Overall, a slightly average meal. Bland steaks and average service. This is a Coral Gables landmark and I remember first eating here as a kid in the 80s. I think the same customers are still eating here, as the average age skews fairly high. The place was fairly busy, so maybe I ordered the wrong meal, but they were out of stock of the prime rib at 8pm on a Saturday night.

We had an excellent meal at this restaurant in Coral Gables. The atmosphere was nice and the food was super awesome. I would definitely recommend this for family and friends. We had the Miso maple salmon with ginger scented jasmine rice, sautéed green beans, mango coulis, topped with sweet soy reduction. It was incredibly fresh and tasty. We also had the pesto grilled mahi with roasted red pepper risotto, accompanied with heirloom tomato relish, and chive oil. Everything was fresh and cooked to perfection. The service was awesome as well, very informative and friendly.

This is a Miami Spice Review: What I ordered: -Lobster Bisque -Filet Mignon (rare) -Brownie Food Review: The UHMAZING steak: Normally when you ask for a rare steak in Miami, you get like a medium rare, if your lucky. I am so happy to report, that steak was rare!! So juicy, red, melts in your mouth, rare. OMG so good. And the portion was very big, an big fat 8 oz cut of nothing but lean and juicy filet mignon. The sauce to the steak complimented the steak so well! Little bit of spinach and some potatoes medallions joined which sucked up all that sauce, tasted fantastic! Needless to say, I was very pleased with the steak! lol But def keep in mind there is plenty of sauce on the plate, and I know some steak lovers that hate sauces with the steak (they want just the meat to enjoy), so keep in mind to ask for the sauce on the side if that is you. Lobster Bisque: I mean, honestly how can you screw up lobster bisque? I do have to say though, this one was very tasty. My only complaint is there were not pieces of lobster in my soup. I kinda like to see my lobster in my lobster bisque. But the flavor of the lobster was there. Also, a bit salty, so I def had to break up my sips with some water. The Brownie: In the restaurants defense, I am not a fan of nuts in my brownie, so wasn't like crazy about it, but I still finished the whole thing. lol It was the perfect sweet ending to this Miami spice. Miami Spice Bang for your buck? Yess The 8oz steak alone is $42, so you've already broken even there. Soup isn't on the menu, but assume comparable soup would run about $9, and dessert about $9 as well. That puts you at $60 vs $39.

The Miami spot for the Power Lunch crowd. World class Ceasar Salads and steaks. It has been a fixture on Ponce de Leon longer than my law firm across the street. For decades this was place in Coral Gables for special celebrations or just having a special meal with someone you care about. A classic. Just not the greatest anymore.

Went here for Coral Gables Restaurant Week. We both ordered lobster bisque, then the full rack of lamb and the 8 oz filet mignon for entrees, and finished it with the mixed nut brownie a la mode. Lobster bisque: had good flavor but a little too salty for my personal taste. This dish lacked in presentation. A little bit of chopped parsley or any green would've made the dish look nicer. An upscale restaurant like this should try to make their dishes look worth the price. Full rack of lamb: if you're going for restaurant week/Miami spice, choose this!! Meat was cooked to perfection, seasoning was great, portion was huge! Couldn't even finish it. Best deal for a FULL rack of lamb. Filet mignon: again, cooked to a perfection. Good flavor but the asparagus with the "mustard vinaigrette" was horrible....it was just asparagus with mayo! So disappointed in that. There was a very tiny hint of mustard but more mayo-y or "aioli" if you want to make it fancy. Brownie a la mode: HUGE! Did not expect it to be that big. Brownie had lots of nuts and big scoop of ice cream on top. I recommend this place for restaurant week or Miami spice but would not go back for regular dining. Food was "okay" but would not pay original price. Service was decent though and atmosphere was nice and fancy. Small little cute restaurant.

Christy's is one of my wife's family's favorite, and with a reason! First, it is a very elegant restaurant, and you will notice this from the moment you walk in. The service, is fantastic and to the point; it is definitely on the "expensive " side, but definitely worth dinning in. Now the food is spectacular! I ordered the shrimp cocktail as an appetizer, and the shrimp was ginormous and exquisite! Worth every penny. As a main course, I opted for the lamb and it was probably the best lamb I have ever had in the US; filled with flavor and it would almost melt in my mouth... I was really impressed by it. Our server recommended the brownie with a scoop of ice-cream, and it was ok. Im not a dessert lover, but it was not bad. Overall, this restaurant is a great place to bring family, a date or simply enjoy a very well made meal. A must visit!

With reservations we waited 30 min. To be seated, and the service was ok not great, maybe because the place was packed. We did the Miami spice menu and I was surprised at the portion size. They did not hold back, our meal was splendid from beginning to end. I defiantly recommend Christy!

5 stars all around! Great attentive not overbearing service. The menu is exquisite. A friend brought me here to celebrate both of our birthdays and I was so delighted to have been there. We both had their amazing Caesar salad with anchovies and it was delicious! Probably one of the best Caesar salads if not the best I've had! He ordered the Prime rib which was big enough to feed a small village! I did have a try of it and it was cooked to perfection! Very succulent flavor and tender! I went for the filet mignon and it was amazing too! As a side I tried the Crimini mushrooms which were very tasty and complimented the steaks perfectly! The piece of resistance, after all that delicious grub though, was the Baked Alaska which I have never had and was very excited to try after a description of it from my friend Lee. You must see the picture I took of it to really understand what I cannot describe precisely with words. It was a mountain (glacier) of cream torched table side and filled with Neapolitan Ice cream!!! OMG!! It was heavenly and the presentation...amazing!! I would without a doubt recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants great service, exquisite food and classy ambiance!

I hate writing bad and mediocre reviews. The food was mediocre, the serviced sucked, the parking was worse. For dinner reservations for 8:30pm, and leaving at 11:15pm... kinda sucked and just made me even more exhausted and cranky. We had potato skins that only come with sour cream chives and caviar. Nothing else lol My 6oz medium filet was brought to me RAW. Then the mash potatoes tasted funny, kinda tastes of what of a barn smells like. Desert was ok. Prob the only good thing here hahaha. Starting to think the more south I go, the lower the class of restaurants are becoming. Sigh. Another disappointment.

