I've been here a couple of times. They have good food but not great food. They also have a good variety of foods and drinks. There's something for everyone here. A place mostly aimed for the younger crowd but suits all ages.

The service at Green Iguana has definitely fallen down since the move to the new location on Lumsden. We were seated right away, and got our drinks, but nothing else. I watched all the waitresses hang out with the hostess, and play with each others hair, for 20 minutes. No one ever came to take our order. So after wasting 20 minutes we left with having never ordered.

To be fair, I have never tried their food. I went here because of the good reviews. It was a Monday night at 6:30pm and I was informed I would have to pay a $5 cover. Really! It's Monday evening at 6:30! Apparently this is not the place for locals to have a drink and enjoy dinner after work.

My job recently moved from downtown to Brandon. My coworkers and I decided to do happy hr here. They had never been to this location. A drunk at a bar got loud, obnoxious and threw his chair towards one of my coworkers. It hit her arm and the guy stormed off. A guy who I think was a manager came out and said that his bartender came to get him from the kitchen since he missed the incident. He apologized and then stated it's not like him (the drunk that threw chair). He's a regular. I don't know what happened that you girls set him off. Excuse me?!?! The guy was drunk?!?! The ladies next to our table said, "the guy out of nowhere got up and threw the chair at them. That guy was crazy" The people sitting at the bar were like WTF?! Guy was crazy. The "manager" said. He's a regular so I'm going to let him stay inside. And that way he will be away from you. I said no problem. Keep your regular violent patron. We won't come back. Then he said sorry. What I'll do is let him finish his beer and then he will have to go. Are u effing kidding me. When the girls and I left the guy was still there drinking. Terrible!

We have been three times now during regular restaurant hours and are not impressed with the service or food quality. We are always told to wait. Even if the place is totally empty the first thing out of the hostess mouth is ok wait right here and I'll see what we have available. It is as if we catch them off guard and they have to go figure out who wants to take another customer. This is a serious issue management, and I hope you are reading this. You have to make sure your staff is well trained, informed, and working together as a team. Time spent at the hostess station while your staff figures out who is ready is terrible first impression. You are basic running two businesses, restaurant during the day and a bar at night. Train your staff for each business model. Atmosphere is very nice at this location and the music is always pretty good.

This location move to Brandon. It is located where Zapps used to be next to Buffalo Wild Wings and square 1 burgers

The food is okay, the prices are the same as any franchise in the area (Chili's, Applebee's, etc). We came here at dinner time and the lighting was pretty dark. It seems like a great place for after work drinks, but not great for busy dinner time. Very loud atmosphere - had a hard time hearing my spouse. Not a place that I'd bring kids, but you definitely can. Service was nice but really slow. I highly doubt that we'll come back.

This is a cool neighborhood place to have some drinks, listen to some live music, & grab some food! Good choice of beers on draft too! Only a few issues for me that are reasons why I don't come here more frequently. 1. Why can't you have plain turkey burgers as an option for burgers? The turkey burger patty has pieces of peppers in it.....I won't order it for that reason. I don't eat beef so that limits a big part of the menu for me. 2. The fries need to be jazzed up a bit. I agree with another reviewers comment that they aren't any different than what I can get in the freezer & make at home 3. There seems to always be a wait to be seated. Not sure if its the times/ days that we tend to come but have noticed this. Other than that, would recommend!

I've enjoyed going to this green iguana for years. My husband , a friend and I met here for dinner on a week night this week. I started my order with a Malibu drink that was suggested on some sign, the waitress told me they didn't even know what that was and that Malibu gave them free product to put a sign up. She could try to make it but it wouldn't have all the same ingredients. It was awful and lacked anything from the sign except Malibu. Plus it cost me almost 6 bucks. The menu has a very limited selection in my opinion. I ordered a chicken Cesar wrap which was decent but very watery. My husband had a burger which he raved about - they are really the only thing worth ordering. My friend had hummus and pita bread. The hummus was terrible as the pita bread was stale. We never got a Chance to complain because our server was not around. When she did surface we just paid and left. Mind you it was not busy. The place is decent, pretty clean and cute tiki decor. I enjoy the live music. Overall I was pretty disappointed in my visit. I would go back but only for a burger.

