The food was good and the service was fast. Everyone was nice but the young female cashier was rather dour. I had the Cuban, a coffee, potato ball and chic croq. All memorable. I'd go back.

Absolutely amazing. From start to finish the meal was on point. Many options and everything we had as a group perfect. The yuca was cooked just right. The Cuban was memorable.

I had the special steak sandwich with sweet plantains. Very delicious, friendly staff. I will have the ham sandwich next time. I looked really good too.

CSotR almost makes me want to move to Florida- it's that good! I'm so happy that I crossed paths with this amazing sandwich spot! I was in the mood for something not so run-of-the-mill, so when I came across CSotR on Yelp, I knew I had to try it out. And I couldn't be happier! First of all, I ordered way more food than I could possibly eat in one sitting. And I only spent about 12 bucks doing it. Many, many thanks to the other Yelpers who suggested Brenda's specialty. This sandwich is amazing! The steak, cheese, and plantains are the perfect combination with just the right amount of sweetness. I also ordered a hearty bowl of black bean soup, which resembles more a side of beans and white rice than soup, but again, it's tasty and I don't mind. And as icing to this delicious Cuban cake, I couldn't leave without ordering one of their guava pastries. I definitely don't have room to eat it at the moment (I still have nearly a full bowl of bean soup and half a sandwich left), but I'll darn sure try as soon as my happy tummy has room to do so. Not sure when I am returning to Florida, but when I do, I will definitely make it a point to head directly to CSotR!

I've been to Cubans-on-the-run many times...it's Casselberry's hidden gem for ethnic food, especially if you don't want to eat at another chain restaurant. I was first recommended to go here from my husband, who would eat here almost everyday for lunch. We always order the Chicken Ficasee platter, which comes with a quarter moist chicken, yellow rice, black beans and sweet plaintains. It's a generous platter and for the price you can't go wrong! That meal is usually good for two people, which is what we usually do. If you're not full enough from that large meal, they have excellent sizes, I recommend the potato ball (papa rellena) or the Arepas, which is basically 2 sweet corn patties with cheese in the middle. yum! I will be back!

A friend & I stopped by here for lunch on Fri., 1/9. He'd never been before (he was visiting from California) and I hadn't been in years. CSOTR used to be a favorite and I expected it to be just as good as I remembered it. It didn't disappoint! My friend had the Hawaiian Cuban and seemed to really enjoy it. I ordered the larger (9") breaded spicy chicken sandwich and loved it. It was appropriately spicy and the melted Swiss cheese wasn't messy or overwhelming. The bread is outstanding! I love Cuban bread so much. I also had a cup of the black bean soup, which was delicious. It was served with rice and onions and I devoured all of it. Most black bean soups essentially are the same, but this one stands out. The restaurant is fairly nondescript but the service is not. Each employee that helped us on Friday was extremely friendly and polite. Our visit here was excellent. We had to wait a few extra minutes for our lunch since we showed up at around 1:15 p.m. (prime lunch time) but I have no complaints or issues with that. I would happily wait a few extra minutes for food this good. The lunch time wait is the exception, rather than the rule - during all past visits, everything I ordered was delivered very quickly. I'm hoping to go back soon, perhaps as early as this week. I need more of that black bean soup and might have to order the Brenda's Specialty Sandwich - the description (steak, sweet plantains, Swiss cheese, mayonnaise, onions, potato sticks) is making me salivate! I am not into pork/steak but that sandwich sounds like it's wonderful. I also would like to try some of the Spanish beverages and desserts. The arepas and empanadas also were very appetizing. Somehow, I resisted ordering those! Not next time. I'll try to post some pictures after my next visit to CSOTR.

Pretty good Cuban food, the lunch line was to the door when we got there but luckily a woman working took my friend on the to-go system (which seemed to confuse our orders a bit). Excellent cafe con leche, a big plus for me who is always on the hunt for the perfect coffee. The arepas were great and the turkey sandwich was good as well (although going back I would have gotten mine without mayo). My friend said her potato ball, black bean soup, and tamales were great. Another friend of mine gave his seal of approval on the sandwiches. A good lunch spot if you don't mind a lunch rush hour wait.

This little Cuban cafe has some of best Cuban sandwiches I've had. I've been twice and I've loved almost everything I've eaten from there. The Cuban, media noches, and turkey sandwiches are all amazing. We tried the the yuca fritas, seasoned fries, fried plantains, empanada, ham Croquettes, and Papa rellenas. All were very tasty except one, and it was the reason why I gave them 4 out of 5 stars. The Papa rellena was not as good as all the other food we had. It wasn't on the same level, but I recommend everyone in the area to run and have a sandwich.

  • Jackie N.

I'll have to try more menu items before going for the full five stars but their media noche ("midnight") and café con leche are pretty dang perfect and the service is superquick. I thought the pastelitos were a little on the fluffy-lacking-guava side but this might've been a one time thing as I've had them once before and didn't feel that way. I also am incredibly picky when it comes to pastelitos. I will enjoy many a Cuban sammich from this place though and so should you.

