If you are looking for good thin crust, the NY style pizza pie at Grimaldi's is it. They have a tasty variety of toppings that are beyond boring! I'm talking the normal stuff yes but also artichoke hearts, ricotta, fresh basil and garlic and much more. A "personal pan" is much lighter than you'd expect but because the crust is so thin you don't fill up on bread. They have a full bar. Offer dinning inside or out. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Tanner does make a good cappuccino!

Once again nailed the pizza pretty good. Taste was great but they are wayt too thin on the toppings. We ordered a large pepperoni and large sausage. Both had excellent flavor and crust but both lacked a fair amount of the toppings. It's a good example of York style pizza with a crunchy crust and cooked just right consistently across the pie. However, the crust is thin, it is new York style so thin is expected but this is cracker thin. The toppings are sparse and it is definitely not described as loaded. There was also not that much mozzarella either. That can be good and bad depending what type of pizza you are looking for, stuffed to capacity or the lighter side. For the cost of their pizza, they need to increase the amount of toppings!! The service was spectacular - our waiter was fast courteous and stopped by frequently to check on us. This was great since this was the lunch rush - he was fantastic!!!

I'm a hardcore pizza snob and I love Grimaldi's. Before choosing to eat here, one should know this is coal-fired-oven pizza and is still a bit new and unique for our Florida taste buds. The pizza comes out slightly burnt and well done in some spots on the crust. Overall, this results in a really great and crispy texture. You either love "well done" pizza or you do not. Fair warning... To me, Grimaldi's uses the BEST pepperoni ever! As a rabid home cook and pizza maker, I wish I knew their source! This IS the Mall and at peak dining times, expect a long wait and slower service than you would prefer. I often find myself craving a well-done Grimaldi's pepperoni pizza. However I will control myself and wait until non-peak dining hours when things are less chaotic!

Black and white photos on the wall, wine bottle chandeliers, and checkered red and white tablecloths give this place a charming atmosphere. The menu is pretty simple, pick your pizza size, regular or white with garlic, and from there you get charged per topping. We chose half cheese, and half pepperoni and sausage. The waitress struggled with the beer menu, so I just went with a Peroni. We had salad while we waited, it wasn't bad, but there's also nothing special I can say about it. The pizza arrived, and I have to say it was pretty good. Nice crispy crust, large, fresh tasting toppings, and delicious garlic. Everyone enjoyed their slices, and we all agreed it was better than average. The waitress was hard to flag down, and the most personality she showed all evening was putting smiley faces on our checks. This is a 3.5 for me, but I round up, because I'm kind or something.

The ambience is great, the food is great and the dessert melts in your mouth. I receive a birthday coupon from Grimaldi's every year for a discount off my meal. Grimaldi's at Countryside is the best and if you go ask for Nicole... she is the best! Take a look at the pictures to see the delicious treats...yum!

It's hard to dispute the taste and quality of the food. My experience between two visits was very similar - great pizza, fresh salad, very poor service (15 min intervals between the server coming to the table), and high prices. Toppings are all a la carte, starting at $2 and going to $5 per item, even if you elect to only top half the pizza with the given item (no discount is given for half the consumption, and the cost is the same whether you are trying to cover a 9" personal pie or an 18"). There are other nearby alternatives where the food is as good for much more of a reasonable price. I understand they are a mall tenant and have more overhead to cover, but at those rates they should provide better service The place was pretty empty on a Wednesday night, and its not hard to understand why - I'm not planning on returning.

Grimaldi's pizza is pretty solid, the crust is great and all the ingredients appear to be fresh and reasonably American Italian-Brooklyn authentic. I like the look of the interior, it's full of NY old photos and has some crazy wine bottle light fixtures. Add a little garlic and shaky cheese and this pie will cure your hunger for sure!

This is classic brick oven pizza. No soggy slices here. The pizza is more expensive as are the toppings but they are so big you can easily share. The crust is crispy and flavorful and the toppings are spaced out so it doesn't sag. It might take a bit to get your pizza as the oven can only fit so many, so if it's busy get an app or salad to munch on. The decor is old New York style pizzeria with white and red checkered tablecloths. The tables are spaced out and not crowded like some restaurants. The walls are doted with old black and white pictures. I've seen the wine bottle chandeliers at other places but I still think they are cool. Kids are welcome and are even given crayons. The parking sucks. There not much more to say unless you want to use the FREE valet in which case parking is easy. This location is in the mall so you could be driving in circles for a little while looking for a space. If you use the valet, tip at least $1-2 because their job probably doesn't pay well.

I really love pizza and I'm sorry to say it but I was not crazy about the pizza here. I usually also eat the crust but it tasted a little on the burnt side. I don't know if it was left too long, but I was just not floored. I have eaten brick oven pizza before, but this one is just not on par. On another note, we sat at the bar area and the bartender was attentive and served us nice cold beers- Blue moon & Sam adams Black lager. We were tempted to get the dessert trio (tiramisu, cheesecake and some other delicious looking one) but were too full. The decoration (cut wine bottle light fixtures) was nice !! Don't think I will be coming back and don't want to pay this much for this somewhat burnt brick oven pizza. But never say never. Perhaps this was just an off day.

