sliced or anything. It tasted great. The sauce didn't really overpower the meat but the sauce was good though. It's a mustard based sauce as opposed to normal ketchup and molasses based bbq sauces that you see elsewhere. The pulled pork sandwich was good, but I thought it was a little dry. It might depend too because my friend's sandwich looked a lot better than mine did. I will have to give this place another try, but for right now, I'm going to give it a 3 star.

One of the best sandwiches I've ever ate. I go for the meat sandwich not the pork (I don't eat the swine it's a filthy animal). The meat is tender smoked just right and melts in u'r mouth. Go during lunch when the meat comes out off the fire if u go after 4pm they'll heat it in the microwave - a travesty.

have not been there in quite a while ...Stopped in for lunch..line out both doors lucky to find a seat at the counter.... Had the sliced pork plate added a little texas pete to their mustard based sauce and I was in heaven....plate served with fries coleslaw and garlic bread.....yummmmmmm!

Made a quick detour en route to the Fort Lauderdale airport and found this absolute gem. Unfortunately, they were out of the ribs, at 6pm no less! But I guess that's a sign of how popular the ribs are. In any case, I ordered two chopped bbq pork sandwiches but then audibled into just one chopped bbq pork sandwich and a bowl of the Brunswick stew. Both are terrific, tasty, and exactly what I was looking for in a bbq meal. Chopped bbq pork is kind of like pulled pork but less sloppy. Think of a bbq pork loin chopped into little pieces, some of which stay in cubes, some of which crumble into smaller pieces. The pieces come in a round hamburger-like roll and you can add more bbq sauce or hot sauce to your liking. The Brunswick stew was advertised as the spiciest dish on the menu. And I like spicy, so this was excellent. Crumbled up pieces of bbq beef, some veggies, and some shredded bbq chicken. I couldn't eat it fast enough. If you're in the area, I highly recommend it. I only wish there was a place like this in nyc.

Wouldn't have eaten here if not for a coworker. Awesome lunch spot even if its a hole in wall place! Pulled pork sandwich and there macaroni salad are delicious! One of my favorite lunch spots and not pricey for BBQ. Look to spend about $10 or so with tip.

This place is run by real people, producing real Southern BBQ with real heart. It's frequented by regulars and folks who know what Georgia Pig BBQ is supposed to be. It's all home made and that takes time and care to pull this off day after day. I'm a big fan and only get to visit them maybe once a year. The reviewer that called the place Bleck has no business reviewing this American regional specialty food restaurant. Go have the whole down to earth experience before another hurricane or some developer tries to buy them out and put in a shiny strip mall or something. YAY, I'm a fan!

everytime I goto Fort Lauderdale I try to find another BBQ place, because the last one always seemed to be lacking in some regard. (went to Ernie's the day before, jesus was it bad) so I read a bunch of reviews about microwaved & dry sandwiches... but nothing else was open so I gave it a shot. I must admit mine was microwaved (14 seconds exactly) but not dry. They put a pretty bbq good sauce on it, I probably would have put more but I got it to go. the flavor of the pork was great, nice and smokey. the coconut cream pie was probably the best ive ever had (in fairness I haven't really had many, but It was really damn good). cole slaw too sweet and chopped for my taste, but the pork sandwich was definitely worth it. I can believe the quality could vary depending how long your meat was laying out on the board, but the flavors there. I will return, and get a pork and beef next time. and of course coconut cream pie

I really do not understand why this joint has good reviews, its not even true BBQ! I have ventured into the world of "The best BBQ in South Florida" and this place doesn't even deserve a placing. There's only one waitress for all 10 tables, the pork sandwich was served on a hamburger bun and worst of all, the sauce was so watered down, you can barely taste it. No Mac n cheese, no sweet tea, this place is a joke.

The Georgia Broccoli*: again and again, this is without doubt the best barbeque (barbecue?) I have tasted in SE Florida, and among the very best anywhere. And I eat barbeque a lot, wherever I can find it (contrary to what Amanda of The Pit in Raleigh thinks, I do not like tofu). Incredible balance between oak-smoke- and meat-flavours, plenty of brown, outstanding slaw, Eastern NC sauce on the side (read: vinegary), great Half&Half (we called it an "Arnie"), very friendly service, never-seen-a-renovation interior: it's a classic. (*A close friend and I were trying to think of the health benefits of 'cue, which made me call it "about as healthy as broccoli". Voila, the "Georgia Broccoli".)

I've never had their version of Georgia-style BBQ sauce before, but it was really good. Not tomatoey, but like a thicker version of Carolina-style sauce. My chopped pork was really good and had the perfect texture with a good Smokey flavor. The key lime pie was perfectly tart. Friendly service, cute old-timey atmosphere. I'd go back.

Nothing overly special, but tasty simple BBQ. Close to my house, so I order pick up from here once in a while when I need a BBQ fix. They're menu is pretty basic (not too many side dishes), but if you're craving some bbq pork and slaw, give this place a try.

