Enjoyed an excellent burger with great fries. The seared tuna in a salad was also delicious! A mellow local cafe with fast service too. Had a wonderful swordfish dinner there a few weeks ago. Highly recommended.

Excellent food and a rustic environment. I had the Havana burger special with hand cut fries. Havana burger was a beef patty with pulled pork, pickles, cheese, and fresh greens on a bun. Absolutely amazing. Tuna fish tacos were to die for..
(4)Helen L.
The food here is pretty good. I ordered the Tomato Blue soup and Californication sandwich. The only con was how dimly lit the place was inside; it made it hard to read the menu.

I wish someone would have told me how amazing Central Cafe is along time ago. This Cafe is the place to be in Bradenton. Honestly, hands down the best french fries I've ever had. They are authentic hand cut (homemade) potatoes. I ordered the portobello and Brie cheese burger and it was phenomenal (I think it was served on ciabatta bun...whatever it was it was mouth watering). The Central Cafe is eclectic & quaint! They play the most amazing music...the atmosphere is relaxing. They even have an outdoor patio area that screams "eat out here!" I did not want to leave...I could hang out there for hours. The service was world-class...the owner was the chef. THE OWNER COOKED MY FOOD TO PERFECTION! Proof that he takes pride in what he serves. I can't wait to go back...I think I could eat here everyday. I'm so excited because Central Cafe reminds me of some of my favorite places in Chicago.

Used to be our favorite spot, but the prices went up so high we rarely go here any more. The food is great, especially the homemade shoestring fries. Big salads. I hear the burgers are great, too. They took some stuff off the menu that we liked. We would probably return if the prices dropped back to normal.

Not enough good things to say about Central Cafe! The atmosphere is very cool and chic. High ceilings and cement floors, cool decor and a pretty large space. They had a full bar and a great craft beer selection. Can't go wrong with Darwin's and Motorworks, just to name a couple. Yaneli was our server and she was quick to greet us, grab drinks and let us know about today's specials. Very sweet and personable. We started out with the Bruschetta appetizer which was very different for me because I have never been a tomato fan, but the description made it sound like a must. There was a heaping pile of greens, cheese, and tomatoes topped on the warm seasoned bread it was served on. The vinegar reduction drizzled on top was "the icing on the cake." Great way to start. Mom and I had a rough time choosing so we decided to split the crab cake, and the pulled pork taco special. Nice portion sizes crab cake and it was filled with chunks of meat. Had a bed of greens on the side, along with some skinny crispy delicious fries. The pulled pork tacos were out of this world. Tender, well seasoned, great sauce, awesome portion. Unfortunately had no room left for dessert but Yaneli didn't fail to mention how good the peanut butter pie is, which I'll be sure to try next time I'm in! She also mentioned a few other desserts which sounded good, but too fixated on the pie to remember. Overall a great experience, and looking forward to returning.

A fantastic surprise. We stopped by traveling from St. Pete to Anna Maria. Great chicken salad (it's a BIG sammich), and the ahi tuna tacos are brilliant. On top of that the atmosphere was cool and the staff was super friendly. We'll be back!

This restaurant is a must visit! From the first moment you enter the decor sets a mood. A relaxed ambiance that is trying to do something different. Indeed they do that and do it well. The staff is extremely pleasant in all ways and very accommodating. The best thing on the menu are the malt vinegar fries. They come out fast and hot. They are presented on butcher paper and first your eyes are over taken and next their salty smell hits your nose. When a fry finally hits your tongue you will be enjoying every mouth watering bite. I have been a few times and I cannot wait to go back.
(5)Martha G.
My husband and I stumbled on this after a Dr.'s appointment in Bradenton. The atmosphere was neat and the food couldn't be beat! I had the Tomato Blue Soup and my husband had the Mediterranean salad. We shared the home cut fries. The soup was flavorful and creamy, served with a healthy sprig of parsley and a tasty crostini. The salad was bountiful with goodies and delicious fresh lettuces. The fries were served with malt vinegar. They were a little on the salty side but were flavorful. We would absolutely come back here and recommend it most highly!

