At first glance, this hole in the wall place looks like it has seen better days. The building stands alone, easily missed (which is why we had to turn around three times to find it). The interior is covered in traditional red lanterns and golden statues which definitely gives it that New York City Chinatown feel. The menu has a photo album to go alongside it so that you can see pictures of what the food looks like, which is very different but it definitely helped with making a selection. I settled on the chicken curry and my boyfriend got the house fried rice. Now we have been trying out different Chinese restaurants in Bradenton for a while, not quite finding the perfect "go to" place. Everything in the area is about average and the food was definitely not something you would want to reheat the next day. Lantern blew everything else out of the water! the chicken in my curry actually had the texture of real chicken as opposed to what you typically find at Asian take-out restaurants. Michael's fried rice was incredible and he had to keep me from stealing it. I will probably order that next time. The food was decadent and I have not found anything comparable in a long time. Needless to say, I don't think I will be getting Chinese food from anywhere else from now on.

This place is OOOOOOOOOO-OLD SCHOOL! Ouch! Older than a basement Chinese restaurant on Bayard "stab" street, and older than the man at the corner table clenching his oxygen tank with his tongue hanging out---Possibly even older than the Stonehenge-looking concrete wall sitting out front with "The Lantern" painted on it in red. This is the kind of Chinese food that cowboys must have eaten back in the gun smoke days. Cooked over a campfire with nothing but a few flecks of meat, a handful of veggies, a quart of river water, and a pound of cornstarch mixed with salt. I'm talking, like; Fried rice that looks like brown rice, because they did not fry it or add anything to it other than soy sauce. More than half of the dish is "gravy" or some other sort of gelatinous sauce. The shrimp are smaller than, yet resemble a June Beetle Grub. You can order "Malaysian Beef" here, which is one of their best dishes. It is a semi-wet stir-fry of curry beef with crinkle cut French Fries. I'm totally serious. The waitress learns and will remember your name for all eternity. That part is awesome. Same awesome waitress pointed out to us that this is a Chop-Suey House, where you will find a vintage version of what Americans thought was Chinese food back in the day. They do serve Salt and Pepper seafood dishes, which I have not had the pleasure of ordering yet. They also serve Salt and Pepper crabs.

Although the food is is delicious I do my like the Customer Service. The owners will NOT substitute anything for anything for example; you must get whatever the meal is you can not add anything to whatever you order example; I order house lo mein and ask two stuffed chicken wings added in the meal but the woman at the counter says "no you can't do it like that it has to be seperate but why cant you get an order the way that YOU wish for it to be prepared if YOU are paying your money?! Also if you come here wanting egg fu young around 7 pm the woman tells you that you can't have it at the time EVERYTIME because it takes too long for the pan to get hot and all kinds of excuses I have never been to a restaurant where you are told these things and it makes me! Not want to come here anymore and I probably will find another chinese restaurant that will honor my requests I will take my money elsewhere

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