My fiancé and I came here for dinner last night. The Staff is always friendly and the food oh so delicious! I was actually craving something that wasn't on the menu which was a beef milanesa sandwich they were awesome to make it for me. I must say it was super delicious and the best beef milanesa sandwich I've had since I moved to Florida! Thank you very much for fulfilling this prego's cravings! The beef empanadas are a must try if you are a first timer here, to be honest everything is delicious here the only problem is to decide what to eat!

Best Cuban pork & chicken entrees. Portions are plenty, no skimping here. Sandwiches are great as is the homemade chicken soup served with bread that is lightly toasted. Really love the sweet plantains. Prices are great especially for the quality. The staff is friendly & attentive. I have eaten here many times and never have been disappointed. A nice clean restaurant with great food.

I'm not Cuban, nor have I ever been to Cuba, but I'm pretty sure these guys are doing it right. They have a ton of sandwiches and a hot bar to choose from along with baked goods, pastries and crunchy thick slabs of pork belly/chicharon. Come in hungry, these guys don't play. The midnight is my go to sandwich but seriously, everything is good. Parking could be better but it's only a problem at lunch. Dinner rush isn't as bad.

Just about the only place I will willingly drive out of my way to eat a sandwhich from. I live over near UCF just to give you a guess.. I love love LOVE this place though. Ive been a patron for years. I try to dine in when I can but they are usually pretty high capacity, always seem very steady. Despite how busy they usually are, you receive your order pretty fast. A few of the staff members have been around for years and they are always so friendly. Hands down one of my top 3 favorite places to eat around town.

  • Nestor R.

Im so glad I live near this place. Its pretty freaken awesome to have Cuban food near by that serves up tender, flavorful pork. I should probably order something else other than the pernil, which is fantastically seasoned, tender and juicy. Ive had it twice and the experience has been very consistent. Meals run about 10 dollars and come with white rice, sweet plantains and red or black beans. Do yourself a favor and just go with black. Once you go black bean you'll never go back. I usually go for takeout as Im not into the vibe inside. Just doesnt seem like a Cuban place for some reason. Its got more of a waffle house vibe. Maybe modern it up or go with a vintage industrial vibe to attract more clientele. I certainly would like to see this place thrive and make a killing so it can stay open for me. I know, I'm selfish. Keep up the great job. Also thanks for asking if I want hot sauce. How did you know I like hot sauce on my pernil?

  • Jenni S.

Can't get to Miami? Stop here for the closest thing to at least South Florida if not Cuba. Good meals too, I've tried and would recommend the Pork chunks/rice/black beans combo, and in the morning, the Cafe con leche with a Guava pastry is as good as it sounds.

Let me just say, this place is sooooo goodddddd My friend introduced me to this place a few months ago after a business meeting. I did not expect much; how could this Cuban food be any different than any other place? Well I was quite wrong. Their sandwiches are hot, and so tasty. I saw the Brenda on their menu as "must try" and went for it. Best Cuban sandwich I ever had. The sweet plantains were a part inside this sandwich and went extremely well with it. Steak was juicy and hot and the cheese was gooey. Finally, the hot sauce. It wasn't "hot" hot but was really tasty. Would push this up to 6 stars if I could solely because of the sauce, to be honest. Too good. I've come another time to try their lunches too, and was not disappointed at all. Their fried pork chunks were surprisingly soft and delicious, contrary to what they looked (thought they were typically dry and what not). Tostones were on on point, and beans and rice were soft and flavorful. I can't really find anything to criticize. Excellent place, great people, and delicious food. 5/5.

As a Miamian and accustomed to Cuban fare, this is a preliminary review for our first time at this little eatery. I liked the almost divey atmosphere and the fact that they have some outdoor seating for the cooler months. That the view is 17-92 traffic doesn't come with an up charge!. My husband ordered the chicken soup and a Cuban sandwich. Hmmmmm..... The soup was not like any other we've ever had. Instead of a chicken stock base with chicken, potatoes and a bit of carrots and celery, this was water based with a huge serving of chicken and yuca. Unusual but generous and filling. The Cuban sandwich was good but would have been better with a heavier and warmer press. I ordered a side of sweet plantains and a Brenda's special. Both were generous in size and tasty. Again, the sandwich needed a warmer press. Drinks are quite large, the staff were very friendly and helpful and the place was clean. We will definitely return for the palomilla with black beans, tres leches and café con leche. Who am I kidding? We'll try the whole menu, one bite at a time.

This place is EXCELLENT!! I've been wanting to try this since I moved to the area, but unfortunately I've always craved it on a Sunday when they are closed. I finally got the chance last weekend, and it was well worth the wait. The decor is not much to look at. And the music was a little strange for a Cuban restaurant. But it was clean and the staff was very friendly. Our food came out rather quickly (I ordered the Cuban sandwich and my friend had the Steak sandwich.) we both got the smaller size sandwich and I'm glad we did because we were both stuffed by the end. The only complaint I would say about my Cuban was that it had a little too much mustard for my taste. But other than that it was perfect. Definitely will be going back so I can try other things on their menu

Clean. Great selection. Dine in or to go. More than just sandwiches. Ropa viejo soups, croquettes, picadillo etc. a find.

