I have been meaning to go to this place ever since it opened up and finally did yesterday for late lunch. The ambience is beautiful, airy and bright yet cosy. Staff were friendly and recommended dishes. We did the MIAMI spice which has a great salad for appetizer. The entree sea bass was delicious. But the dessert....! Wow!! That French bread soaked in cafe con leche served with cacao nibs... Heaven!!! So delicate and delicious and light and not at all greasy and heavy. Perfect level of sweetness ... A great meal all round. Owners were very friendly. Open plan kitchen ... Beautiful experience will definitely be back. I wish them well. Hope they keep up the level of service and quality of food.

Never, ever again. Last Friday we went back to Piripi with another couple. The future of the evening was evident within five minutes of entering the restaurant. First was the DJ playing loud, terrible music in the corner of the bar. As we waited for our friends at the bar, we were greeted by a "15-year-old" (looked 15) bartender who had no idea how to prepare one well-known drink we had requested. To boot, they did not have a common brand of bourbon. When she brought the Manhattan it was incorrectly prepared. After the aural assault we made our way to our table where we waited for 20 minutes before any of the staff approached us. When we finally got the menus we were a little suspect. The first couple of times we went to Piripi the menu was full of delicate, well-prepared and textured Spanish delights. On this occasion the dishes were named identically, but the results were disastrously different. It's almost heartbreaking to describe how terribly executed three quarters of the dishes were cooked. The setas, which featured a light foam were now buried under manchego cheese. The piquillo peppers were simply inedible. The chistorras were ok and the black rice was over-filled with tough, rubbery calamari and completely flavorless. Oh, and the bread that was once a treat, is now plain and simple. Awful. Sadly the Piripi that once was is no more. Different restaurant same name. Don't bother.

When: Saturday August 1, 2015 Time: Early Dinner A friend had been posting pictures of the food, and promoting this place using social media. My wife and I took a relative there for dinner. Food: 3.5-4 stars Reason for the 2 stars is for the Horrible service. Staff was rude, and not well trained to work at an establishment where you will spend upwards of $60-70/person (more depending on choices) Asked to speak with Ana or Teo (at the suggestion of my friend) and was told they were not there. Asked for another manager, and was simply told they weren't available. I did not insist, as it was obvious that it wasn't going to happen. I encourage the owner/manager to listen to the customer, or train the staff properly. The restaurant business is tough enough...and if Piripi ownership is not careful, it's staff/poor management will be its demise...regardless of the food quality.

3.5 With a marketing campaign all over town, I felt like I needed to support the opening of Piripi and "start living life piripi" or start living life with a slight intoxication where reality begins to seem like a dream... I visited the restaurant on a Friday night and had to wait at the bar for 20 minutes after my reservation time where the huge casa tonic and gimlet cucumber cocktail made me a bit piripi. Once at our table, the FOOD was not as creative as advertised: Bread - Complementary but tasteless. Croquetas - Alright but extremely greasy. Coca Piperrada - Bland. Chicken - Plentiful and full of flavor but tasted more Indian than Spanish. Tuna - Paired with red sauce made me taste a very unique dish. Mil Hojas - Very light with an incredibly soft catalan cream yet poorly executed -- small bites would improve the edibility of this dessert. Choco Planeta - This was the highlight of my night. I would come back just for this perfectly plated delicious combination of different chocolate forms and textures. As for the decor, an alluring piece by Dale Chihuly hangs from the ceiling in the bar area and a mesmerizing wine cellar decorates the length of Piripi. I wouldn't expect anything less from a restaurant located in the upscale Village of Merrick Park. Moreover, I liked seeing chef Najat Kaanache working in her open kitchen and the chef table visible to other patrons. I see the potential but as it stands, Piripi offers a typical restaurant experience. After they work out their kinks, I'm willing to give them another chance.

Wow! Just WOW! This is a very nice and elegant restaurant in Merrick Park. I took my husband for his birthday and we had the "todo Junto platter" as an appetizer and the tuna and the Bacalao for dinner. The food was excellent!

I went here for a perfect lunch but turns out into something bad. I ordered Setas(mushrooms)i found it a bit expensive, so I was forced to return and try another dishes before I make up my mind to a fix decision. The place was clean so inviting.

What is Piripi ? In Spain, the word 'piripi' refers to a sensation of slight intoxication where reality begins to seem like a dream. I'm not sure about all of that but I can tell you that our experience at Piripi was sensational. From the courteous maitre'd to the wonderful and professional service from our server who's been at Piripi since its inception over 4 months ago. For a young restaurant they surely do have it together. Imagine Houston's meets Spain. The atmosphere is chic and modern. With its fully loaded top-shelf bar to the patio tables, Piripi has done it right. Although me and my significant other are Pescatarians, the selection for us was perfect. Most plates are Tapas size and the food is not traditional Spaniard food by any stretch of the imagination. Instead, imagination is what they have plenty of. Imagine dishes from Spain with a touch of fusion and deconstructed. You gotta grab a bottle of wine from their well cultivated wine list and have Tapas. Although I didn't have the Paella, it is a specialty for them. I will have to do that next visit. I'm hooked. It's time Miami had an alternative and inventive restaurant. The owners made sure that they had a chance to speak to us after the meal and we told them just how much we liked Piripi and that we'd come back. I've rated and reviewed many restaurants but this one is special. Do yourself a favor and experience a great ambiance and taste some inventive food. I highly recommend this place.

