My coworker told me to hit up this spot on the drive home. I called in take out of a large soup, 1 spring roll and a small shrimp lo mein. It was quickly ready and inexpensive. The food was great. I am so excited that I found this place as I about gave up on take out Chinese near my house. Not sure I would eat in as the place definitely caters to an older crowd, but did seem clean and nice.

First off, service here is super friendly. The waitress and owner were quite pleasant and nice. However, the food itself is decent enough, but not great. I ordered the chicken with peanuts and chili sauce. The lunch does down with an egg roll and soup---most Chinese places for lunch only offer either but not both---but my main dish was kinda... eh. It certainly was not spicy and I felt the portion to be a but in the small side. For me, I would rather get take out from one of the nearby Chinese places, which offer better quality.

The other night, I wanted Chinese. It didn't even have to be perfect. I wanted the greasy sweet & sour chicken and that was my mission. I found Mr. Shen's on Yelp. It is located on the SW corner of Lyons and Glades. It's next to a dry cleaner, which is convenient also. Upon walking in, I was greeted by someone. I requested a take-out menu. I asked for a recommendation, other than what I wanted. You know you're going to have leftovers, so why not order something extra? The gentleman at the front recommended the spicy chicken with orange flavor. It came with a soup, rice and roll. I got the egg roll, fried rice and vegetable soup. I also ordered the sweet & sour chicken and a small order of vegetable lo mein. It took about 15 minutes for them to prepare my order. Meanwhile, I sat there listening to the gentleman at the front (maybe the owner?) and a server having a conversation with one of the customers who came in to order food. They were very amusing to say the least. I can't remember the last time when I heard political banter between a few people amuse me as they did. Of course, I wasn't really supposed to be listening to their conversation, but I was sitting right next to them. I couldn't really help it. This is my kind of place. :-) I started with the egg roll. I dipped it in the sweet & sour sauce. Wow, best egg roll I've ever had! I'm not exaggerating. Normally, I go for the spring rolls because you never know what you're going to get. However, I decided to gamble and won this time. Then, I moved on to the orange chicken with broccoli and bits of mushroom. The sauce was somewhat sweet, but not spicy. The broccoli was crunchy. Then I tried some of the fried rice, which was bland. I moved on to what I went there for in the first place, the sweet & sour chicken. This was pretty good. The breading was a bit bland also. Of course, then again, it could have been me. I don't have the least bit of doubt in my palate though. The vegetable lo mein was awesome. The vegetables were crunchy and the noodles were perfectly cooked. I actually couldn't eat anymore after this and had the soup the following day. The vegetables in the soup were also surprisingly crunchy! I don't even like cabbage, but it was delicious! I wasn't looking for perfect or even extremely authentic. I just wanted some down and dirty American-Chinese. This place completely fulfilled my wish. I will definitely return here in the future.

This is my favorite Chinese restaurant. The food is consistently good. It is a neighborhood restaurant that has traditional Chinese entrees. I love their egg drop soup. My cousin always orders shrimp with lobster sauce. He says it's delicious. I like the jade dishes. They're not on the menu, but are listed on the outside chalkboard. Different green vegetables with chicken, beef, shrimp, or tofu, in a white or brown sauce. I prefer the brown. The vegetables taste fresh and are not overcooked. I've eaten several of their entrees and everything has been good. I heard that the owner is also the chef. Service is great. The servers are friendly and go out of their way to be helpful. One thing that is good to know. The menu lists many, "Early Bird Dinners". The early bird dinners come with your choice of soup, egg roll, fried or white rice, tea, and dessert. You don't have to worry about missing the early bird because it's served all the time.

This "restaurant" is the reason why I created this Yelp account. The restaurant was cramped, stuffy, and had a very unpleasant smell; I felt like I was breathing through a thick and very dusty curtain. Once seated, my waiter spilled water on the table and on my lap, nervously laughed, and then left without helping clean the mess up or even apologizing. Food: I do not know how this place receives reviews higher than 1 star! The food is disgusting. The sauces taste as if McDonalds started a Chinese chain and sold all of its most bland, watery, and overly-sweet sauces to this establishment. ALL of the food tasted frozen and cheap. This is the kind of restaurant where you leave feeling nauseous and sick to your stomach. I urge you not to dine at this foul-smelling, cramped, and, frankly, revolting establishment. Take your business elsewhere. Uncle Tai's is a good Chinese spot in Boca.