I cannot believe that I've been living in Maitland and we were just able to eat here. I'm from SoFL and I have missed Cuban food SO much...the croquetas, sandwiches, ropa vieja, etc. I've tried other places but nothing was like SoFL... until now. Cuban on the Run was just so great. We went for lunch and tried the ham croquetas, cuban sandwich, pan con lechon, and flan. Everything was excellent, except for the flan (it didn't tasted right). My pork sandwich was just yummy, freshly made with TONS of pulled pork con mojo. My husbands cuban was delicious as well with just the right mix of mustard and pickles (some places over do it on the mustard and pickles). Service was great. We took our sweet time trying to figure out what we wanted and the guys were just waiting patiently, giving us recommendations...all of this on a friday afternoon! So in closing, don't hesitate...stop by and taste one of their delicious sandwiches. I can't wait to go back to try their cafe con leche and pastries.

I used to go here every week to get a Cuban sandwich with rice & beans. They make excellent sandwiches with plenty of ham, cheese and pickles. The rice and beans are always cooked perfect. The bread is always fresh and lightly toasted with not too much mustard. The one downside has always been how busy they get and if you are here during rush lunch it can get slow. It is always better to call in your order to decrease the amount of time you spend waiting. They get 5 stars from me!

  • Steven A.

What a quality place. One of the great hidden food spots in the greater orlando area! Get the roasted pork with yellow rice and black beans, you wont be disappointed! Ordering sandwhiches take longer to prepare so I usually order from the counter display. If you are in a rush, ordering ahead is a great option. You can even pick up your order from a quick grab window. The resturant is nothing special booths and wood chairs. I tend to sit outside when seating is available.

  • Cicely S.

This place has a great lunch special, and the best potato balls I've ever had. They give you a ton of food if you get the lunch specials. Sandwiches can take a long time, so if you're in a hurry get the hot-food line.

  • Williamson T.

5 stars, best cuban food around. Be patient, the line is long for a reason ! Try the empanadas (THE BEST) The sandwiches and rice/beans are excellent. Call ahead and order ! Closed on sundays

I have been wanting to try this place for 2 years and I finally did. The pulled pork sandwich(pan con lechón)was amazing. I have tried other places and so far this is the best I've had. Too bad it took me so long to try it.

Amazing amazing amazing. I've been coming here since I was 13. For 18 years they have ran the best Cuban sandwi ch shop and Cuban and Hispanic food in orlando. Came today and was not disappointed. Amazing food and amazing people. Don't pass this place up.

This place is fast and serves tasty inexpensive food! It's always pretty packed and parking is a mess- but it's totally worth it. Try their soups and Cuban sandwiches.

  • Christina H.

Cuban Sandwiches on the Run is definitely a great lunch spot and "I don't feel like cooking, let's get take-out" staple. Their menu is consistent- roast pork, ropa vieja (shredded stewed beef), chicken, picadillo, white or yellow rice, red or black beans, and standard latin American sides like tostones, plátanos, and yuca, among others. Their fried finger food variety includes croquetas, stuffed potato balls, and arepas. With the hot bar, you get more than you pay for, especially if you order to-go. No joke, I'll get about 3 meals out of one to-go order. Excellent value and the food is delicious. Their namesake Cuban Sandwich is pretty good, my only desire is that they would use their actual roast pork instead of processed pork cold cuts. Either way, they do not disappoint.

    (4)
  • Heather H.

I ordered a Cuban sandwich to go. It was good but not as good as I expected from the reviews. I'm definitely going to go back and try other menu items but I doubt I will order a Cuban sandwich there again. I tried a bit of my friend's pork entree and it was much better than my sandwich.

We had the following dishes during out multiple visits to this place. potato balls - excellent. chicken and beef empanadas - excellent pork/lechon with rice, bean and maduro - excellent ropa vieja with rice, bean and maduro - excellent coffe with milk - excellent cuban sandwich - excelent!

Finally stopped in and gave it a try. I had the Lechon (pork) sandwich. Must say it was very delicious. I'm from south Florida and moved to the area a little bit ago and was looking for Cuban place to get food. Would definitely come back and get it again or try something else.

I have eaten here several times now and it's never a let down. Good food and good people. Love stopping by when I am in town. A must try if you love Cuban food. Just get there early, they always have a line out the door.

I was told about this place before and decided to try it out today. I must say this was a great sandwich (tripleta) and definitely a must try! The service wasn't all that great, but the food is good.

    (4)
  • M B.

Definitely the best cuban sandwiches we've had north of southern Florida. The croquettes were fresh and delicious, as well as the potato balls. The to-go meal portions looked to be good and plenty, and next time we're there we will try more. When in Orlando, we will definitely be back to visit.

The sandwiches are really yummy. So far I've had Pan con lechon and a media noche. Both really good. All the pastries are good as well.

Delicious Cuban food for a great price! They have HUGE portions. I try to make the dish last two meals, but it's so good that I eat it all in one sitting. Favorites: Potato balls (add some of their hot sauce for an additional flavor) Ropa vieja (shredded beef) Beef stew Picadillo (ground beef) Pernil (pork) Steak and cheese sandwich Roast pork sandwich The meat dishes come with a choice of yellow or white rice, pinto or black beans, and plantains. Excellent, tasty, full of flavor! You can ask for the beans on the rice, otherwise they put it in a to-go container lid to keep separate. The steak and cheese and roast pork sandwhiches are divine! I swear they put a crack sauce on them. The flavors just meld together and create an awesome, flavor-packed experience. Stop by, you won't be sorry!

