We were pleasantly surprised when we walked in this place! We thought it was a fast food type of restaurant. We were outside looking at the menu when a very nice young lady named Angel came outside and started talking to us and convinced us to come inside. The Crab Rangoon was the best I've had anywhere! My husband had the sushi dinner, I had the beef teriyaki rice bowl. The teriyaki sauce was really sweet but good. I think we will come back and try other things, but definitely get the crab rangoon!

After seeing 4 stars on Yelp for Rice Bowl, Gabriel and I decided to give it a shot for dinner since it's pretty close to our house. When we arrived, we found a sort of diner-looking restaurant with nondescript booths, and dim lighting...but hey, what can you really expect in a strip mall asian restaurant? We decided to each order an entree- they both came with salads and rice, and to share an order of edamame and an order of Japanese vegetable rolls. When we asked for the vegetable rolls, the waiter was clearly very confused and had not heard of that before. Huh? Really? Isn't that a totally common sushi item? I guess not. He asked what should go in it and we told him that it's usually a combination of cucumber, pickled vegetables and avocado. It was eh...the sushi rice was kind of old tasting and the ginger was icky...the veggies were alright, but nothing special. The edamame was fine- but it's pretty tough to mess that up unless you really over cook it. The salad was pretty bad. Waaaaay too much mayo-y dressing over iceburg. Lame. I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised when it came to my entree. I had the Tropical seafood rice bowl which was shrimp, salmon and fresh veggies in a sweet and sour type sauce. The seafood was much fresher than I expected, and the veggies were cooked perfectly. It was a generous portion and really quite good overall. Although I wasn't impressed with the apps, or the atmosphere, I liked my entree a lot and the price was super reasonable. I don't think I'd go eat there again, but I would definitely do take out.

Just ate there for the first time. Extremely friendly and helpful staff for helping you choose. My son had the teriyaki rice bowl. Loved the beef and extremely tender!! Huge meal and really enough for two!! He did not care for the white rice, just a matter of taste. I had the Hawaiian island chicken and also loved it!! We ordered to go and it was still very hot after driving 30 minutes. Definitely recommend.

The Rice Bowl Asian House at Creekwood Plaza is the best. The sushi is fresh with large servings. The General Tso's and Sezchuan Chicken bowls are delicious with plenty of chicken. Love the hot and sour soup! The staff were friendly and very attentive. It was raining and what also impressed me is a young worker escorted my family with an umbrella to our car!!!

I've been here a number of times, and I'm enjoying it more and more. The blackened fish, the pork, all very good, always cooked properly and tasty. The veggies are perfectly cooked and the service is always good. Tried the noodle soup with tofu the other night and loved it. Good broth and good ingredients. This place is growing on me. Give it a try. LIke I said in my first review once they have the kinks worked out I'll give them 4 stars. Guess, what? The kinks are worked out.

First timer: Kung pow chicken with brown rice extra spicy was excellent. We also ordered orange chicken with brown rice. That was really good too. Asked for no MSG perhaps they do not use but still asked. The hot and sour soup was amazing I would eat here again! Thank you for being open on Christmas Day.

This place is pretty good. I usually order the chicken tempura or the sweet potato tempura. Both are really good. Their lunch special: 2 rolls for $7.50 is awesome. Their portions are also really big. Can't eat all of it in one sitting, so I recommend sharing. The wait staff is very friendly and greets you at the door as soon as you come in. I'm a big fan of the overall feel of the place as well.

I was in a rush for lunch and was convinced by the server to dine in while I was reviewing their menu outside. For a restaurant that serves asian style dishes and sushi I found it very surprising when I asked the server if they had any rolls that had crawfish, and she responded with a puzzled look and asked "what is crawfish?" Right away I was very iffy about ordering anything but since I was short on time, I had a lunch special and ordered spicy crab roll and spicy tuna roll. The spicy crab roll was comparable to other places I've dined but I wasn't a big fan of the spicy tuna and I just couldn't pin point exactly why. I ate my meal with a dab of soy sauce, wasabi and spicy mayo per roll and left. I rate the customer service 5 star but overall 3 star only because they didn't server any rolls with crawfish and later that day I was on the toilet with a fever and cold sweat feeling like I was about to die from my stomach pains. I'm sure it was an isolated incident, it's too bad it had to happen to me.

