If you are looking for authentic German food search no more. This place has exceptional food. It has a small cozy feeling to it. Went with a group of friends and had a great time exploring a new culinary culture. My only suggestion would be to have a better/larger beer selection.

We used to eat here often. Tonight service was slow seemed disorganized. Portions are smaller the sourbraten serving was half the amount it of meat still 3 slices but very very thin and not much spatzel. Not at all like it used to be. The brats were not fully cooked either. Overall not sure if we will go back.

Sorry but I do rate a German restaurant by their pretzels. Frozen microwave type here- such a shame even I can make them at home which is what I will do the next time I get a hankering . The meals were eh... Ok. :/

As good as any gauss house in Germany that I visited Three entrees for our table and each where excellent The desserts they can keep

Truly deserves 5 stars. Classic German dishes prepared by a master chef (trained in Berlin) and it shows! What they do shows the difference between a competent cook and a chef. The subtle flavors brought out in the sauerbraten gravy, classic red cabbage and bread dumplings might have been the best I've found, who knew? I always seek out great German restaurants when I travel-yes, I don't prepare great German foods well at all. Okay, I admit that. Edelweiss is as good if not better than the best Chicago, Minneapolis or New York have to offer. Prices are far too low for that level of stellar quality. Applebee's would have cost more I popped in for lunch after a meeting and the waiter/bartender Corey was a really capable, engaging and knowledgeable professional in every sense of the word. What a find. I may schedule all my meetings in the Tampa market around the chance to dine again at Edelweiss! It is simply that good.

Ok so we've eaten here twice and both times have been a disappointment. The service was poor both times and yet both times the place only had 3-4 tables and that included us. The food is ok...maybe a 4 out of ten. The kitchen seems to be out of sorts when they have three tables going so when something comes out cold it take longer than its should to get it back. And now you table is half way through their dinner. Heinrics is much much better!

Absolutely delicious. I had the goulash and half of my grandmother's Reuben. Great atmosphere where you can actually have a conversation with someone. Very clean restaurant too.

Even though my last name is Krause I had no idea what German food was. So I asked the server to tell me what was popular and he got a feel for things I like and picked out the best meal I've had in a long time!! I couldn't keep my bfs hands off of it. He even snuck my leftovers. I sound like a fatty but this place makes you sound that way cause it's so delicious! Recommend the schnitzel that has mushrooms (don't remember the exact name cause everything has schnitzel-ish authentic German names). I am probably putting true Germans to shame but my whole point is to say this place is yum.

We visit Bradenton about 7 times a year and have made this place a regular stop. I usually get the schnitzel a la Vienna The food is absolutely delicious. Yes, it is best to make a reservation. They fill up fast.

Would have driven by this place a thousand times and not notice it. Friends suggested going and we have been going back dozens of times. We now make reservations only. The food is delicious. We bring friends and out-of-town visitors on a regular basis. It's as good as German cooking gets. Parking lot is very small so we car pool when we bring guests. But that's just a tip if you bring a crowd, which you will once you get hooked on Edelweiss. Best to make reservations, seating limited.