They have a very good deal for Miami Spice. The food was delicious. I would have liked less sauce on my meat but it was still good. Next time I will order the sauce on the side. They have the best key lime pie that I have ever had.

I went to Christy's to try their Miami Spice menu. I made a reservation in the morning for 8:00pm. I called later on in the day to move up the reservation to 8:15 or 8:30 and they said they were booked for the night. When I arrived at 7:55, I had to wait till 8:35 to be seated; there were plenty of tables available which I found to be odd.... I loved the romantic ambiance of this place and the red walls. The chairs are unbelievably comfortable which I enjoyed very much. We both got the lobster bisque and it was fantastic! For my entree, I ordered the seabass and the other person ordered the filet mignon. The seabass was okay, it needs a little more flavor. The filet was absolutely amazing so if you are going there for Miami Spice go for the filet! We ordered both desserts, the brownie with icecream which was delicious and the key lime pie was also good, just a bit too sour for my taste. All in all it was a good experience!

Service was really good. Food is overpriced...leaves a lot to be desired considering the price of a meal for two was $150. At that price, each entree should be accompanied by a side of orgasm.

Oh, the shame. I hate giving bad reviews, but sometimes a restaurant goes out of it's way to get one. This, unfortunately is the case with Christy's. What could be the hippest, un hip spot in Coral Gables has reduced itself the the interim waiting room to heaven's gate and is serving the food to match. Mush is the operative adjective in the case. Fish - mushy. Steak - mushy. Mashed potatoes - mushy (ok, they are supposed to be, but mashed and mushed are not the same), veggies - mushy (and, appeared to be out of the Costco assorted frozen veggie medley pack). I still love the un-Miami-ness of the room, but a good spring cleaning would be helpful. Please, please, please, Mr. Not-so-Friendly Manager - work on getting the chef to let his light shine, or get a new chef who can serve the mush to those who desire it...and have some "real" food for the rest of us. At this point, Christy's is becoming wasted potential.

Best Miami Spice lunch deal! $23 for 3 courses, including filet mignon....I mean, wow. Here's the thing, although it was a great deal, I don't think I'll rush back with the other great steakhouses in Miami. It's great for Spice lunch, but I got my fill. I ordered the caesar salad, filet mignon, and key lime pie for dessert. The salad had too much dressing, but wasn't terrible. If there was just a bit less dressing, it would've been great. My filet was cooked well and probably the best thing about the meal. The sides of mashed potatoes were pretty good- creamy and not bland. The spinach- ick. Half the portion of spinach was undercooked and the whole thing had zero flavor. No, thanks. The key lime pie was way too tart for my taste and the crust was tough to get through. Service was efficient, but a bit cold. I've heard Christy's is great for special occasions, but I gotta say, it won't be at the top of my list for the next one. The steak was good, potatoes were decent, and salad would've been great with light dressing, but this only seems to be worth it for the Miami Spice lunch deal.

We had the pleasure of dining at Christy's on Friday, August 7, 2015, and took advantage of Miami Spice. From the moment we walked in and were greeted by Sofia, we knew it was going to be an enjoyable fine dining experience. Christy's martinis are some of the best in town. After relaxing for a while with our cocktails, we placed our order. We began with Caesar salads that had just the right amount of dressing. We had the rack of lamb and the filet. Both entrees were incredibly good and were attractively presented. The cabernet demi sauce served with the filet was so tasty and the steak was tender and flavorful; the rack of lamb was phenomenal. We ended the meal sharing the five nut brownie with caramel sauce and vanilla ice cream and cappuccinos. Every course was beautifully prepared and a treat to the taste buds. As well as the food being delicious, the service was outstanding. Delius was our waiter and provided superb service. We never felt rushed through the entire dining experience and Delius made certain that we had everything we could possibly need or want through our entire meal. We're looking forward to returning for another wonderful dinner and experience. I recommend making reservations, especially on the weekends; our reservation was at 7 PM and by 7:30 every table was filled. I would rate the quality of food and service at a 5 and rate the price range for this fine dining establishment to be a 4 out of 5.

Prime rib and Mac and cheese were both delicious. Even their Caesar salad was good! Loved the live pianist playing and the atmosphere in general. Waiter was very nice, attentive, and funny!

went for miami spice menu, the ambience was boring, very dimmed, old carpet floors. The prosecco was pretty good. To start , had the lobster bisque, was yummy, tasteful For Entree Had the rack of lamb, the meat was dry and the seasoning was not to liking, big portion though. The dessert was my favorite part, had the brownie and ice cream, Delicious. If it wasn't for Miami Spice, I would much rather go to a different steakhouse. On a side note, my friend had the sea bass, which was magnificent.!! Overall service was good

SAD, SAD- As a Miami native my family has been going to Christy's for years. With that said, my husband and I went last week. Everything has changed, and not for the better. They seem to be experimenting with their recipes (? saving money, why fix it's not broken?) #1- bread- changed it to a hard crusted & non memorable. Served with olive oil and ton of dried spices, the taste was overpowering. Yuck, how do you screw up an olive oil dip. #2- Caesar salad- why change your signature item??? Because the multiple cheeses they previously used are expensive. Now it's a mayo heavy nothing special salad. #3- Oysters Rockefeller- oyster was fresh, the creamed spinach was pasty & gooey. No other way to describe it. #4- New york strip- at $42 should have been tender and flavorful. It was tough, not a premium cut of meat. Sadly, this old stand by is now off my list.

I'm a fan of their CESAR SALAD....but that's about it. Good ambiance, decent food, but I'm a very picky steak house / fine dining customer. The steak is good, but not great. The mac & cheese was edible, but not to die for. I ordered the filet mignon & was expecting a mouth watering delicious piece of meat. It was good but I've simply just had better elsewhere to be honest. Christy's will be my go to place for cesar salad forever though. You can't get the flavor of the cesar dressing anywhere else in town. It's made with real anchovies and the cut of the lettuce and temperature is just perfect. I'll definitely come back for after work drinks, salad, and to enjoy the live pianoist. Perhaps I'll try something else on the dinner menu next time as well and hopefully the food is better.