Stopped in today about 2 pm for the very first time (thanks, Yelp) and was really surprised but the great atmosphere. Cool decor, good music, a well done ambiance, for sure. The server, Anja, was attentive, even though it looked like she was the only one on the floor and had about 4 tables inside and out. Made suggestions of the specials but I went w the French American - BLT w Brie was right up my alley! My only complaint was the bacon was cold, like it'd been sitting all day. While not greasy, I could still taste some. The only bummer. She did offer to take it back, but I didn't bother, the long roll, fresh tomatoes and crisp greens made it easy to overlook. French fries rocked. I was working thru lunch, papers and iPad spread out across the table. Was never rushed, was even offered coffee and told to take my time. I'll be back, for sure.

I LOVE this restaurant. Walking in, you wouldn't believe you were in a downtown Bradenton establishment. Central Cafe is located in a historic building, and the inside boasts lofted ceilings, exposed brick and a shabby/urban feel. The menu has an array of tasty offerings as well as daily specials. If you go, you MUST order the tomato blue cheese bisque, it is amazingly delicious. Central Cafe has various salads, sandwiches, pizzas and burgers on the menu as well. When I was there this past week, I chose to have the pork taco special which was delicious and filling. Central Cafe also serves dinner, and I look forward to returning for their dinner specials. But for lunch, it is a fabulous choice if you are in the downtown Bradenton area.

First of all I don't give out many 5 stars and this one is for the tomato soup. Don't get me wrong there are plenty of good items on the menu, but the soup is worth the trip. Pizza and sandwiches for lunch. A great little bar at night. Outdoor covered seating on the patio. Several homemade Wines to compliment your meal.
(5)Molly K.
Delicious food. The tomato soup is amazing. They have a great beer selection and a wonderful wait staff. They also have a full bar. We loved our lunch!
(5)Danielle D.
Was underwhelmed by this place. I had such high hopes for my lunch here. My lunch was good, just not great. Had the tuna sandwich. The sandwiches do not come with sides, so you need to add a side of fries. Sandwich with a side of fries and a soda was around $20. I do not mind paying for great meals, but I found my lunch to be just ok for the price. There are plenty of others places in the area I'd rather get my lunch.
(3)Paul R.
This is a tough review. This place screams good restaurant when you walk in the door Second the ingredients are very good. Sounds good so far right? Our server was subpar. We had to ask what the specials were, when asked to describe an app, what we got was very different than the description ask for lemon with tea etc. Prices were high but the ingredients were good quality usually I'm ok with that The big problem is everything is just thrown together A pile of lettuce, cheese not melted etc No creativity or thought given in the presentation I'm tempted to give 2 stars since you can fix the sandwich once you get it and the ingredients are a good quality ( except the bread tasted a bit hard, from yesterday) but you should not have to do that. This is getting a bit long winded so, the last thing is we paid $60 for 3 sandwiches 3 ice tea and a bun with semi melted cheese. I think you can find better
(1)Sherri M.
Loved the French fries. And they had fried okra. Sorry I didn't see it before I ordered.

