Nice, clean diner with a modern interior and a huge menu. Dad and I stopped in late, around 3:00, for a late lunch. We were greeted and seated by Dan who was also our server. Dad had an espresso which he said was one of the best he's had in Clearwater. He had a salad with blackened chicken and I ordered the lunch special which was supposed to be 1/2 a sandwich with soup, but they brought me the whole sandwich (grilled cheese). The soup had tons of noodles, chicken and veggies in a nice flavorful broth. The grilled cheese was simple and basic but butter, toasty and cheesy as it should be. We were going to order dessert but they were out of our first pick so we decided to let the carb fairies have their way this time! Dan was personable, attentive, funny and friendly. All in all a great diner-like experience. Next time I'll likely try their breakfast. Oh - the menu indicated free wifi but my phone was on its last bit of battery so ddidn't have a chance to do much more than check in. I will update with pix next time!

This is your average breakfast / lunch spot in a strip mall. The place has been there for many years and looks to be still owned by the same English family They're very nice people, the food is average, if you would like typical bacon and eggs French toast or pancakes it's a good place to go to, nothing out of the ordinary or special about any of it just regular food. They definitely have a regular crowd of senior citizens that come and go there, the service is not extremely fast, but it's not poor neither. But if you're looking for a good cup of robust coffee this would not be the place as one creamer in the cup makes it light. They do a nice job on the toast with the correct color and the right amount of butter making the consistency very good if you like buttered toast with your breakfast, they'll offer all sorts of bread from wheat to rye to white . The only annoying experience is their front door, it has a problem Slamming, if you sit anywhere near that every time someone comes in the door makes a loud bang which we would recommend the owners take care of as it's very annoying and sometimes for some people scary.

Went to my rescheduled Physical Therapy and found out I was 2 hours early, asked for a b'fast recommendation and found myself at McCabe's! Decided on an egg white Greek Omelette w Hash Browns & Rye toast. Sometimes, it's all about the actual preparation, especially breakfast foods. My omelette, a mainstay on most local menus here, was prepared nicely, a bit past medium with a slightly sharp Feta. Great taste. The hash browns were simple with nothing added, and needed a bit Cholula & Heinz ketchup to ramp it up a bit. Samantha was my server, very nice and attentive. Again, the entree shined! I'll remember McCabe's as another B'fast personal choice.

Enough said: abcactionnews.com/money/… I'm sure Yelp will remove this post. They did before. Seems odd that Yelp removes negative posts.

Had breakfast while in the area for a Dr apt. Food was a c- at best. Dishes were dirty and never got a coffee refill, and service was invisible.

I have been to McCabes on 4 different occasions. .....breakfast, lunch, dinner. I sincerely wish I could give them even 3 stars. That's stretching it pretty far. Three out of the 4 visits were in their original spot, closer to Publix. Well, after it opened facing Gulf to Bay, we prayed the dinner would be OK. Silly us. We live 2 miles away...how convenient or so we thought. Green Beans were canned. Seriously? I can open a can of beans at home. I ordered Meat Loaf with the usual sides. Can't remember what husband ordered but I can honestly say that I left it after taking a few bites. Now this visit was over a year ago so maybe they have a good chef? No Way No How will I try to eat another meal. oh yes, when we ate at the old restaurant near Publix, we both ordered breakfast. It wasn't mind blowing super good. It was OK. Maybe they should cut down on serving 3 meals a day. Too much to prepare fresh meals......not from scratch, for sure.

The food was average and their Chicken gyro didnt have enough tomatoes. The coleslaw was not creamy, too much pepper on it.

Stay away. Food average at best. Service ? What service? Kids were running the place and more interested in visiting with friends than taking care of customers. Toast came out 1/2 way through breakfast. Come on it is breakfast, not that hard to figure out. Credit card machine was down with no backup plan on how to handle customers.

Ate here with some friends after a long run and I was HUNGRY!!! I ordered an omlette which came with home fries and choice of toast or a biscuit- I chose the biscuit.. And coffee of course! The omlette was big and delicious, home fries were yummy and the biscuit was okay- I have had better. Coffee was good- waitress came around often offering refills which is a very good thing. My bills was about $10 which is reasonable. No wait- quick service- good food. I would come again!

Service was fast but unfriendly. They seated me immediately and took my order. I asked if they had any breakfast specials and she pointed to a far away dryerase board that was barely legible(the board disappeared after a little while??)...I ordered the eggs, bacon, homefries and toast special with a side of sausage links. I asked the waitress if I could substitute the homefries for a small cup of fruit and she said no. The the food arrived and the eggs wer overcooked but tasted ok. The bacon was thin which seems to be the trend in breakfast joints but it tasted like it had been fried in very old oil. The homefries were plain but the taste was acceptable. The sausage links were flavorless and had the consistency of a turkey link even though they weren't, plus they were rather cold inside as if they were not cooked enough from frozen. The bill was double of the special price with the coffee and links costing as much as the breakfast special itself. Its a good location but they really need to address the food, service and pricing issues.

