Great restaurant. The food is very tasty and the portions are huge. I had the red snapper entree with callaloo and mac and cheese. It was awesome. There was homemade hot sauce on the table. There were quite a few people at the bar on a Friday evening and there was a guy performing music and walking all around the place while singing. We are indeed lucky to have this place in town. I really enjoyed it, going to go back soon for sure!

We had originally wanted to try this place on a Monday but they are closed. We went in the afternoon and thought they were closed because there were only 4 cars in the parking lot.. This food in this restaurant deserves a 5. Atmosphere 4.5 /5. The service really was lack luster. We walked in and we were greeted with " lazy hello , I'm on my phone texting and facebooking." You would swear she had her nose in a great book. She literally walked to our table with the menus while looking down at her phone. The décor of this place has the island feel all the way down to the "weed" smell in the bathrooms. The food portions are enormous. She couldn't really offer any of "Her" suggestions on what to try that was good except what my daughter had already ordered. The jerk chicken nachos would probably taste better and work with the tortillas better if the chicken was shredded and not cubed, Very difficult to balance chicken cubes and cheese on the tortillas. Ordered the jerk pork tenderloin with the fried plaintains and spinach. Full of flavor and did I say the portions are huge? My daughter ordered the curried chicken dish and that was delicious as well and the sweet chicken stew. The soda tasted like bleach the first pour and iced tea was weak. Our waitress really acted like she did not want to be there because through our whole visit her face was down in her phone. The business owners should really have a policy of putting the phone down unless it is there break time because it really takes away from the overall dining experience. I do not care that Groupon or Amazon has a deal going. The lack of great customer service couldn't get me back in if it was free. Felt so unwelcomed and the server was not passionate about providing excellent service.

What a great hidden gem! We are new to the area and found this place on Yelp so we decided to go for it since we love Jamaican food. Simple place, but they focused on the food and that's what really matters. Serving sizes are more than enough. I had the Jerk meatloaf, my husband had the chicken Jerk alfredo and we split a beef patty for an appetizer. Cold beer, yummy food and the place wasn't crowded! I can't wait to come back for more!

A foodie paradise! If you want tgi Friday apple boos this place is not for you. This is the real deal Jamaican food! Good to have this in our town!
(4)Jim Z.
This is like the old Jamrocks, but bigger and better.. Jerk chicken is excellent and nothing like a red stripe beer to wash it down. Service was good, food was better. Jamaican music is constantly in the background. The old thing missing is the sand.

Whoa, I had no idea that this stand-alone building was even here. While most restaurants in the area are located in strip malls directly off of Manatee Avenue, this place is a decent sized, cozy building back behind another building with ample parking. The facility looks like it used to be a BBQ joint. Maybe that is because there is plenty of great outdoor seating in the screened porch area, good for live music and rainy summer nights. There is a full bar with many regulars, and some serious Jamaican atmosphere; music, food, decor, and you can hear the chef's accent all the way from the kitchen. Food here is no joke and is well seasoned with homemade flavor; meat is cooked on the bone, food is hand chopped, and seasoned to the taste of the host (the chef). We are lucky to be welcome in his home. I find the rice and beans dry, so next time I will opt for different side dishes. The spinach is excellent, but the Mac and Cheese fantastic. The mac is made fresh to order, and even has hot peppers in it! Not spicy, don't worry, the cheese and cream mellow out the peppers so all that is left is the flavor. It is sad that they do not serve an appetizer sampler, Cocoa Bread, or Festivals. They do serve Ting, which is one of my favorite grapefruit sodas. I also wish that they served a homemade house sauce for the table instead of branded bottles.

Fun atmosphere - good portion sizes!!

I like it a lot. Nice West Indian atmosphere. Food is good, authentic Jamaican. Oxtail is great, curry chicken is very nice & rice & beans was perfect. I'll be back again & again. Highly recommend if you are looking for Jamaican food.

Easy 5 star rating. Casual atmosphere and slow Jamaican pace.. but the food is fantastic with huge portions.

Excellent food. I went on Sunday for the first time since they have the NFL ticket. I Loved the brown stew chicken which was absolutely tasty. The potato salad was creamy and on the sweet side which I love, and the rice and peas were yummy. I also had a spicy beef patty, BTW the scotch bonnet hot sauce will light your hair on fire, so I bought a bottle to take home. Good portions so I left there stuffed full. My server Dana was nice and did a great job. If you like jamaican food then this is the spot. I had the curry chicken three days later ;) cant wait to try the meatloaf next.
(4)Mechell Y.
The service is good. The Jamaican music gives the place a wonderful vibe. The food tastes just OK...nothing to write home to mama about. The food is definitely over priced. I would give it 1.5 stars if that was an option. We will not return!

Went there for lunch. Walked in with no hostesses to seat us and heard from the bar "please seat yourself". Restaurant was empty, which kind of scared me. Waitress, who was also the bartender, arrived with menus and got our drink orders. I ordered a coke and the rest of my party ordered water. The Coke came almost flat. A couple of people came in and went right to the bar. After looking at the menu, I understand why. The bottled beer, the draft beer and even the imports were so cheap! We were still undecided on the food but my friend ordered a Shocktop draft. The waitress came back and we ordered. I got the Sampler, my wife got the salted whitefish and the friend got the curried goat. My meal was amazing. It had curried goat, ox tail, and jerk chicken with rice and beans and plantains. I will go back for the jerk chicken and the ox tail! My wife's meal was ok but tasted a little too much like spoiled fish. The curried goat was very good also! The best part of the meal was the macaroni and cheese. We even ordered a side to take home! I will be back many times! Thank you for the experience!

What's not to like? Great vibe, great reggae and great food! Jerk chicken plate and wrap, excellent! Amy the bartender/waitress great. Will definitely return soon.
(4)Todd S.
pretty good chicken curry. mashed potatoes and plantains were good. Oxtails also good would come again, except we had a pesky fly that wouldn't go away!! so I give it 4 stars.
(4)Samantha D.
The food was good and the portions were large but the service was awful! Our waitress was lazy, slow and dressed like she was lounging around on her couch. I go out to dinner so I can be waited on and not have to do anything myself. I can stay at home and have good food... It took her ten minutes to even get our drink order. When we ordered our food she acted like she had never seen the menu before because she looked at my husband's menu to figure out what we were ordering. We were both ordering Jerk Chicken, the very first thing on their menu!

I have never had Jamaican food before, so I have nothing to compare it to. But there was great service, great food and a beautiful atmosphere. The music was a bit loud for conversation, and as today is the last day of my vacation visiting my Grandmother and Aunt/Uncle, it would have been nice to talk to each other. Otherwise, a great place!
(3)Eric G.
A nice laid back stop. The food is very good , the portions are large and they stock great beer. The ambiance and service is definitely what puts them over the top. Great place
(4)Chan H.
My niece made me go--I had never heard of the place. It was a wonderful surprise!! The waitress was very patient explaining the menu and answering my questions. The music and musician were great. THE FOOD WAS AWESOME! Large portions, too. I will be back!
