We love this local Mexican restaurant. Great flavor, great service, and decent prices. The chimichungas are awesome! Very clean and friendly staff.

You got to try this place, it's very good, but get there before dinner hour or you will be waiting as there is always a line after six. Taco Tuesday is awesome. Enjoy.

We went the other night because we had a free entree coupon and had never been there before, so why not? Salsa came right away with chips. Kind of soupy but decent flavor. Food came very fast and wasn't bad. But the reason it only gets 3/5 stars is because of the service. We only ordered water to drink and it took an act of congress to get the server back to our table to refill the glasses. Yet the woman who was bringing chips and salsa was standing around doing nothing. When I finally got the attention of the waiter, I was told, "I'm sorry for the wait sir, I'm very busy." I understand busy but in my opinion, you never say that to a customer. Customers don't want excuses, just their water glasses refilled. We will probably try it again, but I'll be sure to ask for a different server.

One of our favorite restaurants that we visit weekly. The food is incredible and everyone from the first person you meet to the manager Jorge makes you feel like family. Vikki behind the bar always makes our stay enjoyable with great service and conversation. We highly recommend. Mark Danko

Food was good. Service was not desirable. Server was way too busy and lacked attentiveness. They needed a few more staff members.

I could go for some Mexican, I said to a Bradenton local, a businessman. He looked at me if I meant weed or, perhaps a senorita, but what I wanted was lunch. "Poblano's" he said. "It's good and, take it from me who's got three kids, easy on the wallet." So, off we went to Poblano's. On the fifteen-minute ride over, I looked over the Yelp reviews. Uh ho! Although, it got three of five stars, the word wasn't good. Don't trust a restaurant with an empty parking lot, said one. Two different reviewers claimed the salsa had the qualities of ketchup or tomato paste. We're driving past ninety, maybe a hundred restaurants to get to a south-of-the -border joint that can't get salsa right? Bring it on. The parking lot was full, and the salsa was fine, even good. The taco/burrito combination (build your own) was perfect (and hot) and the house Poblano salad was fresh with greens, tender chicken, and cheeses. Service was perfect. Lunch was great. Don't believe everything you read on the internet.

I always drive by this place so I decided to give it a shot. Every single time I would drive by its packed. I'm talking people parking on the grass because there aren't any more spots packed. So it must be great right? I order the pick two special that comes with two sides. I ordered the tostada and a enchilada. My mother had the fajitas. I tried her fajita and it was absolutely tasteless, and the steak was so rubbery and dry you could barely chew it. The fajita didn't even come out hot!!! Which fajitas are supposed TO BE!!!! My enchilada was greasy as all heck and came out luke warm. But to top it all off the chips and salsa were terrible too. The only thing that's ok about this place is the drinks. If you don't care about good food and want to drink then this is the place for you. As for me I want a good meal, so I won't be coming back.

I wish I could give this place 3 1/2 stars, which is the same grade my friend suggested. The service was outstanding and the staff is very nice. The food was between average and good. The chips were a little thin and the salsa was a little bland, my tamal was excellent. The taco was good, as was the tostada. My friend's burrito, although enormous, was pretty bland. Overall, a decent but not great choice for Mexican food.

Great Family atmosphere and fun with a magician to boot! I had the steak tacos (2) American style with beans and rice which are a solid staple of the place. Next time I think il try the shrimp and bacon :) Portions were large and homemade salsa was great. We spent $50 bucks for a family of 5. No alcohol.

First time here. We waited awhile for a service. Then she arrived. Took our drink order and food order. I went to the bathroom and was waiting for a stall . I waited for 7 min.no lie. I noticed someone in the stall texting. I waited 3 min. More not knowing who was in thwre. My waitress came out ever so casually. Then the food. The red sauce was bad. I asked for green sauce she brought it , but didn't tell me there was a extra charge. My advice to you is Want great Mexican food....with friendly and timely service......and want to feel like you are. Welcome and valued as a customer.....go someplace...ANYPLACE ELSE!!!!

