I am from Maryland. We have great sub shops there. Firehouse is not that but it's better than any chain store sub I've ever had. I love the hot italian, can't get enough of it. The crew is great at the Brandon location. I waited too long to try this place. They blow all the others out of the water. They will make gluten free bowls if is needed.

I love Firehouse. Let's be honest, turkey sandwiches are my 2nd favorite food, and as long as the meat is not nasty quality (I'm looking at you, Subway), I'm game. Quizno's, Which Wich, and Firehouse rank in my top 3, not in any particular order. Around here, we have more Firehouse than the rest, so I get to indulge often. Pros: steaming hot, super fresh. The turkey is smoked, which is usually not my fave but I love it here. They donate a portion of sales to local fire/police/EMS (for example, over $2.5 million to Florida first responders and public safety in April of 2015). I think they also give a discount to uniformed public safety workers (although most places do). You can call ahead or order by app to save time. There is a wide assortment of hot sauces (like 50+) to use. Also salads, chips, cookies, and a Coke Freestyle machine. Generally friendly service. Never a mistake on my order. Cons: And these honestly only pertain to this location. Every time I come in here, the place is a mess. Dirty floors, tables, and counters. The Coke machine seems to be perpetually out of whatever I have a taste for that day. Price is a tad high for serving size. And SLOW. I realize that some of this is the nature of the beast - they don't drop the meat for your sandwich into the steamer until you order it - but I have waited over 15 minutes for a sandwich here at lunch time. Firemen ain't got no time for that! I have not experienced the same degree of slowness at my other 2 regular locations in North Lakeland and West Bradenton. This store, however, is always pretty busy and they always seem shorthanded, so that may account for things. But always yummy. I put up with the wait.

If I had only gotten the pastrami sandwich, I'd probably give them 2 stars. If I had only gotten the chicken bacon ranch sandwich, i'd have given them 4 stars. But I've had both, so 3 stars seemed right. The pastrami is not to be ordered here, it's just not good quality pastrami, period. Rubbery and fatty are words that come to mind. However, the chicken bacon ranch sandwich was excellent. The sauce and the cheese made it, and, of course, it had the bacon in it. If you've never eaten here before, prepare to possibly be yelled at when entering the store. They're shouters here, like at Moe's, and usually belt out a big welcome (entire staff) every time the door opens. It's startling enough when you walk in, but then picture eating in the store while the staff is screaming every 3 minutes.

Great tasting subs, but nothing I'm dying to return for. Everything is reasonably priced so thats a plus. I wish their menu had more variety. I feel like it's the same sandwiches with one or two different ingredients.

Mmmmmmm. Firehouse you are always so good to me. Just had dinner, Smokehouse Beef & Cheddar Brisket...you can never go wrong with this choice!! Reasonable prices, nice-sized sandwiches, delicious warm bread, and many options make this my go-to place for hot subs. Try it out!!

It's Firehouse. Always consistent throughout the chain. I like the subs here. My only complaint is with their ice tea. Its way too weak, always. This particular location also seems to be least enthusiastic about the "Welcome to Firehouse" greeting , always but that's ok, gives hubby and I something to joke about when we eat here and we've been coming here since they opened.

Always delicious, hot, fast, and easy to order. In the Subosphere its one of my favorites. Cons would be limited choices for sure, but that's what makes it easy order and fast movement (as opposed to subway where it takes 10 minutes to order and make a sub it seems). Good choice for picking up multiple subs so you don't have to bring a 10 page document to get a group of subs. Also love the fresh and hot choices, and large portions of meat you get with your sub (not just paying for bread and veggies and a little meat like some sub shops). Always a good lunch stop when in the area.

Very clean and well decorated firehouse theme upon entering. It wasn't busy at all so the service was incredibly fast. It definitely has a Subway feel to the ordering process, but what sub shop doesn't right? They had a lot of different chips to choose from and I LOVE the customizable coca cola machine they had there. There's so many different combinations and flavors you could make - I usually never ever drink soda but I couldn't resist because it was so awesome. The food came out pretty fast and the staff was very polite. I wish they had more bread choices than white or wheat but the white bread was nice and crispy from being heated but still soft on the inside - my favorite. The sandwich was a good size, longer than a 6 inch but smaller than a footlong - however you could go bigger if you wanted. Overall, the sub shop chain had a really nice feel to it and with speedy services and delicious sandwiches, who wouldn't enjoy it :)

This has to be the slowest place I have ever been to. I have been standing here for 20 minutes waiting for a sandwich that only has cheese. It's not even a cooked sandwich. Seriously annoyed.

Hands down favorite sub place around. The atmosphere is fun with the fire fighter theme- they totally roll with It from the table decor to the names of the subs. Who doesn't love a hot sub!? They are by far more unique than subway or jimmy johns or any other sub place. They don't have many bread options but the toppings and wide selection of hot sauces makes up for that- talk about flavor! I love the sub machine with the over 120 drink options but with only one machine it takes forever to get your drink.... But at least you can make it special! Every time I go here it's packed! The customer service is great, I love that they walk your meal to you, it's better than standing around or having a pager. They also do boxed lunches or catering which is always a great addition to any party.

OK I'll give them the fact that they have decent subs and they have a cool drink machine but i don't get the hype.. First off the bread is horrible, and the sauce that they put on everything is not good. but the sandwiches do have a good amount of meats and are tasty in that respect. they toast the bread which I like sometimes, i just think the bread could be alot better. And maybe its just me but i find it annoying when i walk into a place of business and every single employee turns to you and yells "welcome to Firehouse" then when you leave they all have to yell goodbye. I understand being friendly but come on, the only thing worse is when you go to eat and the waiter or waitress sits at your table to take your order. it is overall a good shop but there are better choices out there. (Jimmy John's, Jersey Mike's, or even Lenny's)
