I'm surprised by the negative reviews based on my experience 21 Dec around 6pm. Our visit was timed to precede Sinbad's show at the Capitol Theatre across the street and when we arrived there was only one other occupied table. About 30 minutes later other theater goers started arriving and I heard the servers asking each table if they were going to the show and were on a time clock. I thought that was a nice gesture. It took a minute for us to be greeted and seated. The server brought us water, bread and olive oil, which were replenished. The drinks were delicious and reasonably priced. Our order was taken promptly and the food delivered in an acceptable amount of time. We shared a perfectly prepared Cesar salad; the best pizza I've had in Pinellas County; and a superb lemoncello cake. George, the manager, visited our table multiple times throughout the dinner. He was genial and made us feel very welcome. This is an attractive restaurant with a small bar in the back with several TV screens. We thought the food and service was outstanding and will definitely return.

Stopped by Tonys today for a meatball parm hero and sausage and peppers hero. Big disappointment thanks for sparing a few meatballs with stale fries and a couple of sausage scraps in bread. Never going back

I absolutely love their pizza here. Great atmosphere and I am a huge fan of thin crust pizza so this is why I love it. Plus I can walk here :)

I'm just going to say this first, I am not easily moved to leave a negative review. I'm usually very forgiving. But this place has seriously crossed the line. Here's the deal, I ordered food from here about 4 times now and each time I have been incredibly disappointed. I am currently suffering from food poisoning from eating their Alfredo. Amazingly, this isn't even the first time I've been left feeling ill after a meal either. 1) The food is poorly cooked and prepped. 2) The service is slow and can, at times, be very rude. 3) The seats are uncomfortable and the vibe is that of an outdated, beat up, financially failing dive. 4) Last but DEFINITELY not least. The take away can leave you with a debilitating headache, nausea, and if you are particularly unlucky hanging over a toilet, up chucking a $15 meal. Personally I'm so pissed at this place, I wish restaurant impossible or Ramsey would jump in and tell the owner and chef what's what. I wouldn't be surprised if I took a look in their kitchen and found it filthy because they obviously don't even care about not making their patrons sick, let alone treating them nicely. I'm NEVER setting foot here again. To Tony's: You have thoroughly earned this 1 star and if it were possible I'd give you none. TLDR: Got food poisoning after eating here, it's bad food, bad service, and overpriced. Don't waste your time, money or health.

