An excellent restaurant in Historic Cocoa Village. Great dishes and atmosphere. The owner, Daniel is very cordial and accommodating to his customers. Staff was very customer service oriented and friendly too. Perfect for an evening of fine dining, or a relaxing dinner before a play at the Cocoa Village Playhouse.

Had a wonderful dinner. My wife and I both loved the food and the atmosphere. We found it very relaxing. Since it is a smaller restaurant, it was not too busy and noisy. We could actually hear each other without yelling. Looking forward to going again on our next visit to the area.

To celebrate an upcoming birthday, we were looking for a special restaurant. I decided on the Black Tulip. After reading some negative online reviews, I was getting discouraged but we decide to go ahead with a lunch booking. We discovered, however, that it is no longer opened for lunch so we switched the reservation to dinner at 6 PM on a Friday night. The owner, Daniel Colzani, is concentrating on his lunch catering business instead. The pretty building has a charming mural on its façade that always draws my attention when I pass it. The hostess showed us to an inside room so that we could all sit around a large round table. As we passed the first dining room, I noticed it was dark with lovely paintings & some tree trunks in the floor (?). Our room looked lovely with black or white tablecloths & contrasting cloth napkins on the tables. Each table was decorated with a vase of very festive red tulips. They contrasted nicely with the black & white motif. Black tulle draped from the high ceilings & around the decorated entrance. Spanish-themed paintings graced the pale yellow walls. The room looked charming & bright with several white French doors looking out on the patio. There, tables were decorated in black cloths with small flower arrangements-it looked inviting. It was a perfect night to dine alfresco. Several patrons enjoyed cocktails at the bright, mirrored bar near where we sat. Since it was a Friday night, I hoped that we would hear piano music but Brandi, our waitress said that the last time that someone played it was on Valentine's Day. There weren't as many diners as we expected on a Friday Night especially since the Playhouse was having a show. Perhaps the economy or the negative reviews were the cause. We were quickly served water & the waitress took our drink orders forgetting to tell us that it was Happy Hour until one of our group inquired about the several patrons sitting at the bar. The server was new, she explained and later reported that our carafe of wine would count for Happy Hour pricing. All was well. Service throughout was what we expected from this upscale establishment - reserved, polite yet non intimidating. The 18 Entrees on the menu ranged from $14 (Tilapia Florentine) - $26 (Surf-N-Turf.) All Entrees include a House Salad, Vegetables and Starch. The birthday honoree ordered Baked Stuffed Shrimp $20.95. It looked yummy. Two of us had Tulip Double Roast Duckling $23.95. Another had Veal Oscar $24.95 while the fifth diner had Baked Stuffed Grouper $22.95. All the dishes were wonderful. Brandi said that the Duckling was very popular. The large portion of Duckling arrived in a semi sweet red wine pear sauce with cooked pear segments and cashews - delightful. I was only able to eat half of it. Accompanying the duckling were shredded cooked red cabbage, crispy slender green beans & boiled potatoes. A couple of minutes later, the Veal Oscar & Grouper were served. The Veal was topped with blue crabmeat, fresh asparagus, glazed with hollandaise. Its recipient finished every last tasty bite. The Grouper, wrapped in a flaky puff pastry, stuffed with crabmeat and baked golden brown in a lemon sauce was declared delicious. We all loved the chilled fresh House Salad served on a chilled, charming salad plate atop a paper lacy doily - so sweet. The salads were comprised of tomato, cucumber & croutons layered on a bed of fresh mixed greens drizzled with a creamy house curry vinaigrette. None of us particularly like curry but it was done with such a light touch that it was delicious. A wired basket of small hot crispy rolls covered in a black cloth arrived with balls of fresh better with bits of pimento - very tasty & unusual. The butter was presented on a lovely silver scalloped server. Again, care was taken with presentation. Of course we needed a refill because the rolls & butter disappeared quickly. I thought that the menu was quite good, varied in a wide range of prices to fit different sized pockets. The waitress mentioned several specials also. There are four soups & five appetizers on the menu. Next time I'll order a Spinach Salad that sounded particularly delicious served with chopped bacon, mushrooms, boiled eggs, Romano cheese and warm bacon dressing $4.50 with an Entrée or $9.95 as an Entrée. Add Shrimp or Chicken for an extra couple of dollars. A delicious cheesecake was served complementary to the birthday person & I tasted a not-so-small piece - scrumptious. . We all left contented, satisfied and full. We had an enjoyable visit & a wonderful celebration. We hope to return. Black Tulip is celebrating its 28th year in Cocoa Vill

Accidentally found this restaurant looking for another one. Liked the menu and atmosphere. Ordered the eggplant appetizer and a house salad. The curry house dressing was amazing. The eggplant was also very good. Portion was nice for an appetizer and the combination of both was perfect for a light dinner. Sat in the bar area. Service was great - nice and efficient. It was very slow business wise (might have been day of the week and time) but overall loved the atmosphere and food. Highly recommend.