I enjoyed their triple sec and simple syrup infused sangria. Ralph also enjoyed his Sam Adams cold snap with a few accidental drops of Blue Moon one next to it. Thanks for those, CJ! It was not too busy for a crazy day like this hallmark themed "holiday" that is called Valentine's Day. It was nice to have a quick drink before heading back somewhere else for dinner. I have to try their pizza some day when I'm kid free with my significant other.

This was a great pitstop during a shopping trip to the mall. We ordered a custom pizza with pesto, mozzarella, ricotta, spinach and Italian sausage. It was DELICIOUS!! We started with a Caprese salad and enjoyed big tomatoes slices with huge fresh basil leaves and creamy mozzarella. I enjoyed the coal fired thin crust that they serve up, it's way better than some heavy doughy chuck of often times under-cooked pizza doughs at so many other restaurants. I would go back again :) The wait staff was friendly and attentive.

Ever since I moved to Florida, I love everything - but the pizza! I'm used to the BEST! But, I will say, Grimaldi's is pretty good. The thin crust is good, the sauce is delicious! I love that they offer not only the typical crushed red pepper and grated cheese in a shaker ...but also garlic powder to sprinkle on your pizza! The decor is simple and very New York with wine bottle chandeliers. Sign up for their specials to get a free pizza for your Birthday!

Free large pizza with 1 item for your birthday (when you sign up to receive their emails) - thanks Grimaldi's! 5 star customer service, bravo Grimaldi's. Food was a little 'off' tonight but our server more than made up for the minor issues by going above and beyond. House salad was way overdressed and just tasted like very strong vinegar to the point where I could only stomach 1/2 portion (and I love vinegar) and BF could not eat it at all. Server asked how it was and I told him our thoughts, he asked if he could provide another - given I had eaten some we said no worries, we're good. He came back a minute later and said he'd like to buy us a dessert to make up for the salad - sweet, thank you. Pizza with pepperoni was very greasy (pools of grease on pizza and grease streaks on the pan) but we still managed to eat most of it because we love Grimaldi's pizza - next time we won't order pepperoni. Server suggested the seasonal blueberry cheesecake and it was delicious - crunchy cobbler topping and fresh blueberries, great dessert! When the bill arrived he had removed the salad which we were not at all expecting and we walked out super impressed with Grimaldi's customer service. We'll be back!

Eh. Pizza sauce was bland. Overall pizza experience was underwhelming. The service was great, though. Attentive and friendly. We were a big group so it was appreciated that we were catered to as quick as we were. It's little expensive to build a pizza especially when it comes out bland. We all had to adjust the seasoning. I had a two slices of my pizza and had the remaining pizza put in a to go box. I should have checked that it was my pizza in the box. When I was home I opened it and it wasn't mine. I wasn't too disappointed since I wasn't too thrilled about it from the start. Will I return? Nope, unless it's solely for drinks.

This is pretty good thin crust pizza with a great atmosphere. The pizza we ordered was cooked perfectly, sausage and pepperoni, although not the best I've had, was still very good. Cheese is very good but the sauce could use some work. Doesn't differentiate itself from other chains. The restaurant is pretty cool. It has a rustic feeling with a huge open air bar. The service we received was quick and perfect with no mistakes. The only weird thing is that the menu is extremely limited. It's basically pizza, calzones, a few salads and dessert. That's it. No apps, no pasta. Other than that, I like it. Plus if you sign up for their little club, you get a free large pizza on your bday. Can't beat that!

  • Matt F.

it was "okay". Really does not live up to the hype. Decent service. The pizza is thin crust which I typically love but Grimaldi's is kind of soggy in the middle. Cheese was okay - toppings were average. I might try again. We will see.

  • Mike M.

Really good pizza. Love the thin crust! Service has always been good. Atmosphere is comfortable. Tables are a little close together. Like the hanging bottle lights. Prices are a little high but have been happy with the cheap-o pizzas (just cheese or only one additional item). House salads are good, sometimes the dressing can be a bit much so on the side it goes. Have lunch specials (personal pizzas for $5) If you sign up for the email club you get a free large pizza + 1 topping for your birthday. I need to start eating at the mall more often.

We had a different destination in mind tonight. The husbeast and I wanted to go to the new PF Chang's but with an Hour and a half wait, there was NO WAY that was going to happen. And since I was hell bent on a new place to try, enter Grimaldi's Pizzeria. Entering, the air was heavily scented in garlic, and that made my tummy rumble with delight. We were ushered to our seat, and were told that our waitress would be right with us, and she was. The menu was explained to us, and it was pretty simple. Everything on the pizzas and calzones was alacart, and portion sizes were generally large, so after ordering a white sangria (Not the best I've had) we settled in to a Caprese Salad and a Large Pizza with Pepperoni and fresh garlic. The Caprese salad was served quite quickly, with large slabs of fresh tomato, huge leaves of crisp basil and thick slices of mozzarella cheese. So amazingly delicious. The pizza was cooked in a coal fire oven, a traditional New York thin crust pizza that was crispy, oily and absolutely decadent when bitten into. There really is nothing like warm oil that drips down your chin while you laugh with your significant other. Prices weren't terrible, they even tempted us with dessert, as they were having a great special of 3 for $10. Unfortunately there was just no room, we were full. We will certainly be back to eat here again.