A Coral Gables mainstay that does not live up to its reputation. They offer only one salad - caeser - which my wife wanted with oil and vinegar. The server brought the bottles (which were sticky) instead of carafes which most fine restaurants use and the oil was not olive oil. When a restaurant charges top dollar, as Christy's does, it sets the bar very high. Given the choice of steakhouses in Coral Gables, I couldn't recommend Christy's.

Im not a real big fan of these types of restaurants, but whatever, it was a special ocassion. I ordered the Filet miñgon, which they age there beef btw and it was delicious, blue crab cake for app, also delicious and baked alaska for desert. This place is fancy schmancy but the food was good. The tab was hefty, but thats expected of a place like this. Make sure you wear a suit lol.

Novio and I loved Christy's. It has an older classy feel to it which was a nice to get away from flashy Downtown Miami. Started with the Oysters Rockefeller, delicious. Baked with Parmesan and spinach made them not so silly to eat (I'm still warming up to oysters). Also with the Cesar salad and Lobster bisque. Yummy, but nothing to rave about. Entrees were delicious. Novi had the Pan Seared Snapper. I traded his spinach for the seared brussel sprouts (he doesn't eat his veggies so I can do that). I ordered the filet. All delicious. I tend to ask kindly for my steak to be cooked just a little more, this time was perrrrfect! Finished with the chocolate black out cake. I'm not much of a sweets person (only cause when I start I don't want to stop) but this was delicious! And my roommate loved that I had to take 90% of it home :) Lovely experience. The walls are lined with beautiful pieces of art which our waiter gave us a little lesson on as he saw us admiring them which was a nice little surprise.

This was my third time coming here for their Miami Spice dinner. This was the first time that I was disappointed. Caesar salad was one of the best I ever had. 8 oz filet not so much. The steak had a strange burnt flavor and it was medium well when I asked for medium. Major pet peeve is going to a steakhouse and for the steak not to be perfect. Chocolate dessert was good. Service was ok when the server was around but it seemed like we only saw her twice throughout our meal. They also took a very long time between courses so our dinner ended up taking 3 hours. I do like the ambiance of this place it's very romantic and quaint.

Expected A Better Experience In the South Florida area there are a lot of choices for food and as such you would expect everyone to be on top of their game. For years I have driven by Christy's and always said you know what we have to try this place. Everyone that talks about Christy's says it is a great experience. So we finally decided to give them a try. We made reservations via Open Table and the restaurant called to confirm. We tried to push the reservation back by 30 minutes but were told they were booked for the night. When we got to the restaurant we parked across the street and walked in. For a place that we were told is booked it was empty. We were seated - the ambience is kind of gloomy in the restaurant - but that was okay. Once we were seated our waiter came up to us and we had a hard time hearing him and understanding him. He appeared to be more interested in taking our order than answering our questions. We had questions about the menu being this was the first time we visited this restaurant. They are supposedly known for their steaks - well I am sorry to say - you can get a WAY better tasting steak at Grazzianos that is right around he corner. The desert (brownie) was great. We will go back because we happen to have a gift card we have to use - but after that - I am not sure we will ever visit again.

We always have a great meal at Christy's. Once a week, on Fridays, they open for lunch. Plus it just so happens that they're offering a nice Miami Spice Menu. Their caesar salad is always good. I ordered the filet nd my husband had the braised short ribs. Both were perfectly cooked and nicely presented. The filet was tender and delicious. The key lime pie for desert was just ok. We shared one there and took the other one to go. Service is always friendly, efficient and not snobby. I must say though, that with so many steakhouses in the immediate vicinity, it is definitely not my go to spot. Fleming's has my heart.... and my tummy! Christy's is a solid 3 1/2* but I rounded up since it was better than just ok.

My dad used to frequent this place with his business associates. It used to be very good, but I quit going because I kept receiving tough steaks. Went for lunch once and ordered little medallions of steak. They were lukewarm. I think Christy's gave up a long time ago. The owner was rude to me once, which was very odd. It had to do with another person's conduct, to which the owner had consented. Maybe he was just stressed out. There are good things about Christy's. They do a good job with drinks. The bread is good. The atmosphere is elegant. Once Ruth's and Morton's moved in, there was no longer any reason for anyone to go to Christy's.

I came here for the first time specifically for Miami Spice this month and absolutely loved it. The ambience was nice & welcoming, the food was delicious. Definitely start off with the Cesar salad! I choose the Braised Short Ribs for my main course and it was delicious. Perfectly cooked and satisfying! The key lime pie and cappuccino were a great way to top off my lunch. I would definitely come back again!

BAD MANAGER Last night I went with my wife to the piano bar at Christy's restaurant 3101 Ponce de Leon Blvd Coral gables, we got there at 6:30 PM and as it was raining, I let my wife go first in the restaurant to wait for me while I parked the car since they don't have de valet parking service, as I got to the restaurant my wife was outside the door of the restaurant and she told me that she was inside at the entrance looking through a window waiting for me and someone from the restaurant in a very, very rude attitude closed the blinds in her face, my wife explained why she was there but the man didn't care, anyway we came to the bar where the live music is and as my wife showed me who the rude person was, I asked one of the servers who that person was and the server told me: he is the restaurant's manager. I decided not to complain with him because the complaint was going to end right there, nobody else would now about this. We got the last empty table at the bar and ordered our drinks which took a while since there was just one person working the bar, a barmaid serving everybody at the bar and the counter does not have an exit from behind it to the front so whoever is serving has to go to the back and then through the main dining room to get to the tables at the bar, she was doing her best and is a fast and smiling person very polite and nice. We ordered the short ribs and the flatbread, the short ribs are presented in a small hamburger way with cheese and a sauce which was sweet and together didn't have a nice flavor, the flatbread was OK but nothing special. The bar was very loud, the people, not the music, they should use noise absorbent materials in order to reduce that really annoying amount of noise, jazz with a piano and a bas was a little bit in the conservatory way, way too classic, not the songs that we all want to find at a piano bar the ones that bring romantic and beautiful memories. Yes, you guessed it this was the last time we go to Christy's, a restaurant's manager has to be role model of courtesy and finesse and of course this person does not have a bit of education. It is a pity because both of us have had great times at the bar and dining there. The manager deserves MINUS 10 stars, the barmaid and other servers made our night.

