I've been shopping at Plateroti for 30 years. In the old days Rudy and his son Sal ran the place. Sal's Mother made my eldest sister's wedding cake. These days Sal is the man in charge and he carries on the tradition of his parents. Their double-zero flour is the only thing I use for my hand crafted pasta. They've got great olives, bread, cheese, Taralli and authentic Italian desserts like Paneforte. Seriously. . . if you are looking for the finest Italian specialty foods and wines, run by the nicest and most caring family in town, Plateroti is the place for you.

Sal is a very caring guy and provides very high quality Italian products. He really cares about his Italian heritage. If he's not too busy, you can get Italian sub sandwiches which are the best I've ever found in Clearwater.

What a cool little store tucked away in a small plaza on Gulf to Bay. I've driven by it countless times over the years and never noticed it before. It finally caught my eye so I had to stop in check it out. As many small ethnic grocers as there are in the area, I don't recall any being more packed with various products than Plateroti. They carry most every possible thing one could need for authentic Italian cooking. Friendly & helpful staff, too, and he gave me some recommendations I've added to my shopping list for my next visit. If you love to cook, you need to check it out.

This place been here like 100 years, lol.... The old man turned over this place to his son, and the son is a cool guy! The products are imported Italian. They have good cheeses and martadella!!!

Great Italian Imports ! Have you tried the Unfiltered Extra Virgin Olive Oil yet ? When near, I stop in to buy something and don't forget the sfoigiatelle. The wonderful aromas within will have you returning again and again.

An amazing little deli. On some days they make Stomboli to sell throughout the day (Only on Friday if I recall), amazing little place with wonderful staff and products. Try the Espresso soda. You won't regret it. Private lot in the back for parking if there's no spots in front of the store itself.

Plateroti Italian Gourmet has been a Clearwater stalwart for the last 38 years. It was originally started by Rudy and Jean Plateroti and their son Sal in July of 1976 and has kept the same small, cramped strip mall storefront ever since. In September of 2007 Rudy passed away and his son Sal took over completely. I first wound up at Plateroti about five years ago because I had heard about their sandwiches. On that visit I walked in and immediately felt like I had been transported to Italy (or what I imagine Italy to be). I found that they didn't make sandwiches anymore (or at least it was something they kept on the down low) but I quickly got over my disappointment when Sal told me a story about olive oil and how the versions you get in grocery stores are, a lot of the time, oiled down with oils other than just olive. He was very passionate about the "scandal" and the olive oils that they had in house. He was especially eager to share the San Guillliano Unfiltered Extra Virgin Olive Oil they sell and, to convince us, he gave us a shot. You could immediately see (and taste) the difference. I was sold. I bought one. I also was sold on their imported olive oil (which was more for cooking) so I bought a huge tin of that. Sal gave us a discount on the two olive oils and we went away happy. Since then, we've returned five times just to buy olive oil. It is a long drive from Tampa but it seems well worth it to get quality oil from an independent shop that cares about their products. I have purchased fresh baked bread here on a couple occasions, bought a house made veggie stromboli once (yummy!) and invested in some interesting Italian desserts and pastas. But the one constant was the olive oil. Other items that Plateroti sells are various balsamic vinegars, imported cheeses, cold cuts, olives, antipasto, Italian spices, specially made Italian sweet and hot sausage links, handmade fresh mozzarella, hand prepared spaghetti sauce, manicotti, lasagna, meatballs and Italian desserts (cookies, biscotti, candies, and sweets). They have also brought back the sandwiches (although the only make them on Fridays and Saturdays). If you love to cook and/or eat Italian food then you need to check this shop out. If not for anything else, make it a point to go here for some real olive oil.

This is a deli, not a restaurant. (I found it when looking up restaurants) However! it is a great little gem. It's in a tiny strip mall across from the Floridian Motel. Get the Olive Oil - like a couple others have suggested. I'm going to have it shipped to me. I can't even imagine having any other olive oil after trying that. Also - they have pre-made, homemade Italian food that you can take to your hotel and heat up. We had a vegetable dish and a salad made from lettuce (grocery store) and his Olive Oil and a grinder of herbs/spices that he recommended. We also purchased a bottle of white wine. We brought it back to our hotel and heated up the food and made the salad. It was simple and easy. Our most frequent comment during our meal was "I can't believe how good this is!" Highly, highly recommended. I'm so glad that he ships the olive oil, because - really - I can't believe that it was so good that it's the only olive oil I ever want to eat. Enjoy!!!

Nice family-run Italian deli featuring standard Italian imported foods. - Great prices - Great fresh bread (baked to order). - Good selection of cured meats, cheeses and pastas. I bought large frozen cheese ravioli and they were excellent. - Parking street-side is challenging, but they have a lot 'round back.