Felt like i was cheating on my hometown with that thin crust but hey- at least it was worth it! we ordered their white sauce garlic special as well as the regular pie, personal size and we still had some to take home. Very friendly staff and service was great- dinner, desert and the check all within 45 min!

The small antipasto was a little too small. But the pizza is awesome!!! We had the pesto pizza and it was fantastic. The atmosphere is very pleasant and the service was good. And the price was very reasonable. The menu is a little bit limited as they only have pizza and salad, but the next time we want pizza, I would definitely be thinking of Grimaldi's!

  • Rosie ..

We have been coming here since they opened, and as always we get burnt pizza. We usually order 2 large and one comes out perfect the other... well, lets just leave it as very very well done. We have had coal fire pizza numerous times. So we understand the extra crispy part. But PLEASE, for the love of pizza, don't send a manager to my table to tell me.."they all come out that way" when clearly we pointed out the difference between pizza #1 and #2 sitting at the table- beyond, way out it the galaxy beyond "crispy" Smh. One thing I can't stand is ignorance. Own up to it..if it's black, and burnt...it's black and burnt not crispy. Burnt is NOT the new crispy. Smh

Very good food, great service. Definitely try it out! I've been here several times since the new Cobb Theatre opened at Countryside Mall. I have to say that of all the dining choices right there by the movies this one is by far the best! The decor is really nice and romantic and they have these really cool wine bottle light fixtures. They have amazing pizza, huge salads and great service. All the toppings come a la carte. Try ricotta cheese and pepperoni. Its delish! Also a small salad is big enough to share between two people. They have a very nice wine selection and good prices. There is an outdoor bar that is nice to have a drink and enjoy the breeze. I highly recommend trying this place out if you want to do dinner and a movie.

I've generally avoided Grimaldi's because it seems like one of those "overpriced mall restaurants", but some friends wanted to meet up for lunch, so we figured why not try it out? The menu is pretty basic, lot's of pizza choices and salads which is fine. They have a special lunch menu, where personal pizza's are $5, so I went with a calzone, my girlfriend had the house salad and we split a personal pesto pizza (DELICIOUS!). We also had the tomato and mozzarella salad which was very good. Overall, the service was good and I was pretty satisfied with lunch, but it was a little more pricier than I expected.

Great food, great service, great decor! Pizza was amazing, server was lovely and I absolutely love the wine bottle lights that hang from the ceiling. I don't normally like thin crust, but this was done just right.

I was so excited to try this place. I've been wanting to go here for over a year. It's supposed to be authentic, coal fired pizza. The use water from NY to make the dough. The pizza I got was beyond burnt on one side, and there was not enough cheese to cover the whole pizza. Each slice had maybe a table spoon of cheese on it, and it was expensive as well. I was soo disappointed. What a let down. Maybe they were having an off night, but I have no intentions of ever coming back.

The wife and I chose to hit up Grimaldi's last night after our disaster at BJ's. We had gotten a beer or cocktail here previously but never eaten dinner. I was pleasantly surprised. We ordered a 16" pizza with spinach, olives, feta, and some garlic. The pizza tasted great and the service from the bar tender was awesome. Since at Grimaldi's the first time we returned and sat inside at a two top because the weather outside was poor. I would recommend staying away from a two top inside. The table is to small for a pizza, beer, and plates. The food and service were just as good it just detracted from our experience.

