I love a good burger. Char Hut is now on my list of favorites. I loved everything about this place but let's get to the point, and that's the burger. I ordered the char burger with cheddar on a wheat bun cooked medium. The burger was cooked to perfection, medium means the meat has just about lost all its pink and they got it right. The bun was fresh and a perfect accompaniment. After your burger is cooked you go to the bar and pick all the toppings you want for no extra charge! They have everything from raw onions to fried onion strings, fresh veggies and delicious sauces. That char taste makes you feel like you are at a summer picnic. They have a nice variety of sides. I went with the sweet potato fries and they offered me marshmallow sauce for dipping. That is unique and delicious. Finally they have the coke machines where you get to mix and choose your favorite fountain beverage. Overall it was a great experience, from the friendly staff to the clean and comfortable dining room.

Burger was very tasty... Expect to pay about $10 for the complete meal (burger, fries, drink) . They also have the coke machine that is computerized .

I was excited to see CharHut come to the neighborhood. I've been there twice since their opening. Disappointed on both occasions. Stale bread, unripe tomatoes, old lettuce. I gave it a second chance only because I figured everyone has an off day once in a while. But twice in a row is a pattern of mediocrity. Never again.

With my prior review, I might have spoken too soon. My wife and I went recently after an evening meeting to get a couple of fresh grilled chicken sandwiches and when got home to eat them, my chicken was undercooked. I don't know how it's possible to do so, but no one is perfect. Id still give them another shot to redeem themselves.

After successful trip after trip to the " old " Char Huts I assumed the food would be on par, after all its a Char Hut! The price of the food is basically irrelevant in the sense that if whatever you pay doesn't make so happy you can't wait to return then you wasted your $$. I left this Char Hut with no real time table for a return, I was completely underwhelmed. Yes the one in Tamarac has ugly furniture and is small and not always appetizing looking but what it did do was cook burgers and produce food with a certain quality level that completely satisfied customers to the point that it was " cool " to say you visited the place. Having one freestyle coke machine and no napkins on the tables is an inconvenient cost-cutting move that hurts the flow of the business. No music in the place left me with a sterile and almost cold feeling as I sat there trying to enjoy the burger that was barely cooked ( see pic ) funny because the girl asked if I wanted it medium or medium well. The hot dog fell through the bun because the bread was cracked ( probably from not being fresh ) the hot dog itself was good though? The produce in the pans looked sad and not too fresh. Tomatoes unripe, romaine rusted, onions dry not much of it screamed "edible ". Verdict: probably the last time I make a one hour round-trip to see some half-smiling faces stand in front of bread and produce that expired. I'll stick to the usual burger fi or just cook the burgers and dogs @ home. Sorry

Great place.. fresh, clean dining area, good servings, yummy food that I won't feel guilty about eating or feeding my son. Service lacked personality and I felt rushed while picking my burger toppings but I'll still be back. I'm glad I found this spot.

One of my family's favorites. Their kids meals are great for little ones and I can't speak highly enough about their food. Burgers fries and chicken sandwich are great. Chicken tenders are awesome and their salads are always fresh! Wonderful place!!!

UPDATE...So I gave this place another try and now I can say officially I am done, much like this establishment very soon. I just love Char Hut but was reminded why this IS NOT a Char Hut by any means. I went during what should be the lunch rush and there were two others here. I dealt with much the same. The place was already showing signs of neglect, overpriced for the quality you receive, parking is less than conveinent due to its location. I chuckled at the sign that reads "Capacity 92", as if that will ever be an issue...off to Davie when I need my fix.

service was good, place looked clean. It does take a little while to actually get your food but I didn't see what the big deal is about the burgers, i mean yes the burgers are big, I couldn't even finish my meal but it wasn't great. I think personally burger-fi is a much better tasting and juicer burger or even shake shack.

Would have given no stars but Yelp wouldn't let me. The topping options are apparently specific to what you order despite the fact that they are there in front of you. $6.00 for a Jr. burger is ridiculous. Had to argue the staff for the fresher looking leaf lettuce in lieu of the dried up shredded lettuce. Walked out without eating and will never return.

    Pretty good burgers!

The ambiance is clean and modern. The burgers are decent. They're better and fresher than your average fast-food places. However, for some reason, the wait times to get your food are unusually long. If you've ever been to any other Char-Hut location (Davie, Tamarac, etc) you'll find yourself wondering what's taking them 20+ minutes to prep your meal at this particular location. In end, I hope they work their issues out because this place has the potential to be good but they're just not there yet.

