84 Diner & Lounge Menu

Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

This was our first and last visit to 84 Diner. To begin with, the service was slow, and we noticed (after we had eaten) that the floor was filthy. On a positive note, the waitress was friendly, but took quite awhile to come take our order. Then the food arrived, or should I say, the prepackaged crap. The salads were prepackaged lettuce and carrot shavings with an added tomato slice and a couple slices of cucumber on the side. I had the spaghetti with marinara. It was disgusting. It tasted like Chef-boy-ardee, and the noodles were the same consistency as the canned junk. My daughter had the spaghetti with meatballs. One of the meatballs was warm, but the other was cold. My husband had the chili, which he described as "okay". We had planned on placing a to go order, but left and picked up McDonald's for our other daughter instead. Yes, it was that bad.

Two thumbs up for their matzoh ball soup it brought me back to life and it's nursed me back to health! This place has been around forever apparently it's in the windixie shopping plaza off state road 84. The place itself is nothing to write home about exactly how what you would expect from a dinner from the decor to the the patrons. The star of this review the matzoh ball soup it's delicious! The broth is full of flavor with small noodles. The bowl comes with two huge matzoh balls and with warm challah bread! I was totally full after a bowl of it, they're definitely generous with their portions. They have an extensive menu of different kinds of cuisines. I haven't tried anything else maybe I will one day but I probably won't, if it ain't broke don't fix!

The dinner specials are so expensive you have to check twice to see if you are looking at a specials menu. Patty melt and spaghetti with meatballs took almost 20 minutes. And there was hardly anyone there! I remember when there was always a line waiting to get in. these new owners have no clue how to run a diner and price food. I really miss the old 84 diner open 24 hours. Oh well, searching on!

Service was horrible. My best friend suffers from a severe dairy allergy. When we asked the server what the food was cooked in, she replied "I don't know." We asked if she could find out and she said "I'm too busy to find out for you." The manager, who was just as useless, informed us that margarine is used. We told him margarine was no good and he said "Okay, margarine is okay." He then walked off while we were still talking to him. If you are in the food industry...please know what your restaurant cooks with. More and more people are developing food allergies that can result in death.

Place is clean and spacious. Bigger than I thought when coming in. Our waitress was very nice even allowing us to substitute some items from the menu for others. The kids portions were big. We ordered the Mickey pancakes and it was bigger than I thought. However the taste of the pancakes was nothing extraordinary. I ordered eggs with bacon and pancakes. Eggs were good, bacon was good, but again pancakes tasted burnt even though they didn't look it. Meal was ok and priced right but unfortunately I don't think I will be coming back. Worth checking out if on a budget or looking for an ok meal.

This place has really gone downhill. The new ownership did a nice remodel, but our last visit was a nightmare. Greek diners know how to make spinach pie, right? Not this one. It was soggy. Ordered a burger medium rare and it came out well done. Time from takeout order to pickup was 40 minutes. A website "contact us" was never returned.

The blond lady at the entrance is a stuck up snob and if I hadn't had a fantastic server is never go back. I've been a half dozen times now and always had good service. The older guy is funny and always has a smile. Only problem I've had is that blond lady. So rude. I've had the omelets and French toast meals. Both were delicious. The corn beef hash was excellent. They with make it crispy if you ask. Yummy that way. Coffee is better than average. Sandwiches looked appetizing but have yet to eat one.

The worst breakfast I ever had as far as I can remember. No taste whatsoever. My wife agreed, she had the French Toast. I had the eggs Benedict. Even the coffee didn't taste good. The only positive was the service. Can't blame them for the food.

The service is great here. The food is pretty good, but some menu items are hit or miss. Food is greasy but it's fantastic for diner food or if you are craving comfort food. Huge selection of menu items-- Italian, classic diner, Greek. You can't go wrong if you want variety. The place is huge, so you're not piled on top of another table and you barely ever have to wait to be seated. I like coming here when I'm in the mood for diner food. My husband loves it and always wants to come here so he'd probably give it 4 stars.