I came to Green Iguana for the club part on Wednesday night (if you want to read my food review go to my last review...my rating is an average of both). The bouncer at the door was a friendly guy (no wonder he was making some tips). Once we got in the music was playing at a good volume it was Top 40s/Hip-Hop that was easy to enjoy. We had a few drinks here. Bartenders here were friendly as well and quick to make your drinks. The mixed drinks had a good taste to them. The place had a mixed crowd there was older and younger people around and all kinds of styles. Overall pretty fun and still chill.

We stopped in for lunch yesterday and were very pleased. My husband and I split the Adobo Mixed Grill and it was absolutely delicious. Add the cold beer and it was just what we were looking for! We were impressed!

Chicken wings are bomb here!!!! Fun music and 2 for 1 night! Plenty of parking. Had a great time when I was here!
(5)Kelley L.
Very cool place. Doesn't come alive until later in the evening.

I'll write about what I remember, which, let's face it, isn't much. I was pretty wasted by the time I walked into this joint. BUT! I do remember the drinks being good. A lot of creepy guys watching me...and well, some real pop/Top 40 type music (not really my style). Other than that? Not real memorable, and I don't think being sober would have helped that. Haha. :)

I went to Green Iguana to have lunch and meet up with some friends. Parking is a cinch, the restaurant was quiet for a Sunday afternoon, we choose to sit outside, great option with the vegetation and fans which keep the summer heat at bay. This is a good place to grab a wrap, salad or burger with a fun atmosphere. They usually boast live music, which is usually a singer with an acoustic guitar. The live music was pretty good the day we were there. The food was good and the service was a little on the slow side but friendly none the last. I recommend this place if you are looking for a casual place to sit and listen to live music and grab a burger or a drink.
(3)Edward P.
The food was delicious, but the service was so bad, I'm not rushing back. I think it's because I didn't order alcohol. She was very slow to return to the table, had to ask for the drink to be refilled. Waiting for the check for over 15 minutes. Another 15 minutes for my debit card to be processed. If ur looking for cleavage on the staff, this is the place. I just wanted something to eat.

Let me start off by saying this, "I gave this place a second chance before writing this review." I took my fiancée and our 1 year old for lunch after running around town. We were hungry and thought that since it was lunch time and they weren't that busy that we'd be in and out. I was really wrong! We stood at the hostess stand waiting to be seated as she ignored us and was texting and facebooking on her phone. After we nicely asked to be seated she took us to a table as if we were putting her out and walked off rudely. Ordered our drinks and waited as the bartenders foul mouth could be heard across the place as she ranted and joked with a few friends of hers sitting at the bar. The waiter took our food order (we've been in this place already 30 minutes now) and dashed off. The food came out and was seriously crap! Guess the chef or cook doesn't know what Medium Rare is on a burger. After we ate we sat for 30 minutes waiting to get the check from our waiter whom disappeared from sight. Never once did he come back to ask if we needed a refill or anything. I will never spend my money in this dump of a place ever again.

The prices are very reasonable. I had steak & Shrimp for $13.00. The portion size was generous and the taste was great. Happy hour wine was $2.33 per glass. Service was very good as well. Things are much improved in this new location. I'll be back!! Free wifi as well.

We went with a party of 55! They did a great job balancing everyones drinks and food orders. The staff was helpful and made the experience easy for us. They gave us the whole outside seating area which was a nice perk and they gave us three waitresses. The sangria was OK and the wings were ok as well. It was glorified bar food, the drink specials were not that great either. $2.50 Corona and $2.50 PBR are not the best deals for a happy hour. Don't think I'll be going back for happy hour anytime soon.

This is a really cool bar and Brandon and cool bar doesn't seem to go together. However, this was the exception that disproves the rule. Huge inside barn type bar area with a big stage. A decent band was playing there the night we were there. Huge tvs scattered all around so it also has a sports bar type feel to it too. Great selection of beer, friendly and knowledgable staff too. The outside patio are was very nice albeit a little small. People watching was just average, however. It is boring Brandon, you know? Oh yeah, and I got a free drink for checking in here so thanks, Yelp! Will definitely be back.

