Friend introduced me to this place. Loved their protein salad w vinaigrette and mushroom bistro soup--only wanted half a salad. Choc dipped strawberry and bread is a great touch too. Getting to sample soups is a real plus. Hope this store will be coming to So Cal very soon. My friend was right. Looks like the whole menu is a real pleaser.

If it was just me, i'd've given 2 stars, but my wife & daughter-in-law really liked their meal, so i bumped it up. I was feeling tired & cranky after a long drive from Texas. I wanted a nice conventional restaurant where i could sit back & relax & get waited on, but She Who Must Be Obeyed demanded somewhere fast & this fit the bill. I was worried because the place looked packed & the lot was almost full. But to their credit the line clipped right along & we were given our food & seated right away. Another ominous factor was that the clientele was literally 90% women. I won't elaborate on the implications ... As stated, the wimmenfolks loved it. To be fair they probably made better choices than me. I decided to go for comfort food, so ordered clam chowder & a grilled cheese. Nice middle of the road, non-controversial. They blew it. I started on the chowder, which had (A) no clam flavor, (B) a variety of extraneous veggies, (C) a weird spice mix. I assumed I'd gotten their garden chowder by mistake & brought it back to the counter. Nope. I had the right thing. My fourth spoonful did have some clam in it, at least going by the texture. So that was a failure. (I tried a taste of my wife's quinoa soup & it was way better.) My grilled cheese also flopped. First, they "jazzed it up" by adding pesto, which radically altered the experience, not for the better. Second, they failed in the most fundamental part - the cheese was unmelted, though it had softened. In all Zupas is a place I'm happy to abandon to the female kaffeeklatches. If my wife again insists I'll just walk across the way to one of the many other choices, and leave her & her sisters to their fun.

This place has issues! but for the price for the portions that's what I have a problem,it's a cafe fit for a girl because of the small bite sized portions,won't be going back ever! Not just because of the tiny portions,the service was really annoying,and I found not one but 3 hairs in my soup,I complained to the manager about it,and seemed to have a careless attitude about it,didn't offer to refund me or replace my meal,rude and very unapologetic,after looking at most of the negative reviews the customer service is broken needs a complete 360!