Went here a long gim ago with regulars and back then the menu had more to choose from and everything seemed better. My wife had been dying to try this place since the last time I came was with people from work and finally brought her. Reservation was on point and they sat us right away. Apparently our waiter had not shown up for work so we had to wait a little while which wasn't really a problem. My wife had the sea bass which she said was good. I had the New York strip and it was not great at all. The meat was tough and had no flavor at all. We ordered the mashed potatoes and they were so dry it was pitiful... Instant potatoes are better than what we had. We had the baked Alaska for dessert and that was very good. For an independent steakhouse you guys need to bring up your standards because they have fell from when I was here last.

I have been in Miami for about three years and dine at most trendy spots like the rest of them, but whenever I get a really great meal I have to let my fellow foodies know. Ok blah blah blah its a cool spot with a highly sophisticated crowd, but the food!! Thats whats gonna keep me and you coming back as often as I have since I discovered this place that apparently is one of Miami's oldest steakhouse. You know its good when most of the people that frequent are the locals. AMAZING LAMB and salmon. I order lamb most places i go but this is better than any other lamb I've tried (including prime 112 and Red) Great ceasar salad and a great wine selection too. The bartendar makes a stiff drink while you wait to be seated. No obnoxious hip hop crowd, mostly lawyers and bankers that keep it simple, just good food and a cool spot they have been going for years. I enjoy dessert but never do I order bread pudding, so my bf ordered it and I swear I dream of this bread pudding. You must try it, even if you dont like bread pudding, i swear its epic!!!

Boy has this place been around. When I was child my mother first took me here and I feel in love with their famous Ceasar salad. When I was finally old enough to pay my own bill, I quickly realized the quality of food had fallen off drastically over the year's. The teriyaki steak was salty and the sauce was burnt. The service was okay. Won't ever go back. Just will enjoy the old memories with my mom instead.

Tradition is a wonderful thing. Christy's has withstood the test of time and new-fangled competition. As the Gables earliest still standing steak house, it is giving us all a great meal in a great, classic environment. Of course the beef is terrific, and the Cesar Salad. But come for the perfectly seared herb-crusted Sea Bass! And the Snapper filet is excellent too. The chocolate brownie desseret a la mode is enough for three! The bar was surprisingly lively at 6:45 on a Thursday night and the seperation of tow smaller dining rooms makes for a great ambience. Bravo to Christy's for staying strong.

This is an old time feel steakhouse. Very dark but a nice ambiance. The service was very professional and helpful. For the food: The casear salad was nothing special. Not sure what all these reviews are about with the salad. It was a good salad but nothing to write home about. The steak had alot of flavor. Baked potato was average. Food 7/10 Service 8/10 Ambiance 7/10 Pricing 5/10

I hadn't been to this landmark restaurant for several years, and stopped by for lunch yesterday. I'm so glad I did. After 35 years in business, it is still doing everything right. The service was impeccable. Our server Tony, could explain and discuss any and all menu items, from appetizers to wines. He was attentive without being intrusive. Every single item of food was delectable. The shrimp cocktail comes with four enormous shrimp, the escargot buttery and heavy on the garlic (which is a good thing!), the black bean soup with a shot of sherry was rich and tasty, the scallops were AMAZING as was the beef short rib -- tender and savory. The desserts were equally delicious, from the delightful cheesecake to the blackout chocolate cake. There is a reason why this restaurant has been around so long. It gets it right.

This has to be one of the longest running restaurants in Coral Gables. Always an enjoyable experience here. I remembered it being a bit more stuffy before; however, the place seems to be spiffed up and modernized a bit, although still very old school classic. Food is consistent and delicious as always. Their specialty is steak; however, I tried the salmon this time and wasn't disappointed. Generous portions, prices in line with what I was expecting and overall a great experience. I'd definitely return.

I say one of the only Steakhouses left were you get your moneys worth when it comes to the Meat Selection they have. I love to start out with the Shrimp Cocktail or the Calamari are so good. Then they server you your Cesar Salad which is one of the best i have had in Miami. Then I usually get the Prime Rib or the Porterhouse Steak. Comes with a Baked Potato which the server comes to you with butter, chives, and sour cream. Soooo Good. Then I finish off this delectable experience off with a Slice of Key Lime Pie or if you wanna share with someone I recommend the Baked Alaska. They also have a Full Bar and a extensive selection of wines. If you can ask for Nacho he is one of the best servers they have.

Love this aging retro establishment. Our first experience was forty years ago and not much has changed. They deliver a great steak, caesar and baked potato and all with a touch of old school class. Granted, the ambience and menu is probably not for the very young who enjoy the newest shiny thing but us old-timers love that walk back.

/ Miami Spice Review / I've lived in the Coral Gables area for my whole life. I've driven by Christy's more times that I can possibly imagine, yet never stepped foot inside until tonight. I really didn't know what to expect. Sure, I knew it was "fancy" Restaurant, but that's just like calling Moby Dick a book about a whale. If it wasn't for Miami Spice, I would never have tried this out. Unfortunately, I may not go back outside of the Miami Spice offers. When you walk in, you immediately are greeted by the hostess. I had reservations (learned my lesson from other places for Miami Spice) so seating was nearly a breeze. I sat briefly at the bar and listened to the live music (Sinatra covers) on the piano while waiting for the table. It was no more than two or three minutes of waiting. The bar itself is TINY. There were only FIVE stools! No real reason to come here to drink! Don't look for beers, because there isn't a beer fancy enough to qualify for the bottom shelf of their liquors here. A "minor" complaint was they did NOT have any Riesling wines by the glass, only by the bottle. Minus one star for limiting options that dramatically. After seating I took a few moments to eyeball the room. I realized that I am "too young" for the crowd; namely, I didn't have enough gray hair. I felt really out of place. Christy's isn't for the "under 35" crowd. Otherwise, everything was comfortable, but not too extravagant. The Cesar salad was good, but not special. The lamb was good, but not special. The chocolate brownie with ice cream was good, but (once again) not special. Nothing about the food made it stand out. One big complaint I have is that their steak knives are way too dull to cut through the lamb. I recognize lamb is tougher than regular meat at times, but these knives weren't *drum-roll* cutting it. Bottom Line: Meh. Flashy but not special. This is pretty much for "old money" type of people. If they don't change or update their image; their staple clientele won't be around in 5-10 years to keep them in business.