We moved here from the Buffalo area, left behind two personal friends both owning their own Mexican restaurants, Don Tequilas and ElCanello. We tried numerous places in the area and finally stopped into Poblanos Mexican Bar & Grill. With high expectations and no luck finding a good place we walked in. We were meet by a pleasant staff, found the atmosphere comfortable and the menu every much like what we were used to. The Margaritas were excellent, chips and salsa were fresh and we didn't have to wait long for anything. Here is the part that would determine their worth! The Fajitas came, would they be crunchy unseasoned vegetables and tough steak . Or , Yes they were perfect! Everything sizzled , the vegetables were caramelized but not burnt , the steak was not tough at all and the portions were very good. Since then we have become regulars, their unbeatable Taco Tuesday is the best, they have great draft beer prices and their tall is 32 ounces ! We base our opinions on our expectations and quality as it compares to price. I believe you get your money's worth 100%. Do you ever drive around looking for the place you can just walk in on a Friday or Saturday and sit right down , we avoid them, there's a reason for that and one I don't want to find out. Poblanos is consistently busy but you won't wait long at all. Ok when the snowbirds are here you might wait a little while because they just don't leave but that's not Poblanos fault! They will get you in soon enough. Poblanos Mexican Bar & Grill also sponsors the Braden River High School Marching Band and Color Guard. Hats off to them for giving back to their community.

Don't waste your time or money! The salsa was so watery that it looked like tomato soup. My daughter ordered the nachos supreme, the bottom of the plate had so much liquid on it that her chips were soggy. Our family will not go back again.

I love this place!! Taco tues had a live musician and we drank margaritas while we waited for our table. It was a 40 min wait for the food but it was worth it. I love chips and salsa!!!!!!! The guac looks pretty good I think I will order some right now.

I feel like it's a dishonor to the star system to even give this place 1 star. They deserve 0 stars. Terrible service, Noooo meat in the fajitas, half a spoon of sour cream and guacamole, noooo cheese. I have to wait 15 minutes to ask my waiter for hot sauce. I asked for extra sour cream, cheese and hot sauce. When I received my bill I noticed a $1.50 charge for cheese and a $1 charge for extra sour cream. The fajitas were $15. Absolutely terrible place and I will never be back.

Good Mexican, taco Tuesday always so crazy. I am not a huge fan of their guac but most of their dishes are pretty good.

We like it's convenience to where we live, the larger old beers & food. We are never disappointed!

Before stopping, I wish we had read the Yelp reviews or heeded the warning offered by the Universe in seeing so few cars in the parking lot in the middle of a Saturday afternoon while S.R. 70 was crowded with traffic. But we needed a 'Mexican fix', were hungry, and the building looks nice from the outside, so we stopped at Poblanos for the first time. Inside was a clean but poorly maintained collection of booths and old free-standing tables surrouded by wooden chairs which had been in use so long that the paint/stain had been rubbed off by years of 'bottoms'. The floor is wood plank with intermittent shine that begs to be refinished. Only one person manned the front of the house, serving as hostess, waitress, busboy, and floor mopper. She was pleasant, but obviously stretched too thin as checks/tips from previous customers had not yet been collected and chairs around several tables pushed together were in disarray. The food & drink dissapointment began with a house Margherita which seemed to have only a tenuous association with any alcohol and tasted of a really cheap Margherita mix. Of the complimentary chips and salsa, the chips were okay -- fresh, but very thin -- and the salsa was in actuality a very thin picante sauce which had no bite, very little flavor I would associate with Mexican food, and tasted as if it had a base of ketchup rather than fresh tomatoes. One of us had the tortilla soup (which we've had elsewhere) described as "cilantro based soup consisting of shredded chicken, mexican rice, and corn tortilla chips". It contained a decent amount of chicken, but the soup stock was very thin, like a broth, and tasted not so much of cilantro as it did of some sharp citrus flavor. I've never before used this term in reference to soup, but it tasted 'old'. My dining partner (DP) ordered a combination plate composed of chile relleno and a beef enchilada. The poblano pepper had been overcooked -- not scorched, but as if boiled -- to a limp mush and was stuffed with what the menu identifies as "melted shredded cheese and ground beef", but in real life is runny and brownish. Not at all appetizing in appearance or taste. The enchilada was a bit better but the ground beef seemed actually to have been pureed and the promised shredded cheese topping was of the invisible variety. I ordered the Burrito Deluxe, which is two burritos, one of shredded chicken and the other of ground beef. The chicken was plentiful and juicy, but for the most part not shredded, containing very large chunks. The mixing of the ground beef and refried beans as a stuffing, resulted in a formless, but decent tasting mush. The menu describes the burritos as "topped with lettuce, tomato, supreme sauce and sour cream." There was lettuce, a small amount of diced tomato, and very, very little sour cream -- a thin drizzle rather than tablespoon fulls I had expected. As to the "supreme sauce", served as a side in a small bowl, oh my. Well, it's not the supreme sauce of French cuisine and to label it sauce of any kind is misleading, since it is a very thin liquid tasting only of tomatoes, no other spices. Did not use it. When we asked for the check, the hostess/waitress/busboy/floor-mopper, asked if we enjoyed the meal. My DP, who is usually quiet on this issue, spoke up and stated that he did not like his entree. The response was, "Oh"; that's it. We both enjoy Mexican food; wish we had had Mexican food at Poblanos. Never again. Beware the empty parking lot at restaurants.