4 out of 5 sprouts If you have ever get the opportunity to walk across the Brooklyn Bridge- do it. Then go to Grimaldi's Pizzeria. If you ever find yourself in Clearwater, Florida- go to Grimaldi's Pizzeria. On a recent trip to Clearwater, I found myself sitting in this pizza joint and eating really good authentic New York pizza. Anyone who has lived in Florida knows that good pizza is really hard to find. They blame it on the water. I think there is truth to this. At Grimaldi's of Clearwater, they use a special filtering system to recreate the water of Brooklyn, New York. The pizza here in Florida is just as great as I remember it being in Brooklyn. And I didn't have to wait in a long line to get it. In New York City, my Mother and I walked across the Brooklyn Bridge then stood in line for about 30 minutes at Grimaldi's. Though my Mother is a local New Yorker, I talked her into visiting this famous pizzeria I have seen on the Food Network and the Travel Channel. It was great. I loved it- but it was more of a tourist attraction and an experience than just going out for a pizza. Would we ever do that again? Most likely not since you can get great pizza on every block in New York City. But it was fun. We didn't have to wait in a long line in Clearwater. I don't know if there is normally a wait but I imagine it isn't quite as much of a tourist attraction here as it is in Brooklyn. However, they made sure you don't forget that they are a New York institution. There are pictures of New York City everywhere. A nice open kitchen (similar to that in Brooklyn) and the chandeliers are wine bottles hanging from the ceiling. Cool. We started with a side salad for $6. The server told us that a small isn't so small and we could easily split it. He wasn't lying. The small was large. It was full of veggies like mushrooms, red peppers and green olives. I love salads like that are stuffed with veggies instead of just being a bowl of lettuce. I loved my salad and couldn't wait for the main dish- the pizza. We ordered a large pizza (18)- and we added fresh tomatoes and basil to make it more like a Margherita pizza. Not only do they use the special filtered water, they also use a coal oven (the same as Brooklyn.) If I didn't know any better, I would say this was a pizza shipped hot and fresh straight from Brooklyn. On the menu in Clearwater, there was an option for extra basil- when I asked for basil on the pizza we were charged $2 so that leads me to believe that it isn't a standard topping. After we added the fresh tomatoes our pizza came to $20. Most toppings were anywhere from $2-$4 so if you like a lot of toppings it can really add up. The prices are the same as the pizzeria in Brooklyn- but everything in New York is expensive- so for Florida- this was a very expensive pizza. (According to the Big Mac index, the food in New York City is about 19% more expensive than in Florida. Therefore, the pizza should only cost about $16.20 here.) All in all, we thought it was delicious and worth the trip. However, dropping over $30 for a pizza and salad was very pricey. (And that was without alcohol- there is a full bar if you can afford it.) But something has to pay for that fancy water filtering system. Also, just as in New York, you cannot order just a slice. There are other locations too in Florida as well as Arizona, Nevada, South Carolina and Texas. Definitely worth a visit if you are craving real pizza and not the generic cardboard tasting pizza of Florida. However, bring your wallet because for a pizza joint, it ain't cheap. I could not afford the fifth sprout- so 4 out of 5 sprouts for me.

I came here one day after I finished some late night shopping at the mall. I always walked by Grimaldi's when leaving the mall, but nothing never really drew me inside. Well this particular day I was craving pizza so my friend and I decided to go ahead check it out. The inside and ambiance is really nice so even though its pizza, it could still make for a good date spot. My friend and I ordered a salad and a pizza to split. I felt kind of bad because from my memory the salad was pretty good and I probably ate more than half...or maybe it was because I was really hungry and the pizza took a while so I just ate what was there...either way I remember devouring the salad. When the pizza finally arrived it was hot with the cheese bubbling and all the ingredients looked and smelt so fresh. The crust was really thin and everything tasted fresh. I guess I gave this place 3 stars because even though the pizza was good, I was still so HUNGRY after I finished. It was too light for me and I spent $20 on pizza and was still hungry. I probably wouldn't split it if I ate here again(the waiter said it would be plenty even if we split it but I guess he didn't realize how hungry and greedy we were that night). I am really big on eating a thick tasty crust and deep dish pizzas so I would probably go to one my other fav spots before I came here because I like to leave nice and full.

This place is the best!! My husband and I dined here before going to a movie on our Wednesday date night and we were SO glad we chose this restaurant! We had a great meal of white garlic pizza with fresh tomatoes (suggested by our server, Lauren, who is awesome) and caprese salad, and we were finished with plenty of time to get to the movie on time. The manager, Amanda, visited us at our table to make sure we were enjoying our meal, which we appreciated, too. This restaurant has consistent great food & service, plus they give you a free pizza on your birthday! Did you know that?

Really great New York style pizza. Tons of toppings and deliciousness. We've been here twice now the pizzas are huge and so filling. Don't let the fact that it is located in a mall fool you, this place is delicious.

Terrible, terrible, terrible. I really wanted to like it but they really don't know how to build a pizza. The flavors are just not there. A wasted meal and a waste of 25 dollars.

Pizza is just ok. The bucket of sweet loving Pepsi makes me happy:) parking sucks. Service is average for mall food. The tables are set so close that we actually ate dinner with an entire family we didnt know. Wont be visiting here again unless im thirsty and already in the area and parked.

We have been coming to Grimaldis since they opened this location (10+ times a month). The turnover of management and staff is obvious and the latest management/kitchen staff/expeditor is less than sub-par. The ticket times on food has increased exponentially over the last few months, which has paralleled the turnover in staff. Our latest meal here (8/5) has not increased my overall impression of them lately with the exception of our server, Sabrina. We ordered our food at ~6:20 and we did not receive it until 7pm. If it were a weekend or the restaurant was extremely busy for a weekday, I would have been more understanding. In the interim, our server kept coming over to check on us, refilling glasses, and telling us the food should be up shortly. When the food finally came out, the manager on duty and an assistant (I assume) brought out the pizzas (2). Since the table space isn't conducive to really more than one pizza, modifications to the space are a given. However, the assistant decided to put a pizza underneath another pizza that in term pushed two people's plates basically in their laps and then proceeded to scan the table and say "that's much better with space." She did not ask if she could get any accoutrements for the pizza that we are typically offered nor did she ask if the food came out to our specifications, which is restaurant 101. I could only chuckle to myself and wonder what type of people could qualify for this girl's position. Then the chicken on top of the pizzas was lukewarm at best, which indicates that the pizzas had to have been sitting in the window for several minutes. Thankfully Sabrina came over to check on us and remarked that the setup wouldn't work if we wanted to not have the plates in our laps. The Clw Grimaldis better do everything they can to keep servers like Sabrina if they want to keep regulars coming back and have positive reviews.