4.5 Chef Najat Kaanache has arrived in South Florida. Her newest project sits pretty on the Coral Gables corner of San Lorenzo amongst the high-end shops at Merrick Park. Piripi debuts modern and whimsical Spanish cuisine. Piripi means tipsy. The playful name caught my attention almost immediately and the chef's extensive background in Michelin starred kitchens sealed the deal for me; Alinea, French Laundry, Noma, El Bulli, and Per Se (one of my personal favorites) all have Kaanache in common. I needed to try this new restaurant as soon as possible. And try I did. We found street parking directly across the restaurant: a rare feat in the area! No need to worry if you don't find a spot, the restaurant also offers valet parking. My good luck stalled for a brief second when my request for seating away from the open sliding doors (no Miami heat for me, thank you) initially confused the hostess. Alas, she pioneered through and found us a much coveted table near the wine cellar. Score! Our waiter arrived immediately and took great care of us the rest of the night. We were very specific about our wishes to have all the courses paced slowly. Our dinner ended up being nicely timed, and only the arroz (rice) took a little longer than expected. To start, I ordered a Frodo's Garden from the cocktail list. This mix of Bombay dry gin, heirloom tomatoes, broken basil, Spanish olive oil, and cracked peppercorn refreshed as the ideal companion for dinner. Later on, I also enjoyed the nicely chilled red sangria with a pleasant, sweeter than usual finish.The Seis Maneras charcuterie platter starter arrived first. Iberico ham, chorizo, and prosciutto paired with manchego slices and lightly grilled, olive oil topped bread all came beautifully displayed, so simple and enjoyable. Next, we received the Shishitos Fritos and Kaanache's grandma's Tortilla de Hadda. Prior to my dinner, I read several reviews where diners mentioned they expected a more traditional thick and solid tortilla instead of the much lighter version served. I will say this, I choose Pirirpi's tortilla over any other. One bite and I knew it would rock. The potatoes and onion notably shined through while the garlic aioli provided the close-your-eyes-and-enjoy factor. Not to be left behind, the blistered shishitos with lightly melted cheese topping also tasted great. We chose the Rodaballo Salvaje as one of our main courses. The snow-white wild Spanish turbot (rodaballo) with crispy skin, served with a colorful medley of local micro-greens and mini veggies, became the highlight of our dinner. Even nearby diners leaned over to comment on this delicate and delicious dish. Not that we had space for it, but we also ordered the Negre de Txpicón. All of the arroces are made from scratch and the menu cautions it takes 25-30 minutes before they can be served. There is a minimum of two per order and they are priced per person. After a little bit of a wait, the piping hot rice mixture of calamari with squid ink arrived. We were able to enjoy a small portion of this huge serving, but had to take the rest to go. Lastly, of course we ordered dessert. How can I say no to the Popcorn Ice Cream with salted caramel and the Mil Hojas? Don't answer that. Just go with it. I did. As it turns out, both had the right amount of sweetness and neither dessert made us feel overly full. Overall, Piripi impressed me. Kaanache's use of high quality ingredients is obvious. Dishes are not overly sauced nor salted. It's amazing what happens when you let the flavors of a dish come through without standing in its way. I can appreciate the attention to detail given to every single course we had and truly enjoyed them thoroughly. Service was attentive, on point, and without any unneeded hovering. The handmade pottery tableware used throughout the restaurant is rustic, yet exquisite. I had to practice self restraint to not take the espresso cups as a "souvenir." The restaurant's distinct interior design fits in perfectly with the nearby ritzy area. There are elevated booths near the bar area, white table clothed tables center stage, and also rustic wooden tables near the displayed wine area towards the back. Lola's Room, a separate private dining area, boasts floor to ceiling glass walls looking directly into the kitchen and perhaps the perfect room to take Piripi to a different level. I know I, for one, am eager to visit again and explore the large menu. NOTE: 07/15 Chef Najat Kaanache is no longer there.

We went for dinner last Wednesday and we were extremely disappointed. We started with a tabla de jamones y quesos, then we had the chistorras; both were good, but then again you really can't mess them up. We decided to share a chicken and pork paella. It was the worst paella we have ever had. It looked good but it lacked flavor. They forgot to add salt and saffron. We ended up asking the waiter to bring us some salt. It is sad that the restaurant did not live up to the hype. Also, the original chef from Spain is no longer with them.

A very nice and elegant place, the attention from the entrance was excellent , we started connun wine tempranillo really good start with a bruchetas of tomato puree , roasted tomatoes and dried tomatoes which were very good , we continue with a ration of a Green Chile with some shrimp with roasted tomatoes and a cetas , then we ordered a rice with lobster was the best I've eaten in my life and shut ordered in ice pop corn that left me speechless , ice cream saffron and Plato choco calling planet that has chocolate in different forms and textures. This restaurant really is one of those who want to visit and eat food from home but at a high level , coming back ...

We dined her last night and the experience was delightful. Kevin, the bartender, was prompt and apologetic about running out of their complimentary bread. I ordered from the Miami spice menu and my counterpart ordered the paella. The food was very good. The cod was a bit bland which is the reason for giving it a 4 star. The ambiance was perfect though.