Despite having gone there a zillion times over the years the host never welcomes you as if they have ever seen you before! Noisier than ever, bread awful, service very slow, prices higher than ever, rib eye for $50 now is not great, salad still good, drinks are a weak poor, baked Alaska still good.... Time to find a new place to bring our money and family to! Also, Sea bass was good, scallops ok, asparagus not cooked enough

Got the NY strip a classic cut. Ordered it medium rare bit it came medium plus. We were in a group of 20 so I suspect it may have sat a bit before getting to me. The beef was very tasty as were the fries and the service was terrific. No complaints from anyone in the group. Enjoyable evening for all. I would go back.

Sorry Christy's management, tell your hostess who answers the phone and takes carry out orders to pay attention when we call AND NOT TO RUSH US OFF THE PHONE. "Grilled chicken Caesar salad, separate the lettuce, dressing and chicken so my salad isn't all soggy by the time I get home" (I could not have been any more clear!!! ) = EPIC FAIL. And for $20 it's especially irritating when my instructions are not followed, for that I would go to McDonalds. You owe me $20, and stupid me for tipping on top of that.

As always, Christy's is outstanding. The pianist is a relatively "new" addition. He sets the mood for dinner. My only regret is that YELP connected me to "Open Table" to make the reservation, without giving me a chance to enter my "Open Table" frequent-diner numbret.

Wanted to let everyone know that this month, Christy's is celebrating their 30th anniversary with a 3 course dinner for $30 per person. I have been a fan of Christy's because we celebrated many events: birthdays, Valentine's graduations and anniversaries at Christy's but have not been back for a while. I will definitely go back to Christy's sometime this month and update the review.

This review is on the happy hour at Christys on Fridays. I believe it runs from 4-7. As much as i absolutely love the regular menu, i can not say the same about the happy hour menu. Being near miracle mile, it is in a location where happy hours rule the zone on Fridays and you have competition near by from Flemings, Morton's and Ruth Chris. So i was disappointed when i did not find the fillet Mignon burgers i had hyped up in my head the whole week, it had been on the HH menu back in February and i guess they took it off. Instead they had pulled pork sliders, potato skins, crab cakes, and Rockefeller oysters obviously in smaller proportions. These were half off and came out to around $4 each. However, the pulled pork sliders were mediocre, the potato skins were just fries with a sauce on the side, the crab cakes were good just small and the oysters were oysters. I ended up ordering a side Caesar for $7 because none of the appetizers excited me, and if there's one thing they never do wrong is the Caesar! The well drinks were half off so it was a surprise to see the drinks come out to $8 each. I guess they're regularly $16 which is a rip off since they were nothing special. The service as usual was on point, they just need to vamp up the happy hour menu. I love the pianist they have on Fridays as well.

We went here for a Saturday night dinner with two couples. It happened to be during Miami Spice (a $39 prix-fixe menu), so we all ordered off the Miami Spice menu. That was an exceptional deal! For $39 we each got an appetizer, main course, and dessert. With a shared bottle of wine, the entire bill came to $200, which was a steal. The caesar salad is, apparently, their specialty, and it didn't disappoint. Mind you, making a great caesar is not that challenging, but mine with anchovies was quite tasty. For the main course, I opted for the 8-oz filet mignon. On the standard menu this alone is normally $42, which gives you an idea of how great the Miami Spice deal is. It was a very good steak, perhaps a bit overcooked, but very good overall. Dessert was chocolate cake. Outstanding. As for ambience, it was nice but quite crowded (we were one of five tables in a smallish room). Once all the tables were full, it was very loud, and difficult to have a nice conversation. That was the one thing not commensurate with the quality of the food. Christy's is a solid steak house, with good food, and I would go again. It's a steal with the Miami Spice menu.

We went for their wine tasting and hors d'oeuvres followed by dinner bee opted for burgers with Gorgonzola and caramelized onions (skipping the bacon) with skinny fries. Everything was perfect in a beautiful luxurious atmosphere with excellent service.

Haven't been in a few years but decided it was time to come again for Gables Restaurant Week. The caesar salad is as good as I remember and lives up to its reputation. Filet was cooked to perfection. Our whole table left very happy.

Very disappointed from the moment we got there. Our reservation was for 7:30 and we arrived about 5 min late and were told by the less than gracious hostess our table had been given away. When I asked how long we would have to wait we were told maybe 10 or 20 minutes. I asked her why there was a wait when there was no one else waiting and vacant tables. We were only 5 minutes late and this was for my 91 year old mother's birthday dinner! I expressed my concern and asked for the manager. The hostess just said i am sorry there is nothing i can do. No smile, no offer of a glass of wine. The manager ignored us but then miraculously we were seated. Maybe because I was starting to make a reservation at Ruth Chris on open table which was able to seat us in 15 min !! Oh wow There was our table for 5. There was no other large party's coming in after us. So i am still trying to figure out why the terrible treatment. The manager never checked on us or apologized. The waiter Diego was pleasant but slow service. Mostly elderly couples from the Gables old school. Food just ok for high end. I'd have preferred Flemings. Not going back Christy's needs to retire. Super disappointed. The white chocolate bread pudding in Nordstroms Bistro is better. The rack of lamb was good but the filet just so so. We weren't offered bearnaise or peppercorn. Caesar salad was good

this place smells like grandmas closet! super old, and reminds me of Disney's haunted mansion. Food was 'ok' no big deal. Filet was overcooked, and not tender... after hearing about this restaurant for years, I expected a lot more. Service was good.