I was almost tempted to copy, cut and paste Herbs' review as mine. Without rehashing much, Mr. Shen's is a no-frills authentic NYC style Chinese restaurants. Being that Boca Raton is practically the 6th borough of New York, it's fitting that Mr. Shen's resides in it. Things I like to look for in places like these. Is it cleanly? Yes. Is the service good? Yes. Do they use quality ingredients? Yes. And lastly, is the food good? Yes. Out of all of the Chinese restaurants in Central to West Boca, I have to say Shen's takes the title. They have an array of combo dinners but I'd recommend doing take-out, otherwise you'll be breaking bread with Century Village. The staff is nice, though the owner who mans the register can be a bit cold, but that's just a cultural thing. I'd imagine putting up with all these fogies for 20+ years his tolerance has waned a bit. He could come off the like Asian soup nazi or your typical type A. But he warms up after awhile, I promise. The Chow Fun is good but the spicy garlic chicken has always been my dish of choice.

Finally found a Chinese restaurant that did not try to be everything to everybody. They do a great job preparing Chinese favorites. The shrimp were plump and tender, chicken tender, ribs outstanding! Veggies were crisp as well. Prices are very reasonable and service was friendly and prompt.

On entering we encountered an offensive musty smell but soon acclimated. Server was friendly and the place seemed crowded for lunch. Interior was well decorated. The problem here was the food. Hot and sour soup was passable but needed pepper. Chicken and eggplant had a sauce that was too sweet. The chicken was not cut from the bone. It consisted of the thin, curly, uniformly rectangular white meat pieces common to South Florida takeout. Chow fun noodles were quite greasy. Shrimp was deveined but of low quality. Fried rice was really bad tasting. In fact, it was the worst I have ever sampled in a Chinese restaurant. The restaurant has a good location in West Boca but we will not be returning.

This restaurant is clean, small and friendly. We come here from Wisconsin once a year and this visit was less satisfying than last years. Food was presented very nicely. The cashew chicken however lacked the expected carrots and celery being replaced apparently with zucchini. The sweet-and-sour chicken was attractively presented but unfortunately was off flavor. The included ice cream dessert was a nice conclusion to the dinner.

Mr. Shen's is my favorite Chinese restaurant hands down. Literally every single time I go in, they are exceptionally generous and kind. Every single one if them is sweet and attentive. The food is outstanding, always fresh and made to order. I've had the beef and broccoli, sesame chicken, moo goo gai pan, and the sweet and sour chicken. All delicious. The fried rice is a good compliment to any dish, although not outstanding in it's own right. The hot tea they provide is bottomless and so are the crunchy noodles. The soups are all good, the dumplings are great and the egg rolls are incredible- delicious but not too heavy. I always recommend this place for a great Chinese food experience.

Guys I see eveyones looking for best chines food in Boca Raton area. I can't believe that Mr Shens is not on Yelp and I had to add it. The GOOD This place has been in business over 20 years in Boca which is and INCREDIBLE feat. No website no advertising just good NY style Chinese Food and Great prices. The Noodles are freshly made just like NY. The soups are super and the food is well, like I said like you would get in your fair to average local Chinese joint in NY, but in Florida it shines. The same waitresses have been there for a decade or more and they still speak broken English as if it was their first day in America - think Full Metal Jacket - "me love you long time" and you get the picture. Ok now the bad. This is the place over run buy old people. Im not talking a little old Im talking major oldness!! See grandma and grandpa here for sure! Sometimes I have actually seen the grim reaper sitting in the back waiting to snatch one of these oldies. Ok seriously here what you need to know. Either order to take out OR simply go here AFTER 8PM as all the grandmas and grandpas have left to go to bed and the place is all yours to enjoy. PS Lunch deals are unbeatable $7.95 and no oldies