What a horrible restaurant in Merrill park food selection was a joke it felt like I would've done better ordering from a food truck. We came to the restaurant on a Saturday night place was dead we were approached by a manager, didn't get his name but we couldn't understand a word that he was saying he looked Mexican or something anyways I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone horrible all around!!!!!

I went there for a Miami Spice lunch but ended up ordering two appetizers from the regular menu. I found it somewhat expensive ($8 for a smidgen of Gazpacho). I'll have to return to try some other dishes before I make my final decision. Service was good and ambiance was modern, clean and inviting.

Went to Piripi this past Sunday night for dinner. My wife and I had been one other time and had only drinks at the bar. We arrived on time and were seated immediately. NOTE: as I was walking up to Piripi I ran into some friends who were seated outside of Piripi and had advised that the service was terrible.. they had waited for approximately 30 minutes and still no wine. As we were seated my wife and I asked for water which took nearly 10 minutes to arrive. My wife ordered a glass of wine and I ordered a beer. Approximately 10 minutes later the bartender came around to our table and I asked him if he and seen our drink ticket. Bartender stated that he was unaware of our drink order and immediately went back to the bar and served our drinks. For dinner we ordered a lobster and shrimp paella. We were advised that it would take 25-30 minutes. No problem...... After 30-35 minutes my friend who was sitting outside came by and asked me how the service was. I told him that the service was absent. While he was sitting there a paella was headed toward our table. As it passed right by I laughed it off and made a comment to my friend. A minute or so later I was rudely interrupted by a manager who stated he had over heard my comment to my friend. NOTE I had not requested to speak to anyone nor had I complained to anyone regarding the wait. the manager stated that paellas take 25-30 minutes to prepare and that there was no paella preference at Piripi. The manager stated that he had checked the ticket and it was put in at 8:12PM and it was currently 8:35PM. At this point I have to say my blood was boiling. I had just been called out by a complete stranger. Unbeknownst to him I had made a mental note of when I placed my paella order. I informed him that at 7:50PM I had placed my order with the server and that it was unacceptable for it to take 22 minutes to put a ticket in. I also told him that I didn't appreciate him interfering in my conversation let alone calling me out when he had no idea what had taken place. As he walked away I have to say that if it weren't for mothers day I would have walked right out of there. This place is dead to me. Paella was very tasty. Will not be back.

My husband and I had a late dinner here last night and I have to say the food was outstanding! We ordered the croquettes which were crispy on the outside and most and taste in the inside:) the croquette of the day was ham and cheese:) we also order the sautéed mushrooms which were tasty and moist :) we also had the grilled gambas they were light and full of flavor!! Our waiter was Andres he was knowledgable and very attentive!! Just to say my husband and I had a wonderful time at this restaurant:)) we will be back soon with friends:)

Service was awesome! The bottomless mimosas for $15 quite a bargain. The tapas were ok...not as good as expected...best was Serrano ham with melon balls, but how can anyone go wrong with that. The croquettes were also good. For a Spanish restaurant serving jalapeño peppers was a bit odd! The actual restaurant is interesting, beautiful lighting above the bar resembling Chihuly, if not his work. Open kitchen concept. Once is good enough.

They really seem to be trying but not hard enough. Okay. They spent some serious jack. The staff is eager but doesn't know the basics. How about some basic training? What dishes consist of. How to pronounce them. Stuff like that. Some of the food very good --simple rustic dishes the best. Paella shockingly flavorless. Looked impressive but had no taste. Really. Like it was cooked in milk. Not even a hint of salt or pepper let alone some herbs. Cocktails were the best things we sampled. Waiters disappear and don't come back. Ours forgot one of our appetizers. Chef also seems absent minded. She forgot to season half the food. The place is pretty but also kind of bland. No real spark or life to it. Very generic and kind of boring. Maybe an example of too many cooks.....?

Piripi is a modern Spanish cuisine restaurant , wide space , decorated with really good taste, specially the roof at the bar. Really good wine selection ! Food menu is really good with classic Spanish dishes: appetizers recommended : patatas bravas and pulpo a la gallega. Paella it's a must! Brunch menu worthy to try!

Came to Piripi with a group for a corporate event. The staff immediately greeted us and showed us to our table. The staff was knowledgeable and attentive and helped us with the sections for our group. We started off with a tabla of cured meats and cheeses...a perfect start to a Spanish meal. Our main course consisted of a seafood paella as well as a chicken / lamb paella...delicious! We so had the seared tuna and turbot. Everything was perfectly prepared and the presentation was great. The desserts were delicious as well. Everyone had a great time the staff was great and the food was spectacular! Great restaurant!

If you are looking for a traditional Spanish style restaurant and have a hard time being open minded and afraid to deviate from the norm this is not the Spanish restaurant for you. This was so apparent when I finished my meal and couldn't stop talking about it and shortly after found two reviews posted with one and another with two stars. I can understand others disappointment when you order a Spanish Tortilla and get a very thin layer of Tortilla which is not the typical style of a Spanish Tortilla which is usually very thick, but this should not deter you from trying this dish. The unique flavors and hint of the sauce served along side of the Tortilla was amazing. The other dish we had was the bocaditos de bonito. Slices of bread topped with fresh tomato garlic spread and bonito (tuna). So simple and yet bursting with flavor. For the entrée we opted for the lobster paella. This is also not your typical style paella, but I can say this was the most flavorful paella I have ever tasted. The lobster used was Maine lobster which is not the norm used in a paella dish. The dish had a whole lobster was sweet which complimented the flavorful rice. The lobster is not de shelled so beware if you are on your first date. The dessert was also a unique dish, but not a typical Spanish dish, nevertheless it was amazing. Different elements of chocolate was used throughout the dish. Please do not come to Piripi with the expectation of having all of your traditional tapas found in a Spanish restaurant and do not expect for the preparation to be what is typically found , but if you want a different take on Spanish food this is the restaurant for you.