Gave the 84 a second chance. Would not go back for a 3rd. I had meatloaf which had no flavor and left bad aftertaste. Left most of it for garbage. Gravy was like out of a can. Mashed potatoes were fake. Person with me had chicken Parmesan which was okay, but the pasta/sauce that came with resembled canned and tasted worse. Waitress was nice tho - that's the only positive thing :)

I've never come to this place for anything other than breakfast, so this is really just a breakfast review. I've been coming to 84 diner with my family for over 10 years. And whenever i visit home to south florida we always make sure to stop in for breakfast. The breakfast is really good quality, they don't slack or skim on anything. I absolutely love their spinach and feta cheese omelet, its huge you get a huge side of potatoes and bread for 6 bucks! its crazy and really good. Some of the servers have been there for as long as i can remember and its nice to always see familiar faces. Never a bad experience in over 10 yrs! highly recommend, for breakfast at least!

I enjoyed a Athenian Omelette there this fine morning. The joint appears to be fairly popular with oldsters and the North Miami Beach SWAT team. The omelette rocked, the Mango Smoothie blew as someone tried to pass off mango daiquiri mix as a smoothie (gag). I would happily go back again and recommend the joint to others. Just pass on the smoothies. I really want to have a cocktail there and see what crazy sight that would be as the place has a bar in the breakfast area and it looks, uh, incongruous.... :-)

I've been going here for years . The service is amazing the place is clean the food is great. My family and I have had a great experience every time we come to eat no matter what day or time we go . The 84 diner is abousloutly fabulous .

It appears that the only thing this diner gets right is the service. Our waitress was great. Very friendly and frequently checked up on my wife and I. The food was awful. I got, which was essentially thinly sliced prime rib. It sat in the sauce for so long that it was more of a pink mush. I could choke down about 1/2 of it before I gave up. My wife got a burger with sauteed mushrooms. I'm not sure how the word saute translates into greek, but apparently it means take from fridge and put right on burger. The mushrooms were cold. If you really want a diner, continue down Sr 84 and make a right on 136th and hit Lesters. Worth the extra few miles.

Good breakfast menu with plenty of options. I had the gyro meat with scrambled eggs, toast, hash browns and was a happy camper. The rolled pancakes with apple inside looked very good too. Our service wasn't the best, but I think we were just unlucky this time. I'll be back for sure. Large diner with lots of tables and booths. Big screen tv's for watching the World Cup were a nice bonus.

This is our go-to lunch spot - a local greek diner that serves everything under the sun and we can come in grubby from yard work. Lots of people love their breakfasts, but we mainly stick to their greek menu - gyros, soulvaki (pork and chicken), spanakopita, dolamdes... all great. The prices are good to and the servings are pretty big. They are normally open late at night too and have great soups served with challah bread. (or at least they used to be open till the wee hours of the morning...) I've been coming here since I was in highschool and hope they keep sticking around.

I agree with Jason. The Blond(s) at the front desk have no clue how to treat people. I've been coming here for 30 years. There is a young girl and an older lady. The younger lady is relatively new. She started about April 2015. As a regular, I have my preferred places to sit yet she doesn't want to let you sit where you want to. She insisted that one guy who was in line close to me sit at the bar because he was a single. He didn't want to sit at the bar so he walked out. The older blond has been there a long time and has always seemed as though she thinks that her job us beneath her and that she believes herself to be better than you. The service us generally pretty good. Many of the servers have been there for years. The food for me has always been great and usually comes pretty quickly whether they are slammed or slow. I go there for the deep fried bacon. It's crisp and not greasy at all. Try it. They will get more stars if they replace their hostesses.

Great place, great service, best diner around. After our horrible service at Tower deli we came here and were seated and served right away. No overcrowded seats, these Greeks really got it going.

  • Jason B.

If I could leave zero stars, I would. To start, the manager/owner berates his employees in front of customers. Totally awkward. Let's discuss the menu. Photos look great and tons of options. You then get your food and it looks nothing like your great menu selection. You just got cat fished. The taste... Greasy and lacking in everything. Even the veggie omelette was greasy. I will never return to this place. Manager/owner, whoever he is, is just a dick to his employees and it's sad.

  • Pam C.

I have tried breakfast here a few times. The service is terrible. The food is good when it comes but today I gave up and went elsewhere. Don't ask people to wait to be seated if you can't fit seating them in between taking other orders and delivering food. Ten minutes is too long to be ignored with most tables empty and ready. I believe in second chances but after 3 strikes, you're out!