Very inviting outdoor bar/patio arrangement. Also, a better selection of beers on tap than your standard Budweiser/Miller/Coors (although a little overpriced[$5.00/drink]). We just came for a couple of drinks, but decided to get some appetizers too. Had the caprese salad and the antipasto. The caprese tasted like it had been frozen and just thawed out. The antipasto looked and tasted like it was just thrown on the plate out of various containers. A little disappointing, but maybe the pizza's good. The waitress was wonderful. Very friendly, attentive, and explained the menu to us in detail. Synopsis: if you're going to grab a couple beers because you're an alcoholic and it's barely past noon(like us) this place is a good place for a few drinks. Might wanna get your food else where...

I feel that Grimaldis is quite over priced for their underwhelming tasteless food. The service was great however the the calzone and pizza definitely lacked flavor.

Love the atmosphere. Wine bottle ceiling lights. Checkerboard tablecloths. It felt cozy. The service was great. I really loved coal fired pizza. That semi burnt crust is truly enjoyable. I took my kids and we had a half cheese, half sausage pizza. The kids weren't a huge fan of the pizza. I think because they used a little too much sauce for their taste. The sauce isn't sweetened like Papa Johns. I personally like it, but if you like a sweeter tomato sauce, this may not be the best sauce for you. I like that they used fresh mozzarella cheese. It tastes so much better than the other stuff delivery joints use. The "New York style" cheesecake is not NY style. It isn't baked and it's too soft. It was creamy and not firm. It was okay, but not worth the $5. I have been here before and the pizza is always great. I'm just going to stick with that and pass on the dessert next time.

Excellent service and management. Our first pizza came out a little well done and they let us snack on it and immediately said they had another one in the oven to replace. I would highly recommend this location it has great customer service and food.

Having just moved to Clearwater I started looking for a good Pizza place (I'm from the New Jersey area originally (no wise cracks please) so I tend to be a real pizza snob). Anyway, Grimaldi's pizza is actually very good - a few side notes though - it is extremely thin crust - 2 of us managed to eat a whole pizza without left overs - we can usually put down 2 slices and take the rest home - that's how thin the crust is. That being said - the flavors are very good - the crust is nice and crisp - we always get a plain cheese pie the first time we order pizza anywhere - if they can't make a plain pie you can bet they can't make a special The price is a bit high for pizza but they are in a mall which is to be expected - otherwise I would have given them a 4 star rating I really wanted to try their Amaretto cheesecake but at $5 per slice I decided to make my own LOL All in all, I would eat here again next time I'm at the mall.

Nice open eating area that is not overly cramped. They've got an a bar the is I side and outside along with an outside eating area. Service.is mediocre and unprofessional. There were 27 customers at their tables, and no servers on the floor. Most of the servers are female and were standing in the back laughing and giggling. That being said, as soon as an order was up, they brought the food out. Food doesn't match the ambiance. The designer nailed it for sure. Bravo. But the service and food need to come up to the same level as the design of this joint. Pizza sauce is tasteless. Crust is good. Cheese is mediocre. I don't like that they charge you a premium for a pizza and if you want ANY toppings, it's $2,00 each.

Pizza is amazing, let's be clear! Now if they could only get the service in check... Life would be good! The fastest I got anything once I asked... Was the check!

not up to par with other coal oven pizzas i've had. it was a little dry and so burnt on the edges that i couldn't eat most of the crust. and yes, it was burnt, not just coal soot on the pizza.

Amazing that there are so many negative reviews - this is far and away the best pizza in the countryside area. We have eaten here a dozen times and have never had bad service or a bad meal... The house salad is also very good, and the pizza is simply lights out! I can only guess some people simply don't care for the thin brick oven pizza - good thing there is a pizza hit down the road for them!

One of the worst experiences I have ever had at a restaurant! My family and I went to Grimaldi's based on the reviews it had gotten on this site, and we could not have been more disappointed. The first thing I did upon arriving at the restaurant was wash my hands, as I walked in one of the waiters came out of the stall and walked out without washing his hands!!! Disgusted I walked out and hoped he would not be our waiter. He actually ended up bringing out our pizza. We ate from the opposite side from where he carried it and the pizza itself was subpar. Definitely not something you would get in New York. Also the house salad was supposed to have a red wine vinaigrette but ended up tasting like lettuce with vinegar. You could not pay me to come back!!!