I checked it out with a friend, we sat at the bar for drinks and tapas. The bar tender was great, Geraldo- he makes amaze cocktails! He made me one of the best extra dirty martini i've had, loved it. My friend had a cucumber gin drink that was pretty good too. I was not impressed with the food, tortilla was awful, didnt like the consistency, tasted too eggy, didn't have any flavor and the description had aioli and it barely had any.. I love zetas, they were ok, nothing to brag... I would give it another chance because of the cocktails, they did have good service and the place is really nice! Remember- Geraldo makes great cocktails!

Ok... So those who know me understand I "demand" high quality and excellent service. Piripi delivers on both fronts (5 stars). Beautiful setting, some of the best cocktails I've had in Miami (try the lavender vodka), and the attention to detail places this in top ten Miami restaurants to frequent. If I have one suggestion of room for improvement, because I don't speak Spanish, I didn't understand menu items. However, each of out servers was generous and patient, and I had superb choices! Delicious and far better than pairings I would have made on my own. If I have one thing to report (other than the excellent service) its that the Executive Chef is a special, magical person. She is born in Morocco, grew up in San Sebastián Spain, and has been a chef at the best restaurants, including French Laundry in San Fran. The quality of food is unparalleled but she was kind, sweet and generous, making her way to each table to include her guests and help understand the menu. This has quickly become a "must do" for Miami foodies.

One word... Natasha! We decided to try this place for my parents 34 year wedding anniversary and it did not disappoint! Staring with the service! Our waitress Natasha was just amazing! One of the best service I've experienced! She was on Point the whole night! We started with the Tortilla de Hadda, Serrano con Melon and the Granchego... Delicious! Although some in our group said the tortilla was a bit salty. For our entrees our group ordered: two types of paella ( lamb/ chicken and lobster, shrimp , crawfish) I couldn't decided which one was better! Great taste for both! My boyfriend ordered the yellow fin tuna and to be honest for $34 a plate the portions Were kinda slim, flavor wise delicious! My dad ordered the lamb and let me tell ya folks the meat just melt in your mouth. We love lamb and eat it quite often but this lamb was cooked to perfection and seasoned amazingly! For drinks we had the sangria and gin & fizz which were both great! I highly recommend this place! Ask for Natasha, she won't disappoint.

Piripi is absolutely great. I went for the Miami Spice lunch and felt that all 3 offerings were splendid. The gazpacho was smooth, not acidic and authentic. The cobb salad was fresh and the goat cheese was creamy. The crema Catalana was a nice variation of creme brulee. Loved the openness of the restaurant and the server was great. There were a few minor errors in serving but easily corrected. You shouldn't leave here unhappy.

Close but no cigar. Very disappointed by our first, and last visit. The fact that their opening was a few months behind schedule was a sign of things to come. We've been trying to eat here for the past three weeks. First we'll be open next week, next it was a soft opening and unavailable for "non-industry" guests, then no lunch on Saturdays (Wait, what? This restaurant is in a mall). So fourth attempt and here we are. Three out of five main entree orders were sold out and our order of boquerones had a whopping 5 pieces for $10 (?!). We finally went with the "28" ounce chuleton de buey which shrinks to 14 ounces when cooked and comes room temperature. We'll be sticking to Xixon and Bulla who have much more extensive menus, are always on point, open 11-11 daily and welcome you with a smile. Both provide a bigger bang for your buck - and taste buds. Case and point: any restaurant with an average wine list price of $65 and a staff sommelier to help you chose wine doesn't know how to staff their restaurant, much less their menu. Save your money and hit up the shops in Merrick instead.