Outstanding!!! The fried rice was delish....the wonton soup was the best my wife has ever had. My orange chicken was moist, tender and a real treat. Will be going back for more. Best I've had in years.

Over a year later and I'm still rating 5 stars. You can't best the price of the lunch sushi rolls. Local teppen-yaki style Japanese steakhouse's sushi doesn't compare to Rice Bowl's. Always fresh, always delicious and very friendly staff.

I love this place. The menu is not as big as your typical Chinese food menu. It has the best lo mein I have had south of China Town in NY. The crab ragoons are top notch. Every thing is always very fresh and perfectly cooked and seasoned. They have a nice sushi bar and great lunch specials. The staff is always very courtesies and attentive.

  • Lydia L.

I come here almost weekly! GOOD and CHEAP sushi for the adults! And the kids LOVE their rice and noodle dishes! Their Kani Salad and their seaweed salads are HUGE!!! You can NOT beat the price here! The staff is friendly, the place is clean! Can't go wrong! It's NOT a fancy place, so if you are looking to impress a first date, this is probably not the place for you... but if your date works out, come back here for your 3rd or 4th date when you are more comfortable with each other and you can be yourself and relax ;)

I quite like this charming little place. It's not exactly authentic, but it for sure isn't like regular chinese fast food. It's way better. It has it's own little quirk. They have the actual healthy brown rice, which they cook perfectly (most places are either too dry or too flavorless if they actually have it) All of their seafood (grouper; salmon, shrimp, etc) are always cooked perfectly moist. Blackened grouper is my mom's favorite, but mine is anything salmon. Everyone there are always so nice. I heard they recently added a sushi bar to the restaurant... I will definitely need to try that next time.

Went in for lunch on a whim with the husband and baby & have been going back almost every week (usually for takeout). I had the shrimp lomein and hubby had shrimp fried rice the 1st time we went in. Very fresh and flavorful! Not your average chinese food!!! Another bonus is now every time we dine in or get takeout, the one waitress always remembers us, plays with our son and makes us feel right at home, which is nice since we are new to the area!

The absolute best Chinese food and sushi I have ever had. This place rocks! Don't go anywhere else!

  • Erica M.

Absolutely delicious! My husband and I just recently moved to the area and were finding an extremely hard time finding great chinese/sushi in the area that compared to back home and this is exactly what we were looking for. Christie, our waitress every time is absolutely the best. Haven't had anything I haven't enjoyed tremendously and the service is outstanding every time. We got at least 2-3 times a week. Definitely a must-go in Bradenton!

  • Erin H.

I love this place! They have a fantastic sushi lunch special. I have tried most of the things on the menu and my favorites are sweet and sour chicken, fried rice, and chicken with vegetables. The egg rolls here are sooo good. I eat here at least once a week.

  • Christopher J.

You can't go wrong eating here. Everything is good and fresh. General Tso's Chicken is my favorite, made with all white meat chicken and very little breading. The sauce is the perfect consistency with just the right amount of heat. Best Asian food I have had since my move from DC. Their sushi is top notch and very fresh. The beef and broccoli is made with steak and not some random mystery beef. Vegetables are always fresh and yummy. The service is always great. Very attentive and nice people. If you want a sushi recommendation, other than the obviously safe California Roll, the Amazing Tuna Roll is the way to go.

  • Shey C.

Place seems to have fallen off. The ingredients have gone to frozen from fresh. Can't really recommend it anymore for sushi or anything else. I guess they are trying to survive by lowering the quality of the food, but it's a bummer because the place really stood out for a while.

  • Anne Janet A.

Great place to get healthy & tasty food at a very reasonable price. I've been here a few times for dinner & always had a good experience. The teriyaki chicken and shrimp are great with the brow rice (the Tokyo delight rice bowl). The rice bowls also come with a salad to start. Waiters are always friendly & food is ready fairly fast.

Fresh and tasty. Clean and priced right. So excited we finally found good Asian food in Bradenton!!! Loved the aping rolls and homage sauces were delicious. We'll be back soon! Sylvia the owner is real friendly and I live that !!!