Been here to eat a few times. Younger wait-staff. Marginally good food reasonably priced. Very convenient location to shopping. Publix shopping center Gulf to Bay & Belcher.

The best breakfast in town. The food is very consistent every time you go in. The service is also good, friendly and attentive even when they are busy. Good value especially for the specials.

Restaurant was clean & had a lot of seating & the servers were quick & friendly. I had the souvlaki (sp?) platter and thought it was really good. The serving size was enough for dinner tonight & lunch tomorrow. Hubby had the Chicken Marsalis but it was more like Homestead Chicken with Mushroom Gravy, it honestly looked like a tv dinner. I think they'd do well to narrow down the menu & stick with what they do well.

One of the better breakfast spots around. One of the things I like best about McCabe's is that it is very clean. The food and service are consistently good. Every once in a while you end up with a server having a bad day but that is not the norm. They also serve lunch and dinner, I have only tried them for dinner once and I was pleased. Good diner food and i can honestly say that I have never left there disappointed. It is also kid friendly. For those of you that would rather play on you smart phone, table or other electronic device instead of interacting with those that you are dinning with they do have free WiFi you just have to ask your server for the password. If you are in the Clearwater area give them a try.

McCabe's is Ok, but not particularly great. The food is passable, but sometimes the service is lacking. Last time I was in there, I told the waitress we had limited time, and I wanted plenty of coffee. I was nice about it, but gotta have my morning joe. I had to flag down busboys, hostesses, and the waitresses just to get a refill--coffee shops need to keep your cup filled. I am not a dick, but getting a second cup of coffee shouldn't be a big deal. The food is hit and miss--sometimes it seems the stuff like bacon has been sitting around for a while. The price is right, and most of the time it's good, but it's far from perfect.

If you're looking for great diner style fare and breakfast in Clearwater then look no further. McCabe's is a great little spot with good prices, good service, great breakfast and excellent ownership. For me the main judgement of a good diner is the quality of their coffee, and theirs is wonderful. You will never be waiting on another cup either as someone will be by every few minutes to keep your cup full. My husband also needed breakfast catering for a client recently and McCabe's gave him a great price for catering and delivered at no extra charge. He was very pleased. Brian McCabe is a true irishman and you will likely meet him when he stops by your table to fill up your coffee. He takes pride in his diner and greets every customer with a smile and if you're lucky a joke or two. We used to frequently visit First Watch and Lenny's but the great service here has made us loyal regulars.

Eat here a bunch. Nice little breakfast place.

You can't go wrong for breakfast at McCabe's. It's quick and tasty and they have good sized portions for hungry runners. I tend to get the standard eggs, toast, and bacon but I've tried the pancakes and they are quite good.

Been coming here for years. Staff doesn't change much and the owner is from Ireland so their Rubens and corn beef is great.

I stopped in and decided to try it. It was awesome food, the staff was very nice and attentive. I don't understand why this place isn't packed more. Reasonable prices, reasonable portions, good atmosphere and good service. If your in the area folks stop and try it!

I tried this place a couple times, I was not impressed the first time but I usually give anyplace a second try just in case they were having a bad day. for my money I felt their food ingrediants were very low quality, the place seemed like it badly needs a freshening up, its dingy, not too clean and just plain dull in appearance? the service was not all that wonderful either from where I sat. seemed like it takes an act of congress to get refills or a wait staff to check back in on you. I realize they can be busy at times but if the waitress cannot handle their section possibly as a suggestion management should enlist the busboys to help with refills, etc....I just didn't feel like returning again due to the cleanliness, poor quality food and less than steller service. the waitress' make you feel like they are doing you a favor by taking your order in the first place and then you may not see them again until half way finsihed??

Went in for lunch last week. Walked in and stood at the front of the restaurant for a hot minute with no employees in sight. Finally a voice yelled from somewhere in the back to 'Sit wherever you want'. Waited another few minutes and a frumpy, spiky headed server appeared, looking annoyed and asked what I wanted. I jokingly asked for a coffee, a menu and some silverware, not necessarily in that order. This was met with a dirty look and she walked away. She came back quickly with my coffee and a menu and I ordered the open face turkey, a dinner staple and my go to in a new joint. The food was dropped off without a word and I never got the cranberry sauce I asked for or a single coffee refill. I finally managed to get my check from the bussgirl, left my money on the table and walked out. Good food, but the terrible service will make this a first and last visit.