Cuban Sandwiches On The Run has always been one of my favorite stops for lunch, or on occasion a quick and good dinner. Evey time I go there the staff is always extra friendly and attentive. One of the things I really enjoy about this sandwich shop is the variety of Cuban sandwiches you can choose from. If you find yourself in the Casselberry area and want some good Cuban food, or some really good Cuban Coffee, make sure you stop by and catch a few Cubans On The Run

Being from South Florida, basically North Cuba, I had longed for a good Cuban meal and this place delivered right on the money. Couldn't be happier! I go here almost twice a week now .

    (5)
  • Chrissy L.

The sandwiches are so tasty and greasy! Everything I've had was awesome and came out super quick. But they are just sandwiches and the interior isn't anything special so it doesn't quite warrant five stars.

Best Cuban in Central FL. You need to to to Tampa or Miami for as good or better. Great Cuban Pork too.

Really hispanic looking place with great food! All the food looks great and looks really clean inside too. It just remind me of Puerto Rico and love it :)

  • Janet Z.

Unassuming on the out side, but once you go in, Cafe con leche is frothy and sweet, nice and crusty bread for all the sandwiches. Flavor of the roast pork is best I have had so far. Of course you can't say no to a classic Cuban sandwich if you come here. When you bite into your Cuban sandwich, expect the crust to snap and break with the escaping steam, follow by the almost sweet soft center of the bread, then melty cheese cascade on the savory ham and pork and crunchy pickles. This is what a lunch should feel like, and sound like.

  • Shaina V.

Hands down my favorite cuban place in Orlando. It's far from home, but well worth the drive. I pick it up whenever I happen to be passing by. The thought of their sandwiches makes me drool and the pun of a name makes me giggle. They serve up an amazing cuban piled high with sliced ham and roast pork, on authentic cuban bread with ooey gooey swiss cheese, pressed perfectly together. Can't beat this place for the price, only $5 for a large sandwich! Dinner plates are also reasonably priced considering the portions are so generous. I ate my beef stew, rice, beans and plantains two days in a row for lunch because they gave me so much. This local business is thriving and can get a bit crowded at lunch time, but don't let the long lines deter you from giving it a try. You'll be happy you did!

  • Jennifer R.

Love that I finally tried this place. Small area with a few tables, order on one side of the counter, pick up on the other. I tried the Midnight (cuban sandwich on sweet bread), a potato ball and a guava pastry. So tasty!! The sandwich was huge, crispy and had jist enough filling to make me want more. The potato ball was crispy on the outside, soft on the inside with a great filling of beef and pork. The guava pastry was a bit dry and a bit shy on thr filling so I think I will try a cheese one next time. Overall, for $8, I got tons of tasty of food. I will definitely be back again.

I found this place on yelp, saw it's high rating and decided to give it a chance. Holy hell this food is good. The place is relatively small, quirky, and clean. It's dominated by the large kitchen and serving area. The staff was friendly, quick, and offered free samples of their hot food. Which is fantastic because I'm really bad at making up my mind. I've tried their hot cuban sandwich, black beans, rice, and pork roast and it has all been savory, juicy, and seasoned to perfection. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a quick lunch or dinner option. EDIT: I just thought I'd add one thing. TRY THEIR HOT FOOD. Their stewed pork, chicken, and beef were incredibly tender and had a deep rich flavor that I've rarely found anywhere else. Pair it with their complimentary hot sauce then put your tongue to bed, cause you're not going to taste anything better that day.

Was very disappointed in the Cuban sandwich. The prices were reasonable. Would come back but not for the Cuban.

  • Mike B.

Excellent family owned establishment! Second visit was just as good as the first. So far I have had the chicken sandwich and also the philly. Both were good and the portions are overly generous for the price! The bread also is very fresh and tastes very good! Also, I have tried the potato balls an although they probably aren't good for you they were good! Overall, it would be a 5 star place if it was a little bigger and had more room for seating an such! Also the parking lot is tough to grab a spot when it's busy!

I have lived around this area for years and I remember when Cuban Sandwiches on the run was owned by someone else and had a different name but remains in the same location, ever sense change in management this place had gotten new decor inside and out side. The food still remains pretty good but it seems like they are short on help, when I went a lot of people had to wait a while to get there orders taken and the one guy that was doing that was running around. The people that work there are friendly and the place is clean and has fresh food made all day. You can choose from a variety of things on there menu such as Cuban sandwich or Media Noche or you can get a meal witch consist of your choice from the hot bar and a side for some what of an expensive price($9-$10). Four stars because some of there items are over priced but they got that many stars for there food being fresh, good and being open late.

  • Jenn F.

Pretty good sandwich! Decided to stop by to grab a quick bite Togo. This was my first time coming to this place although it is right around the corner from me. The sandwich didn't disappoint! I bought the media noche (midnight) and a papa rellena (potatoe ball) and they were delicious. The food came out quick (I was getting it to go) and the price was very reasonable. I will come again and this time bring my husband. :-)

The lechon cubano was good. The chicharron was stale. I have faith that the other dishes will be good. Yes, you read into that correctly, I'll be back. The smells were just too good to turn away.