My wife and I recently visited for our wedding anniversary and decided to spend it at this "legendary" Gables restaurant. There are some restaurants whose past is more glorious than its present and unfortunately Christy's appears to be one of them. We arrived promptly for our 8 PM reservation and were not seated until 8:40 PM. The situation was made worse by a very small bar/waiting area which was also filled to capacity with people waiting for tables. Eventually they gave us each a glass of wine as a peace offering for our trouble. The famed Ceasar's Salad was nothing special and on par with that which I have had at chain restaurants like Outback or Longhorn's. My wife had the Salmon which was tasty and well cooked served in a cream sauce containing peas and carrots. Good, but not $$$ good. I had the filet minon ordered to be cooked medium. I got a dry, medium well, charred on the outside piece of meat. This was served with exactly 4 pale, small, asparagus strands and half of a cooked clove of garlic! The best part of my meal was the home made key lime pie which was exceptional. The restaurant is small and the tables crowded. There was considerable ambient noise from all the conversations going on. The piano and bass players were a nice touch but regrettfully were drowned out by the crowd noise. In short, do not come here for an intimate, romantic meal. The service from our waiter was hurried and impersonal and it was clear that they were eager to move us in and out quickly. Overall, I felt that our being there was causing an inconvenience Our visit coincided with Coral Gables Restaurant Week and perhaps this had something to do with our experience. Nonetheless, you can do considerably better by going to nearby Flemings Steakhouse or Mortons for the same $$$. We will not be returning.

For a restaurant that purports itself as a fine steakhouse, one that has supposedly been visited by famous Floridians and celebrities alike (including Michael Jordan I am told), the steak is decent at best. We each had the Spice-Week special filet mignon and it was rather dry and bland. Don't get me wrong, it was better than a Hooters steak, but we were expecting better. Based on the steak alone this restaurant is 3-stars but... The other items on the menu are fantastic. Ed likens the side of potatoes as the best in the Western Atlantic Coast (nothing beats Ireland but this was pretty darn good). The veggies are cooked perfectly and seasoned well, while the appetizers and deserts are delicious. We recommend the spinach salad and the brownie a la mode. As far as the ambience is concerend, the place is very quaint. This is not a South Beach scene, it is more like a West Palm Beach scene. The crowd is older, and they sip their scotches and red wines. No jagerbombs here, and we were perfectly okay with that.

If you smoosh all the other reviews written so far together, you would have one really accurate review of this place. Some people are going to love it for it's old style feel. I, personally, liked the red panel walls. But I can definitely see how someone could view them as old and outdated, instead of classic and cool. The food is very good, but overpriced. And though my steak was cooked to the right temperature and very tender, I could do with more flavor. The creme brulee was very good, served in a wide shallow dish which means more caramelized sugar per bite. Service was wonderful.

Besides the fact that their steaks are superb, there are three things you MUST order here: 1. Black Bean Soup - I have never had a black bean soup like this one. I'm Cuban, by the way, so I intake black bean soup like I do water. It is DELICIOUS. I go back just to have some. 2. Caesar Salad - Their cesar salad is amazing. I don't know if it's the sauce, their lettuce, or their croutons, because you'd think a Caesar salad is a Caesar salad regardless of where you order it, but trust me, it's good stuff. 3 - Baked Alaska - This dessert is famous. They light it on FIRE! Need I say more? It's definitely pricey. Be prepared to pay a pretty penny but the food is worth it. The service is never less than perfect and if you're going on a Friday or Saturday night, be sure to make reservations.

If I was reviewing just on food and the value of the Spice Menu, I'd go 4 stars (can't get a 5 on my first visit unless it's a WOW experience). But I was really happy with the food as was everyone in our party of 8. The wait time between meals was inexplicably long, which meant more family talk at the table- which can sometimes be bad for us and those around us! The Ceasar salad was delicious, one of the tastiest I've ever had. But did it take that long to cook it ? Not shortly after, the rack of lamb came out and impressed! Huge portion, perfectly pink, and delicious. Only wish the baked potato wasn't so plain as a side. Finished off with brownie a la mode and key lime....delicious but it was almost breakfast time.

My wife and I went for a holiday dinner with two other couples. We have been coming here for holiday dinner with the same couples for the last 7-8 years. There have been some changes since last year. They removed the seating from the first dining area and installed a bar and lounge with a piano player. It is a nice change and added a lot of life to the place. It doesn't seem like the geriatrics dining room it did just a few years ago. There also seemed to be a lot of new younger waiters. Unfortunately, the food has not seen an equal improvement and the manager is an aloof presence. It took almost one hour for us to be seated even though we had a reservation. One of the waiters dealing with our reservation situation offered us a round of drinks. When we had to pay for our drinks at the bar before moving to the table, all of the drinks were included in the bill. When several of the girls in our party pointed out the mistake to the waitress she wandered around the place a while trying to confirm the round of drinks offer and finally came back and said the person that told us we could get a round of drinks was not around so she couldn't confirm it. So instead she took three of the cheapest drinks off the bill. Meanwhile during this whole confusion, the manager stood around, ignoring the whole situation, talking to his friends and the cute little lounge singer. We were finally able to sit down and order. My Oysters Rockefeller were not even close to the spirit of the original, just oysters with spinach and cheese on top, neither of which belongs in a proper Rockefeller. My NY Strip was slightly overcooked at medium, not medium rare as ordered and was not a particularly noteworthy piece of meat at that. My wife didn't finish her Salmon. There were no exclamations of joy coming from any of my other dining companions so I am just assuming that the food was sufficient. Since they had taken so long to get us to our table we were not able to have dessert or coffee as we had to pick up our son at a friends house. It was an unfortunately rushed ending to our celebratory meal. I am hoping that all of the couples involved will be able to agree on a new restaurant to re-start our tradition next year.

Food was great. However, when this place gets packed it gets loud. Like really loud. Like you better sit next to your date and make sure you dont mind repeating yourself loud. But the food is great. Decor is nice. Servers are helpful with any steak questions. They have live jazz during happy hour (although the bar is really tiny) and we love the crab cakes served at the bar. Mojitos here are great, better than Mortons and the wife thought that was impossible.

I and 3 others had the prime rib. We all ordered it med rare and all 4 arrived perfectly cooked. The prime rib was excellant, the Ceasar Salad was very good and the sides of baked potato, garlic mashed potatoes, string french fries and asparagur were all wonderful. Ther service was very good.

Stupid scam. Had not beenat Christy's in years. Heard the food was good.... & we returned Read that there were questionable billing issues & thus looked at the check - something we never do. We were double charged for drinks AND soup. Stupid, will never go back despite the good food.

I come here for lunch on workdays when I want to have a serious lunch (with colleagues that need buttering up or when I have to do an employee appraisal - yes, sometimes a good lunch makes all the difference!). Service is super, always! Food is ok, depending on what you order. This is a steak house, so you can't go wrong with steak. The sides are so-so, but the Caesar salad is always good. The last time I went I got terrible tongue burn from the escargots that were probably broiled to death, but otherwise I have no complaints.