Where the heck is Central Manatee? Central Cafe - Located in the center of what is now known as Bradenton after Manatee declared bankruptcy in the early 1940's and combined city's resources. It's housed in one of the oldest brick buildings just west of downtown. The huge opened space has a very simple brick interior with a viewable kitchen and a small but well equipped bar. Beer (Draft and Bottles), Wine (Imports and locally crafted by owners brother) and cocktails are available. Happy Hour runs from 4pm - 7pm (3.50drafts/4.00 house wine) Seating includes tables, highboys, barstools and outdoor tables are also available in the rear on a nicely covered patio. Restaurant is spotless. Menu is adequate including Soup, Salads, Sandwiches, Burgers, Pizza and Plates. Some of the highlights are Creamy Tomato Blue Soup ****(made with an infusion of Blue Cheese), Mediterranean Salad ****(Zucchini, Artichoke, Mandarin Oranges, Asparagus, Blue Cheese Crumbles and Greens, Parmesan with Vinaigrette), Hand-Cut Fries ***** (Slices So Thin and So Good), Portabella Mushroom Pizza *****(Roasted Peppers, Onion, Pesto and Cheese on a Cracker Thin Crust). Ahi Tuna was noted on several selections, but did not have the opportunity to try. Presentations of all dishes are above average. Servers and Staff are very friendly, perky and knowledgeable of their dishes and all work as a team. No issues, speedy service! Target customers are Local, Suits, Trendies, Foodies, Travelers, Hipsters and Snowbirds...Leave the Kiddies at home. Highly recommended for lunch or dinner. But, get there by 11:30am for outside seating, they get packed but appear to accommodate all inside. Ambience **** Food **** Service ***** Quality ***** Value**** Happy Trailz! .
(4)Michelle T.
The noise issue is out of control. It is excruciatingly apparent that they need to put in some sound buffering. After my most recent visit to Central at lunch, having to yell at the person across the table just to hold a conversation, and the pounding headache I had by the time I left, I can't say I will be returning. It is apparent that the food is good and that is why the place is full of people, but the acoustics in the building make for an ultimately unenjoyable experience. I hope the owner fixes the problem and I will gladly return. Until then, I'll dine elsewhere.