I was surprised by the food offered here. The beef lomein was surprisingly good and decently priced. The beef is cooked perfectly and very tender. They closed at 9pm when I came by on a weekday. Give it a try if you want some asian food.

  • Jean T.

The lo mien bowls my husband and I ordered (one shrimp, one chicken) were quite tasty. However, my only complaint was that the vegetables were such tiny pieces one could hardly taste them. And when I say tiny, I mean like a 1/4 inch piece of green for broccoli. Since there wasn't much chicken for the price, I would have enjoyed a few more vegetables, such as baby corn and red peppers, and in chunks that allowed you to actually taste their flavor. I give them high marks for serving up hot food, and the atmosphere is quite pleasant.

    (4)
  • David P.

Absolutely fantastic! They're chicken lomein bowl is to die for! Easily the best Chinese food in town! My wife will only eat Asian food from this place from now on!

I really wanted to try this after hearing so many great things about this place, but it has fallen victim to the Americanization of Chinese cuisine. I have gone there before and eaten the sushi which is AMAZING, but I warn people to stay away from the Chinese dishes there. We had ordered first off Crab Rangoon as an appetizer. This was the weirdest Crab Rangoon I have ever eaten in my life. It looked like the Crab Rangoon - the beautiful flower shape and golden brown - but it did not taste like it. They decided to DOUSE the entire dish with "spicy hot honey mustard." This is not an exaggeration people it was straight up HONEY MUSTARD. If I did order again I would just ask to not have on there...because the menu does not even say it is included. While I am on that track, the menu does not even have detailed contents about the food. A lot of dishes do not have a full ingredient list - which is understandable if it was standardized food you can find in any Asian restaurant. For example, when you order Sweet and Sour anything you know you are getting a deep fried protein with syrupy red sauce on the side. They do not need to put ingredients on the menu because you know what you are ordering. I think with an order of something like the Crab Rangoon you should at least tell the customer you are pouring honey mustard on it. We also both ordered the "Triple Crown," sliced chicken, beef, shrimp, snow pea pods, baby corn, straw mushrooms, carrots, broccoli, and water chestnuts sautéed in a brown sauce. I will tell you this was the weirdest rice bowl I have ever eaten. I have to say corn does NOT AT ALL go with this dish or carrots. Yes I knew what I was ordering but I didn't think it would be an off combination. The corn pretty much was straight out of the can with no additional sauce or flavoring. Also this dish costs almost $15.00 and the portion is really small. The customer service was great but we had three different waitresses for our meal so when trying to pay or tip at the end of the night we were rather confused. I would go back but I would definitely stick to Sushi!

Excellent and consistent quality, the best Chinese food in the Bradenton area. Good lunch specials and friendly staff. A+

Don't get me wrong, I have a really open mind when it comes to Asian Fusion. Everyone at work loves this place... so, like I always do, I gave it a try. The food and atmosphere is similar to Pei Wei, but with the same quality ingredients as the Chinese Food Stall in Desoto Mall Food Court. Also, I'm comparing the Rice Bowl to the Food Court place because I have seen some of the same staff at both. The cool thing about Rice Bowl Asian House is that is totally local. Aside from normal take-out style Chinese-American dishes like Lo Mein, they serve Goi Guon (=which they call Vietnamese Roll), and Teriyaki and Stir-fried over rice bowls. So, instead of the food being in a take-out container, it is served in a large bowl. It would be great if they added a bento box option, which would be novel, and make the customer feel like they are getting more for their money. Also, adding bubble tea would be nice. If I'm going to drive all the way here, I will probably dine at the other restaurant in the same plaza that serves Thai and Sushi at the same price. Another reviewer posted that, "This is the best Chinese food I have ever had." You have got to me kidding me...

I never knew they had a lunchtime sushi special. Great food and good prices. It's worth going to lunch there when you need your weekly sushi fix.

I was under the impression this was a fast food type place rather than a sit down restaurant and I was proved wrong when I entered. This place was very clean and we were greeted immediately as we walked in. Our waitress was friendly and even made recommendations for rolls. The sushi was fresh (we came in at 8:30 PM, so I wasn't exactly sure what to expect with the fish, but it was right on point)-husband and I shared a few and we shared a fried rice bowl. The bowl was plenty big to share was for only around $7, a great deal. All in all, a great experience for sushi and chinese food. Reasonable prices for solid quality. I will be returning.