I have been anticipating this restaurant for a long while now and decided to have dinner with a friend. My rating is on my overall experience but I believe this place will get better over time. Here are my thoughts. Service: 4/10 Tonight was the official opening for the restaurant so I was a little lenient on the service but it was still pretty bad. Carolina, our server, was not helpful at all. We started by asking if the chef could pick her favorite dishes and serve it as a tasting for us and immediately our server told us that was not possible without even speaking with the chef. So then we asked her what she would recommend from the menu and the three items she recommended happened to be the three most expensive. Now, as a member of the hospitality industry I've come to learn that there are servers who actually care about the restaurant and guest, and servers only there to make money. She was all about upselling and making money. Needless to say we did not go with ANY of her recommendations. Instead we just decided to wing it for ourselves and pick the dishes we though sounded the most creative. Our server also failed to provide us with clean plates/utensils before certain courses and at one point we found ourselves with no share plates at all. The sommelier was nice but after the first pour of delicious red wine she ended up spilling some on the white linen which was noticeable throughout the remainder of the meal. The one person who actually did his job was the manager (I believe). He came by and talked to us about the wine, the food, and told us a story about the chef and how she chooses her ingredients. He was very informative and attentive. Food and Drink: 7/10 This might seem like a low score but I believe this restaurant will get better and better. As someone who has been through restaurant openings I know all about the kinks and working out the menu. Most of the dishes were excellent but some needed a few tweaks in my opinion. Wine: Plic plic plic- very delicious and inexpensive bottle of red wine ($39) Food: Salchichon de Vic- Cured belly sausage with peppercorns. If you like charcuterie this is a great one. Its simply sliced sausage with peppercorns, a great way to start. ($12) Air Foccacia: The best tasting and looking dish of the night. Little pillows of air bread, cheese, veggies, herbs...it had a wide range of flavors. I recommend getting this! ($11) Navajas: Razor clams...these were alright. The sauce was amazing but the clams seemed extra chewy and felt as if they still had sand in them. ($16) Setas Salteados: Mushrooms. I love mushrooms. The seasoning was a little off, some bites salty and some not at all, but we mixed it all around and they tasted perfect after. ($14) Raps Magic: Monkfish. This was another great dish. I was between this dish and the cod but decided to go with Monkfish because I think it is a better fish texture and taste wise. The "happy"vegetables were delicious and the sauce was great with the fish. Loved it. ($27) Tortilla: Eh, I've had much better tortilla. The garlic aioli was lacking in garlic flavor and the only other strong flavor came from the few scattered tomatoes. Other than that there wasn't salt and the tortilla was pretty flat. ($8) Negra paella: I'm a fan of Calamari and squid ink and while this one wasn't bad it was very one-note in flavor. I didn't dislike it but it also wasn't a favorite. Also just FYI the price on the menu is per person. Makes more sense to just double it and cut the confusion. ($27 per person or $54) Dessert: Goxua- Beautiful presentation, very light way to end the meal. It was delicious. ($10) Flor de Sauco: Described to us by our server as gummy candy type thing. As a pastry chef i'll call it Pate de Fruit. The flavor was Elderflower. I though it was creative and tasty. ($7) Saffron Ice cream/Granita: This was described to us as a snowball...oh geez. On the menu it said granita so it should be described as a granita. In actuality, it was a mix between Ice cream and a granita. The flavor is very unique. I enjoyed it but it is definitely not something for everyone. If you like weird desserts then you have to get it. ($9) Overall, this place was not too bad. The service needs improvement, the bulk of the food was delicious and I'm sure once the entire menu is complete it will be even better. Chef Najat came to our table which was a nice ending to the meal. I'd give this place a month or so to work out the kinks and come back to try more dishes.

Since we eat often at Merrick Park and was excited to have another option, I'd been anxiously waiting for Piripi to open for months and it was SO worth the wait! I'm not big on Spanish food as it tends to be too heavy for my taste, but I was told their food would be different and it certainly was. The food is AMAZING!!! The turbot was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The potato omelet was the best I've ever had and the razor clams were out of this world. Even my 9 year old finicky eater asked to go back. Oliver our waiter was always attentive and very helpful in explaining certain dishes that we weren't familiar with. Even though the place was packed, we didn't have to wait long for our food. The ambiance is modern but classic at the same time. From the amazing chandelier over the bar to the outdoor tables to the cutlery, everything was chosen with care and excellent taste. As for the prices, I believe they are fair for the quality of food and service you are getting. Even after 2 bottles of wine, we were pleasantly surprised by our tab. So all in all, we recommend it HIGHLY will DEFINITELY be going back!

Extremely disappointed with the overall dining experience, but to be fair there were some highlights. Our server, Julio, was attentive to our needs and very helpful, although not too familiar with the menu or the dishes. Given that the restaurant has only been open for a couple of weeks totally understandable. Chic contemporary design with open kitchen and a layout that did not feel crowded. Well lit and overall comfortable ambiance. I expected more creativity from the tapas menu with the typical "tabla" fair of lomo, chorizo and cheese. We did enjoy a dish with Galician green fried peppers that was excellent and out of the ordinary. Also, menu had a section titled Pure Blood, but interestingly no morzilla. Although we all know that tapas are generally light, the combination of creativity and quantity did not meet our expectation for the value. The paella Meloso con Bogavante was good, but not spectacular. The Cordero Paciente was an expected small cut, but it was pure fat. Would not recommend anyone to order this dish. For dessert we ordered arroz con leche. Kudos to the chef for coming up with a deconstructed exceptional dish, but to anyone who was anticipating the typical dish, beware this is not your grandmother's arroz con leche. My recommendation is to keep the dish, but name it something else. I am sure that they will improve and most likely we will give it another try.

Excellent Spanish experience. The restaurant ambiance is modern with spectacular detail and good taste. The restaurant open recently, but you can tell that the staff is professionally trained, and that they are willing to go out of their way to please the customers. I tried the paella and it was outstanding. The navajas were also very good. It has a full bar and an extensive selection of wines. Clara, our waiter, was particularly nice and helpful.

