Service/Atmosphere -- 5 stars. This is the quintessential small-town breakfast spot where everyone (customers, owner, servers, etc...) knows each other and has a friendly banter throughout. Food - 4 stars. I mean, it's breakfast, without any frills, so it's hard for me to give 5 stars. IMO - preparing 'average' food perfectly is much more admirable than trying to make 'exciting' food but missing the mark. I had the farmhouse (or barn door, or something along those lines) breakfast. 2 eggs, over crispy home fries (hash B looked good too, but I opted for Home F), with some sausage gravy in between to act as the perfect binding agent. Oh yeah, and a biscuit. Oh yeah, and it was only $5! Sooooo.....if you find yourself in Brooksville, FL - go to Rooster's Cafe and enjoy.

Very local place a lot of the customers knew each other. My husband and I went for breakfast it was ok nothing to write home about. My husband had country fried steak with eggs. It was good big chunks of sausage in the gravy. I had bacon and eggs the bacon was awesome but I think they use artificial eggs when you order scrambled ( which I thought was kinda gross ) Very reasonable prices for the 2 of us it was $16.00.

Went here for dinner with my youngest one evening, and we returned the next morning for breakfast, as my wife was out of town and my laziness is legendary. The service was outstanding and the food was delicious. Weirdest hours of any restaurant on Earth though. Only open one night a week (Friday) for dinner. The other days they close at 2pm. Too bad because we would be here quite a bit for dinner, it was that good.

Good breakfast and good prices. Nothing over the moon to write home about but if it's generic breakfast you want quick and cheep from some friendly folks. Stop in. If you are a foodie and want more A more adventurous menu... Shop around there are other places in town.

This is about as country as you can get. Lots of elderly folks and local ones as well. I had the Barnyard special and I was very pleased. They even have Fried Green Tomatoes!!! I will have to try that sometime!!!!

Portions were small and left not feeling full. Even my 5 year old who doesn't eat very much said she was still hungry after leaving. My other daughter had apple sauce as a side and it was bad. It smelled and tasted sour. Apple sauce takes forever to go bad, so how old was this apple sauce? $25 later before tip for 2 adults and 2 kids that left hungry is ridiculous. We were the only people in the joint that were under 50, so that should've been a red flag when we walked in.

My grandfather lives in the "thriving metropolis" of Brooksville, Florida, and we usually have to eat at a chain buffet restaurant that I loath when we visit him. We've been to a few other Brooksvillian restaurants over the years, and there are a few descent places to eat in this tiny community. Some are good. Some are really bad. However during our most recent trek for the North, we got to go to Rooster's Cafe, and I have designated this restaurant as "pretty gosh darn great!" Many of the patrons are retirees who all seem to know each other, and the restaurant is filled with a collection of rooster paraphernalia that ranges from the adorable to the hilarious. My husband & I both had omelettes, which were large, fluffy, and not greasy, and our server was friendly and wonderfully efficient. If this place were in Chicago, there would be a line out the door for brunch every Sunday morning. In the future, I will beg my grandfather to go to Rooster's Cafe instead of the grotesque chain buffet restaurant. Why put me through gastronomical Hell when Rooster's Cafe is just down the street?

Excellent and prompt service, clean restaurant. Food was generic. No complaints. Would dine again.