I have been coming to Char Hut since the 1970s and was very hopeful when I saw the Coral Springs location opening. The jury is still out on my final opinion but I will say that they could be doing a better job. The food is good but the experience suffers. I am not at all impressed by the Frank Lloyd Wright decor. Part of the charm of Char Hut is the very down-to-earth, practical and real scene, the fast, confident order-taking, the very obvious and admirable systems, the busy blue-collar vibe. This Char-Hut looks like an attempt to compete with the recently ubiquitous designer burger places. No thanks. If failure comes to this whole franchise idea, it will because Char-Hut forgot it's brand and tried to become something it never was and should not have tried to be. The food: still very good. the burgers were the same albeit mine was served well done when I asked for medium. The signature hot sauce is great. The poppyseed bun was great. The hotdogs were good (though far different and nowhere as epic as the Sahlen brand hot dogs Char-Hut started with in the 70s). The truffle fries were a disappointment and more evidence of trying to be something they are not. You want good truffle fries, go to the Seafood Bar at The Breakers. Char-Huts truffle fries tasted like french fries with a closed jar of truffle oil waved over it. If going to Char-Hut for the first time, I would recommend the charburger with 2 slices of white American cheese and a double portion of hot sauce only. When at register say "Char Cheese, double cheese" and you will sound like an old Char-Hut head. You will certainly sound more enthusiastic than the bored, lackluster, lost soul taking my order today. Then at toppings station, say "hot sauce only ... lots." Try the other menu items also. The hotdogs and grilled chicken are very good. The service: just your typical fast food experience when I was there. There were a couple of manager-owner types sitting at a table and writing on file folders. Perhaps they are normally more engaged. If they are going to try and compete with the higher end burger joints, they need to completely revamp their employee training, fire everyone and start over. If they want to be "Char-Hut," keep your employees and retrain. By the way, note to franchisee, you can still charge a premium for awesome burgers without losing the down home service and feel. For those considering a visit, definitely go. Give it a try. Loyalty must still be earned. Mine will not readily transfer to this nouveau version of char hut. I will travel farther for the real thing. This doesn't feel like it but it does taste like it. It surprised me how much environment would affect my opinion. Hopefully, they get it right by cross training their employees at existing locations, remembering their roots and focusing on good food and systems. Then, as Mr. Jim (may he rest in peace with a spatula in his hand) at the Hollywood location used to say, "What'll it be son?"

This is my favorite burger restaurant. When I grew up in Hollywood in the 1970's, I would go here, as opposed to any other burger restaurant. When I moved, there was not a Char Hut close enough for me to continue my weekly vice. When I am in Tamarac or Ft. Lauderdale, I make it a point to stop by. Now that there is a Char Hut in Coral Springs, I will be able to visit a bit more often. The homemade hot sauce is great. It's not a fast food restaurant. Everything is cooked to order. Their grilled chicken and tuna are great as well. Enjoy!!

I was on my way to publix and spotted one of my most favorite places CHAR HUT!!!!!! I figured Publix could wait and checked in.I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich from shanese..she suggested the cheese fries...how could I say no!!! To drink I chose the birch beer..I opened the bottle with my Yelp bottle opener. The place is ultra clean the sandwich is delicious..the fries are OK..the portion is HUGE..I won't take a star off for asking for one leaf of lettuce but was told that was only for burgers and had to have shredded lettuce instead. The sandwich made up for the lettuce leaf thing... I have to remember to go to Publix hungry or else I will end up here way too much. I love char hut..hopefully they will allow leaf lettuce on grilled chicken sandwiches next time I eat in!!

Having grown up in south florida I always viewed char hut as an american institution. Char hut was synonymous with great food, fast service, and a value price. As far as the new branding and restaurant opened across the street from my coral springs home, this is not the case. The only thing as large as the price was the vast majority of empty tables in the dining room. The only reason for the ghost-like nature of the restaurant must be the extremely overpriced, under seasoned, and small portions served. I can't imagine why a large burger, fries/onionrings, and a beer should come out to nearly 22 dollars for one person. My final recommendation would be to steer clear of this establishment unless you tend to like spending a lot to receive very little.

My food was excellent! I needed a healthy and quick lunch ... and Char-Hut hit the spot. The restaurant was clean and looked brand-new. This is where I'll be eating when I'm in the area. Thank you Char-Hut!