First and last time here. Wasn't terrible, but wasn't good. Service took forever. I love authentic Mexican food but today is my first time and I wasn't excited about it.

Hands down best Mexican restaurant I've ever been too. Best food, best margarita and best service.

  • Chelsey S.

Not bad, not great. The host is always friendly, and seems to be picking up the slack for the mediocre waitstaff. The food is alright but not memorable. Not a very good house margarita. The dining room isn't bad, but is slightly uncomfortable. We tried it twice and I think that's enough.

Yes it's "tex mex" but our service was outstanding and the food was good and well priced.

I've eaten here several times in the past 3 months. I like the atmosphere and the service has always been fantastic. The bar tender, Victoria has a great attitude and is always pleasant no matter what time of day/night it is. The food is good and consistent and you can't beat Taco Tuesday's where the Tacos are .99 cents, the place is always packed on this night so don't be in a hurry! I'm a huge chips & salsa fan and my only complaint is the regular salsa taste too much like tomato paste and is not hot enough for me, but I do remember that not only is this a restaurant chain, it serves families and most kids don't like hot / spicy food, so I order hotter sauce and mix them, it's perfect! They do charge for every side dish but so does pizza delivery. If you like chunky salsa you won't like this, I personally don't like chunks in mine, if I want chunks in my salsa I can order a salad to put into it.... If you are looking for authentic Mexican food in Florida good luck, I have yet to find it on either coast. If you want a good meal in a nice environment without drunk people being loud, and ruining your night then this is a great place to eat and you cannot beat the service!

Best Mexican food I have had in along time. Prices are good, service excellent, food is very good. Been their twice second time I took my family and they enjoyed it. Best of all big mugs of Draft beer. We will be back again. Place is always pack they must be doing something right.

  • John B.

Service was terrible. The server didn't even know they had romaine lettuce when I was trying to order a salad minus a few things. He got a couple of our orders wrong. When we wanted to ask for dessert he was rolling silverware and we had another server go tell him we wanted dessert and he still didn't come right away he kept rolling the silverware. Food was good. Dessert wasn't so great. But because service was bad I will not eat there again. I will do takeout if anything. As I see from other reviews here on yelp it's a normal thing that their service is bad.

Seriously the best mexican we've found in the area. The waitstaff is usually very prompt, and they offer low carb variants of a lot of their food. The menu, while not overly inventive, is large and everything is quite good.