Everywhere I move there is always that ONE place I can always turn to... Whether it be for a quick lunch, take out, or dinner, I wouldn't hesitate to come down to CSOTR. Everything from the sandwiches to the entree's have all been muy tasty. The only meh moment I had was with the ropa vieja (tad on the dry side)... I'd eat the grilled pork over it any day. potato balls - check cheese rolls - check grilled pork & seasoned rice - check fried plantains - check a full meal with appz dessert n' all for ~ $10

It was because of you guys on Yelp that my boyfriend and I found this pearl. Our trip to Orlando was pretty much a complete disaster. Almost everything was ridiculously over priced, but not this place. The food was fantastic and cheap. I went with the pork sandwich per so many people's suggestion and it was fantastic. $5.60 for a regular sandwich. I had some fried green plantains for $2.50 and a cappuccino for $1.99. It was so much food, I took the other half of my sandwich with me. My boyfriend had a large Cuban sandwich and it was only $.25 or $.50 more. It was delicious too, but I liked mine more. And the hot sauce was AWESOME! I'd absolutely recommend this restaurant; Thank you to everyone for your great suggestions. Now if only we could get one in Kansas.

Great sandwiches - actually everything I have ordered from here was awesome. At my old job my co-workers and I used to get take out from here once a week.

  • Frank L.

Funny name...great food. The staff is very friendly and will start speaking to you in Spanish, so you may want to know a little Spanish or tell them you don't speak it :) With that said, I ordered the Media Noche and a potato ball, Hands down, one of the best Media Noches I have had. What is a potato ball you ask? It is basically a ball of mashed potatoes with some seasoned chopped meat inside..yummy! The food was hot, came out quickly and was just really good.

  • Daniel M.

I stopped by this morning for an early lunch, before the crowds arrived. The restaurant isn't much to look at, but their sandwiches are very good! A huge fan of lechon asado, I had the roast pork (roast pork, onions, mojo sauce, mayo on a pressed roll), and it was very good. The meat was flavorful and tender, and the overall flavor combination was unusual enough to be surprising without being overstated so much as to be distracting. Their prices were very reasonable for the amount and quality of food that you get. Minus one star for the clownish mural of a Cuban chef who looks like one of Nintendo's Mario Bros sitting on the beach and the general lack of ambiance, but the food here is excellent and well worth a try!

  • Alex S.

Stopped in late last night for a much needed Cuban! I had high hopes coming in, as I heard it was cheap and amazing previous to stopping by. Well, let me tell you I was not disappointed. To me the bread is the most important part, and they nailed it. I had to take it to-go and eat it 30 minutes after it was prepared, still delicious. I also wanted to try a few other things there so I had a chicken empenada and sample of the ropa veija. Didn't fancy either of those, hence the four star rating. The store was clean, the workers were friendly, and most importantly the Cuban was amazing. Definitely coming back whenever I'm in the area!

I can't fully review Cubans on the Run. As a mostly vegetarian I don't see myself chowing down on a chicharron anytime soon. Cuban food isn't really known for being vegetarian friendly but that's ok because they have café con leche. I crave café con leche. I drive from Sanford to Casselberry just for coffee. It's beautiful and it gives me a happy caffeine sugar buzz that makes me want to cha-cha with the guy behind the counter. 1, 2, cha cha cha.

This place is so good that it's the first Yelp review I'm writing since I moved to Orlando! I'm from Miami and grew up eating Cuban food, so I'm extremely picky. I read all the reviews, and it's so close to my house that I had to check it out. I came here for lunch during the week as soon as I walked in, the aromas from the food instantly validated its authenticity. I ordered the chicken sandwich with no mayo and an arepa, and my boyfriend got the Cuban sandwich with a side of yellow rice. My sandwich was crispy, pressed to perfection, with a moist chicken breast in the center marinated with garlicy goodness. The arepa was possibly one of the best I've had, oozing delicious mozzarella cheese. The Cuban sandwich looked great, and he said it tasted amazing, and the yellow rice was fluffy and tender and moist, unlike the mushy, stuck-together rice you find at some places. The restaurant is always packed, but there was plenty of seating and very helpful, friendly staff who brought your food to you. The wait for food was a bit long, but completely worth it for delicious, authentic food cooked to order. My only regret was not trying one of the pastries or empanadas that looked amazing, but I'll definitely be back. Oh, and they're open till 9 and everything is veryaffordable!

I don't understand the name...does this mean that it's Cuban fast food? Do I really care?? No, not really....because the food is darn good. :) The media noche hits the spot for me. I like ham, cheese and of course, when you press it between cuban sweet bread...it's the perfect way to hold together the salty ham, gooey, creamy cheese that has your mouth watering for more at every bite. *Note to self: Their potatoe balls are addicting. Their big, inexpensive, so you might as well just order one for each person you're with, (or two) so you don't have to share. Cuz you won't want to......and if you're polite like me, you have to force through your teeth the words, "It's ok, you should take the last bite" when you don't really mean it. It's a constant battle of which wins...being polite, or honest?? Not fair :) Plenty of pastry choices...I've had them all. My tip for everyone else, wait for the fresh ones to come out. I had a mix of older and newer ones and the ones sitting under the heat lamp were pretty dry.