My friend and I stopped by last Thursday, before the Roberta Flack concert, to grab a bite to eat. before eating here, we were unfamiliar with them as I rarely venture to Clearwater, with the exception of fishing /or the beach, and only occassionally, for concerts. The exterior is warm and inviting, with some outdoor seating ala sidewalk cafe, and inviting signage. Inside...well, that's another story. The inside is rather bare bones, with a couple of oddly placed prints, adorning the walls, and a bar in the back (with a few rather loud, inebruated individuals. The greeter sat us rather quickly, handing us each a menu, and scooted away. Now, regarding this, let me elaborate. My dining partner is blind, and uses a standard white cane with a red tip, so it's faily obvious. Why is it that restaurants are not training their employees regarding disabled people? I can not tell you how many times people try to hand her a menu, etc and this was no exception. Even when explaining that we only needed a single menu, I was met with a confused look until I reitterated that she is blind, and can not see said menu. Of course, no mention/offer of a braile menu was made. The menu offered a variety of dishes and pizza, but offered no reduced portions (lunch/or senior), which I found to be odd. I also found it odd that the meals were not accompanied by a salad, of some sort. This has to be the first Italian eaterie I have ever been to, in my 48 years, that did not offer a salad with their entrees. While we waited for our meal, a small loaf of italian bread with a plate of olive oil was brought to our table. The bread was still warm (a plus) and the oil tasted pretty good. The food arrived about 20 minutes later. My friend opted for the ravioli in meat sauce, while I chose the pepperoni calzone. My friend's ravioli looked fairly appetizing, served in medium sized shallow bowl, with chopped parsley along the bowl's rim. The filling was pretty tastey, and the sauce had a slight sweetness to it, but was a bit one dimensional. The calzone....well, it was pretty small; about the size of a pan pizza. Plenty of cheese and pepperoni, but definitely the smallest calzone I have ever eaten, and just didn't offer "bang for the buck", in my opinion. The waiter was attentive, and kept our drinks refilled, etc and was a pleasant enough gentleman. Now, the biggest complaint(s)... First, the layout was a nightmare to wade through, even for a sighted person. As I mentioned, my friend is blind, and I am a disabled vet, with a hip and knee injury, so it is difficult for us to fit through small, narrow, winding walkways, etc. We had to weave between tables to navigate to the restrooms, as the tables are jammed directly in the walking area (in order to fit more people, is my guess). It was almost impossible to get her through that maze without her running into something/someone. Definitely NOT wheelchair friendly! If you are in a wheelchair, use a walker, are pretty much have any kind of physical limitation, you should avoid this place. Secondly (and this ticked me off, greatly), our table was cleared, before we were finished. While I was escorting my friend through the aforementioned maze, and in spite of the fact we left personal property at the table, and in spite of the fact that she had only eaten a half of her dinner, someone saw fit to remove our plates, and silverware, yet, for some reason, left our drinks... When we returned, the greeter apologized and stated she was told by the waiter to clear the table. My friend was offered a dessert, which she refused as she wanted food, not sweets, and unfortunately, we did not have anymore time to wait for a replacement order. The best part (sarcasm) was that we were not even offered a percentage off of our ticket...nothing. So in essence, we paid about $26 (not including a tip) for a tiny calzone and half a plate of ravioli (and a glass of water and a glass of soda). It is confusing as to what Tony's was going after: casual dining or upscale. Their prices are a bit high for a casual establishment, yet their aesthetics and service is too lacking for an upscale place, and definitely does not warrant the price. All in all, rather disappointed in the entire experience, and do not see myself returning nor recommending this place to my friends.... and, seriously, if you have a disability, avoid this place, it will just be a frustrating nightmare for you. You are better off going to Olive Garden...the food tastes about the same, the portions are bigger, and they are more disabled-friendly.

I work close to here... So I order out from here a lot.. I send people here all the time...the last few months the food has gone down hill. I spent 8.01 on a sandwich with fries got 10 fries and a small sub. Sorry to say this will be the last time I eat here even if the food is good.

I like this place! Quaint. Good food. Staff is friendly. Great location in relation to Winter's Tale Dolphin Adventure. The fam and I walked over here from there. Do yourself a favor and eat here instead of at Winter's Tale. Also, if you take the trolley to the actual aquarium--don't eat there either it's outside whereas you'll be in the AC if you eat here. Just saying.

Tony's had good food and good prices. There is a nice menu with pizza, but also with a good assortment of Italian dishes. The prices are quite reasonable. The place itself is large, but is nothing to look at inside. Nothing really in the way of atmosphere. Of course, Tonys is in downtown Clearwater. There is not much downtown other than Dolphin Tale Adventure and the Capitol Theater. This is a good place to eat if you are downtown for either of these attractions.

This place gets 5 starts for the hospitality and the value. My Greek salad was mainly iceberg lettuce, that I don't like however it was crisp and super fresh. The lemon based dressing was a very good match for it. My Saltimbocca had the sauce a bit runny; however the flavor of the sauce and the dish is authentic Roman. Enough Fontina cheese without overpowering the dish where you can smell and taste the sage and the rest of the dish.. Everything was very well balanced and the side of spaghetti in top of the baby spinach makes this a 5 stars and superb value. Service in my case was pretty attentive and they were very gracious. I ordered from the dinner menu even though was lunch and the server went into the kitchen and spoke to the sous chef I think. Few minutes after, I was told they will accommodate me with whatever I wanted. Finished it off with a Danesi Caffé outdoors and I was in Ostia for few moments.. Grazie Tony

Several co-workers and I went there for lunch one day the food was good but the service was lousy. The waitress never re-filled our drinks once and she was really bad about getting our bills settled in a timely fashion.

They get a star for being open. Nothing to see here... move along. This was horrid. Salad arrived without dressing. Appetizer of calamari was mediocre. We were then served breaded eggplant skin as our dinner. I would not waste my time on a place that would serve something like that to a customer.