Second time here and I am happy I didn't go to Wasabi down the street, though I will soon. Great rolls today, a bit on the warmer side but it worked for the fish. I tried the General Tsos chicken too and it was good. Hard to find a real good GTO and this isn't it but it was good. Nice juicy, hot chucks of white meat chicken and the sauce was nice. Rice could be a bit more sticky but still good. Ever since J-pan went to Hanna I think this will be my go to place now. lol Cheers

  • Carol B.

The name says it all. You get a bowl of rice with your choice of toppings. The rice was, overcooked and so were the veggies. The sauce has heavy and sweet. I thought it was terrible. Will not return. I threw it out

  • Allie M.

Prices are good, it is a better alternative to fast food. It's no Pei Wei. Last time I got a chicken dish the chicken had a very strange texture.

  • Jeremy W.

Food quality presentation is pretty good though the prices are a bit on the high side considering what you get over all that I enjoy this place and would recommend it on occasion

Coming from NJ it was hard trying to find a good Asian food restaurant. Well, this place is by far the best in the area. I had a Dragon roll that was very fresh. Our table shared General tsos chicken, pork fried rice, vegetable & pork lo mien, egg rolls, spring rolls, & fried grouper. The portions were plentiful with a great a atmosphere. This place will not disappoint.

Great place for a quick bite, the lunch specials are the best in town. Staff is so nice and treat you like family. This is one place that I miss now that I live in Maryland. I always stop in when I am in town and never disappointed.

We ate here several weeks ago. It was very good. It was a nice surprise, not what I expected from a place in a strip plaza. It is very attractive on the inside. The waitress was very friendly and helpful. We will go again.

My family and I just left here and let me tell you...we live in Venice and we will most certainly be back. The food is so fresh and fantastic. So much food for the price you pay. If u are looking for a mom and pop place that is the real thing and so fantastic, you will not be disappointed. The service was fantastic as well. My son manage to spill two glasses of water in less than 5 mins apart and the staff never made me fell like my children were a bother.

I really enjoyed my visit to the Rice Bowl Asian House. I was going to be spending the afternoon in Ellenton and used the Yelp app to search for lunch places nearby. Going here meant we would have to drive a few miles past Ellenton, but it was so worth it. This isn't the standard take-out place you see in a strip mall with a few tables tossed in haphazardly. It's a nice little restaurant that is spotlessly clean. Our very friendly waitress explained it was "half Japanese, half Chinese". We all wanted Chinese dishes so I can't comment as to what their Japanese food is like. This is definitely more Americanized Chinese food, similar to what you would find at a Pei Wei (but better!). I thought that the prices were quite reasonable. Having the option to get brown rice is always a big plus for me. I got the honey chicken and I enjoyed it. This place is located so close to the interstate that I can definitely see myself stopping here when I'm travelling to/from the Tampa Bay area.

Where has this place been all my life? I thought this joint was a fast food restaurant. It has fresh sushi and great soup. The service was great. They were attentive and polite. Definitely going back!

The food was really good and definitely well worth it's price. I got the vegetable and tofu lo mein and I really liked it, the vegetables were fresh and crisp. However, not a big fan of the tofu. I have had better tofu before. The place is nice and clean. Owner is really nice and friendly. She came by to check If I liked my food :)

This place is as averagely mediocre as it gets. It hovers somewhere between 2 to 3 stars and gets 2 for a total lack of imagination. Think of if as the Hyundai Sonata of restaurants....totally unnoticeable, not trying to be special, but gets the job done. Or if you never leave the house, then this is the ABC movie of the week. It's most definitely not going to win any awards or praise but barely manages to fill it's allotted time slot. Among all the unimaginative non-chain bland restaurants, this one will fit right in with the best of them. Rice, topped with some grilled chicken, two pieces of steamed broccoli and canned corn. Add some soy sauce, call it a meal and be happy with what you got. Maybe I'm in a particular mood today, but this complete lack of originality or ambition gets to be really tiresome. (btw, this is a sit down restaurant, with waitresses...it wasn't necessarily obvious from outside).