CharHut in Coral Springs, it's about damn time! Growing up in Oakland Park there were your basic fast food joints like BK, Mickey Ds, and Wendy's. But we all knew if you had a little extra coin in your pocket and you wanted a solid burger you went to CharHut or Jack's Old Fashion Hamburgers. Back when I was single and successful I lived right behind the Char Hut on Commercial Blvd. It was a free standing building and I was so spoiled to have this so close to my love shack. I was horrified to learn they were closing and the whole building was being demolished. To this day I never found out what happened, but I was real sad. I'm glad to report they just opened a new CharHut in the Strip Center almost exactly where that old building was located. Hooray! When I heard that CharHut was opening in Coral Springs I was overwhelmed with joy. I posted updates on Yelp and kept driving by and driving by and freaking driving by, WTF when is this thing going to open? Finally it opened during the week of December 8th. Hallelujah! Is this CharHut? The restaurant is located in a strip center anchored by a Publix. All of the CharHuts I've eaten at have been free standing buildings. This one wasn't. I walk in and think, this don't look like CharHut. Where are the yellow painted walls and the accents of green and 1980's looking tables and booths? It looked like a walked into BurgerFi. This joint is real modern with flat screen TVs, slate walls, nice tiled floors, and craft beer on tap. As I walk up to order, the cooking line was still set up like the CharHut that I've known to love. The smell of the meat cooking on the grill in front of me calmed my nerves that I was indeed standing in a CharHut. Order Up! I get the Double Charburger with double cheese on a wheat bun, a Big Dog Hot Dog, Frings (combo of fries/onion rings), Chicken Fingers with Fries. All to go. You shuffle down the line and watch them cooked your food to order. This is the part I love, telling them what I want on my cheese burger. I'll have so e Lettuce, tomatoes, onions, ketchup, mustard, pickles, and hot relish, please. Watching them dress this thing of beauty makes my mouth water. I just wanted to reach over the glass and start eating this thing now. Keeping my emotions in check, they wrap up my food and I'm out. Taste Test I take a huge bite of my Char Cheese Burger and damn if if isn't fantastic. Nice grilled flavor and the fresh condiments makes this cheese burger taste way better than any fast food joint. The Frings were fried perfect and were not oily at all. I did notice that when I added some malt vinegar, the paper lining that the Frings rested on kinda disintegrated. I was getting pieces of that paper as I was grabbing these babies. They need to get some old school wax paper or something. Overall, everyone in my family enjoyed their food. Verdict This place should do well. You could see that the staff was still in training mode. The flow of the service line was not as smooth as it should be and that's normal. The decor is outstanding and I'm glad the owners are rebranding this franchise to where it should be. I love that they have craft beer but where is the Miller Lite or Bud Light? You need a good easy drinking Pilsner when you eat a burger or hot dog. Not a Funky Budda Floridian. Please don't put lipstick on a pig, keep it real. Also folks remember this food is not cheap. Dont think you are going to walk in and find prices like you see at BK.This joint is a several notches above in quality and quantity, thus you pay for it. I'm a big fan of this franchise and I'll be a regular customer for sure. Remember to tell them Dan sent you and Stay Hungry!

Amazing! My dad loves char hut so when they disappeared a while ago he wasn't too happy. I told him they have one in Coral Springs now so we had to go! I ordered the char burger with bacon, chili, and cheese. They have unlimited toppings! All the toppings you want and its my favorite. I love being in control of the toppings and they dont charge extra for them besides the bacon, chili, and cheese which is .80 each. I loved the burger, it was amazing and im definitely coming back. Thanks char hut for a closer location!

Pleasantly surprised.... We have lived in Broward for 15 years and have heard good things about this place but never had one convenient to our home till now. I got the chicken sandwich and my husband got the big bite. Very fresh tasting, nice selection of bread and sides. I had the sweet potato fries and my husband had onion rings... Both very good. We will definitely go back. A bit more expensive than fast food but well worth the price

A little disappointed in my two visits but two visits for a restaurant completely altering the way they did business for decades might not be a fair assessment. Charhut seems to be following a Brus room type of transformation, shutting down still successful locations in antiquated buildings and older shopping centers and building a new identity or I could be way off . Anyway my first time in was within a few days of opening it was packed, I live across the street and was simply getting a burger and fries to go. The first thing I noticed was the more modern ambience and the individual ala carte pricing for regular entrees .. In other words adult combos don't exist anymore and they don't exist in any of the newer burger concepts that likely forced this change onto Charhut. However they still do offer kids or Junior meals which will set you back roughly a dollar or two less than buying the full size adult items . They know offer many different types of fries or should I say toppings, on my first visit I order truffle fries for almost $4.00 of course truffle fries is simply truffle oil over fries and you know what they either didn't put any on or they put such a small quantity that I wouldn't notice . The burgers are still fairly the same tasting but I guess I preferred Sunrise the taste was slightly less grilled then I have been used to having frequented every Charhut location past or present at least 4-5 times and sunrise many more times than that over the years . Staff is a mix of veterans who are flawless and younger kids but these are newer staff not the old ones who were quite familiar with the process. Either way on both visits staff was quite friendly and it was clean as you would expect . (Note this wasn't proofread).

The best burgers, onion rings ever! Family friendly! Clean and courteous staff. Can't wait to go back. Kids meals are great. Big screen tv's . Very upscale design with very reasonable prices. Great hours 11am-10pm.

I've been to other Char Hut locations and been very pleased. My husband and I were super excited to see that a Char Hut was opening near us! unfortunately this one left us disappointed. My husband visited first on his own and his burger was not cooked well enough (raw inside) and yet he said it tasted old and burnt. I just finished visiting for my second time and the burger was dry, gritty and again old tasting. Maybe it's the quality of meat because obviously it's a freshly prepared burger. It's cooked right in front of you, which is another downside to this place.. They throw the burger on as soon as you order it, which isn't a bad thing I suppose but it's very awkward standing in front of the condiment server waiting for your food to cook. Everyone's just standing around uncomfortably.. I ordered a jr burger but because they throw the burgers on right away the guy must have heard the cashier ask if I wanted the char burger (which is bigger) but didn't hear me say "no" I want a jr. Since my burger was already cooking and I didn't want to wait longer I took that burger, which in fairness they didn't charge me extra for. I asked for medium rare but that is a pointless request because both times they have came out well done and dry. The employees seem to need more training and experience. My fries were undercooked which I noticed as soon as they were taken out of the fryer.. I'll check back maybe in a few months to see if things get better.. Otherwise it's not worth it. Disappointed.. :(