I'm not sure why all the negative reviews. The food here is delish and they have a full liquor bar in the back you can sit at, what's not to like! Great service, entertaining bartender, one of the few spots in downtown that you can really hang out at.

2nd best pizza I have had in Clearwater after trying 15 places. crust is just the right thickness and easy to pull apart. they put a good amount of cheese on it and pepperoni and sauce are good. was good even though I got it from the counter and didn't order a whole pie.

Steer clear of this place- the owners are nuts! We just went to try to get an early dinner. We ordered chicken Parmesan and a steak and cheese sub. After ordering we were informed that the only way we could have a steak and cheese sub was to either sit outside or at a bar table. We were the only people in the restaurant and the owner absolutely refused to let us sit at the table we were at and moved us to a high top in the bar area. After relocating, we decided we did not want to eat in a place that was extremely unaccomodating to their only customers in the place.

Terrible. Absolutely terrible. We waited almost 45 minutes for 1 pizza to arrive at our table. When we walked in we started looking at the menu and this short woman with brown hair walked up and said are you eating here or taking to go? We said here, she said well then go sit down with an attitude. She then proceeded to glare at me for about 15 minutes. We didn't leave because my guy was on his lunch break. Again it took way too long for us to receive our food and he ended up being late coming back from lunch. Not to mention they were playing terrible Spanish Christian music that was so loud I couldn't hear myself think.

Great service, great food! There are 2 parts to this restaurant. On one side you have the quick slices and sandwiches that you can order and be on your way. On the other side, you have the sit-down eating area. I've never had a menu item I didn't like. I prefer their pizza and most often order that. The white pizza is unique and very tasty, yet light as far as pizza goes. The space is large so you don't feel cramped in with other people.

We stopped at Tony's for lunch on Black Friday. The restaurant was not that busy for a lunch and there were two waitresses on. We told the waitress we were on a time crunch and ordered a large half-pepperoni pizza, a tuna salad, and a cheese steak. The food took 35 minutes to come out. We were told that it was because the oven was "busy". Meanwhile the tables around us that came in after us got there food quickly. Then to compound matters, the waitress was not very helpful. I asked for the check, which took a while, and she added the gratuity to it knowing how unhappy we were (there were 7 of us). To top it off, I paid cash and when asked if I needed change, I said yes. 10 minutes later I walked back to the server stand to get my change, she informed me that she did not have change on her and I had to follow her to the register to get my change. It came across to me that she was hoping I would let her keep the extra tip. If we were not already late, I would have had the tip removed from the check. I would not recommend this place to anyone, as the food was ok at best and the service was slow and rude.

Simply put: terrible pizza. They don' t know how to cook a proper crust. Its like eating cardboard. I've eaten here 3 times over the years out of desperation, and I just won't be fooled again. Dominos is better, seriously.

Hot, muggy afternoons on " Farmers Market " day make Tony's an oasis. I try to get a seat outside for the Vegetarian Pizza and a cold beer to cool off. Tony's gives me the added boost to enable me to continue with my weeks produce shopping. Wonderful pizza and bravo to Tony's.

Service without a smile and having to ask the cashier - twice - to heat your slice. Not sure what was going on, but our experience was far below what others have reported.

Been here a few times when I'm in the area, the pizza is a deal and is delicious! The best NY style I've ever had, not greasy and a perfect crust! 2 slices and a soda $4.99 anytime. My girlfriend had a Greek Chicken salad and it was delicious, the grilled chicken was amazing! If you're even considering it DO IT! You won't regret it!

Good food, great people! The staff are wonderful and put effort into remembering you, it's quite nice. I've only ever had pizza and garlic knots there, but they are always good!

I've never had a waiter check if I needed anything so often. Either he developed an instant crush on me, or I actually was the most special customer ever. If everyone gets this kind of service, I'm impressed. I really didn't like having the TV fill my vision while I ate. I don't see the connection that all restaurants seem to be making between TV and eating. I prefer quiet. They need to work on their ambiance, but the food is great.

Very inconsistent. Sometimes it's pretty good and others it's awful. It is a little on the dirty side and the service is weak. There are two good pizza places within a mile, Bro's and Christino's.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