Delicious sandwich , got the French American one with Brie bacon and fresh tomatoes . French fries are the best I have tried in years ! Homemade !. The service was great and fast . Great great staff great experience
(5)S T.
What a great surprise! I was impressed with the food, service, and decor. It felt like a restaurant you could find in any large city.
(5)Paulette F.
We have had a fabulous lunch and 3 wonderful dinners and highly recommend thus hidden treasure to everyone!! The food is special and the service top notch!! 5 star quality!
(5)Coty S.
Many people from my job come here for lunch and always come back late, I guess because of the wait. So, I had to go to see what the big deal was. It is nothing good, just like The Recipe Box, and I think people just go there for decent atmosphere. I guess for the good people of Bradenton it is very trendy and city-like. They have a few select items that are decent like the Steak and Fries (dinner only) and the Blue Cheese and Tomato Soup. But, it is not worth the drive downtown and the parking nightmare to get some soup. Their lunch items are really bad. Last time we went I ordered the Italian sandwich, and it was tasteless and the bread was dry and crumbly. Ugh... My workmate ordered a salad that was all spring mix with a scoop of protein and mayo salad in the center. All he ate was the mayo scoop and none of the spring mix. It is all really expensive too. So if you must go here to support not-so-tasty local business, then I recommend doing so at dinnertime. Oh, and get the soup.
(2)JEREMY G.
Local gem just off the edge of downtown Bradenton. Very nice atmosphere with a great design in place. The staff was all very friendly and the food is top notch. Definitely go for a pizza or the tuna tacos. Best in the area.
(5)Michele R.
Stopped here based on Yelp reviews and was NOT disappointed! Restaurant has wonderful ambiance, very charming! I had the French American, husband had a jalapeño Swiss burger, daughters had chicken salad sandwich and a Caesar salad. All was amazing! Costa Rican Pineapple cake was fantastic! Highly recommended!
(5)Bruce N.
GREAT place! Food, ambiance, sweet people working there. Marc & Donna have helped make East Bradenton living a lot easier for us locals. The tomato soup is addictive. Love their chicken salad too. If you're wallet is thin, come for for lunch instead of dinner. Keep up the good work!
(5)Nicole K.
Really good food!! Cool trendy vibe with fresh interesting hand-crafted cocktails and farm-to-table local specials. The only reason we give it a four instead of five is b/c when we sat at the bar, the bartender who took our order was either painfully shy or very rude and didn't bother to speak to us unless we flagged him down and even then he didn't really offer any suggestions and just didn't seem to have any interest in doing anything but the bare minimum that was required. Aside from that it was a great restaurant with a non-pretentious, but still trendy vibe!
(4)Cathy M.
Everything I've had is GREAT. Only been in for lunch -- need to try it for dinner soon! Tomato Soup - my absolute favorite thing. Cheeseburger - good. Marley Bread - OMG. Amazing. Chicken Salad - huge and very tasty.
(5)Sharon C.
All I ever get is the pizza with artichokes, red peppers and capers: amazing!!!!
(5)Tony B.
A neat place and decent food. But with defective pricing. Too many places around with better food and prices. Had salads @ $13 each and they brought tiny little containers of dressing. We asked for extra and got charged $.50 for each. Oh, the service was horrible. Will not be back.
(1)Elaine S.
One of my favorite Friday night eating spots in Bradenton (not open of Saturday evenings.) Tomato blue cheese soup, excellent burgers on ciapatta rolls, best handcut fries in the world, coconut shrimp, salads, pizzas, the Friday night stuffed portobella mushroom was excellent. Super friendly service and nice urban feel. Beer and wine, and the desserts are good too. Prices seem fair to me. Just wish they were open on Saturdays.
(5)Jackie P.
Been here multiple times and everytime is really good. Good serice and really good food. Will definitely return.
(4)David M.
Here's the deal with this place. It's quaint, hip and the food is an attempt to put a gourmet twist on some everyday items. What this produces is a cool atmosphere with a handful of items which are good, but not as good as they should be for the price. An atmosphere like this is hard to come by in that area which is why I think it's so popular. My wife loves the places for their large salads, I always have to pick up something to eat a few hours after we leave. She would give it 5 stars, I give it 2.5. It's just - Ok.
(3)Jaima S.
I stumbled upon this restaurant a few years ago as it is right down the street from a lighting store that a very good family friend owns. I was in her store and was hungry and she recommended it. I have now eaten there about 5 times over the past 3 years when I'm in town. In fact, I plan my trips down there around being able to eat here at lunchtime. The inside and outside are both great spots to eat. The decor inside is rustic, yet modern and inviting. Outside the patio is surrounded by flowers and covered and this is where I sat on my most recent trip there this month. My mom and I split the Mediterranean salad, which comes with tons of roasted veggies....think asparagus, artichokes, tomato, capers, shaved parmesan etc. It is delicious and always appropriately dressed. We also had a pizza with spinach, artichoke and capers....man did we get our veggies in today. This the perfect amount of food to split. The pizza is thin and crispy crust with a good amount of cheese and toppings. It was piping hot and everything tasted very fresh. The service is always very good and my water glass was never lacking! This is a must for lunch in Bradenton!
(4)Alan S.
This is a great ind. Excellent, unpretentious food at reasonable prices. The Ahi Tuna was perfectly grilled, not overwhelmed by the pepper crust. The generous 8oz portion over greens was $18. Guest had the coconut shrimp over salad greens... also excellent. I'll be back every 2 weeks. Note: Lunch/Dinner weekdays only. No Sat/Sun.
(5)Lily H.
I love this place!! It makes me think I'm in New York and not in the middle of nowhere town and the price is not to extreme either, unless you're me and why to order everything and usually do!! So far I've had: 1. Blue Tomato Soup - blue cheese in tomato soup: awesome!! It's not to sour like most tomato soup, which I can't usually take. I'm also not a big fan of blue cheese because it's always so strong, however I can proudly say that I really like this soup and I order it every time. I would also suggest drink this while its still hot because the colder it gets the more sour it taste. 2. Figs with hot Brie Appetizer: Amazing! They don't have this on their menu. It was one of their specials the first time I went, however if you ask for it to see if they have it, the chefs may make it for you. 3. Their bread is really good too! Always fresh right out of the oven, we always have to ask for an extra basket especially when we have the Brie. 4. Seared Tuna - they have it anyway you can think of. I've tried the taco and the sandwich. I think the sandwich tastes better due to whats put in it. The fish on both is seared the same way and is alway done perfectly, not to overcooked for searing. Every time I go is when I'm craving these items so I really haven't had anything else. I know the chef's alway creating now entrées so I'm always up for trying them out next time. However, here's one bad thing, they do charge a "cork" charge for anything you bring in... even a birthday cake.....=_=;;!!!! This is the only reason why I would give it 4 stars
(4)Brian C.
Been there multiple times and have yet to be disappointed. Hard to believe that you're in Bradentucky when inside. The tomato blue soup alone is worth the trip. Excellent salads, sandwiches, and individual pizzas. Nice atmosphere. The only knock I give it is that it is VERY loud at peak lunch time. I highly recommend it.
(4)Paige T.
Atmosphere: feels like you stepped out of Bradenton... take that as you will. Love the food, especially the tomato blue soup and the salads. I would say that the food is definitely better than many places in town and is often inventive and quite good. Don't drive to Sarasota--just feel like you did!
(4)Alex H.
3 and a half stars. I have to remind myself to rate on an absolute scale and not just on the 'good for the area' curve. I used to go here for lunch almost once a week when I worked nearby and just went back last week when I was in town. The tomato blue soup is good but not quite as good as I'd recalled. Same with the chicken salad sandwich--absolutely above average but not quite in the I'd-go-back-just-to-get-it-again ballpark. The fries are still excellent and my wife had some really nice tuna tacos. Absolutely one of the better options in the area.
(4)Barry M.
The food was so good here, I evened walked to the kitchen and complemented the staff/owner on what a nice place and how fabulous the $22.00 ahi tuna was. Everything was great until we received our check and was charged .50 cents for some extra creamed wasabi sauce that I asked for. Keep in mine, the portion of tuna was worth the 22 bucks, but for the amount of tuna that was given, the wasabi sauce came up short. I asked the very nice waitress for some more and finished my delicious meal. I returned to the owner and told him I thought it was a bit cheesy, but not sure if I got through. My wife said I should do a Yelp and when I checked, sure enough I saw someone posted the same complaint. Mr. Mark, you have a wonderful restaurant here, rethink on the simple things that turn people off. I'm sure most of us could afford the .50 cents, but that's not the point. BTW, we didn't use any of your salt, have any water or use any ketchup.
(3)Rina A.
I love everything about this place EXCEPT the food. The atmosphere is great whether you're eating lunch or having dinner. However, decor and atmosphere can only take you so far.
(2)Taylor O.
Central Cafe has the greatest food in Bradenton. Their bread is to die for, and the soup is great. The Caprese salad is my usual, and the pesto dressing it unlike any other you've had. The price is more than I can afford on a regular basis, but I'll pop in for a beer and some bread if I'm short on cash - delicious carbicide. Oh, their fries are great too!
(5)Michael F.