Four of us went for dinner on a Saturday night. Two in our party had fond memories of this place growing up, and wanted to revisit for sentimental reasons, sort of. This was a very strange restaurant experience, all the way around for me. No one else seemed to feel the same way. First of all, the decor is dated, both in a charming way, and then again, in a hideous way. The menu was dated, but then again, lots of folks like the classics. Some of these items just weren't classics, however. Friend #1-roasted duck. Huge portion, and everyone enjoyed their taste. I didn't try it. Darkish gravy and some chunks of stewed veggies. The rest of us had a grouper in a pasty crust with some crabmeat stuffed in there, too. Crust was good, fish was ok, but crabmeat was more like hot crab salad. Not great. Veggies---dry, not too cheesy shredded au gratin potatoes in a casserole style square. I enjoyed this, but no one else did. Steamed carrot strips. Not one hint of seasoning, not even salt. And...hot purple pickled cabbage. I guess the roots of this restaurant are German, because the food certainly reminded me of it. Wintery. Heavy. House made flan was ok. The best part...$6 charge for shared plates, so each person got veggies. I would not go back, based on the food. Service was good. Well, there were only 3 tables occupied the entire time we were there, and our reservation was at 8:00. Go figure.

A wonderful delicate restaurant. The black tulip is a dimly lit small town restaurant where the host, daniel is very accomidating and friendly. I would reccommend the house dessing (one of the best I have ever tasted). My main course was red snapper oscar. As fresh as I have ever tasted. The piece was extremely large, cooked to a perfect tenderness. Wonderful. When I come back to cocoa, this will be my dinner spot.

The Black Tulip has superb duck. Entrees come with dinner salads and side dishes. For food of this high quality the prices are very reasonable and the portions are generous. The deserts are nothing special. Black Tulip is worth the trip to Cocoa Village from anywhere in the Space Coast.

Excellent food, excellent service, reasonably priced. We were there a couple of days ago for dinner. While the restaurant was empty (due to a show across the street) the ambiance was great. Steak cooked to perfection, chicken crease done perfectly Highly recommend this restaurant!

Hearing from Tanya helped. Yes, we would still give this another try. But at the time, had to be honest, as I always will. Tanya, Appreciate the response!

My Cobia and sides were fantastic! Lovely renovation, great service. I want to come back and sit on the pretty patio around the herb garden.

We were looking for a nice place for dinner on the 4th of July with another couple & found The Black Tulip. We made reservations & we're actually greeted warmly by the owner, Tanya who showed us to our table. The atmosphere was casual but classy! The bar area was really pretty & plenty of seating. We ordered the Caprese appetizer, def add the shrimp, it was done perfect! We also had the special, grilled salmon w a wonderful citrus glaze, and there were a few choices on how you'd like it prepared. The Chicken Caprese was delicious and the Surf n'Turf was done to perfection! Our server, Chad was very, polite, pleasant & attentive! Excellent knowledge of the menu! The desserts, key lime pie & flan were the perfect finish! But, I have to give major kudos to Tanya! My shoe broke & we tried to fix it to no avail! The shops were all closed & the fireworks were starting. She then said, no worries & gave me a pair of her flip flops to get me thru the nite! I couldn't believe how she went above & beyond to do this! So nice! I highly recommend checking out this little gem in Historic Cocoa Village

"Fine dining" at its worst. What should have been a forewarning of the night began with the entire restaurant seemingly closed. We (party of four) made up the entirety of the guests. Our waitress seemed to have limited experience at BT and her ability to wait our table was horrendous. I would like to say the food made up for it... But that would be a lie. (2 stars for the rum and coke being on the strong side). In short: -Drinks: pricey but good. Waitress ended up having me open the bottle of wine as she couldn't manage. -Food: spicy chicken: the alfredo sauce was great. The chicken tasted like it was cooked in a boiling pot of water. Tasteless. "chef's special": I guess the special part was that even though it was the waitress' suggestion, she still managed to bring out the wrong dish. My date then just sat as the remaining party had their food. Generally, this blow is softened by a complimentary drink--in this case it was not.