This place is another classic, but not in a positive way. I used to come here as a kid with my family because when my grandparents were visiting from out of town, they always wanted to come here for some unknown reason (yea, because they're old, rich, & cheap but that's another story lol). Once upon a time, my father ordered the chicken parmesan. It looked great at first, I tasted it & as soon as I tasted it I knew something was off about it....because they gave us FISH parmesan. The cook mixed up the chicken with fish.. (he said it looked similar, which is another red flag). That story pretty much sums this place up. It actually is still a family joke til this day, 16 yrs later haha. So thank you 84 Diner for the memories & laughs, but no thanks for the food...or the fish parm. I still live with that taste in my mouth. Terrible.

One of the worst meal I ever had my wife's egg white omelette had greasy hash browns in it by mistake my steak kabob dinner tasted like a over cooked freezer burnt shoe the only good thing was the waitress kept apologizing for the 30 min wait to get our food and the food being bad

    (1)
  • Luke S.

I went here for brunch on a Saturday morning. My friends and I were looking for a place that could make us a Bloody Mary to help ease the hangover. The owner personally made our drinks with gusto! It was overall a very friendly and comfortable experience with the staff. The food was of course great and plentiful. You get a lot for what you pay for. The bill was very reasonable.

  • Lemon G.

The food here is definitely diner material. They serve large portions and really get you stuffed but some ingredients taste like they came from cans, like the mushrooms. I'm not a fan of their food, tastes bland. For that, I get the menu and try to make it better at home. I asked for orange juice and I saw the lady pull out a cheap bottle from underneath the counter and poured me some hot orange juice that didn't taste like OJ. It tasted kinda like the Sunkist orange juice. They don't have the fresh, cold juices. This place is definitely expensive if you're not a senior. Seniors eat a lot cheaper, some days I believe.

We went there for Father's Day breakfast and they were so unstaffed it was unbelievable. We were a big party of 25 so we figured everything won't be out all together but we had ONE waitress! Crazy the poor girl was doing the best she could but she has no support from management. The restaurant manager was completely unprofessional! She was so rude and nasty. I will probably never go back.

  • Jason S.

Stopped here passing through the area while on vacation with family. I don't even know where to start. The menu is way too cluttered. There are too many items being offered, it doesn't allow the business to focus on a speciality. Supposedly it's supposed to be Greek food but when the waitress pronounces the gyro as a "ji-ro", it's not a good sign. Between the 8 of us we ordered the gyro platter, Philly cheese steak, patty melt, a cheeseburger, a chili cheese dog, biscuits and gravy, chicken cordon blue, and country fried steak with eggs. All the meals were barely edible with the exception of the gyro platter which was still mediocre at best. The staff offered us free slices of pumpkin pie once they realized our displeasure with the food. The dough of the pie was still completely raw and the pumpkin filling tasted like the purée you get out of a can. Now I will applaud the efforts by the staff to do their best, but in the end bad food is still bad food. Side Note: at the time of this review and when we went, the establishment had a poster hanging in the front claiming to be voted in the Top Ten eateries for 2013 in the area by the local news station, not sure how they managed that.

Worst customer service!! I am so disappointed in this restaurant. I used to come here all the time as a little girl and never had a problem. We sat down to eat on a Sunday morning, and placed our orders. My good friend who has a SEVERE DAIRY ALLERGY asked our server if she knew if the cooks in the back cooked with any type of margarine and her response back to us was, "I'm really busy right now, and I don't even know who to ask". THIS IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE!!!! We then called the manager over and he could barely give us his attention long enough to explain what just happened. He gave us a bogus excuse as to why she answered us like that and how she's been here for 20 years. You'd think she'd have a bit better service for working somewhere for 20 years. When we then tried to explain her allergy to him, he brushed us off!!! I will give it to the server as she did bring over some of the packaging and let us read the labels. Dairy allergies are very serious and an establishment that treats people this way should not even be opened!! DO NOT EAT HERE!!!!

Three eggs, two sausage patties, hashbrowns, toast and coffee for less than five dollars!! Amazing!!

  • Stephen S.

Price was great, food was hot, came quick, service was prompt and friendly... What more can you ask for. Definitely a diner, but delivers.

    (4)
  • Theresa C.

I read some of the reviews and it looks like the expectations were way too high for a neighborhood diner. The food is good, the portions are large enough to split and the staff is friendly and very accommodating. If you want a decent meal at a fair price, this is a good option.

    (4)
  • Caroline L.