I so would have given Christie's 5 stars but for the prices (I'm poor!) A group of us took a colleague out for her birthday here. Our waiter was funny and sweet and attentive. The food was AMAZEBALLS. I got the lobster bisque and spinach salad and pilfered some of my neighbors mahi mahi special. Just these items had my belly full but then the waiter brought out the Baked Alaska. Oh Lord. I'd never had it before and it was so good. The decor is a little dark but I chalk it up to "ambiance." Perfect for a couple out for a romantic dinner. I definitely recommend Christie's for anyone: 1. Celebrating a special occasion; 2. Looking for high class dining who can afford it!

A steakhouse whose main attractions are everything non-steak? Hmm... My first visit to this famed, elegant restaurant located off-off Miracle Mile was in its private room for a party and I could not wait to try their steak. I was unfortunately disappointed, as the cut was average and lacking flavor. It took awhile for me to return, but I eventually did and tried their Miami Spice lunch special - again, disappointing. The filet mignon tips (mental note: any food with the word 'tips' in it should be avoided) were tough and I still could not find any flavor to the meat; and, the sides of broccoli and mash potatoes were nothing special. Meanwhile, the key lime pie was a treat, though I don't think I could resist even bad key lime pie. But, It is hard not to walk into this place and be taken by the ambiance. It is very stately, but, at the same time, mysterious (the red theme reminded me of Twin Peaks). The first class service also keeps with the old school theme. Now, if they would just work on improving the food...

We had a disastrous meal at what , up until now , had been a favorite place for a celebratory meal in the Gables. The snapper and salmon dinners were the worst preparations we have had in our 37 years here. They were dry and so salty that, to me, they were not edible. The manager said that " they had a problem in the kitchen - that they were no longer serving the snapper ". We expected more than an apology. They deducted two partly eaten snapper meals but left the other partly eaten salmon on the bill and charged for the desserts we ordered . We ordered desserts partly because we were still hungry after returning a good portion of our meals and partly because we thought the manager would comp them after he had acknowledged a grave problem in the kitchen . So -- do not go to Christy's expecting the reliable good food of the past. Did they fail to deduct portions of our bill because they needed the money more than they needed a devoted customer? What was going on in the kitchen ? Does anyone know what is going on -- new owners ? Thanks to the piano player for the lovely piano music. I hope he finds another place to play.

If you come to Christy's order two things: 1. Ceasar salad 2. Baked Alaska I am giving Christy's 5 stars purely based on their Ceasar salad. I consider myself a Ceasar salad aficionado, and this is the best one that I've ever had. With homemade croutons, a dressing that should be kept under lock and key and savory anchovies balancing fresh romaine hearts--:: sigh:: be still my heart. Our group ordered a baked alaska and I fell in love with this flaming, retro throwback desert. Christy's is classic, old school and awesome. And they've totally validated my argument that salad and desert can make a truly memorable dining experience.

i have been coming to christy's for years and it never fails. they are always really nice and the food is top notch. as soon as you walk in you feel like you are surrounded by important people, probably bc during lunch hour there are plenty of miami's who's who having top secret meetings, usually towards the back. its very red, very dark, very dramatic in there. the caeser salad is a must, the filet is divine, and the baked alaska is the signature dessert. ( i still remember seeing it for the first time as a kid) my office gets take out from here every once in a while. we usually get a soup and salad. either black bean or french onion soup and a chicken caeser salad, which is definitely big enough for 2 people to share, they also give you a whole loaf of bread - yum!!

I've been a regular for 20 plus years going back to the days when this was the only steakhouse in Coral Gables. Well, now it has lots of competition and it's the still my favorite local steakhouse. The beef is simply perfect every time. The Caesar salad is the best Caesar anywhere. I love this place. Great for business. Great for celebrations. Great just because you feel like having some great beef tonight. You can't do better. Service is elegant and perfect.

I came here on Thurs for dinner. We ordered from the Miami spice menu which was given to us at the same time as the regular menu. I had the lobster bisque which was really good and very tasty. As my main dish I had the 8 oz. Filet mignon. I asked for the steak to be cooked medium rare which it was not. The steak for god knows what reason actually varied in temperature, the first part was medium and the last part was medium rare. I don't know how this happened but it did. Also the top of the steak was over cooked and I actually tasted burnt pieces. The filet was bland, there was no sauce that could help it, I mean it was beyond repair. I didn't complain because we ordered off the Miami Spice menu and for $39.00 my meal was decent. Honestly, I just didn't want to deal with talking to anyone about how poorly cooked it was. The desert was delicious, I had the blackout chocolate cake which was moist and perfect. Overall, the waiter wasn't attentive the mood in the restaurant was bleak and my entree left little to be desired. I don't see future dinners there.

After being seated at our comfortable, quiet table at Christy's and settling in, I looked around. I was frankly surprised not to see Dean Martin table hopping with a martini glass in hand, or hear Frankie tinkling on the piano. It's that kind of place. We have them in LA, but here they're ironic. In Coral Gables, they mean it. It's a richie-rich hangout, as evidenced by the parade of elderly couples who (again, unironically) looked like The Millionaire and his Wife from Gilligan's Island. And so, the food was old-style Rat Pack food as well, for better or worse. Much fuss is made about their steaks, so I got one. Prime Rib, at $39 smackeroos a plate. What was on that plate, you'll ask? A big slab of meat that came considerably overcooked (I'd asked for rare) and was acompanied by a miserly spoonful of their famous horseradish "sauce" (from what I could tell, just horseradish out of a squeeze bottle) and about 12 button mushrooms, "broiled." I love mushrooms, but these fellas were rather unloveable. Small, hard, and way too salty...they just didn't do much for the steak. And the steak? Meh. Really, just meh. And the famous Ceasar Salad? No big whoop, let me tell you. I've gotten much better at Panera. My companions had the filet mignon (which I wish I'd chosen instead), the herb-crusted sea bass (praises were not sung) and grouper (which looked fine). Our bottle of wine came too chilled. The enormous slab of key lime pie I got for dessert was pretty fabulous, though. Tart, with a buttery graham crust, and a nice creamy texture. My companions got the blackout pie, and pronounced themselves unimpressed. We had to send back our espressos because they were so weak they looked like tea. I was being treated, so I feel kind of bad complaining. However, I'm sure the bill was substantial, although the food was sub-standard in the extrmeme, and it shouldn't be that way in a world-class city like Miami. It's really true that rich people have awful taste in food.