  • David B.

I have been here 3-4 times for their lunch special on sushi and it is great for the price. 3 rolls for $10 is unbeatable. The sashimi is decent and the service is always wonderful. The rolls do seem slightly smaller then other places but I believe it's because they cut their pieces larger. There was one time however that the meat inside my rolls were at room temperature. This made the taste less pleasant but still ok overall. This place will continue to have my business as long as I have a craving for Japanese food in the Bradenton area. Overall, 5/5 stars because it really is "As good as it gets" for the area.

So the water was good!! Really shocked at the reviews for this place. Maybe the sushi is good but we didn't have that. We ordered 2 egg rolls and the white fish tempura app. The egg rolls were ok, lite on the veggie and very heavy on the black pepper. The fish tempura was a real disappointment.not sure how one can cut fish that thin and still manage to batter and fry it!! I had the Tokyo rice bowl, hubby had the Osaka bowl and daughter had honey orange chicken. So my dinner came with 5 of the smallest and driest shrimp I have ever seen and my chicken was also WAY over cooked, I substituted the corn for zucchini which was also dry. I didn't you could dry out zucchini!! The rice was good. Hubby's dish-all proteins over cooked but his rice and broccoli was good but not hot! Our daughter didn't really eat her dinner and after we tried it was clear why. We can think better ways to spend $46 like yummy house or even hot dogs at Freddie's would've been a better choice. We are truly shocked at what people reviewed as good Asian food. I think Asian people would be insulted by this place!!

We've visited twice and were impressed both times with this restaurant that offers a "healthier" approach to Asian food. Located in a large strip center on Route 70 near I-75 this is an order at the counter and "we'll bring it to you" operation. On our first visit I had the BBQ Beef Grill (Korean Beef) @$8.95 which included Yellow Cucumber, Pickled Ginger, and a touch of Kimchi. The beef that topped this dish had beautiful grill marks and was perfectly tender. I'm not a KB connoisseur but it seems that minced ginger may be more appropriate in this dish as the pickled style didn't really fit with the hot beef and vegetables. This may just be the chef's interpretation of this dish or some serve this with pickled ginger as standard. It was served over a generous portion of Jasmine rice and a spring roll. Tableside Sriracha sauce perked it up nicely. My Wife had the Teriyaki Grilled Chicken @$7.45 which included two large pieces of broccoli, zucchini and corn over Jasmine rice. Again this was beautifully prepared and presented and was more than she could eat for lunch. While we waited we shared an Egg Roll which included chicken as its protein - see note below. Four of us returned for dinner and again were quite pleased. We started with pan fried dumplings which were just average with 8 pieces @ $4.99. My wife had the blackened Grouper @$8.95 (fish choice is based on what's available) served in one bowl with a salad along with broccoli and corn. She loved it. I decided to try their Shrimp Lo Mein @ $8.95. The shrimp had a very lightly breaded (Panko or a dusting of cornstarch?) outside that made them attractive and delicious, just a beautiful crunchy touch against the soft noodles. The bowl included nicely chopped onion, cabbage, and carrots. As a special note; this may be the only time I've had Lo Mein that there wasn't a pool of oil left in the bottom of the bowl, and yet the noodles were moist and flavorful. Friends each had Tokyo Delight Grill @$8.95 which includes steamed broccoli, Zucchini and corn over rice along with shrimp and chicken. These are friends that like to eat healthy and I think they were both pleased and finished every bite. They do offer all their dishes with Jasmine rice or (as listed on the menu) "Healthy" Brown Rice. There are limited selections of beer and wine. Now some minor complaints; a small menu is displayed at the front and is only semi descriptive. Based on its size and layout more than one group would have a difficult time making their dining selection. Sylvia the out front owner is very willing to offer help and descriptions, but the situation is less than ideal. We would not have ordered an Egg Roll at lunch had we known my entrée came with a spring roll. Our friends on their first visit also found it confusing. After order placement and paying by credit card a tip line is printed on the receipt. As this really is a semi serve yourself place it's kind of confusing along with the fact tipping is something to do after a meal not before you've eaten or sampled the service. Find the handbook that came with the register and delete that line! An efficient server quickly brought out items and does deserve a few bucks left behind. As stated above the egg roll has chicken as its protein and pork is non existent on this menu. I been told through the years that many Asians consider pork to be a "lesser" meat preferring beef and chicken, along with being (supposedly) less healthy of the three. I like pork; after all it IS the other white meat! I'm not all that athletic a guy, but through MANY years of practice I'm pretty proficient with chop sticks and the Jasmine rice although delicious doesn't seem to have the stickiness of other rice. Getting some meat and rice together is a real challenge and calls for the bowl to your lips and shovel method (somewhat frowned upon unless you're restaurant staff) or having to sheepishly pick up a fork or spoon and admitting defeat. My complaints are minor and the pros are considerable. It's another positive step in SW Florida having palatable, appetizing ethnic food.