Despite the fact of reading bad reviews about the place, I find their menu to be perfect, the place is decorated the way an upscale Spanish restaurant should. I would only change the hostess, they seem to be working in the wrong place. Piripi presents itself in a modern space with booths, bar-height tables for 2, and regular tables for 4, with a large bar in the front and a large wine wall in the rear. This is a pretty simplistic and minimalistic space... and it works. The first thing I noticed upon arrival is that the sliders (doors) by the bar that sits by the entrance of the restaurant were all wide open... in Florida... in May... I realize that this may be the "hip" thing to do but, honestly, how many people want to have dinner in the Florida humidity? Upon check in I asked for a table all the way in the back as I figured that would be the coolest (as in temperature) area of the restaurant. I was told that the restaurant was fully committed and, thus, the only table available was either one up front next to the bar (and kitchen) or one of the bar-height tables. I honestly don't like sitting for dinner with my feet dangling in the air and, at least at the time, the restaurant was pretty much empty so, I politely asked again for a table in the back. After some back and forward, we eventually got a table in the back. (NOTE: The restaurant was at full capacity 30 minutes after that!) Check-in ordeal aside, service was solid throughout the night. As for the food, I will forever compare all of my Spanish dining experiences to Bon Picat in Doral. Spanish food wise, to me, Bon Picat sets the bar. Piripi delivered in the food department as well. Note to readers: This is a fine dining Spanish experience in my mind. Don't expect huge portions although by no means did I think any of the portions were 'small'. It's just that, at least in my mind, this place is more concerned about delivering you great flavors and less concerned about making sure you have a doggy bag at the end of the night like a Cheesecake Factory. We began with the charcuterie platter. The platter was a solid start! Iberico ham, chorizo, prosciutto, Manchego cheese slices, and olive oil bread. Great plating... great presentation... great flavors. Next we got the Tortilla de Hadda. The Spanish Tortilla was outstanding! Better than Bon Picat in fact. Shhh, please don't tell Juan! As our main course we had the Rodaballo Salvaje and the Negre de Txpicon. The Rodaballo was basically a Spanish turbot (fish) cooked and presented with skin, and accompanied by greens and mini vegetables. Once again, great plating... great presentation... great flavors! I really liked the greens and mini vegetables. For our second entrée we ordered the Negre de Txpicón, which was one of several paella style rice selections to choose from. Be prepared to pay some $25pp for these and they do take some time as they are made fresh upon ordering. I did not enjoy this one as much as the wife did. It was black ink rice with calamari. I felt it needed to settle for some time prior to serving but, because it's cooked fresh to order, I guess they can't let it settle or you'll be waiting an hour for it. We took most of it home (big serving) and I thought it was better the next day after, it, indeed, settled. My favorite dessert of the night was the popcorn ice cream with salted caramel. It was pretty good. Overall it was a solid dining experience. The flavors were on point throughout the night! As a side note, I typically take my own wine to restaurants. Piripi allows you to do just that for a $25 corkage fee, but not on Fridays or Saturdays. Since we went on a Friday, we arrived wine-less... and in the end, given their heavy Spanish wine selection, we remained that way and opted for Sangria instead which was actually good. An hour before our dinner I called the restaurant to find out about the wine list which is not represented online at piripimiami.com . I asked if it could be emailed to me as I wanted to research it to see what I could order. (I am very serious about my wine!) Very often restaurants have emailed me their wine list but I was told it could not. Thus, I was really unprepared to make a wine selection amongst all of those Spanish wines and given they only had 3-4 Cabernets. Next time, I will do a bit more homework on Spanish wines or, I will ask for the help of the Sommelier. But, in all likelihood, 'next time' won't be on a Friday or Saturday night.

This great new restaurant has an awesome vibe from the minute you walk in! The drinks are amazing, we tried several of their specialty drinks and all of them were equally as good, and the presentation was amazing! The décor is just beautiful! We decided to try several different plates and share so that we could get a good idea of what the food was all about. The seafood paella was DELICIOUS and I am not a paella fan. The Bocenores (anchovies) were also so incredibly good and I also tend to shy away from them. The tortilla...out of this world. The steak was so tender and tasty. The desserts were interesting, different and so good! The staff is very professional, friendly and helpful and willing to make every effort to make your dining experience excellent! It's a new restaurant that has been open less than a week. Every new restaurant has glitches to iron out but I can guarantee it is definitely worth a try!

We visited PirÃpi tonight to celebrate two special beings in our lives that have passed away: my husband's father, Bill, who passed away in August 2014 (would have been his birthday today) and our Yorkie, Jasper, who died today. We did not mention this to anyone there but Nicole, our waitress, was, by far, one of the best servers we have ever met at any restaurant. She was very welcoming and attentive. She made it a point to tell her manager that our entree was taking a bit longer than expected (no complaint on our part) and JC was generous enough to comp us two drinks. Thank you Nicole and JC! Your customer service skills are to be commended and we are sure to return! The he food is excellent BTW!

Great place to have a drink, try some tapas, very chic ambience , the food was just ok, Our group ordered several tapas and entrees. The Setas (mushrooms),croquetas de jamon, sautéed peppers, manchego cheese, jamon iberico all very typical Spanish cuisine nothing really spectacular. The very expensive seafood lobster paella was disappointing one small Maine overdone lobster and no other seafood lots of rice , was tasty but unimpressive. Would return for wine and some tapas but that's it. Valet parking convenient for $8.00

Happily Miami seems to be enjoying not only cutting edge star architects coming to town, but also some cutting edge star chefs. Najat Kaanache is one of those bright stars! Unlike other star chefs who come to Miami to open a restaurant and then leave it in the hands of another...Najat is actually standing there making sure every dish comes out to perfection. Joyously, each dish did come out to our table with a perfect blend of simplicity and knowledge that pushed simple ingredients to their flavor potential max. The quality of ingredients were also apparent. The restaurant space itself is gorgeous. We arrived on a Friday night around 7:30p. The place was hopping, but not too packed. By the time we left, it was packed. My only negative comment would be service seems disorganized. This is the curse of Miami. Great restaurants, great food, star chef...and lousy home grown service staff. Our waiter would disappear for long stretches. We would resort to flagging whomever we could get our hands on to fill our water glasses...or take an order for more wine...or another order of croquettes. After a while we just gave up, enjoyed what we had, and left. Better to hire competent people who will push each ticket to it's maximum dollar amount because there was someone actually there to take our order. Piripi lost out on, at least, 50 dollars of orders because of poor attendance to the table. Having said all that, I will definitely be back to enjoy this dynamite new chef in town. 6 stars for food...2 stars for service.

