Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
Pizza
Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Absolutely wonderful family owned place. The atmosphere is intimate with dim lighting. Great for a romantic date or group of friends. The owners came around and said hi to everyone an made you feel like family (they did a way better job than the Olive Garden ;) The food was just fabulous. It did take awhile for our dinner so you may want to get an appetizer or munch on the warm bread and salad. We also had some of their dessert martinis. I can't say enough good about them! Then you can hop on over to the bar/lounge next door. It really did seem like everyone working there was close and enjoyed their job which makes it all the better for the patrons. I wanna work there!

I must say if you don't make a reservation don't expect to be seated especially during peak season. The food was amazing and the staff was ver friendly and accommodating. Don't expect the food To come Out lightning quick as everything is made to order. Food is about the same price as Carrabbas or Olive Garden but puts those Places to shame. Have fan uncle who Passed that was born and raised in Sicily and when I got the meatball appetizer (served with marinara and ricotta) and bit into it immediately I thought of his food. The food is amazing and since ive been on vacation here ive been here twice in a week. Ask for Carley to Serve you if she's here....owner is the chef and lots of items on the ingredients on the menu are purchased from local farms...

Love the Italian food. We went three times for lunch when it frankly was empty. The owner was there each time but never even bothered to say hello or thank you for coming. After the third time it just felt odd to be there. I guess I will miss the food but not the unwelcoming attitude.

How much did Carmen have to pay for each one of these reviews? We found this place on yelp and decided to try it. bad experience for myself and family. do not waste your time and effort on this one. there are way too many good italian restaurants in the area. Not as upscale as his prices call for. Food is worst than a frozen banquet dinner!! Owner very arrogant. No return for us.....

Good food but a little pricey.I would go back but probably not bring the kids next time

Food was good! Service was awful!!!!!!!! Awful!!!! When we asked about our food ( after waiting an hr for pizza and lasagna) we got the same song and dance as other reviews... Carmen hand makes everything from scratch yada yada yada... Wouldn't recommend unless you have your AARP card and plenty if time to wait!

First time to Carmen's food is very good but old style Italian ...therefore calories galore.. ...there are ways to have healthier Italian food ....FOOD CHANNEL people!!! family owned both the chef & his wife are lovely... came by the table to greet us ...3 stars.. However the food !! not so lovely... heavy creamy sauces ....lots of Marinara ,Marinara everywhere ....(on the sweet side)...house salad really quite humorous... was like something u would get at a diner on the road really!!! Chunks of lettuce (the spine ) and three small tomato quarters..dressing probably out of a bottle (do u know how easy it is to make a fabulous dressing.... cooking 101.....) wine list uneventful limited....staff need some training with regard to wine service.:( Didn't care for the entertainment!!! again old old & loud even in the dining room ...was waiting for Lawrence Welk to break out yeah I know who the hell is that u might ask !!!! Ask your grandparents... Probably won't return..... it is Bradenton and what choice does one have?? So sad ... Cook at home ...??? Can't wait for this area to get with it.......

We had THE most incredible dinner there tonight. I told my husband that my fish was so beautiful and tender I had to eat it with a spoon! He just couldn't resist! I had the grouper in lemon sauce with pasta but not too much pasta as to feel like you are at Olive Garden where they are throwing pasta at you as a filler! He always knows the exact amount of everything. I almost always get the mussels in white sauce because they are the best anywhere! Tonight I tried the fish and NOW I am "hooked!"

The food we had was good and the portion larger than expected....BUT... Every pizza was $30 pizza?!?! That's nuts... The iced tea tasted like vegetables...odd I know, but that's the only way I can think of to describe it... We wanted to have soup instead of salad and were told we would have to buy the cup or bowl in addition to the meal because they do not offer an up-charge for soup option...

Went there yesterday for the first time for my birthday. I absolutely loved it. The food was excellent...especially the brushetta. The service was great. The setting is very intimate. If you're looking for a romantic night out with your partner and good food, definitely try this place.

Very authentic italian for the area My wife and I started with homemade italian wedding soup very delicious, we then had main courses of a lobster special and a manicotti Both were very good but buyer beware, as unbeknownst to us, the lobster special was $55, which we did feel was very steep, so if ordering a special make sure you check the price. We certainly felt they should have informed us with a price that steep. The servers were informative, however our server was poor We would go back though, as better informed patrons.