I was driving in the area and saw smoke billowing from the chimney. Ah....a real BBQ joint, I had to stop. It was lunchtime, just past peak hour. The smell of smoke in the air was wonderful. The place is a dive, but that has no effect on my review. Nothing wrong with that for a bbq restaurant. I wanted to taste ribs and beef, so I got the platter where you could choose two items. The plate came with three ribs, sliced brisket, slaw and fries. The spare ribs were tasty with perfect smoke ring. However, one rib served was from the end of the slab and was so black charred and hard it was not edible. No one should have put that on a diner's plate. The beef also had nice smoke ring and while sliced thin, could tell probably had a nice bark. Problem here was the meat was extremely, extremely tough -- so very hard to chew. The slaw was a little sweet for my taste, but that really wasn't the issue. It was so overly prepared in a food processor it had no texture and was like eating baby food. The fries were good. The sauce is a mustard/vinegar type and didn't care for it at all. Service friendly and quick. Also, they do not have baked beans. To me that's a signature side of a good bbq restaurant. I was looking forward to finding a great place and am disappointed I have no reason to go back.

Quite simply, the best BBQ pork sandwich I've ever eaten. Pork butt slow cooked over a wood fire, chopped up small (with the delicious charred crust pieces thankfully included) and dressed with the best mustard/vinegar based BBQ sauce you could imagine. Serviceable fries, damned good cole slaw, and a zesty pickle spear complete the deluxe plate. Yeah, the building is old and the decore sparse, but you don't eat the digs. And the service was quick and pleasant, which is much more important to me than the decor anyway. They were out of a full day's allotment of ribs by 1:30 when I was in there, so I would imagine they aren't too shabby either, but I can only vouch for the pork. Try it out...you won't be disappointed.

Bleck! I can't understand why anyone goes here or why they are still in business! It's aweful! They get only one star because there is nothing lower. Cheap, dirty and NOT Good barbeque.

I love true barbecue, over wood fire, simply adorned. So the Georgia Pig is nearly perfect. Okay, so the place is a bit rundown -- that's part of the charm. The pulled pork sandwich is about as close to perfection as one can come: pork butt slow smoked over a wood fire then hand chopped with burnt ends into a smoky, juicy filling for soft buns. And the "sauce" is a vinegary marinade with a heavy mustard overtone which is exactly what a smoky butt needs. If all you know is the sweet, tomato-based sauces of Kansas City or even Texas, the Southern style sauce at Georgia Pig is an epiphany. Okay so I'm gushing, but it's that good. The sides are basic fries and coleslaw, nothing to write home about but serviceable. They do offer Brunswick Stew as a special, a Southern staple of meat, carrots, peas, and rich gravy. They also do a pretty good job with fried chicken. I highly recommend the pork plate which is a sandwich with fries and coleslaw, chased by a pork sandwich. If you're in Fort Lauderdale, Miami, or just flying through Fort Lauderdale, take a 20 minute detour from Fort Lauderdale airport to US 441 (about 3 miles west) and stop in to the "Pig. Oh, and they don't open on Sunday.

What respectible bar-b-que joint with the name Georgia in it's title doesn't have sweet tea? Cash only is a bit cumbersome in this day and age. Other than that: the Brunswick stew was absolutely incrdedible and the beef dinner platter was almost Tom Jenkins par.

Being a native of Broward County, I'm sad to say that I have never been here before. This restaurant is old Florida at it's best. A one room with a counter, terrazzo floor joint that hasn't be remodeled in decades. The old southern charm comes out when you meet the wait staff. Just very pleasent and friendly. I had the sliced pork platter with fries and slaw. It was good BBQ. I am more of a red sauce guy and they serve their Q with a mustard base sauce. Not really used to that but again this was my first time there. The meat was nice and smokey and the sides were good too. My favorite was the banana pudding. This was homemade goodness. Noting fancy here, but man do I love these favors. Fresh bananas in a pudding with vanilla wafer cookies topped with whipped cream. Good stuff here.Remember to tell them Dan sent you for the fat free (yeah right lol) banana pudding and Stay Hungry!

i've been here several times. mostly when i'm waiting for my vw to be fixed across the street we stop in and have breakfast. their price for eggs etc is good. i just question the cleanliness of this place..would love to forget about it..i know theres a history here but i really feel like they skimp on the cleaning stuff. in fact...when i was paying last time the waitress was taking my money and doing a "mexican hat dance" (her words) behind the counter. hum? what was she trying to step on? yikes!

(5)Mimi N.
Sweet tea wasn't sweet or cold. BBQ sauce just tasted like vinegar. Pickle was a soggy, overly salty mess. Never again.
(1)Charlotte P.
(4)Najla K.

(4)Damon D.
(5)Curtis R.

(1)Jorge N.
I came here for a quick lunch! The service was amazing and the food was even better. Recommendations: on your first trip try the pork! We had the pork sandwich and the smoked chicken. My friend ordered the bacon cheeseburger! Incredible.
(4)Sergio F.

First time - best time. Come Friday - Real Southern Fried Chicken. After 62 years - they got it right. BBQ Pork Sandwich mashed potatoes gravy, corn Better than wonderful. Homemade pies. You will be treated like family. Come for breakfast, too.