I happened to stumble into this restaurant, and i absolutely loved it! I was intrigued to check out the restaurant after I walked past the window and saw an amazing cheese platter being created. As soon as we walked in and ordered a table, we were greeted by a very kind hostess and were accommodated accordingly. Our server, Oliver, was wonderful! Answered all our questions without fault and with a huge smile. Oliver also offered delicious suggestions. Overall, all the servers were very attentive and professional in offering anything we needed with a genuine smile. Luckily we didn't go very hungry, because the portions were very small, but definitely full of taste! I would love to go again sometime, keep it up Piripi!

My husband and I really enjoyed our dinner at Piripi. The food was delicious and all of our dishes were really high quality. Service was good and the space itself is really nice. Loved the Chiluly over the bar! The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is that I didn't think it was any more special than the other Spanish restaurants in Miami.

So we came here for some drinks and we were pleasantly surprised. Our bartender Linette has poured us a spiced melonada and a sunset cruize. The flavors were amazing. The spiced melonada is garnished with a jalapeño salt that keeps the spicy flavors alive in your throat while the sunset cruize has cognac but tastes like a sweet pisco sour. We also ordered some patatas bravas to keep us going for round two and they were perfectly seasoned. I'm writing this review as Linette pours us a frodo's garden that has so many flavors we can only identify the gin and basil. A definite must for happy hour, please check this place out. Also keep an eye out for the Kryogenifex chillers that chill the glasses with CO2!

absolutely loved it, I do feel that it is a bit pricy but then again it is in Merrick park but needless to say the food is phenomenal. the one thing I ate that I didn't absolutely love was the patatas bravas as I felt that the chorizo was too pungent. the majority of my table ordered the fish and everyone had nothing but great things to say about their meal. since I don't eat fish, I had the chicken that came with this sauce that was just wow, it was delicious. our waiter really made the meal memorable as it was my grandfathers birthday and he loved it! overall the food was great, highly recommended restaurant!

This is such a nice spot to go to for any occasion. The food is flavorful and presented very nicely. I had the jamon iberico and cheese plates, which were the perfect bite. The drinks are mouthwatering. I especially like their cucumber cocktail. I went here with some friends and we sat at the bar for hours and lost track of time. The ambiance is welcoming and relaxed. The chandelier above the bar is stunning, it changes colors throughout the night. This is a must visit restaurant.

Service was pretty bad have to be honest. The food was not great. The menu selection nothing out of this world there is nothing on the menu that would make me want to come back or let's put it this way it was really hard to pick something to eat because there was nothing that sounded great. Ordered the lamb and did not eat it. They said it was cooked for 36 hours but it was really tough and under seasoned, returned it. The owners seemed to be really involved attending people that they knew instead of the overall service. I was waving my hand to try and get someone's attention most of the time.

We decided to visit the restaurant since my wife is from Spain. We arrived on a Sunday at 12:45 PM , they were still serving the brunch menu but they had the Miami Spice menu outside at the hostess stand. When asked ablut the miami spice menu, she did not know if they had it for sundays and have to ask.Finally they told her that they will serve it. Menu Items: when the tortilla arived one of the servers holds the handle of the cast iron pan with a towel and places it infornt of the 4 yr old kids (2 of them).We noticed this immediatelyand told him not to place it infront of the children because they would get burn if they touch it. He replied that it was not hot. Then why does he grabs it with a towel. It was not hot after all but an unfortunate server behavior. The Tortilla española they serve was bland of taste and costs $27.00, quite expensive for not a memorable tortilla. I can cook it better. Then when the sliders arrived they were burned. But the flavor was good so they were not returned. As I waited I was watching the pastry chef using a pastry cream bag to decorate. My eyes couldnt believe what i was seeing. He lick his fingers twice as he got cream on the hand that was at the end of the pipe bag. He went back twice but i couldnt see if he wash his hands. Well, it doesnt matter, noone in the kitchen area should be licking his fingers when handeling food, at least in my book. Server Daniel G had no clue on the menuor service protocols; and after overcharging in my bill, i had to wait 15 minutes for him to try to get any managers to fix the mistake.One after another was turning him down until finally he found one that would assist him.

We have been anxiously awaiting the opening of Piripi for months and it certainly did not disappoint!! As a result, we have dined there several times since the "soft" opening. What makes Piripi an incredible culinary experience is multi-faceted. The crowd and ambience at the bar is remarkable. The drinks are tasty and unique. The transition from the bar area to the dining area is seamless and flawless because of the staff and attention to service detail. You will have multiple staff members visit your table over the course of your meal, including multiple servers, the General Manager, as well as the owners! The food...the food! Incredibly authentic, delicious and made with deep, deep passion. Ironically, the menu is still purposely limited, as the venue continues to offer more options. I can't wait to dine off of the full menu and very much look forward to our next visit!