First time here. We came for my birthday. The food was very good and the service was...ok....the waitress we had was very sweet. However it took an hour and a half to finally get our food. So if you are in a hurry forget it and as the owner not so politely put it..."Our food is not fast food. He cooks everything to order and it takes time. So if you are expecting fast food this isn't the place." My guests were not happy with that comment at all. The place is also very pricey. So 3 stars for good food but that's it!

Too many flaws. Food was pretty good ( We both had the Carmen's veal) but: The plates should have been warm, the veal had too much flour, the spaghetti should have been on a separate plate. Since the pretty good sauce was dumped on top, the spaghetti sucked up all the sauce. The wait staff isn't trained - our young woman server said "No problem" at least three times - I know it shouldn't make me crazy, but it does. The food took a long time to arrive. Since the portion wasn't that large, we thought we'd have dessert. Eating Companion asked for a decaf cappuccino - "I'm sorry we've run out". OK, how about a decaf coffee? "I'm sorry, we've run out of that, too". Forget dessert, says we. No one from owner/management came by to see how we were doing. I suspect we won't go back - hey, no problem.

Best Italian restaurant in Sarasota/Bradenton! Small family-owned place with outstanding food and friendly, warm service. The sauce on the veal Marsala was rich and delicious, as good as any I've had in NY or Italy. My wife had pistachio-crusted grouper that she loved, and she is picky about fish. A good friend had the veal shank, and he raved about it. The prices are reasonable, and there are some good house wine selections. Kay, wife of Chef Carmen, goes out of her way to be welcoming. Don't be deceived by the out-of-the-way strip mall location on SR 64. This place is truly a gem!

Our first dinner at Carmen's was delicious. Everything is made to order and authentic Italian cuisine. The salad and bread were average, but the hot hand towel following the meal was an unexpected pleasure. We will return and plan to order their specialty pizza.

It was bound to happen. Since moving to the Bradenton area recently, my wife and I have been very impressed with the many restaurant offerings and found for the most part the quality restaurants here were as good as our favorite haunts in NYC. What was bound to happen was being disappointed. It would be hard to be more disappointed than this visit to Carmen's. Awful, Awful. While the interior appointments were inviting, it quickly became apparant that was where it ended. The service was horrible from almost the moment we walked in. The ceiling fans were going full tilt, making certain seating choices too cold. We requested the fans to be placed on a lower setting and found that other patrons had made the same request earlier. Everyone was uncomfortably waiting for an extremely simple adjustment to be made and relieved when someone thought it important enough to do. Finally seated we were able to order drinks. After which a couple who had reservations were seated and got all the attention from that point onward. It was hard to get our waitress's attention to simply order our appetizer and later then our meal. My wife summoned someone who appeared to be a manger or perhaps the owner's wife, she did not introduce herself. She made subtle attempts to check on our progress. The food was tasty but no where great enough to make amends for the horrible service. When the bill came it was for another table. Perhaps, I should have paid it and said nothing as it was her mistake and just an example of the horrible service, it was far less than our mediocre meals and it was for the couple who got all the attention. I pointed out the mistake and paid for the proper bill. The excuse from the waitress was that she was "out of it this evening". The reason we go out to eat is for the service. If we are made to feel it wasn't important to anyone that we made this business choice then it won't be our choice again. The thoughtlessness of her excuse is but the prime example of the bad service. A simple apology would have been better than telling us you had no intention of providing us with service. The restaurant was not that busy for such out right bad service. The food almost approached that of an Italian restaurant in Little Italy in New York but on the side of pricey and no where the needed quality to off set the horrible service. We found it particularly disappointing as it is fairly close to home and thought we might rely on it for more nights out. Sadly, no, it will be a long time till we return if ever again,

Been here multiple times! Always delicious with unique chef choices nightly. Genuine Italian! Kay goes out of her way to greet all patrons. Freshest scallops ever had in 30 years dining in the area. Carman and Kay will make your experience special if you.let them! And their martini bar is excellent and affordable . An amazing find in Manatee county!!!!! Go!!!! Manga.

The food was quality, the service was great. They have live entertainment on the weekends. Very nice place, would stop in again.

Just terrible. Waited over an hour between the soup and the main course, when I complained the hostess and waitress acted as if I was being unreasonable. "Carmen's food was worth the wait" not so much. The meat sauce was greasy and the meat was tough. It could have been jar sauce.