I do not mind paying for great meals, but I found my lunch to be just ok for the price. There are plenty of others places in the area I'd rather get my lunch.

What a great surprise! I was impressed with the food, service, and decor. It felt like a restaurant you could find in any large city.

Local gem just off the edge of downtown Bradenton. Very nice atmosphere with a great design in place. The staff was all very friendly and the food is top notch. Definitely go for a pizza or the tuna tacos. Best in the area.

Everything I've had is GREAT. Only been in for lunch -- need to try it for dinner soon! Tomato Soup - my absolute favorite thing. Cheeseburger - good. Marley Bread - OMG. Amazing. Chicken Salad - huge and very tasty.

All I ever get is the pizza with artichokes, red peppers and capers: amazing!!!!

A neat place and decent food. But with defective pricing. Too many places around with better food and prices. Had salads @ $13 each and they brought tiny little containers of dressing. We asked for extra and got charged $.50 for each. Oh, the service was horrible. Will not be back.

I love everything about this place EXCEPT the food. The atmosphere is great whether you're eating lunch or having dinner. However, decor and atmosphere can only take you so far.

No Sat/Sun.

Atmosphere: feels like you stepped out of Bradenton... take that as you will. Love the food, especially the tomato blue soup and the salads. I would say that the food is definitely better than many places in town and is often inventive and quite good. Don't drive to Sarasota--just feel like you did!