Yum yum yum. This gay boy loves some Cuban and they have the best in town. While the atmosphere leaves a little to be desired (it's a skeezy type diner), the food more than makes up for it. And really, what's most important? The food. The do have a dozen or so tables, so it's great for a quick lunch and you can eat in. Have the pork and the platanos. The place is always packed at lunch, yet somehow there is not a line and it doesn't take forever. Their doing something right.

Hole in the wall at its best! If you haven't eaten Chicharrons before, or haven't had them Cuban style, do yourself the favor of stopping in here. It's a full-fat item, but worth every bite. Homemade hot sauce, bread, mojo sauce all paired up with pork done right. Probably hitting this place a second time before I jet.

It's amazing that having spent my childhood and teenage years living in South Florida, it took me 26 years to truly appreciate Cuban food. My first experience with it was Black Bean Deli's daily lunch special. Hands-down, it was the best Cuban sandwich and black bean soup I ever had. I was in heaven. Then, on a whim, I went to Cuban Sandwiches on the Run. It happens to be closer to where I live in Casselberry and I was in the mood for a Cuban, so I headed over. Again, on a whim, I tried the media noche and black bean soup. To say it was amazing would be an understatement! The sweet bread changes the entire flavor of the sandwich and you could tell it was all fresh. The bread was warm, but not crispy and burnt, which makes for the perfect pressed sandwich. The soup was very well spiced and not overwhelmingly hot. The service was great, as well. The ordering process was simple and the staff was very attentive, even as the lunch rush came in. Even with a line ten people deep, I got the sense they still cared about little ol' me, which is a great quality to have as a small restaurant. I only give it 4-stars because I want to try more things on the menu (empanadas, yucca, red beans). The first impression will have me coming back for more and more!

My wife and I have driven by this ugly looking place but 2 weeks ago we broke down and went in to try the Cuban sandwich. OMG! It was by far the best we ever had. Great service and the hot food aroma will drive you nuts. Very basic tables but it was clean. We will be going back.

I just thought it was ok. The cuban sandwich was alright - on fresh Cuban bread but it wasn't mind-blowing. I would go back and try the items in the buffet area. The cafe con leche was great. I also had an empanada and it was pretty greasy. That being said, I would definitely still eat there again. Sometimes, you just need greasy food.

I have only been here once and not quite sure why. First of all, I LOVE cuban sandwiches. I had the authentic Cuban sandwich and I gobbled it all up. I love this whole in the wall spot. It's terrific. Go here!

Loved this place for our Cuban food item during our vacation. Things we tried and would recommend - Cafe con Leche ( 1-2 sugars for a small) - Lechon sandwhich ( Highly recommended over the cuban, much more flavor) - Potato ball with ground meat and cheese - Espresso Things that were ok - Cuban sandwich - Arepa Pass - black beans and rice Everyone was super friendly and helpful, the prices are so spot on for great tasting, authentic food ( as authentic as an asian girl from the west coast knows). I loved their coffee so much Boyfriend got me another one to-go along with a guava pastry which was delicious. our bill was roughly $26ish before the take out stuff, and we were stuffed.

What do we have here... ANOTHER Cuban joint? Yes, but all Cuban sandwiches are not created equal. I'll admit, the politically incorrect name is what drew me to this place (as Trevor pointed out). Although, for it to REALLY be politically incorrect, wouldn't it have to be Mexicans on the run (stereotypes, they're doing it wrong)? I digress. Like most Cuban sandwich establishments (or, shanties), they are located in a very unassuming strip mall next to the Sign-O-Saurus (teehee). Their sandwiches are incredible, and it starts with their succulent Cuban bread. I've had most of the sandwiches on the menu: traditional Cuban, steak and cheese, chicken, turkey, and THE main event: their version of roasted pork is other worldly; fresh sliced pork, onions, swiss, mojo (lime), & mayo. It should come with a disclaimer: schedule nap time after consumption. Not in the mood for a sandwich? First, what's wrong with you, and second, their dinner plates are equally good. The chicken is fall-off-the-bone-tastic, the pork is tender, and the plantains & black beans and rice are as good as it gets. The only reason it doesn't get that coveted fifth star is their fried goods are consistently soggy, and that's unfortunate. It seems they cook their potato balls, empanadas, and croquettes early, then put them under the heat lamp, a no-no in my book. So if you can catch them right out of the fryer, by all means. If you're in the area and want something quick and tasty, look no further.

Having tried other Cuban places, the Cuban sandwich is good, but not great. What draws me to this place is their caldo gallego (Spanish soup). I really like it because they have greens (collards?) in the soup. I wish they would put more greens in the soup, but not everyone is freaky over greens like I am. They also have large pieces of chorizo in the soup. Not all Cuban places make/serve caldo gallego, and those that do don't make it as good as Cubans on the Run.