The service was great. The waitress was attentive and made me feel at home. The hostess asked if everything was good. The food was delicious I had the house salad and the mushroom and onion pizza. Only $8.00 this was a complete turn around from my experience last month. I think yelping about the bad service made the manager talk to his staff and it worked. I hope everyone will benefit from the attitude change. I will definitely be back . Thank u Allison.

Typically go here with the kids and really enjoy the fact that they let the children play with dough while they wait for a meal. Last visit we took another family and never felt like a nuisance. The waitress was quick to take our order. The food came out fairly quick. Love the Mediterranean salad!!!! And the pizza is AWESOME. We typically stick with the white and the traditional cheese and are always pleased. Pizza was hot, crispy on the bottom with excellent flavoring! The only thing we didn't like was the sangria. Wasn't very good at all :(

I love pizza, and I was excited when I saw Grimaldi's when I went to the movie theater in the mall. It looks nice, has an indoor/outdoor mall, and is a slightly upscale place. My experience was thoroughly disappointing. I went for lunch and it was definitely not busy. That was not a good sign. We ordered our drinks, and then were trying to decide on our meals. The choices are extremely limited. It's pretty much pizza or salads. There weren't any sandwiches, pasta dishes, or anything else. So pizza it was. The pizza came out in a reasonable amount of time, since it is made fresh and it has to bake, I knew it would not be quick. I know thin crust, coal-fired pizza is crispy and sometimes has char on it. That's not a problem. (Some people complain about this, but that's how it's made.) Anyway the pizza was very bland and did not have enough sauce or seasoning. The cheese looked very strange too. I can't really describe it, but I've never seen melted cheese that had this kind of texture. The service wasn't bad, but I would classify our waitress as disinterested and unmotivated. She spoke to us kind of like we were interrupting her Facebook chat. The atmosphere seems nice at first, but then it becomes a little disquieting. It's very open, like a warehouse, and it's almost like you're on display for all to see. Very odd. I never felt comfortable in there. It has a New York theme to it, and the lights above us kept flickering from dim to bright. At first we thought it was just a bad circuit or something, but then we noticed a pattern, and determined they are probably trying to simulate a NY subway. Nothing screams "have a relaxing meal" like flickering subway lights. It was giving me a headache. Again, very odd. There was also some guy watching a movie on his phone next to us with the volume turned up all the way, which was annoying. This isn't the fault of the restaurant, but it didn't add to my experience and they could have asked him to turn the volume down. I might go back for drinks but I can't imagine I will eat here again. Very disappointing.

The Best!!! Anyone that does not LOVE this place has no idea what makes good pizza and calzone. Also, I grew up near NYC and have never had a better cannoli.

Stopped by for dinner after seeing a movie at the new Cobb Theater and was very impressed! There is an inside/walk-up outside bar that really draws you in. The decor is festive, with a new York theme of course. Red checkered tablecloths, wine bottles hanging from the ceiling with little lights inside and tons of framed photographs of the Brooklyn Bridge and other New York landmarks. My family grew up in New York and New Jersey and my mother has eaten at the original Grimaldi's under the Brooklyn Bridge. The pizza was excellent - NY style thin crust which was slightly crispy due to it being coal fired in a brick oven and topped with homemade FRESH mozzarella. It is common knowledge for us Northeasterners that the key to great pizza is in the water. Grimaldi's actually hired a chemist to recreate the exact composistion of New York water, which obviously helps give it that great taste. You'd be hard pressed to find this anywhere else in the area. Their wine list is actually pretty nice as well, with a decent sized selection from both Italy and California. I chose a glass of the the Layer Cake Primitivo and my mom, who just traveled to Italy recently had a glass of the Villa Antinori Toscana Rosso. Hers was the definte winner but they were both yummy. The restaurant is brand new and conveniently located on the bottom floor of Coutryside mall next to Sears and the new movie theater. I forsee many more family dinners at Grimaldi's when I am in town.

Perhaps it is new staff, inexperience, or incompetence, but when we attempted to eat there last night it didn't go so well. Let me preface by saying that I worked as a waiter in college and at the start of my career...so I have a lot of patience for the industry. But I also can recognize bad service vs a bad customer's unreasonable expectations. (Are they still called "spodas?") We were quoted a wait of 30-45 minutes. Certainly fine for a new restaurant on a Saturday night. My wife and our daughters (ages 8 & 9) quietly entertained ourselves for over an hour. Another couple left, fed up at the wait and their impression that another table was sat first. After that the hostess told us we were almost up. Twenty more minutes passed and the early crowd that surrounded the restaurant had disappeared so we started to worry that we had been skipped over (or forgotten). The family had finally become restless so I asked the hostess about our status and after checking she said it should be ten more minutes (at that point it would have been about a 90 minute wait). I told her we wouldn't wait any longer so she offered to get the manager. The manager came over and after checking our status at the hostess stand told us there was still another table in front of us (I looked around and saw no one else even waiting outside) but would see what he could do. He apologized for the misquote of the time, but really? Twice as long? He didn't even offer us a discount, appetizer coupon for our next visit, etc (something simple to make up for the inconvenience that is always in a managers back pocket). At that point the hostess offered to get the girls a couple of kid drinks. Nice gesture but after an hour of misleading information I had question its sincerity. The manager came back with menus and said it would be another ten minutes...really? We had enough and left. After reading the review on the food I can confidently say that I would rather enjoy a pizza from my favorite local pizza restaurant, Sans (Racetrack Road), despite the difference in ambiance. Grimaldis looked so promising but I doubt we will be trying it again anytime soon.

