High Blood Pressure at Applebee's
Most of the foods served at Applebee's restaurants are high in sodium. Unless you are visiting the restaurant or dining here in the group, there are hardly any options from the main meals if you wish to keep your blood pressure in check. Later the company and the Applebee's concept changed hands with Abe Gustin and John Hamra who started the first Applebee's franchise restaurant in Kansas City.

My husband and I like to frequent here on Saturday nights for the trivia and two for one specials. The food isn't anything to write home about, however. Service is sketchy at best. We usually sit at the bar and the male bartender is super nice and friendly, very on top of things. They have a female that is bartending some, I can do without her attitude. If you have a complaint, forget getting the blonde, female manager to help you. She, too, has an attitude as big as Texas; however, there is a younger male manager that is pleasing. One thing that is a huge turn off - the workers that are off like to hang around the bar. Yes, they have a right to eat after work. I wouldn't mind if that is what they were doing. They are just hanging over the end of the bar with less than pleasant conversations. So - go for trivia and drinks.....eat first. :)

Don't bother!!! Unwrapped silverware to find a thick layer of old, caked-on food on it. ( mashed potatoes ? ) No way the person who wrapped the silverware could miss that! Slow service. Tiny portions. Food took forever to come out, and food was cold. Really, save yourself some money, time, and frustration--- go elsewhere!

We've stopping going here because the food seemed to keep getting worse and worse. Our favorite servers left and we haven't felt like the food was good enough to go back for.
(2)Erynn H.
It's an average Applebee's. Was told that if I was going to sit at the bar and order the late night menu (cheap appetizers) I couldn't order a water and had to order a drink. I don't drink soda and didn't want booze. Thankfully my fiancée met me and he ordered a tea. Seems an odd policy.
(3)Laura H.
Very average. It was very busy for a Thursday night. Server was really good but burgers came out burnt. One of us ordered a classic and it came with a bun and a tomato! I was told this place is always busy so come early!!
(2)Tom M.
The place was packed at 8 pm so we opted to sit outside. Despite my concern that we would be ignored, the service was actually quite good, and the server was friendly and fun to talk to. The manager even walked by and checked on us out on the patio. Our food arrived as ordered and quickly. Since we didn't go inside - never got past the host stand - I have no idea what the inside of this place looks like. I assume it's a nice place inside too.
(3)Lester F.
Amazing. They are not interested in business. Was seated outside and ignored for twenty minutes. I left.

Service sucked, as usual--but we left a tip for the waitress that was some where else and not where she should be-- Whatever--

We've all been to Applebee's at least once in our lives so we know the food isn't anything too fancy. Anyway we needed a quick place to have dinner & preferably serving alcohol. The Applebee's was 2 minutes from our hotel so we stopped by. I wish I could remember out waitress' name because she was awesome. The customer service was spot on and we had a nice family meal. Good experience at this specific location.

I went for lunch on a Saturday afternoon, the place was very slow, my server was not too attentive but nice. Food was rather warm than hot and fresh, mozzarella sticks were not fried thoroughly, instead they were clumpy and the cheese solid. The chicken was partially burnt hidden under the lime sauce. It just wasn't a great dining experience for the family and I.
(2)Joe B.
I been to this location at least twice. Both time I had issues. This last time will be the last time. I got to say the server was awesome. But the food was the worst. My burger had a crust like it was fried. My fries was old and the place just open. I ask for the house sauce on the side. I got that but they put it on the bum and tried to wipe it off. I felt sick after seeing some of the food runners or servers. They look dirty. The manager didn't give me a warm feeling that new what was on the menu or ingredient. Maybe I had an allergy to an ingredient. Just not worth it. This place need help and fast.

This one is going to be off my list now, my kid ordered chicken Alfredo, but it came out Mac cheese, then after changed it came out chicken Alfredo without Chicken. Waitress was nice, but food are so disappointed. My husband order the Steak but it came out nothing like menu said with mushroom and red pepper, we only found one piece of mushroom and no red pepper at all. After talked to the manager, finally corrected everything but rest of us already done dinner but my husband just started his dinner. Awful restaurant!!! Never wants to come here again.

We used to like going to this Applebees but it has gone down hill. I watched the frozen beverage that I ordered sit on the bar and melt, while the server was talking to a friend that was eating at the bar. My husband and I both ordered 7 ounce sirloins medium, but when they came to the table they were both well done. They cooked us two more steaks they were still not really medium but we accept them anyway. I think whoever was cooking them just didn't know how to cook steak. Through all of this no manager bothered to visit the table. Also we sat very close to the door so we noticed other people coming and not being greeted by the hostess, we also noticed a table sitting there waiting on our server to greet them. The restaurant was almost empty so there was no excuse for any of the above to have happened.lots of chances. This is the only Applebees close to our home. It is only safe to order appetizers and maybe desserts from a place like this.