My family and I went there yesterday around 6:30pm. It was kind of crowded but we decided to wait for a table. Finally after 20 min. we were seated in a round table next to the restrooms, at this point we thought our night was ruined. Our server Diago made our night!! we can tell he was so busy because he was visiting a lot of big parties but he always checked on us, wearing a great smile, very attentive, and really nice with my children. Food was great and warm, we didnt have bar drinks 'cause of our kids. The place looked a little disorganized but I guess it was due to they were packed. WE WILL DEFINITELY BE BACK and ask for him

After living in Arizona and California for many years I learned to enjoy good quality Mexican food so when I saw this restaurant not to far from my house I thought I'd give it a try. Here in Florida, the standards for good Mexican food is below par so I went not expecting the best. Well, it was worse than my expectations. How can you mess up refrained beans and a burrito. They did!!!! Oh well, about a year later a friend asked me to out for food and he wanted to go there. I protested but he insisted and I'm always willing to give something a second chance. To say the least about this place is not possible. Worst than the first time but to add salt to my wounds the service was.....well there was none. I almost had to go get my own taco. I will NEVER be back unless I'm looking for a reason to vomit.

Incredible place. If you are looking for Mexican food don't waste your time anywhere else. I have been in Sarasota since 2008 and haven't found anywhere that compares. In my house we don't go eat Mexican we go eat Poblanos.

Good food and festive atmosphere! Go for Taco Tuesdays and have a margarita. Servers are authentic and so is the food.

Very disappointed. Hostess and server were mediocre at best. The food did not have much flavor. I'm new to the area, but I would definitely try to find a different place.

New menu released a few days ago. Great new items make it a must try or try again. Taco Tuesday it's still a parade of drunks and rednecks

Demeanor of the service was lacking genuine concern even the manager. Quality of food very poor. Margaritas the worst ever. Poblanos in Texas is outstanding, but will not return to this location.

  • Brian C.

Decided to give it another chance and went there last night (Friday). The place was packed. Seated almost immediately. Chips and sales delivered right after. Food still bland and now the portions are smaller. Enchiladas half the size as before as are the rice, beans, and queso. Oh well.

Being from Chicago, I am used to excellent Mexican cuisine. After checking YELP down here i was sad to see the local mexican place had bad ratings, note every evening we drove past they were busy. I finally needed my Fajita fix so i looked up trip advisor and well and behold Poblano's had a 3.5 rating and 13 reviews. I took my wife and 7 yr old son. Inside was clean and bright and had great energy, very friendly staff, I asked to see a menu, and did tell them of the bad reviews i read on Yelp, he shrugged and said those were old and that we have great food and service here. ires I decided to try and got my wife and son, went to a table, and enjoyed $3 margaritas (on a friday night) followed that up with a Tecate, finishing with a Mr. Pibb. All were excellent. Being undecided, our server suggested a sample plate, minutes later we had 3 plates, pork, steak, and chicken dish, can't recall the name but it is a house specialty and DELISH!! So good my wife ordered the entree. I of course had Fajitas (texas style, Shrimp (big), carne asada, and chicken.) it came steaming hot with Green peppers, onions, etc, Beans and rice, Excellent beans, and 3 HOT flour bigger tortillas. Yummy!!! A red delish tomato slice, some guac, and nicely chopped lettuce. So good. Some of the best I had, Our server brought us 3 more Tortillas, Throughtout the meal, they refilled our chips and salsa. Salsa is House made, fresh and Delish. Some reviews said Ketchup, Not close, fresh made, pureed salsa, perfectly seasoned, and just the right amount of spice, everyone enjoyed it. Chips, were Fresh, light and crispy, and salted to perfection. A++ One of the best meals in my week here, and $60 for 3 of us, including 4 alcohol drinks, 3 soft drinks. I tipped about 27%, the service was THAT GOOD!! In Chicago, that meal at that quality would of easily cost me well over $100 Job well done, Jorge. You run a great restaurant, Look at my feedback, and judge that I am a real person!! With Honest reviews! If you come here and like it, Yelp it!!