Although I am usually the first person to advocate trying different cuisines, for some reason, I had never in my life tried German cuisine. Perhaps my mother is to blame, for putting the idea that German food is conducive to indigestion because it relies heavily on sausages, and perhaps the fact that there aren't many German restaurants in Miami did not help any. I finally got my opportunity while passing through Bradenton with my friend. We pulled in and entered, and the place was very cozy and inviting, I liked the blue, yellow and white color scheme on the tables, and the minimal decor, including the chimney with logs and an electric fire burning. You felt as if you were in someone's home. I did not like the top 40 radio station that was playing though. I would have liked to hear German music to get the feel of a genuine experience. Nevertheless, the friendly waitress came with the menus and was welcoming. I loved her Victorian lace blouse and the black jumper dress she had on top of it. Did you know she is actually German? Kudos for authenticity points. She made a few recommendations, and because I wanted to experience a wide assortment as an introduction to German cuisine, we decided to order the sampler, which included Wiener Schnitzel, Sauerbraten, Roulade served with Spätzle and red cabbage. We also got the Bratwurst served with Sauerkraut and German Potato Salad. I really enjoyed it, the Spätzle was very cheesy, and great with the gravy provided, and the different sausages were very flavorful, as was the tender Sauerbraten. I had never had sauerkraut, it's good, I can see why Mila Kunis craves this during her pregnancy! Although I don't consider myself an authority on German food by any means, for what it's worth, my friend has been to Germany and had authentic food and he said this is pretty close to it. Of course, knowing that Germany is famous for German chocolate, you cannot walk out without trying it, and when the waitress said it was fresh, I immediately ordered the Schwarzwälder Kirsch Torte. My friend had the apple strudel. That chocolate cake was pretty rich and sinful, and they sure did not skimp out on the portion. This chocoholic was pretty satisfied! I did not try the apple strudel, but my friend ate it all, and he normally does not finish desserts as he does not have a sweet tooth. Considering the amount of generic Thai, Japanese, Sushi, American and Italian restaurants in Florida, I recommend switching things up and giving Edelweiss a try.

Felt like we had stepped into Bavaria. Really enjoyed our dinner. The red cabbage and Sauerbratan were excellent!

Great food sausage was amazing and crap. German potato salad absolutely to die for yummy.

Outstanding schnitzel and music tonight! Yummy potato pancakes and lemon grilled tilapia are delicious! And live polka.

My wife had dumplings with mushroom sauce. I had potato pancakes with mushroom sauce. Both were fresh made and tasted good. Together with some good and cold German beer it made a great meal. As a bonus Klement was playing some good old German music. Altogether another nice evening at the Edelweiss.

I came back and had another great meal! The sausages are flavorful with an excellent bite, and the potato cakes are the best! I highly recommend the schnitzel Cordon Bleu!!

We enjoyed our lunches. The Bavarian schnitzel was nice, but I'm not a fan of the bread dumplings. The goulash is tasty. Everything was a bit too salty. The mustard dip for the appetizer pretzels is DELICIOUS; we finished it with a spoon. The waiter was super nice.

Service was very slow, only one waitress ( she is very nice) the food was good but nothing special! Gravy on the salty side. Pork roast was ok , the decor has a cozy feeling.

'German Cuisine' sounds like an oxymoron, doesn't it? I can only review based on the piece of carrot cake I ordered as take out and it was moist, flavorful and delicious. There were quite a few diners the last time I visited, but I have yet to sit down and order a full service meal. I popped by today and was going to try, but the parking lot was full and I didn't feel like wandering around trying to find alternative parking. I took a couple of pics to post and got some carrot cake as take out. I have heard good things about the place and if the carrot cake is any indication, it is probably worth a visit.

This is a hard one to review. We had to wait 25 minutes, because there are only about 40 seats in the place. If you don't make a reservation, at the very least call before leaving your house. While we waited, we saw a cook come out of the kitchen to grab fresh rosemary. I was excited to know that they care about the ingredients. I would say it is 5, because for Bradenton, FL -- the food is pretty good and as authentic as you are going to get within at least 30 miles. If you put this place in Washington, DC, I would probably give it a 4. It is still good, just not one of the best for the geographical area that it is being compared against. My mom (Czech and former owner of an East European restaurant) would probably say it is a 3. She said it tasted like someone opened up a cook book and tried to learn German. She said the strudel was doughy with no cinnamon. Other notes: I thought the atmosphere was cute. They have outside patio seating, but that didn't seem to be an option the evening we were there. I am used places with more of a mixed crowd, but when we were there, the majority of the patrons were of retirement age. I attribute this to the kids not knowing about the interesting beers and wines. We went on a Wednesday evening and there was a live music that was pretty good, however it was a little loud. The next time I am in Bradenton, I hope to bring my husband here.

I've been coming here for years and the food is great. So authentic, that sometimes you even get a short-tempered, mildly angry German waitress thrown in for good measure. When she turns her icy cold stare at you....makes me want to jump out my seat and yell "Jawohl, Herr Kommandant" while punctuating the phrase with a goose-step and a salute! :-)