Better environment than six months ago. Employees with long hair now have it tied back, and it is cleaner. Adam is by far the best server there. The food was absolutely excellent. I've only had one bad experience out of dozens here, and this counts as yet another great experience. The atmosphere has really improved. I'm assuming they had a management change, and with this review, allow me to confirm that it worked.
(4)Mike P.
Wow. Should have read more of earlier review. Normally don't like going to chains but when traveling and need a late meal in mid week it's sometimes the only option, like last night. Walked and place smelled like vomit. Really. I wanted to leave but was only place open and my teenage son was hungry. So we sat and had a burger and some apps. Looking around the floor looked there was a food fight earlier. Someone came to sweep as we were eating. Need less to say we won't be back and will think at least twice before going to any Applebee's again.

I was seriously contemplating giving it 1 star. The only reason I didn't is because of Ashley who is an absolute sweetheart and another younger guy from the Philadelphia area whose name I can't remember. Ashley knows how to run the bar, she was thorough and effective. She had a wonderful attitude and a bright smile. Unfortunately, I can't go back. The first night was cool but when I went back the second night, the bar stunk like vomit. Ashley and the other dude were serving and the bartenders that were on duty didn't even acknowledge me after standing there for 5 minutes. I walked out. Tried going back a 2nd time after that and again the bar stunk like vomit so bad I was about to get sick. You can't really smell it throughout the rest of the restaurant but you definitely smell it if you stand next to the video game machine at the bar. Any place that has that kind of smell is a definite "No" when it comes to eating their food. The first time I smelled it, I brought it to the attention of the manager and he couldn't smell it. I know I'm not crazy, it's really gross. I don't see myself ever trusting that place enough to go back in.
(2)Ash L.
The worst experience. I went in around 11:30 pm after work for a drink. I see on the table that they have 1/2 off appetizers, and the new feature was pot stickers. I decided to try them out. First they were deep fried and tasted horrible. But I didn't want to complain so I continued to eat them. About 5 minutes I started to feel itchy and I realized I was getting welts all over. I asked the server what exactly were in those pot stickers. He replies shrimp and pork. And was like oh you're having an allergic reaction. And just walks away. Never did anything nor call a manager. I was so upset. Nothing was done.

Good service, food came out fast, nothing bad to say bjt notbing great either. Thsre is a lot of different plsces to eat here in town i would recomend you look around for something better.
(3)Ron S.
Found the food to be good and the service to be quite excellent. It was a quiet night as I think that most of the snowbirds had already headed north for the winter. All three of us found the value for your dollar to be satisfactory.
(4)Lana A.
This is a mixed review. On the good side, Applebee's makes a great burger, hot and freshly cooked to order. The wait staff are friendly and helpful. Atmosphere of this particular restaurant is cozy and comfortable. On the not so good side, seafood and side dishes here come up a bit wanting. The "double crunch panko-breaded" fried shrimp was generous enough in portion size, but definitely not "doubly" crunchy and did not resemble any panko breading that we'd ever seen before. In addition, the shrimp was very thin, salty and greasy. Onion rings were pooled in grease, as well. French fries were not greasy but overloaded with salt to the point we had to brush each piece off before eating. And the coleslaw was so skimpy on sauce that they should be honest and simply call it cabbage. Despite a new device on Applebee's tables for electronically requesting service from wait staff, attention was a bit lacking and forgetful. The device apparently sends a signal to a watch-like bracelet worn by the wait staff, who, in turn, are supposed to come back to your table to see what might be needed. Instead, the busy wait staff sometimes turns off the signal and then forgets to respond. Given the fact that we don't like to make demands to begin with, this non-response led to a feeling of uncertainty as to whether we should push the button again, which might make it appear that we are, in fact, demanding. As a result, we prefer the old method of flagging down wait staff when necessary or, better yet, being checked by the staff on an occasional basis on their own. A good waiter or waitress watches to see which customers might be trying to get their attention. Another weird thing about Applebee's -- at least this one -- is the apparent demand by the corporation that the restaurant manager visit each table at least once during the customer's visit. There is a card at each table stating that if he or she does not do so, they forfeit a $10 gift coupon toward the customer's next visit. As a result, the manager at this Applebee's visited the table too many times for our taste. We do not go to restaurants to hobnob with the staff. It's great if they're nice, but please don't hover!
(3)Crystal C.
Our server was good. My son and I got the 2 for $20 and started off with the buffalo boneless wings which were good. I had the chicken and shrimp and potatoes (Cajun) presentation was terrible and potatoes looked like they were from lunch. My son had the chicken fingers and fries (hard to screw up) My chicken and shrimp were OK but had to have a microscope to see the shrimp. I told our waitress the potatoes were inedible. She did bring some fresh ones but there were no Cajun spice at all. I also had the sangria which was a glorified glass of wine with fruit (no flavor) never again, there was "sangria" taste which I love :( We also had the molting lava cake with ice cream which was divine however when the bill came the price was almost $1.00 more and I pointed that out and the waitress said "oh they were suppose to tape over the price because that went up" she did adjust the price accordingly but I wonder how many people don't even look at their bill.
