The cheese steak is the real deal! No Steak-ums crap here! !! The burgers are hand made. .. you can just tell and they are delicious. Nothing here appears to be pre made or pre-frozen. The French fries are good, nice with the skin on and real potato taste. .. no oily greasy stuff. Waitress was very sweet. The quality of food and value for the money are spot on.

A small gem in Bradenton! My other half and I tend to dine here every time I am in town for the weekend since I work in Miami during the week! South Philly is a staple for us and we keep coming back for more! The philly sub is simply the best! I had never been a big connoisseur of philly sub until having the one at South Phillies! It is hands down the best I have had since becoming a fan of the philly subs!

Easily the best cheesesteak I ever had. They make them perfectly, fine chopped steak and cheese with the perfect amount of kick. Still thinking about the last one and can't wait for the next one.

South Philly makes the best cheesesteaks around. I'm from south Jersey, so I know my cheesesteaks! The fries are great, too. I try to avoid going right at lunchtime because its so crowded.

One of the best steak sandwiches that I have ever had!! If you can make it down here it's worth it.

We love this place. The best cheese steak sandwich I've ever had. The bad news is they are only open until 8:30pm so for those who like late night munches, forget it. Try them. You won't be sorry.

Great food, service, and pleasant staff. A little spicy with the peppers on steak sandwich. But very tasty.

Had pats king of steaks and geno's in Philly. This is just as good. Nice small place. Very busy at lunch. Always friendly servers and fast service. If you order a cheesesteak you have to get the cherry peppers. You have a choice of chees on it too. They have soup sandwiches ( not just cheesesteak ) and dinner. They also serve beer and wine.

I'm from Philly and I have to say that this place offers the best Philly Cheese Steak outside of Philly. It's a bustling place and the chalkboard offers a lot of other options, but, you came for the cheese steak, right? The fries and onion rings are just great and I understand that the chicken cheese steak is good too. Try it, you'll like it.

I don't understand this places popularity. I ve been several times and the wait staff is usually slow if not about 15 years old. The food is OK, but it's hard to screw up diced chicken and steak. Last visit we had to find a chair for our table and wait 10 minutes to order a diet Coke. The place has about 8 tables, so its not like they didn't know we were there. No beer.

Okay here is the deal. i lived in Philly/South Jersey for 23+ Years, moved to Florida, back to NY then now back to FL. I have YET to find a place that could compare to a TRUE Philly Cheesesteak. First thing I noticed before walking in...the sign on the door that said "AMOROSO" ROLLS. Now if you are from Philly, you know that is step one! I walked in, saw pics of philly and a HUGE Philadelpha Eagles banner...That, even though it's not food, was step two. Finally...the Herrs chips sealed the deal. I couldn't wait to bite into the sandwich. when I finally took the first bite I knew I found my new place. This definitely is a 5 star when compared to the other philly steak places around and a close 4 star when compared to actual steaks from philly. So all in all...you need to be there if you want a TRUE PHILLY in SARASOTA/BRADENTON AREA.

I usually got the chicken philly or steak philly and both were to die for! Delicious!

If your looking for the best chicken cheesesteak hero, then look no further. I go to South Philly everytime I visit my mother in Florida. The place has great burgers, heros and salads. My favorite is the chicken cheesesteak with chicken and cheese only and a side of fries. It's not exactly included in your Weight Watchers program, but moderation is key (or at least thats what I like to tell myself when I eat like a slob). The place is very small, probably 10 tables and a small coutner top and there is usually a wait during lunch hours, but it is definately worth it.

I'm visiting family this week; and while this may not be Passyunk Ave, for coastal Florida, it could be worse. Apparently, my family gets take out from South Philly every Friday night (just remember to consider where we are). I have never seen the inside of the restaurant, so I can only comment on the take out. Tonight, my brother had the pizza and onion rings; I had the turkey & provolone hoagie; my mother chose the cheese steak calzone; and my father went with the all-the-meat calzone. My parents spoke highly of the calzones; in fact, my father compared his with one from Baronda's in Atlanta. He seems to favor the South Philly edition, so that's a big high five for South Philly. My brother will eat pizza like there is no tomorrow, so I wasn't going to take his word for it. He loves it, but at 14 - well you get the idea. I tried a slice - it was okay. There was a dearth of sauce but the cheese had a nice flavor. The dough was bleeh - I'm pretty sure it's not made fresh on site. We also had some toasted ravioli as an appetizer and it was way over cooked (and frozen anyway). My turkey hoagie was horrible. It was topped with some oil & vinegar, tomatoes, and lettuce. It was overstuffed, which didn't help the matter. The bread was old (not stale but getting there) and the turkey was garden variety. If the bread was that bad, what do you think that says about the vegetables? I seem to remember eating here last time I was in town. I had a cheese steak then and it was pretty tasty. All things considered, it's a decent way to fill your belly in a pinch. Stick with the unhealthy stuff and you'll be fine.

Great cheesesteak, love this place. Huge portions at a great price. The chicken Philly is awesome but still love the original Philly with hot peppers and onion. Service is always friendly.

Best casual dining on the west side. No better cheesesteak in America! A MUST if you're on the way to/from the beach. I've had everything on the menu at least once and no bad comments on any of the food. If you go during the lunch rush, expect to wait.