Although the restaurant has only been open for a few weeks, I expected way more from the food, service and overall experience. The staff was disorganized (they looked like chickens with heads cut off) and had very little knowledge about the menu. The restaurant set up is a little cramped. i actually had to take a picture of my husband during dinner because the table next to us was so close that it looked like he was on a date with them... Now to our actually experience...our entree arrived prior to our appetizers. My cocktail took 45 mins to arrive and the overall service took over 2.5 hrs. Luckily, we weren't in a hurry. We found the cost of items extremely overpriced, but flavorful. The portions weren't generous and deciphering the menu was quite the task. The decor and atmosphere in general, has a great vibe, but they need better training, more experienced staff and a little more variety on the menu. I was really hoping this would be a hit and I still believe with some tweaking, they can overcome some glitches, but it's got a long way to go.

Piripi has spared no expense nor cut any corners. In the kitchen is a chef who worked at the world famous El Bulli (now closed) in Spain. The chef also worked in two of Thomas Keller's restaurants (French Laundry and Per Se). You cannot get better than that! The space is sleek and modern. The sculpture above the bar, was designed by an artist who worked many years in Chihuly's studio. I really like that they have a sommelier (Matt). These days it is not easy to find in a restaurant here in Miami. Matt was on point and enthusiastic in his wine selections. We didn't have a lot of food as we dined late. We sampled the squid ink paella which was quite tasty. The grilled sardines were nicely cooked. They didn't have the octopus Thursday night. I really want to return to sample it. The charcuterie plate had quality cheeses and meats. Staff and the owners were gracious and attentive. I would definitely check it out if you are in the Merrick Park area. Enjoy!

Piripi is original with its identity. It's modern with an excellent, optimistic, forward thinking futuristic ambience ready for joyful crowds. The place is so comfortable and spacious for clients, which helps everybody feel like they're been taken care of with great respect. The staff has a lot of class, and is professionally trained to create an awesome flow in this environment. The menu is equipped with the best dishes from Spain combined with delicious wine. You'll love how there's a bar that is perfect for happy hour, and for having your lunch and dinner. The dining room and private room are designed perfectly where the people can enjoy their experience like being treated like royalty. If you want to get out of your comfort zone in Spanish food, and try something new in Spanish cuisine that will expand your horizons, then having your lunch and dinner at this restaurant will do that for you.

If there were half stars, I would give this place 3.5 - so I am going to round it to 3 stars because that means "A-ok" and that's really how I feel. I am not a 4 stars "Yeah I'm a fan!" Piripi has not been opened long and my friend and I wanted to try it out so to Piripi we went! The restaurant itself is beautiful. The bar has colorful glass sculptures hanging from the ceiling and towards the back; you can't help but be impressed by the gorgeous wall to wall wine cellar. Encased in glass, it is eye-catching! I immediately (ehem - {cough, cough}) ordered a glass of wine - the Tempranillo to be exact. It was reasonably priced and delicious! My friend had the Gin & Tonic with a twist and she loved it! It comes in a very large glass (with very large ice cubes) and a very large price tag - $16. Oh, and on a side note - they do not have a Happy Hour. Our server (Linda, very good server!) recommended the wild mushroom appetizer and it was very good. We then proceeded to order the "special" (beware of that word!) which consisted of a sample of their meats and 2 slices of cheese. What was not so special was the price tag - $38 for what I consider to be a small sampling and I am pretty sure the 2 slices of cheese were the same cheese. They were supposed to be different but our server wasn't sure. We then had the steamed mussels in wine sauce. It also had clams, shrimp, fish, and chorizo. It was very good - reasonably priced. It was a nice meal in a beautiful setting. Plenty of street parking and garages in the area (Merrick Park) and it is located next to Yardhouse towards the back. I would go back to sample some more of their dishes.

We went to Piripi on a Saturday night. It had a lot of hype so we had very high expectations. We loved the glass sculpture hanging above the bar. This is currently a place to be, so we ran into quite a few other people we knew who were eating there while we were there. All of the food was good too. I went back for a birthday lunch on a weekday and they had changed the menu. We ordered the strawberry fig margarita again, although they said it no longer is on the menu, and it was just as good as last time. The peppers filled with cod were very flavorful. The bread with tomatoes and sundried tomatoes was great. The octopus was a bit too slimy for my taste and I had just had a great one at Uvaggio the night before and didn't think the one at Piripi was as good, so I was a bit disappointed with that. At the end of the lunch, we told the waiter we were there for a birthday lunch and he brought us a crema Catalana that was very good. The rest of the service for the meal similarly was excellent. That said, I think that Piripi still has a ways to go on figuring out a menu that fits everyone and that is five stars. I think the food is good but not everything is great and they need to have more variety, especially with the salads which are very limited in selection.

Tried the lunch, ordered tapas and wine. Gazpacho was fine. Surtido platter $25 was on the small side, didn't really like the fried potatoes nor the gambas (why, the sauces! May I suggest you put these on the side). If fusion cuisine is your thing, you may actually enjoy the diff flavors and red cherry/ white sauces, I prefer traditional cuisine. Service was very good, decor and ambiance modern /elegant. Lots of potential .. May give it another try. Thanks for the peanut/ shellfish allergy warning.