If I could give this restaurant zero stars I would. The are managers rude and disrespectful. We not only waited an hour to sit down but another hour for our small order of eggs. No one came over to apologize or let us know the status of our order. When we asked about our food we were given a dirty look and no explanation. Worst place ever. Do yourself a favor and STAY AWAY!

My favorite place to eat in Davie so far. Everything is delicious. The pancakes have a funnel-cake taste to them, the spinach pie is amazingly authentic and everything else on the menu is just as good. What I love is that despite being a diner, their specialty is Greek food. You dont see that everyday. The service is what puts this place over the top. The staff knows everyone by first name and the food always comes out fast no matter how busy they are. Our favorite waitress is Leslie so ask to sit in her section.

Always eat here when the family goes to Florida for vacation. As a New Yorker we are spoiled with good food and this place is no different. Great food, great prices and very friendly staff. We haven't eaten a single thing we did not like. Have been going there for years and will continue to. Try the omelettes they are delicious!!

We used to come here many times when we lived in Plantation. Now that we live down in Pembroke Pines, its been spotty. We went today for the first time in probably a year. If it is another year, it wouldn't be the end of the world. The nice thing about 84 Diner is nothing is overly seasoned. When you're like me and you're constantly watching sodium intake, that can be welcoming. However, I find the food at 84 Diner to be a bit too bland for my tastes. It seems obvious that certain ingredients are at times less-than-fresh (read: canned), particularly vegetables. Except for beans, I really don't eat canned vegetables - I prefer fresh or frozen. Canned food is usually mushy and tastes different, and the vegetables at 84 Diner are usually mushy and tastes different. Perhaps some people don't mind being served canned food at a restaurant, but I'm of the opinion that if I'm paying someone to cook my food, I expect them to stock and serve fresh food. A mushroom omelet with canned mushrooms is not what most people expect when they order a mushroom omelet - it changes the taste. Breakfast is the safest bet at 84 Diner. I've done lunch and dinner there in the past and its been "okay" - nothing to write home about, but not bad. Just "okay." The service people at 84 Diner seem to have been there forever. They're polite and attentive. Portions are on the large side and the prices are quite fair. There are better diners in the area - take a drive a bit east and visit Flashback Diner in Davie instead.

dirty diner with very hit or miss food.. A couple of really nice servers but a few more very rude ones!! They need a restaurant face lift

The food is good and the employees are hard working but the owner's treatment of patrons and employees completely soured our experience to the point of making our meal unenjoyable. We've eaten here numerous times before (under previous management) and a adly we will not return.

As a family of 5....who REALLY likes good food....we love this place. First the food....greek diner & everything we've had here has been great. Last time was Spanikopita & Gyro. The Spanikopita was absolutely perfect & really big. The lamb for the gyro was perfectly delicious. The kids had spaghetti w/ a HUGE meatball each. Parents....Mon - Thur, 3PM - close....KIDS EAT FREE w/ an adult meal. The 3rd child is a baby.....after tip was $29.00. From my experience, you can close your eyes, point to the menu & you'll be happy. The place is clean, waitresses nice & witty & they have some really good desserts too....we're normally too full to try them though

84 diner runs hot and cold; usually good portions but the fish dinner the other night was small, my salad was just ok...service was not great and it was not even busy. used to be a very crowded restaurant and now the back is always closed. not a big fan anymore

I've heard good things about this Resturaunt. So when my good friend Kari suggested we should have dinner their with our kids(her treat), I said "sure"!! The inside looked like a typical diner, lots of booth seating. Nothing fancy. The waitstaff was great. Very polite and friendly. The owner even came over to give the kids the pass key for the wifi so they could entertain themselves on their phones while we waited for our food. All of the children ordered BLT's on wheat(sounds odd. I know) and French fries. Kari ordered a Philly cheesesteak sub and I had the 84 Burger. I know. I know. Again with the burger!? Hey I don't eat it at home so I had to have it!! Don't judge me!! The food was excellent for the price. Both the sub and burger were $8.99 and it included fries. The children were a bit overwhelmed with the size of their BLT's(Huge) but they loved them!! There is soo much to choose from, breakfast to soups, salads and or lobster! You can't go wrong here... Over all the experience was really nice. The children got to spend time with their friends and Kari and I got a chance to catch up. At the end one of the staff members came by and performed magic tricks for the kids. Cute!! I will defiantly go back again maybe this time for dessert, black and white cookies!!