Wow, such low reviews are surprising. I have dined twice and ordered the same pizza both times. It's definitely not fast food, but it's not a super long wait compared to most restaurants. I order a specially ordered pizza and the first time it came out perfect. I really like the crispy, golden crust. The only complaint I have is that I sat at the bar and the bartender who wasn't busy seemed too busy to keep soda in our glasses. It's like because we weren't bar customers/drinkers, we were a nuisance. The 2nd time, the pizza we ordered was a little soupy. I would suggest training the chefs to squeeze/wring the artichokes before placing them on the pizza. And my final suggestion is to not serve Mr. Pibb or whatever generic Dr. Pepper you serve. After ordering it twice, I won't order it again. It's the South! There is no reason not to serve real Dr. Pepper.

We've been here twice since it opened. The first time was carry out, the second time was dine in for a free birthday pizza. The staff is very friendly and I found them to very prompt. The pizza we brought home was very good. It's been quite a while so I can't remember everything on it, but it was good. We also split the Grimaldi's House Salad, which I think is one of the best salads I've had in Clearwater! The second time we ate at the restaurant, and obviously the pizza was even better, arriving at the table just seconds after exiting the oven. Very good pizza! I again had the house salad and I think part of their success is that the romaine lettuce and other vegetables are incredibly fresh, the salad is cold, cold, cold (as a salad should be), and the dressing is very good as well. I'm not sure if any pizza restaurant warrants four stars, but if the star scale was applied in this case to only pizza restaurants, Grimaldi's deserves four and possibly a plus.

Came here with my wife after watching a movie at the Cobb Theater. We ordered a personal pan pepperoni and cheese pizza. The pizza was great! Thin like true new york style pizza. Liked this place enough that I went back with my uncle and wife the following night and ordered a large Pep and cheese. Again the pizza was great! We did order a side of marinara and that had no salt, so that is the only complaint I have. When I am in the mood for some new york style coal oven pizza, this will be my place to go. Glad to have you in town Grimaldi's.

Perhaps my expectations for pizza are too high after being spoiled by other restaurants (or my own homemade versions). I was excited to try out Grimaldi's after hearing positive things about it. However, I have to say I wasn't completely "wow"ed by the experience. Their pizza is thin crust, which I love. It does have a nice crunch to it. However, overall it was just ok...nothing I'd write home about. They do recommend that you only order 2 or 3 toppings maximum on your pizza in order to keep it crisp, so perhaps it was my lack of options that deterred my enjoyment? I'm not sure. It was enjoyable, but nothing I'd go out of my way for in the future!

Heard some decent reviews and thought I might give it a shot. they have great decor and a good location in Countryside mall. The staff was clearly young and inexperienced but friendly at least. They clearly need some direction from management who seemed non existant on my visit. Too much standing around and looking out at the diners. The pizza, cooked in a coal oven, was thin and crispy. Excellant crunch on the crust. the fresh mozzarella was great but could have been cooked a bit more. It was almost cold. the pizza came out hot but with 1-2 mins was already cold and I can only attribute that to the fact that the crust was done and the cheese was 4 mins short of done. We got a Pepperoni, mushroom and Sausage pizza and it cost $30 plus tip for me and my 2 kids. Way to expensive for what you really get. It is good enough to try it once but I certainly would not spend that much on a pizza again.

This was my first time at a Grimaldis and it was great. I have had many pizzas that claim to be New York pizza but this was the one that walked the walk and talked the talk. The service was on point and very thorough and I learned a lot about you place. Melly was awesome and the pizza was perfect so if you want great pizza go to this place.

We were really excited to try a new pizza place, especially one with a recognizable NY name. I was not impressed. The sauce was flavorless and tasted like plain sauce from a can. The crust was dry and also pretty flavorless. One plus: I did really like the fresh mozzarella. But it didn't make up for the rest of the pie. We also had 3 different salads, they were just ok. Although the dressing on the caesar salad dressing was not good at all. If I want thin crust pizza, I'll head a few miles over to Anthony's or to downtown Clearwater to Cristino's. There were 6 in our group...only 1 said they would want to go back.

I heard about Grimaldi's so while at the mall I decided to try a slice. Sorry not impressed. The pizza sauce was orange in color and had no flavor. Also not enough sauce on the pie. The staff was pleasant. But thumbs down on the pizza.

Excellent place for a sit down pizza dining experience. The basil in the sauce and fresh mozzarella makes this pizza amazing! I don't understand all the low reviews from the haters on here!?

  • Stephanie D.