First and last visit to this establishment. Started with undercooked crab cake appetizer and went downhill from there. My friend had seared tuna that was more cooked than seared while I had parmesan roasted shrimp that would also have been better less roasted. We decided to have dessert since I am a sucker for key lime pie--- barely had any flavor at all. But the kicker was my friend's carrot cake which was like a brick and completely inedible. Awful food and very overpriced.

Once seated, the waiter did not come by for 10 minutes. He took our drink and food order at the same time. It was another 30-35 minutes before our meal arrived. The entire 30-35 minutes we were waiting the waiter did not check on us once. The table next to us was seated after us, ordered, and received their meals before us. He also brought them refills and quickly delivered a new salad when they complained about the first one that was brought out. Basically the waiter ignored us. For the first time ever, we had just put a $5 on the table to cover the drinks and were about to leave when the waiter came around the corner with our food, which was cold.

If you're going to the Black Tulip because you remember it being a nice restaurant in the past...then please don't. Because it really isn't anymore. At all. We recently went with a group of 7 around 5:30ish on a week day. I know that's early for dinner, but the majority of our party were older folks. Our server was very nice and she did a fine job. But the food.... yeesh. We started out with a couple of appetizers to share at the table. We had their portabella mushroom stuffed with crab, some type of chese, and asparagus. It just didn't have much flavor and the filling was watery. It was edible, but that's about all I can say for it. The escargot was a little more enjoyable, but it just mostly tasted of garlic and nothing else. Perhaps they think diners just really want the taste of snails to be masked so they load it up with garlic. I don't know. Again, edible but very "meh". (I will say that the warm rolls they kept bringing us were quite good and the compound butter served with them was pretty tasty) My father-in-law got a bowl of their lobster bisque. It was the most odd tasting version of lobster bisque I've ever tried. It was more like a tomato-based chowder that had virtually no creaminess or richness to it. I'd thought about ordering a bowl myself but I was very glad I didn't. Entrees didn't really improve too much, IMO. I tried their snapper served in puff pastry with some type of dijon/tarragon cream sauce. While the fish & sauce were just OK, the rest of the plate was laughable. The vegetables that accompanied ALL of the entrees were blanched green beans, slightly cooked carrot sticks, and a few slices of new potatoes that had virtually no flavor. No imagination/creativity WHATSOEVER in them. Something you'd expect to be served at a cafeteria, to be honest. Everything was edible. But that is all I can say for it. It's a real shame because the restaurant is in a great location. But I feel the kitchen is being very lazy and relying on the place's past recognition to sustain them. This type of food certainly won't sustain them into the future. Not a chance.

Took the family here for New Year's Eve. Food was terrible, service was average and the price was over the top. Fish had a fishy, off taste, veal came out un cooked and crab meat tasted bad. Guaranteed I will never be back here again....... what a waste of time and more importantly, money.

Certainly one of the best restaurants in the Space Coast area. Lovey little place. Very nice interior with lovely decorations. White tablecloths. Nice place to dress up a little bit, have some dinner, and then walk down the main street in the cute downtown of Cocoa, FL. Lot's of little shops and galleries with trees lit with little white lights. Very classy place to eat. I had the grouper stuffed with crabmeat in a pastry shell, while my partner had the broiled shrimp topped with crabmeat. Both were topped by a lovely reduction cream sauce. The pastry shell was cooked to pefection with lovely morsels of grouper. Very, very tasty. Broiled shrimp cooked nicely and the crab meat topping accompanied well. Had some nice glasses of white house wine which were really very, very good. Entree prices in the $18-$26 range. Just a very nice experience for finer dining in the area. Recommended for sure!

*BREVARDS BEST* This is one of the best restaurants in the area. The food is fantastic...it ranks with the top spots I have eaten at in San Francisco. I love to get dressed up...(cocktail dress) and go for a fancy dinner. Then after dinner, you can stroll around Historical Cocoa. There are tons of great little shops.

I am from Washington, DC and am accustomed to lots of organic and vegetation options so I was thrilled to find this place. I had a great, well prepared meal. My non-vegetarian parents were with me and also had plenty of choices. A real good find in an area not known for responsible (veggie and organic) dining.