I am in complete agreement with the previous reviewer Herb. For solid, comfort and quality Chinese food, this is the place. You can get it fancier, prettier and more expensive at other Boca Chinese establishments, but you won't get it any tastier. The fried dumplings are great, the garlic chicken stands out and even the fried rice can't be matched anywhere in town. Shen's understands quality food and you won't be cheated or unpleasantly surprised here. The crowd can be ancient, so order takeout or come after the sun sets. I've tried other Chinese, but no one beats Shen's on a consistent basis.

This place seems like a hidden gem. A few of my friends were looking for Chinese one night and we took a shot at this place and was pleasantly surprised. The food is excellent, very fresh, well portioned and quite tasty they also understand my spice level. This place is very family friendly with very inviting servers and the manager is also friendly. I am now a regular here and I still have not been disappointed and the owner recognized me already on my second visit. The service and personalization is what gave it the extra star in my book since that seems to be rare these days.

If you're 75 years or older and want 'eh' Chinese food, this is the place for you! Came here for takeout on a Sunday evening; the place was packed with a 30 minute wait for a table. The crowd was pretty much all senior citizens. The atmosphere was actually pretty classic in terms of the Chinese theme, but it needed a good cleaning as the place smelled a bit musky. They also have a "no cell-phone" policy, which irks me considering this isn't a place with a high enough stature for me to even consider that. The food overall was pretty subpar. The General Tso Chicken was about 70% breading, and 30% chicken, and even then it just wasn't very flavorful. The Wonton Soup is basically flavored water, the wontons are tiny, and half of the container is filled with lettuce. The soup looked like an aquarium. The egg rolls are a bit bland and not crispy enough to be enjoyed. The Pepper Steak however was actually flavorful, and it was the only dish I enjoyed. Overall, the quality of the food is poor, and in addition the portion sizes for takeout I found were pretty small. The price for this food was about $35, which is not exactly a deal, especially since the portions were tiny. We are snowflakes not fully familiar with the restaurants in our area which seem to proliferate on a daily basis. Since we didn't feel like dealing with the crowds at the somewhat expensive, but excellent Uncle Tai's ... we decided to use Yelp in finding some decent asian cuisine.... and found a 4 and a half star Chinese restaurant near our Florida condo ..my oh my .....how disappointing ..Mr.Shen's is nothing more than another mini-mall typical Chinese takeout spot ...which works out well for those on a budget or in the the early bird set.Let's start with a hot sour soup..generic ,lacking flavor and thickened with a hefty dose of starch....the fried rice was flavorless without any pork ...the main dishes such as chicken with eggplant, pork with black bean sauce, and shrimp with chili sauce were nothing special. They were just "there" fufilling there role as " chinese food"...the service was very friendly and the owners were cordial...I take no great pleasure and criticizing a family owned restaurant..but our Yelp readers should not be misled by overly generous reviews of Mr Shens.Perfect take out spot.

Mr. Shen's has the best Chinese food I've ever eaten. I especially love their General Tso's chicken. It could melt in your mouth. They also have the best hot and sour soup. Great noodles,great rice, spring rolls, in fact everything is great. They give you dessert, cake, ice cream, sherbet it's all first rate.Their staff is friendly and efficient. Mr. Shen's is spotlessly clean. Everything is first-rate. I can't find anything wrong. They get my highest recommendation and I dislike most Chinese food.

This is a small neighborhood restaurant. The servers are friendly, have a sense of humor, and give you great service. The special was shrimp and veggies with rice. They threw in a lobster tail. (Maine, not Florida). Needless to say, great food. I recommend them. Don't look for cloth tablecloths, just a great meal

I am in complete agreement with the previous reviewer Herb. For solid, comfort and quality Chinese food, this is the place. You can get it fancier, prettier and more expensive at other Boca Chinese establishments, but you won't get it any tastier. The fried dumplings are great, the garlic chicken stands out and even the fried rice can't be matched anywhere in town. Shen's understands quality food and you won't be cheated or unpleasantly surprised here. The crowd can be ancient, so order takeout or come after the sun sets. I've tried other Chinese, but no one beats Shen's on a consistent basis.