(4)Omar G.

(4)Donna G.
I was pleasantly surprised at this place. It's a hole in the wall spot, but clean and the food was delicious! Not a lot to choose from but regardless what you choose, it will be good! The service was excellent, and you cannot beat their prices!!! It's cash only!
(4)Elaina M.
Pork sand which with cole slaw, French fries and their mustard based sauce. Enough said.

(5)Linda R.

(3)Kethnie M.
Classic Southern Food. I had a pulled pork sandwich and and potato salad. The flavors were very balanced and I LOVED the fact that I could tell I was eating a pork sandwich. My only complain is that I wasn't able to recognize the place, They need a sign. I drove right past it. Cash only.
(4)Bob G.
If your not paying attention you will drive by it
(5)Inez D.
The food was pretty good and it was definitely a very old establishment so it faced some challenges there. But I would go back on fried chicken night...
(3)Kevin W.
to be clear this is more like a 3.75 - but yelp doesnt have that (hint) First and foremost ,very friendly staff. CASH ONLY
(3)David W.

(3)Raymond Z.
(3)Greg G.
Had the chopped pork sandwich. Asked for the burnt ends or what they called an "outside" sandwich. Came with fries and Cole slaw. One of the best tasting pork sandwiches you can get around these parts.
(4)Anca N.
(2)Amie B.
(2)chad f.
(3)Ward S.
(4)Josue M.
(1)Claire S.
(5)Christine W.
(4)Ericka L.
THE BEEF SANDWICH IS TO DIE FOR! Did not get our servers name but, she was very friendly and punctual. Cheap prices! Great food! Very satisfied customer. I will be coming back! oh yea...BRING CASH!
(4)Dennis F.
(5)Marty B.
We'll see.
(2)Cindy S.
(5)R G.
I had the pulled pork sandwich and I did not like it. Their BBQ sauce did not have any flavor to it and the fries were soggy. Cash only place.
(2)Ryan S.
Good Service, but overpriced when you consider the small portion of sandwich your getting. Taste was good, but for 8 bucks I expect a decent size sandwich. Wouldn't recommend this place.
(2)Shane Y.
(5)Xyz A.
Its ok but I prefer Tom Jenkins; coleslaw here though is much better than TJ. Prices better at TJ too.
(3)Ron L.
(3)Kevin C.
#NAME?
(3)Danny S.
As soon as you get out of your car you'll catch the savory odors of smokey goodness that will immediately open your appetite. I had the chopped pork platter that comes with a hearty serving of Brunswick stew Delicious! The place is small so large groups (7 or more) may have trouble getting a table.
(4)John E.
(4)Talia G.
(4)Roke A.
(5)Katherine C.
Very flavorful bbq. My boyfriend and I had the bbq pulled pork sandwich and it was great. Still tasted the smokiness. They do close early for a Saturday and cash only folks!
(3)Anthony R.
Great friendly down home service. The food is good. Like eating at home only better. Breakfast is the best.
(4)J B.
(2)Robert V.
It's cool that its been here for 60 years. The portions are very small and the one sauce is a cross between a Carolina & mustard mix, not that flavorful. For Ft. Lauderdale I would say it is a little bit better than average. Compared to the "World of BBQ" it's a below average food quality joint. Have Fun!
(3)Aaron T.
(2)Jimmi L.
Great little place!! Good food Nice people.
(5)Meghan S.
(3)Joe N.
Would have a five but the only thing holding them back from that is the fact that they do not accept credit cards and I don't usually carry cash. As for the food there though it is the best in south Florida in my opinion. Bring the family for good times.
(4)Angel G.
I can't drive by this restaurant without detouring towards the smell of slow roasted -BBQ'd -pork! Come as you are food for real people with real appetites. SO good!
(4)Rick S.
Great BBQ and great people make this place my favorite lunch spot in town. I never miss gumbo on Tuesday. I could eat their chicken sandwich everyday of the week. ! I honestly do not know how they get so much flavor into it!
(5)Randy W.
I'm a serious BBQ nut and this was no disappointment. Great stuff! Old style traditional southern. Nice sweet and mustardy sauce. A little different than I have had before and a treat. Good slaw and like the collards. Solid and worth going back.
(4)Julie M.
(4)Rick V.
(4)Howard P.

Best pork sandwich I've had. I try to stop every time I'm in town on the way to the airport and have cash. I would give it 5 stars if they took credit cards.

Good stuff!!! Cash only.

Time warp. Back to the 50's. Best pork sandwich in town. Not a chain but a mom and pop place since 1953. They take cash only.

i've been here several times. mostly when i'm waiting for my vw to be fixed across the street we stop in and have breakfast. their price for eggs etc is good. i just question the cleanliness of this place..would love to forget about it..i know theres a history here but i really feel like they skimp on the cleaning stuff. in fact...when i was paying last time the waitress was taking my money and doing a "mexican hat dance" (her words) behind the counter. hum? what was she trying to step on? yikes!
