This place is absolutely wonderful! The atmosphere is fun and enjoyable. The servers are very helpful and kind, and the food is delicious. Don't like Mexican? They have chicken fingers and burgers!

El Jalisco in Crawfordville does an amazing business. That said, it basically has no competition in Wakulla. Some of their dishes are quite tasty. Their service depends on their level of staffing and the size of the crowd. On a Friday night, count on a packed house and a 10-20 minute wait for a table. Once at a table, your service may be slow. The noise level will be deafening. In Wakulla, your alternative for Mexican is to drive 15 miles back into Leon County. So, you deal with the wait and slow service to eat some not half bad Mexican food. I also recommend ignoring the dubious cleanliness of the establishment. It is sort of a dive, take it at face value. El Jalisco has tasty salsa. They have good happy hour specials. The Mexican lasagna is yummy comfort food. My husband loves the Mexican grilled chicken. They just started offering table side guacamole. I have not sampled it yet but I watched it being made and the presentation is impressive. This place is 5 minutes from my house and my husband and I eat in the dining room or get take out here at least once a week. The food is comparable to the El Jalisco locations in Tallahassee.

Very, very good Mexican Food. Good service, reasonable prices, maybe too cheap considering the quality. I'll be back!

Nothing special about this Mexican place, except that it's the only one in Crawfordville. Service is super-fast, prices are on the cheap side, and there is always a drink special. Food is decent, a step up from Taco Bell but nothing to write home about. We always order a Taco Salad (for me) and fajitas (for the husband) and they never disappoint. Don't waste money on queso dip - it is watery. Nothing to make a special trip for, but there aren't many options in this small town!

Something has changed about this place. It used to feel fun and relaxing with great food, but the last three times I felt rushed by the waiter and did not see a smile once on any staff member's face. The food has somehow lost its quality...cold beans, crunchy rice, watery salsa. I enjoy the ambiance of the place but boy I sure do miss the great food! I guess I will just go to the one in Tallahassee when I crave El Jalisco's.

Went there for lunch-my wife had a tostada & I had a lunch special, with a taco, enchilada, and burrito. Chips and salsa were served as we sat down. The salsa was thin and all liquid, with a few pieces of onion and tomato. I picked chicken for the burrito, which made everything else chicken also. Supposed to have beans and rice in it, but it was about an inch thick and was all chicken, flavored with lots of garlic powder, which left a really nasty taste in my mouth the rest of the day. The same went for the tostada-mostly iceberg lettuce over lukewarm refried beans,, a blop of sour cream and a lot of unmelted cheese all over it. No one is putting any heart into the cooking & everything tasted like it was out of a can. To be fair, it was a lot of food for the price, but not good at all. The service was fast & friendly, but we wouldn't go back.

I ate here Christmas Eve. The staff was all very pleasant to be working when everything else was closed. We had the combo fajitas and some margaritas. Plenty of good and the quality was high. Not the best I've had but definitely very good for the only Mexican restaurant in the county.

Went to El Jalisco last week. I have never been to El Jalisco before (either location), I enjoyed my food, and I also enjoyed the 2 for 1 strawberry margaritas ($8 for 2). The free chips & salsa was very good too. I will definitely go back.

Wonderful Mexican food and outstanding service. Have eaten there about 40 times and can't remember one bad meal. I took a large crowd there after my daughter's graduation and although they couldn't seat us together, did a nice job serving us.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