It's Miami Spice time again and in the Coral Gables area, Christys is definitely the best deal. I love the petite filets with mash potatoes and stir fired spinach with a mushroom gravy. The spinach salad is also the best I have been able to find so far and the soups are great. They arent offering the baked alaska this year but the brownie and key lime are good. Great deal for $22 and the service will make you feel like a VIP. I have never been disappointed eating here.

Great steakhouse! This restaurant truly knows how to cook steaks to perfection! Excellent food, excellent service. Entrees come with Caesar Salad, side veggies and baked potato. Highly recommend! THE old school steakhouse. A place to take the parents or the grandparents. Quality and attitude has certainly varied over the years but has recently returned to form. Above average meats. Try the teriyaki filet mignon for a surprisingly good taste sensation. The best Caesar salad anywhere. Professional service. While no one in Miami serves the exceptional, perfectly trimmed filet mignon that New York Prime serves up in Boca, Christy's is a welcome "local" break from the steakhouse names you're forced to see in every major US city. Plenty of on-street parking.

Very old-school. Some might call it stuffy, but I like the classic charm. Although it is known as a steakhouse, everything on the menu is good, but you will pay a lot for it. If you really want the best Christy's has to offer, make sure to order a steak, either rare or medium rare (Otherwise, what is the point?), followed by their baked Alaska.

  • DAVID F.

the starters and salads were delicious, and the sides were aweseome (creamed spinach with a wonderful flaky phyllo-type casing and probably the best potatoes au gratin i've ever had). too bad that the filet mignon was among the worst I've ever had. The grill marks made the whole taste burnt, and the quality of the meat was more along the lines of what I'd expect for $10 at a TGI friday's. I'll try christy's again, but I'll be sure to send it back next time if its like that. I just didn't want to ruin the occasion by complaining about the steak.

Dinner Friday night, the 6th, with my son. Ordered hamburger medium rare. Burger came medium well. Service terrible. Took way too long to find a waiter to send burger back and have it grilled properly. No one was around. Son's steak was just okay and it was the daily special. Burger fair. Again, service was terrible. We did not even stay for coffee. Got check and left. Will not be back.

i might be a little biased since i had such a wonderful evening here. shared a porterhouse, solid but not blown away. had a few anchovies with the classic caesar salad baked alaska flamed in front of you -- can't compete with Michy's baked alaska though older, classic appeal with red wall finish glad it's not a chain, and is a historic miami dining destination.

When we arrived for a late lunch. There were only two other tables seated that had just finished their desserts. Our server was very friendly and personally, had no complaints about his service. After being seated we were given water and bread. Five minutes later he took our drink order. The drinks arrived 5 minutes after that and I informed him we were ready to order. Our salads arrived five minutes after that. My son and I both ordered the Miami spice special double petite fillet and my husband the mahi mahi off the regular menu. After completing our salads we waited for about fifteen minutes for our main course to arrive remember by now we are the ONLY table being served!!! My son and I both asked for our steaks medium rare, they arrive well-done. My husbands fish was at best something out of a TV dinner GROSS!!! We sent back our steaks and within a minutes had new steaks???? Do they not cook to order?? The sever decided to comp us a dessert, woohoo! Once my son received his walnut brownie I was pure batter... They do not fully bake their brownies. The server informed me they microwave it to warm them up. All this in an empty restaurant and the manager not once stopped by to offer an apology. On the way out I asked the hostess for the general managers name, she could only give me his first name. When I told her i need his last name she went to get him and she returned to tell me he couldn't come out because he was in a meeting and still no last name... WOW where did he go to hospitality or business school, probably no where. If I could have given then ZERO stars I would!!! I will never go back to Christy's, there are too many other fine dinning steak houses in Miami with much higher standards!!!!

Christy's is an old dame of Coral Gables, part of the old school dining establishment and power lunch dining scene. The scenery may look retro (blood red walls, dimmed lighting, 1960s-1970s) but the steak speaks for itself. It's good! So's the stone crabs. And the Baked Alaska is pure kitsch, I don't know any establishment that serves that dish. If you don't know, its fancy Neapolitan ice cream flambe. The servers are old school with the old fashion outfits but I agree with the last poster, the service has turned sketchy. The caesar salad is outstanding and so is the lobster bisque, if you're a fan, you must try it. I could have picked up the bowl and slurped it down it was that good.

I dined at Christy's for the first time and had an amazing experience. My friend and I decided to have a drink at the piano bar so we could catch up with one another before having dinner. The live music was wonderful. It was the perfect volume, as my friend and I had no trouble talking over the music while enjoying our mojitos. Apparently, the piano bar is a recent addition to the restaurant. This was a little surprising to me, as it fits with the vibe of the restaurant perfectly. Instead of moving to another table, we decided to eat dinner in the bar area. Despite the fact we weren't sitting in one of the formal dining rooms, service was impeccable. Our glasses were never empty and we never had trouble getting our server's attention. I decided on the pan seared snapper which was topped with a roasted garlic tomato sauce. I'm usually a tough critic when it comes to seafood, but I can honestly say that this may have been the best snapper I have ever eaten. It was perfectly prepared and not over seasoned. The sauce complemented the flavor of the fish and was not overpowering. The caesar salad was just as good as all the other reviews said it would be. However, my favorite part of the whole meal was the dessert. We shared a piece of key lime pie, but now I wish I would have ordered my own. I wish I could get their recipe, because I would easily replace my grandmother's key lime pie recipe with Christy's recipe. If you go to Christy's without ordering a slice of this pie, you will be missing out on one of the best items on the menu! Overall, I could not have had a better experience while dining at Christy's. The gentleman playing the piano was outstanding and accommodated any musical request, whether from me or other guests in the dining rooms. Service was impeccable and the food was terrific. Next time I make it over to Miami, another trip to Christy's will absolutely be on the agenda!