Seedy as Hell but the food was good, and the prices are fair. Clear tension between the Manager/Owner and employees, borderline abuse. He freaked out about a pen being missing. Will go back though because the food was delicious.

  • William L.

Diner food at a reasonable price. Now that the 99 cent breakfast without coffee is gone, try the $3.45 three egg deal including coffee. Same breakfast - almost the same deal. Tell them Bill Lewis sent you.

    (3)
  • Bill B.

Typical diner. Lots of cheap breads pastries, etc. I had the western omelet and asked to substitute tomatoes for the toast and potatoes. No way! They charged me extra for tomatoes even though I denied the bread and potatoes! Reminds me of a freeway truckstop. And the bathroom stinks and needs a thorough cleaning. I was afraid to even turn on the water faucet! Yuch!!

  • David W.

Great place to grab a bite be it breakfast , lunch or dinner. With a huge menu from biscuits and gravy to Greek dinner platters, there is something for everybody. Everything my family and I have tried has been good. We have been here for every meal time, not that it matters, you can get breakfast for dinner. There omelets are great and all of the Greek dishes are as well. Service is always fast and attentive. Always a solid choice when your not sure what you want to eat.

I have lived nearby for almost a decade and I've been here three times. I remember each of the three times because of how bad of an experience I had. I understand it's a diner, but the food quality is way worse than any diner I've ever eaten at, and I have eaten at a lot, especially in New York. The place is really old and dirty and needs to be cleaned up. The bathrooms are absolutely disgusting and I'd rather go home and come back to continue my meal if I had to. On one occasion I ordered a simple cheeseburger. I got it pretty quickly but noticed there was no cheese. I lifted the bun and saw enough human hair to clog a sink drain on top of the patty. That was the last time I ever went there and I will not go back there again. I would not recommend this place to ANYONE, not even those I dislike.

  • Susan L.

I ate lunch there on a Saturday in early 4/03, and I liked it so much that I returned for dinner with my husband & a colleague of his. The majority of patrons were retirees who apparently live in that area and the diner holds an astounding *400* people (it's also open from 6:00 a.m.-1:00 a.m.). The vegetarian lasagna and the spinach pie were delicious. Both portions were generous and came with a cup of (seafood bisque) soup, several slices of bread and a vegetable. The prices were incredibly reasonable, too. The service was very efficient, and the dessert case had many cakes & pies that looked sinfully-delicious (all baking is done on the premises).

This is a pretty good diner. Went for breakfast today, solid staff. Can always count on this place when I want a good old bacon & eggs type breakfast. Never been here for any other meal. Plenty of parking. Very large dining area, bar for loners that don't need a booth or table. It gets busy on the weekends but the staff keeps up. Consistantly reliable.

  • marie m.

Nauseating. Seriously, one of the two most disgusting diners I've ever had the misfortune to eat at (the other is also in the area, the Inverrary Diner). I had a turkey open-faced sandwich, and the gravy, which was bright yellow, tasted of lemon! No one in our party had anything good to say about their meal. The place is filthy, too. I don't know, since the L&M somewhat north on State Road 7 closed years ago, I have yet to find a good diner in the Broward County area (Toojays is pretty good, though). If this place were in Brooklyn, they couldn't stay open a week with food this really, really BAD.

  • Patrice B.

I've been here several times and never had any complaints. Gets busy on the weekends, but the wait is short. I like the greek egg omelet with feta cheese. Really good.

Excellent cure for a wicked hangover! I had the gyro, feta, and tomato omlette plus homefries, toast, and coffee. All is good and ready to enjoy all So. Fla. has to offer!

  • Simon L.

This place is good, and for the service I would give it four stars because this place has the whole diner system down pat. When I go to a diner I look for a couple things: (1) Quick Service - Four Stars -This place was fast. They get your order right, let me fill your coffee pot up. (2) Price - Three stars, I think they charge too much for the simple 2 egg with bacon breakfast platter which should be $5 with tax (Northeast Price), but they put one down for over $6. (3) Quality - Three Stars - They will get your order right, lets face the facts, this is diner food. The only disappointment would be the potatoes, this should be a staple of any place serving, at least this is important to me. I found them a little uninspiring, they basically cube and oven cook the poatoes. Overall I go here out of convenience, I cannot speak for any sort of lunch/dinner meals since its all breakfast for me at this place. I would recommend going here as you will not be let down, but if you have that special place already picked out, don't venture too far out of your way for this place.