Per the recommendations of other "yelpers", I tried the roast pork and steak sandwiches. Both were great, with the slight nod to the steak. Also got a side order of red beans and rice. Very good. Tried an arepa with cheese. I was surprised at how good this was. Like a Cuban grilled cheese. For dessert we tried the churros and flan. They also have a mini cafeteria bar. The guy behind the counter gave me sample of the ropa vieja. And it was really good. The service was really friendly, and helpful. As Arnold once said, "I'LL BE BACK!"

This place is awesome. Everyone is always atypically friendly, the food is amazing, and I love that the sandwiches are compact so you can eat them while you're driving! It's in-and-out if you call ahead, and the price is right.

Cuban Sandwiches On The Run is a consistently great spot for a wide variety of Cuban standards at ridiculously cheap prices. The Cuban sandwich, black beans, and rice are all top notch. The other sandwich offerings including Media Noche and Roast Pork are all crave worthy. The dinner plates of stewed meats (Chicken or Pork Fricasee, Pernil, Steak with onions, and Carne con papas) are all very tasty and ample enough to feed a farm hand, twice. Add in a good Cafe Con Leche and some of the friendliest folks you will ever encounter behind the counter and you have a real winner. I visit Orlando several times a year and always make a point to stop in. Go now you will not be disappointed.

This is a nice little spot to grab a quick, Caribbean lunch. The fried yuca is a must-have for me. The service is quick and the food is good. By beef stew, though, was a little dry from staying under the heat lamp too long. My one complaint. Enjoy!

The Cuban food here is bangin! Came here two days in a row and the owner already knew what I wanted. Large Cuban and chicken over rice w/ beans and plantains! The portions here are excellent and the prices are perfect. The service here is outstanding and the guys who work in here are friendly. It must be a Florida thing to be friendly to one another. The menu is very simple. It's not complex and filled with a bunch of junk like most New York City menus. I'm definitely coming back here next time when I'm in Florida. Now time to drive home to NEW YORK!

Crusty bread, mouthwatering meats, sweet plantains, black beans and rice. Cubans on the run serves up some delicious sandwiches. They have some really great bread and that sets the stage for the meats that adorn the sandwiches. I'm of fan of both their cuban steak sandwich and their roasted pork sandwich. When a craving strike the food is so good I will drive all the way out to cassleberry for it, I live in (south orlando). Don't forget the black beans and plantains, they are equally delicious.

Cuban Sandwiches On the Run is an amazing lunch spot. The prices are reasonable and the quality is consistent. I definitely recommend the steak & cheese sandwich and sweet plantains. If you have never tried Cuban Coffee, try the Coffee con Leche. You won't be disappointed!

I don't know - maybe I went on an off day. The service was completely rude, and it took FOREVER to get my food. The food was decent, but the atmosphere ruined it. I even bought a Living Social or similar deal (to give them a second chance) and ended up letting it expire because I never felt like going in there and dealing with it. Maybe it has improved. It's a shame because they are one of the closest restaurants to my house.

Just got home from coming here for the first time! It was awesome. The sandwiches came out really hot and fresh. The bread is amazing! It's crunchy but soft at the same time. They accidentally forgot to ring up my fries when I ordered them. I work in a restaurant too so I know things get forgotten sometimes so I wasn't too worried about it. I told one of the guys that I had ordered fries and didn't get any and they made them immediately. In a couple minutes they brought them out, extremely hot and fresh. So hot, I couldn't even eat them yet! And because they forgot, they gave us some pastries too. I thought that was really nice of them! All in all, everything was delicious. Very filling. And it's just down the road so we'll definitely be coming in again another time! :)

I wanted to like this place. I heard it was amazing, and came running right away. I was disappointed. The pork sandwich was so salty I couldn't eat it, and the chicken soup was just okay. However, I'd give a 5 star rating to the guava pastry I had there, which was out of this world. I may have to try something else, but as a Cuban myself, I can tell you that this is not the best Cuban food I've ever had.

From the outside the place doesn't look like much. It reminds me of an old convenience store but the food is phenomenal! Definitely worth a stop. The sandwiches are some of the best I've ever had. I would also highly recommend the fried plantains. Not a place to take a date and sit down for dinner but if you want an awesome lunch it's worth the trip.

As a Cuban born and raised in Miami. I was so excited to eat here. I have been craving for a cuban sandwich! I had a croqueta preparada sandwich and my husband had un Pan Con Bistec. My sandwich was pretty good I would have liked it pressed a little longer and the cheese a little more melted. My husbands sandwich didn't really taste like a pPan Con Bistec. It was more like a Philly cheese steak on cuban bread. You can tell that they are not Cuban owners. But over all it killed my craving for a cuban sandwich. But next time I will just go home to La Carreta for one lol.

Great place. Awesome staff, fast service, amazing food. Even if you aren't a fan of Cuban food, this place will change your mind. The namesake Cuban sandwich is delicious but the real crown jewel is the roast pork. Order it with yellow rice, black beans and plantains then mix the black beans in with the rice and pork and smother with their homemade hot sauce. You're welcome.

good cuban food on the go. its really a lunch time diner, with good seating and some booths. outdoor seating with shade. croquetas, red and black beans with rice and arepas and plantains. chicken empanadas are good not great, not consistent. like I said it serves food i can eat quick and fast and enjoy. Super friendly staff haven't had problem yet.