This place seems like a hidden gem. A few of my friends were looking for Chinese one night and we took a shot at this place and was pleasantly surprised. The food is excellent, very fresh, well portioned and quite tasty they also understand my spice level. This place is very family friendly with very inviting servers and the manager is also friendly. I am now a regular here and I still have not been disappointed and the owner recognized me already on my second visit. The service and personalization is what gave it the extra star in my book since that seems to be rare these days.

If you're 75 years or older and want 'eh' Chinese food, this is the place for you! Came here for takeout on a Sunday evening; the place was packed with a 30 minute wait for a table. The crowd was pretty much all senior citizens. The atmosphere was actually pretty classic in terms of the Chinese theme, but it needed a good cleaning as the place smelled a bit musky. They also have a "no cell-phone" policy, which irks me considering this isn't a place with a high enough stature for me to even consider that. The food overall was pretty subpar. The General Tso Chicken was about 70% breading, and 30% chicken, and even then it just wasn't very flavorful. The Wonton Soup is basically flavored water, the wontons are tiny, and half of the container is filled with lettuce. The soup looked like an aquarium. The egg rolls are a bit bland and not crispy enough to be enjoyed. The Pepper Steak however was actually flavorful, and it was the only dish I enjoyed. Overall, the quality of the food is poor, and in addition the portion sizes for takeout I found were pretty small. The price for this food was about $35, which is not exactly a deal, especially since the portions were tiny. I cannot in good faith endorse Mr Shen's Peking Chinese Restaurant; food is mediocre at best, and it doesn't come at a price that justifies it. Food (C), Pricing (C-), Atmosphere (C+), Service (B)

Best Chinese in West Boca. I've been coming here since I moved from Jersey 13 years ago. It's not NY Chinese but its a solid choice. House mixed Fried rice is my fav. Check it out

We are snowflakes not fully familiar with the restaurants in our area which seem to proliferate on a daily basis. Since we didn't feel like dealing with the crowds at the somewhat expensive, but excellent Uncle Tai's ... we decided to use Yelp in finding some decent asian cuisine.... and found a 4 and a half star Chinese restaurant near our Florida condo ..my oh my .....how disappointing ..Mr.Shen's is nothing more than another mini-mall typical Chinese takeout spot ...which works out well for those on a budget or in the the early bird set.Let's start with a hot sour soup..generic ,lacking flavor and thickened with a hefty dose of starch....the fried rice was flavorless without any pork ...the main dishes such as chicken with eggplant, pork with black bean sauce, and shrimp with chili sauce were nothing special. They were just "there" fufilling there role as " chinese food"...the service was very friendly and the owners were cordial...I take no great pleasure and criticizing a family owned restaurant..but our Yelp readers should not be misled by overly generous reviews of Mr Shens.Perfect take out spot.

Mr. Shen's has the best Chinese food I've ever eaten. I especially love their General Tso's chicken. It could melt in your mouth. They also have the best hot and sour soup. Great noodles,great rice, spring rolls, in fact everything is great. They give you dessert, cake, ice cream, sherbet it's all first rate.Their staff is friendly and efficient. Mr. Shen's is spotlessly clean. Everything is first-rate. I can't find anything wrong. They get my highest recommendation and I dislike most Chinese food.

Good service, good food, and reasonable prices. What else can one ask for. It's a little hard to find but well worth the hunt. The owner is almost always on premise and you can tell he cares.

This is a small neighborhood restaurant. The servers are friendly, have a sense of humor, and give you great service. The special was shrimp and veggies with rice. They threw in a lobster tail. (Maine, not Florida). Needless to say, great food. I recommend them. Don't look for cloth tablecloths, just a great meal

Only come here if you have a free night and nothing to do but wait. We have been here for over an hour eating Chinese soup noodles