The worst service I have ever had...food is good..but it will be hard to go back after today. Waited 20 minutes just to get something to drink..we were there at 2:40pm..the lunch crowd had left so no excuse for why it took so long for the server to come to our table. Took another 10 minutes to get out drinks and 20 minutes later the server asked if we wanted to order. We ordered an appetizer and that was another 20 minutes before the appetizer got to the table! Half the portion of appetizer that we usually are server too..very disappointing..Finally, the server from the kitchen brought us water...which we asked for when we ordered our drinks. The server that took out food order somehow disappeared..It took an hour before we got our entree.. our server was outside on the patio chatting...totally forgot about our order. Good grief! The service sucked today...
(2)Richard L.
Good food little busy on fridays after work when you just want to go get something to eat with friends after work. Even though if your wanting a beer or Wine there's specials only for wine or bud light :( no good
(2)Gary G.
Much better service and quick turnout of food tonight. Sounds like some changes were made in the kitchen and with some staff. Some new menu items coming soon. Love their burgers and seafood. Good experience tonight.

Even though I live close to the Green Iguana on Westshore Blvd in Tampa, tonight I had my first experience at the location in Brandon. It was a friend's birthday and we had a large party so we were please to be accommodated as walk ins a little after 7 pm. We were seated at a long table on the side of the dance floor area for later in the night. And that's when the waiting began. It was a good 10 minutes before our server came over to get our drink orders. And then we waited some more. When our drinks came we all put in our food orders. And it took well over half an hour before anything came out. With no one really checking on us or refilling our waters. The restaurant didn't even seem busy, it just seemed like there were only three servers for the entire place. When the food did come, it was delicious. I had the Mambo King burger and it was very tasty. Unfortunately it took forever for our server to come back, for us to tell her we were ready for our checks, and then pay and leave. Our server was very courteous, so there's no complaints about the quality of service when we actually had someone at our table. In conclusion, the food and atmosphere were great. We just experienced it for way longer than we intended to. Great burger, but the wait was pretty bad.

A pretty decent place close to work for happy hour. It's a bit hidden away in the Winthrop Town Center so it's not visible from the main road but that adds to its uniqueness. This place also offers something different in the Brandon area that you may find in the mall area. I'd suggest they broaden their Happy Hour offerings to draw in more of a weekday crowd.

My first visit to this Green Iguana was based on Tampa yelpers' recommendations for a great place to get a burger. I was not disappointed! I love the southwest burger. The onion straws are delicious, too. The sweet Caribbean sauce on the wings... mmmmm. The french fries are the only menu item that has disappointed. They taste no different than what you get out of the grocer's freezer. I have returned to the Iguana countless times. I return not only for the good food, but for the atmosphere, the patrons, and the servers. Live music, dj's, karaoke.. something for every fancy. I like the outdoor bar and tables, though I wish they had heaters outside. I enjoy the others that patron the Iguana. I find I can strike up a conversation with anyone near me, which, as a lonely traveling nurse, is the best way I meet the locals. I enjoy the conversation that the servers provide. It's fun that they can share an occasional drink with me, too. They make me feel like they are having as much fun working as I am drinking. I've been acknowledged by the manager, which makes me feel appreciated as a patron and not like just another dollar. In general, if you are looking for a place to have a good burger, you've found it. If you're looking to sing, come on in. If you want to hear some live music, here it is. If you're looking to relax outside with a casual gang, a cold brew, and the game on TV, here is a stool with your name on it.

Not bad! We ordered the cheesiest cheese overdose burger and buffalo mac-n-cheese! Both were quite good: Cheesiest cheese overdose burger - very tender, and fries were surprisingly good. I devoured my half of this. Buffalo mac-n-cheese - really good. The mac-n-cheese were just perfect, not too cheesy and but enough to satisfy my cheesy craving. I always think most places makes this with too much cheese, but this is great. And it just so happens that I really wanted just buffalo wings that day, so the buffalo chicken and was a great replacement.