I really do love this place and the food tastes so delicious! I've been eating their food twice a week for the past 4 weeks and can't get enough! I have tried many combos: chili relleno, tamale, chimichanga, tostadas, pinto beans and spanish rice, refried beans and spanish rice. Their salsa is very good, so are the tortillas. Their queso is AMAZINGLY good also! and their red sauce for the tamales is so tasty I am craving it now as I write this. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is because every time we take out for lunch they always forget something whether it be the sour cream I asked for on the side or the red sauce that comes with the tamales (which I love so much). Very good tasting food tho.

The food & prices are fantastic! BUT, you have such an amazing thing going on with taco Tuesday (lines out the door) Bar is way too tiny for the poor girls behind it to be serving the bar AND the whole restaurant!!! Expand it! They are too busy to enjoy their job and the patrons and it shows....and its not their fault. It is way too much traffic for the amount of space you are providing them. The 2 tables in front of the bar being removed would benefit your business grately by providing quicker drink service to all and in turn letting your bartenders be able to actually move and freely converse with the patrons instead of constently being on the run. I can't imagine how they even get an adequate potty break! P.S. Your margaritas are way too acidic.

We had a great experience here. I had enchiladas and they were amazing and my husband had the Carne Asade and he said it was perfect. We had the Guacamole which they prepare at your table and it was great too. I definitely recommend this place!

  • Kristen P.

The food here is family friendly. We visit every other month when I must have my favorite Mexican dishes and don't want to cook myself. Priced right, clean restaurant, friendly staff. Tonight we had burritos, tostadas, chile relano, beans, rice, and enchiladas. All were prepared very well and not overly seasoned. I recommend the Banana Burrito for desert, it's the best. Oh and if its Tuesday tacos are on special!

This place is awesome. By far one of the best Mexican restaurants in Bradenton/Sarasota. I sat at the bar, and Vicky our bartender was extremely helpful and knew the menu really well. I was a bit difficult on my order and am allergic to a few things but they were able to adjust with no problem. I was also impressed when she told me they don't use MSG in ANY of their food and it was delicious! Muy bueno

  • Coty S.

Sorry to tell you folks, but the only good thing that Bradenton, FL has going for it is the abundance of excellent Mexican food. So why eat here? I cannot even remember what it was that I slurped down here. All I remember was a large flat pile of lavender-brown runny bean paste with soggy corn mush covered in white cheese spread. With some hot lettuce on top to complete the atrocity. The food is terribly bland, and it does not even come with any sides to make it taste like anything either. Tasty food is not an option in this establishment. People must eat here only because it is the closest Mexican food near i-75. Seriously folks, eating here makes you look like an idiot. Venture west and take a left on little 301 for the real deal. If you are still too scared, then try Mr. Tequilas across from Desoto Mall for some money well spent. Drown your food in cheese sauce if you must, but at least do it in style.

Great deals on tuesdays but be prepared to wait for a table. This place has the best "home style" guacamole and I liked the low carb tortilla option with the CHIMICHANGAS

  • Roberto A.

The Burrito Bueno at Poblano's is truly amazing, I thought that I would be let down by the low-carb version, but I was pleasantly surprised when I cut it open - HEAPS of grilled chicken, mushrooms and onions poured out. Seasoned to perfection and served piping hot, I will be sure to order again, it was delicious!