I was really disappointed by the quality of the pizza for the price. It was pretty bland, tasteless and greasy. I'll stick to my go-to of Anthony's pizza on enterprise. The only reason I gave it a second star was I would stop by for a glass of wine at the little outside bar it has while waiting for a movie, and I liked the decor.

Ok. This place would have received a negative star if I had the option. The positives, hmmmm, none. My wife and two kids went in to try Grimaldi's after noticing that this place had a wait every time we passed by. Good sign? Thinks not. After requesting a booth and being told it would be 15 minutes it was actually 30. No big deal. After being seated and looking at the menu we noticed that the only things on the menu were pizza and salad. The salads were priced from $6 - $8 which is pretty high for a side salad at a pizza joint. The sodas were priced at $2.50 a pop which always hits me the wrong way and the pizzas are from $12 - $20 bucks with toppings at $2 - $4 a pop. Geez, must be really good stuff! Well, our salad arrived after waiting about 20 minutes and it was suprisingly bad. Yup, the dressing was super watered down, hardly any cheese and I think they forgot the croutons. We sent it back and waited another 15 minutes for our pizza and some refills on our $2.50 pops. Once the pizza arrived I tried a slice of white pizza. I love thin crunchy pizza, this was thin and super chewy, stingy on the cheese and light on the garlic. I have had better every where I have ever tried white pizza. The other side of the pizza had red sauce with pep and ham. The pepperoni was the kind you buy at the store and tasted more like spicy salami, the sauce was so watered down that my pizza that was supposed to be thin and crispy was a soggy mess. Overall, this place sucks and I left wishing I ordered a $5 pizza from hungry howies. Thanks to the lovely waiter for refilling my kids juice with pepsi. I realized after they drank half of it. Warning!! DO NOT GO THERE!

  • Andy F.

It's your average decent pizza, but f you get a large cheese pizza and then add 3 toppings, you're going to be at almost $30... and you might as well hit Cristino's at that point. The white pizza is pretty darn good though. Decent beer selection though, but surrounding restaurants offer more.

Dined in 5/15/2012 about 5:15PM. The place was empty with only 2 tables seated. It was just myself and I ordered a personal sausage pizza (12"). I am not a fan of Pepsi products so I ordered Pelligrino. The pizza arrive quickly and I must say it was the best pizza I had in a long time. I ordered take out from Cristinos last week and this definitely tasted better. This pie was crispy and chewy (love). I could have ate another one. My waitress did not ask me about dessert so I did not even know they served it. The negatives were not enough sausage and not asking me about desserts...I ended up going to the Lucky Dill and getting a large slice of cake..But I'm not here to count calories. I will go back and next time I will order a larger pizza.

We wanted to check out Cobb theatres and try this pizza. We went friday night. When we got there the hostess outside quoted us a time, 30 mins. 75 minutes later we were seated. Placed our order right away. I have to say-no appetizers on the menu at all, just salads and pizza. Ordered sangrias, didn't drink them, they were horrible. Ordered antipasto salad, that was okay, maybe because we were starving already. Manager came by and said they were behind on the pizzas and ours should be out shortly. My husband notice the pizzas were coming out burnt. 50 mins after we ordered, our pizza arrived-BURNT. I don't mean lightly toasted or crispy, I mean burnt, black-nasty, top and bottom of pizza ( how I wish I would have taken a picture!) I told our waitress, pizza is burnt, she sent the manager over. He said it was due to the coal oven. What!!??!! I have had coal oven pizza and this was disgusting. Then he said, well we are busy tonight. WHAT does that have to do with it??? it's burnt. He just didn't get it. We all ate half a slice, ( cause the other half was burnt) and left the other 4 pieces on the pan. Then our waitress said- do you want to take that home? I said " would you eat this burnt pizza?" she said no and walked away. No discount, nothing. I would not recommend this place at all and would definately not be coming back. Instead of trying to hurry up and open this place, they should have trained their employees about customer service-esp. Managers- and teach the cooks to keep an eye on their pizzas, since its the ONLY thing they make. 2.5 hours wasted and $60 down the drain.

This was my first time at Grimaldis outside of New York. I loved the atmosphere and the decor. I was happy that a Brooklyn style pizza came to Florida. I have also been to many places claiming to be Brooklyn style pizza and none of them compare to one I had at Grimaldis. I got a Margarita style which you will have to specify and a say Tomatoes and Basil and you have to get the basil after. The sauce was so fresh as the server said it was made everyday fresh. We also had a Mediterranean salad which was just as good also cut fresh everyday as I was explained to. Finally we finished off with a Oreo Cheesecake which was as I said to die for. I will be back and make sure you as for Melly because she knew what was going on. Thank you to the really tall manager for sitting talking with us.

Amazing that there are so many negative reviews - this is far and away the best pizza in the countryside area. We have eaten here a dozen times and have never had bad service or a bad meal... I can only guess some people simply don't care for the thin brick oven pizza - good thing there is a pizza hit down the road for them!

  • Nadia E.

Smh

Pepper.