Kinda surprised about all the good reviews. It was fairly generic looking inside, and dim. But our service was quick and attentive. The Yelp listing says they have beer and wine.... They do not! Only soft drinks, which is disappointing for dinner. We had sushi. I'm a bit of a sushi snob. They had an interesting assortment of rolls - not just the typical generic ones. Awesome Tuna was may favorite. There was one with mango on it also, which was different. I felt like the rolls had way too much sauce on them though! I could barely taste any fish. And I have no idea why, but I felt like the rolls were very squishy. The texture was soft and mushy in my mouth. But that could just be my hang up.... My date said the texture was fine.

I've eaten here twice. The food is pretty good, and you get a lot for your money! The sashimi and sushi is super fresh and I like how they offer both brown and white rice. However, the table behind us got their food about 5 minutes before us, even though we ordered before them and we had the same orders. My Hawaiian shrimp and brown rice had WAY too much sauce in it though.. I tried scooping out some of it into a bowl but it was still way too soupy and salty...

Driving back to Tampa from miami, we stopped at this place off of IS 75 based on yelp reviews. Not bad. Can't go wrong with our yelpers opinions. Based on the quick service , piping hot food and taste this place delivered.

Good sushi and Asian fusion cuisine in a suburban stripmall. Yummy noodle soups with shrimp and \ or chicken. Not sure why it's rated quite so highly? I was not awed, but it's a good place with friendly service

I was nearby getting work done on my car and stopped in for lunch. I got the sushi roll lunch special and it was fantastic. It is an amazing deal, three rolls for less than $10. The sushi is fresh, service is polite and quick, and they are super attentive. The fish portions in the rolls were very generous and fresh. My neighbor had the rice bowl, it was very big, and he said it was also delicious. I highly recommend this as your sushi lunch spot, well worth it.

TAKE OUT REVIEW: The eggrolls are gross (that's the only thing I had the 1st time I tried them so I held out on my review). My second go-round I had "beef w/broccoli w/brown rice. I wasn't a fan because it was "dry" and the meat aka beef had a weird taste. The beef tasted as if it was some kind of frozen pre-packaged meat. The vegetables with brown rice were okay and cooked well but I will not be returning to Rice Bowl Asian House; it's not worth the drive or price. I'm really shocked this place has good reviews. It was really weird, I didn't feel like I was eating Chinese food at all. I think this place would be perfect for those whose want "healthier Chinese food". If for some reason I go back I'll only get brown rice and veggies (I don't trust that beef).

This is a quick style restaurant where you're hungry and just want to eat and then leave. They do have a lunch special for sushi and its pretty worth it if you're craving some raw fish. The Chinese food is mediocre but the portions are huge and it satisfies my cravings. I usually order the vegetable lo mein but have to ask for extra veggies since they don't give you that much. Their General Tso comes with white meat and the are huge and flavorful. The crab rangoon is typical and comes with a yummy sauce. Nothing on the menu really "wowed" me but it is cheap and probably the best asian food in the area.

After reading the reviews we decided to give it a try. Very disappointed! Chicken Lo Mein had a few pieces of chicken and hardly any vegetables. The shrimp fried rice did have more shrimp than other restaurants, however it also had hardly any vegetables. First time I ever had Asian food with hardly any vegetables. Won't be back.

The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions.