This was our second trip to Pablanos. The décor of this restaurant is nothing special; the interior is from whatever restaurant had been here before (which I no longer remember) with the addition of a few "Mexican" looking wall hangings. There is booth style seating around the perimeter (including some with ripped vinyl) and deuces and four tops in the center. At 7PM on a Friday night the place was half full and I guess this is a sign of times. We were greeted promptly by a young hostess who immediately took us to what anyone would agree was the worst location in the restaurant, right behind the hostess stand. The table was undersized and uncomfortable looking. We asked for another table and were told "it would be a few minutes" although there was an abundance of empty tables. I understand that hosts are told to sort of "spread the wealth" among the working servers, but sometimes common sense needs to be used. With-in minutes, we were taken to a comfortable corner booth. A server immediately brought over chips and salsa and asked for drink orders. The chips and salsa reminded me of my negative first impression from my prior visit to Pablano's. The chips are very large (maybe too large) and lack two things; flavor and salt. As a matter of fact they are so plain and unimpressive that I wonder if they come from a food service supplier or central commissary rather that made in-house. The salsa is equally unimpressive. It's a red sauce with NO bits of any type of vegetables. Even a hand full of Cilantro in this commercial looking sauce would make it better. Bottled salsa from the supermarket or that sauce from "New York City" would be an improvement. Our order was taken promptly from our pleasant but dis-interested server. The menu lists all the standard Mexican fare with the ability to also choose two or three menu items to create a "combo". My three item combo ($8.95) included a Burrito, Enchilada, and a Chile Relleno. They were all okay with the exception that both my wife and I thought the Chile Relleno was really very good. The chile pepper which is stuffed with melted shredded cheese and ground beef was flavorful and spicy. The thing that really sticks with me is the presentation, or rather the lack of it. The three items were just laid next to each other with no attempt to make the plate attractive. Mexican food by nature isn't particularly colorful or appealing looking but some parsley, cilantro or a chopped salsa of tomato, onions and green chilies would have gone a long way to improve the presentation greatly. It appears this place is run by young, well meaning but inexperienced people. In a word the place and the food lack, "touch". After this second visit my wife who likes Mexican food more than I do said, "There's no reason to ever go back." She's right in that there is really nothing special here and it's just okay. Which sometimes, depending on your hunger level, budget, and "hanker' in" makes okay...OK.

We are always searching for great Mexican food since we moved from LA. Unfortunately, Poblano's wasn't that great. It was just so-so all around for food and for service. The margaritas were good and cheap!

  • Terry T.

I have been to this restaurant many times, and it used to be very good. The management clearly does not care about the patrons. The tamale we ordered was not eatable. The server never came back to check on the meal. When he noticed that 2 people in my group did not eat the same menu item, he did not inquire about satisfaction. The manager would not speak to our group. When I called to let the owner know of his staff's treatment of customers, they never returned my calls. Very sad that this restaurant has declined in food quality and service. I will not return.

Yuk. The worst restaurant dinner I have had in a long time. Had to send back the steak salad I first ordered and the second meal was not much better. My husband didn't like his meal either. Gave it one star since the waitress was very nice.

On Tues, there are cars and trucks spilled over the lawn and occupying every part of the pavement possible...and no they're not here for some authentic frijoles refritos. Dollar tacos and dollar fifty margaritas baby! Keep your expectations low for the food, sip some margaritas, and just enjoy your company and live music.

    (3)
  • Kevin M.

Great tacos and margaritas. We come almost every Tuesday for taco tuesday for $.99 tacos. It's super pack on Tuesday's but worth the wait!

    (4)
  • S B.

A typical Mexican restaurant. The ambience is nice, like a higher-end chain restaurant. We went on a night where there was live music, which was enjoyable. The menu has a great selection of all the Mexican favorites and the food is reasonably priced. I went with a group of six, and everyone was pleased with their meals. The margaritas are also great. They're authentic, and even the "house" margarita didn't taste "cheap." Only thing that could use improvement is the service staff. The hostesses were not friendly. They did not smile or greet us. They just stared and waited for us to say how many. The waitress was decent, but fairly inattentive after we got our food. Will return & would recommend.

I love Poblano's. The tacos are amazing and the queso is to die for. The staff is friendly and the food is good. What more can you ask for. They do $1 tacos on Tuesdays, so expect a bit of a wait if you decide to go.

This review is for taco tuesday; $1 tacos and $2 (pretty strong) margaritas? I'm in!

    (4)
  • Jeanne H.

Excellent food, excellent service. We were there on Taco Tuesday, so we did have a short wait but it was definitely worth it. We enjoyed the $2.29 house margaritas, the 99-cent tacos, and a shrimp burrito. Would definitely eat here again.