Went here for the first time last night. I got the cuban and my bf got the steak & cheese. We also got the seasoned fries and sweet plantains. The bf liked his steak & cheese and really liked the seasoned fries. I LOVED my cuban, probably the best I've ever had. I would've liked the plantains, but they were pretty cold. We'll definitely be back. I'm being told that next time I need to try the pinapple soda.

We've eaten at this place now four times just to be sure it's as good as we think. What's been most surprising is that maybe it even gets BETTER. It is AWESOME! At least tied for the BEST Cuban sandwiches in all of Central Florida! (Black Bean Deli being the other) Can't wait to go back! YUM! :-)

I am very boring when it comes to my food choice. But the few things I do order, this place did great on. It's hard to mess up on Arepas, beans and rice and cafe con leche. But i have had some strange food excuses in the past. I stopped in the restaurant last week and was impressed with how inexpensive everything was and also how good the staples were. I was a little intimidated by all the clientele. These people were hard working men and women on their lunch breaks, and yes, sometimes one person does need a giant table all to themselves. So I had to take my dainty little meal outside and eat it. Other than the lack of tables during the busy rush hour lunch time, I think this is a great place to go. Good job Cuban food restaurant.

I relocated from Cassleberry, FL to Virginia and this is one of the places I really miss the most. Their roast pork pernil is DELICIOUS. I usually get it with beans, yellow rice, and sweet plantains. The portions are huge and you definitely get your moneys worth. Be forewarned that this is not a light dish. But it is soooooo good!

  • Erika T.

Cubans on the Run is awesome! I usually get food from their little buffet hot lunch deal. I get the Pork with Red Beans and yellow rice. Always great, and TOO much food!!! omg! They could serve half and that would be plenty. The cuban sandwich and the midnight sandwich are also really good. This is a great place to grab quick lunch and the price won't break your weekly lunch budget!!

  • Brandi B.

Tammy B. is absolutely right. The roast pork sandwich is super-terrific. Cheesy and full of roasted pork with onions. I crave this sandwich even after I've just finished eating it. The maduros are perfect. The beef stew is delicious. The parking lot is tiny and usually full. Loves it!

  • Trevor L.

I heart this place. From the politically incorrect name which is only allowable because it seems that everyone who works there is Cuban to the incredible sandwiches and awesome hot sauce at every table, this is a phenomenal joint. Their bread is an excellent canvas upon which they practice their sandwichy arts. Things you must try: the cuban or medianoche (at your preference), the fried yucca, and the tostones with adobo. Take any combination of them on mix and match and be in caloric-laden heaven. When the weather is stupidly nice as it is today, sit at one of the three outdoor tables and enjoy the afternoon--as long as the road noise from 17-92 doesn't prove too much for you.

This is my "need something quick for dinner" place, as it's close to home. For less than $20 I can get two dinner combos consisting of a meat, rice, beans, and plantains and feed four....usually with some of the rice and plantains leftover for lunch the next day! They have a wide variety of sandwiches available which they make perfectly. My husband and boys LOVE the traditional Cuban. I think it's okay, but that's only because I'm not a fan of pickles. The roast pork sandwich is my fave. Tender chunks of juicy pork, sauteed onions, and mojo sauce grilled to perfection. On our last visit I decided to mix things up and try the Elena Ruth; roast turkey with guava paste and cream cheese and it was also fantastic. I did add some hot sauce to it, but I like the combo of sweet/spicy and cream cheese. The guave pastry is also incredible with a light, flaky crust with just enough sugar that the outside layer sticks to your fingers and the empanadas rock (I prefer the chicken as it's less fatty). This is a great place to pick up a quick dinner or lunch to go. Seating is very limited (8 tables maybe) and it fills up quickly.

I get the empanadas (beef), beef stew on rice (huge servings), and papas rellenas (potato balls). Always good, and cheap.

Great place for affordable on the go and take out. I love the potato balls, the cuban cafe is the best, I love the Midnight sandwhich. If you got ten bucks in your pocket you can get the pork and onions, stewed beef, or stewed chicken, with yellow or white rice, black beans or red beans, and sweet plantains, all are real delicious. I like to go there at least twice a week just for the potato balls and cuban coffee. They have other good pastries. If you try it you likely won't be disappointed.

Hands down, best Cuban food around! My husband and I eat here nearly every weekend, either for lunch on Saturday (the steak and cheese Cubans are the best ever!) or for take out dinner on Friday nights. The dinner portions are huge! I can't finish them. My husband finished it once, but regretted it. LOL! The people who work there are so nice and friendly and I love how they call me Mami! :)

I stopped by this place for years simply for the cuban sandwiches. Then I graduated to the other items and I became truly hooked. The black beans and rice are far from memorable.. Other than that, everything here is great. They do magic with pork, the soups are great, and both the potato balls and plantains are addictive.

Cubans on the Run consistently creates fantastic lunch fare at reasonable prices. I rarely order anything other than their Cuban Sandwich or a Medianoche with a side of sweet plantains, but I have never been disappointed. The restaurant's croquettes, arepas and potato balls are also great and make fantastic choices for those with more mild pallets.