I wanted to give this place more stars but, there was a long wait time for a waitress to even acknowledge us. Then when we actually stopped a waitress and asked her why we haven't been served she stated that our seating was last and servers serve in order of seating which is fine but the place was no where near packed. Eventually manager approaches us, but by then we decided to go across the street to Applebee's. You might have a different experience but I had the same that most Yelp users had.
(1)Huyen L.
You know they care about their customers when they don't care to have them. Waited over 10 minutes only because we didn't want to wait longer after even walking in the bar area and still not receiving any service. It almost felt like the restaurant was closed, except for the bartender ignoring us. What a terrible atmosphere
(1)Curt W.
The food was surprisingly good and the drinks are a great value. I had the crispy Mahi Mahi with Mango salsa. Which came out nice and hot. This is a relatively new venue...they were not long ago at another location. I was suspect on the relocation...but it works. The live music on Friday evenings has been very good.
(4)Ken C.
Some of the best burgers in Tampa. The Stinky Black & Blue burger has to be my favorite.
(5)Curtis H.
The place is a joke! Went there for lunch, walk in no one around, Bartender comes over seats me and tells me server will be right over. Sit and wait, two other tables in the whole place are occupied so it can't be she's overwork, must just be LAZY.. So I left after waiting awhile,as some of us still have to work to make a living and not playing graba$$,instead of waiting tables. This place has several complaints about lack of service, looks like mgmt doesn't care. Another revolving door restaurant location will be available soon.

Located snugly in the corner of winthrop town center. From the huge standing green iguana outside to all the attire inside you cant not avoid this place. The live music is good but not anything more than that, i think if it was it would be too much for this place. Service was nice and clean. I had the cali baja burger and my wife had the southwest bacon burger. We had previously had these at a yelp event and fell in love with them. They were sliders at the event and these were full size burgers. We both decided they would be better as sliders. The french fries were good and like any other bar food place they were just good old fries. The drink specials were not bad either for the type of joint it was. All in all we have decided to make this a regular when ever were out or have family visit.
(5)Beth S.
Took 30 mins to get our food. The food finally came out tasting very bland and cold. We had to sit through a horrible dj while waiting for our food. The music was overly loud and couldn't hear us talking to each other. Then we had to ask mgr for our check as the waitress kept walking by us. Plus the place smelled like a frat house party. Very disappointing.

I just moved to the Tampa Bay Area and I came here for my first after work Friday happy hour. I was really impressed with the ambiance and the size of the establishment. It was a beautiful day outside (of course) so we decided to sit on the patio. The server was very attentive and took our order right away. I ordered the stacked chicken (sub'ed with mahi yum!) and it was phenomenal... They have really good happy hour specials as well. The service was so good, even the bartender came to check on us. Also, you can't beat getting a free drink for checking in right? I will definitely be back :)
(4)Sam T.
After Alan F. Contacted me promising to have the GM contacts I provided my email and have heard nothing from either of them. Have been back and service staff seems uninterested in customer service much like their management interest in following up. Speaks volumes. Kitchen needs work; raw fish then a few days later on the "redemption" visit I got cold fries. Really cold fries and you knew I had rcvd raw fish a few days earlier?

Went to the new Green Iguana in Brandon by the mall for my 38th birthday on Saturday night got there about Ten or so and we could tell we came to the right place the music was loud and the girls aka the wives were ready to dance. The $5 cover for the guys really didn't bother me. I was more pleasantly surprised with drink prices were far better than I would thought in a club like setting. I'm not much of a dancer but the wife managed to get me out there for a few songs. We really did have a good time.
(4)Jodie B.
this place is the pits! do not waste your money....or your time. The food takes 30-40 min to arrive..it's good food, but DONT GO HUNGRY!!! I have been there twice with my family now and I promised them NEVER AGAIN. It's unfortunate, as the location and the food is actually great. The servers are even friendly and very apologetic. What goes on in the kitchen, however, remains to be a mystery.....

Yet another place who, will honor the check-in reward, but who have no knowledge it establishing said reward.
