Good grouper. Fun outside with live music and good food right on the water. Some interesting memorabilia and souveniers.

Went there for lunch one day with a friend. Took one hour to get our market price fish sandwiches. Had to find the waitress 2 times for more drinks. When I got the bill the market priced fish sandwiches were over $20 each. Expensive lunch and terrible service. Bathroom smells like trash dump. After all of that I had to hunt down the waitress to pay. I was warned by everyone. Now I know why.

Well yeeeehaaaw! The Navi-gator is about as authentic Florida as it gets. For those of you Hart of Dixie fans this is the "Rammer Jammer" sunshine state style!! Expect gator bites, decent burgers, cheap beer, and a good old fashioned great time. Don't sit inside, park your fanny outside near the water on a sandy beachy area.... And don't mind the occasional fly buzzing your shrimp basket. You will have plenty of things to look at including some Florida boat relics and hell.....maybe the only REAL stuffed Florida Panther in existence. Don't expect 5 star cuisine, but bet your sunburned neck your going to have a nice time.

Food: 3 Service: 2 Decor: -1 (the place is filthy) Ambiance: 4 All-in-all a just-OK place, better if you are a tourist who wants to sample some old Florida charm. Best bet is to eat somewhere else first and come here for a beer.

Fun place. Florida atmosphere. Indoor and outdoor seating. We were there for the music. Lively and enjoyable. Grouper sandwich huge. Friendly prompt and efficient. Not fancy. Just Florida Swamp style.

Nice place for lunch. Don't go expecting a four star meal but the food is decent. A fun place to eat. Friendly service and ok food. The drinks are good too but heavy on the alcohol so be careful. Oh, and coke won't counter the effects just in case you were taking the advice of some other reviewer. I got a salad with grilled chicken on top. Very juicy, flavorful chicken with a healthy good size fresh salad. Only complaint is that oil and vinegar was only healthy choice. He got a burger which to me appeared to have been frozen.... So not my scene. The key lime pie at this place is great! I don't care where it is made it is good.

Cool environment but worst service I have ever seen in a restaurant. Waited almost 2 hours just for a waitress, flagged one down she said rudely one second, never came back so we left. Lost 8 people ordering dinner and coming back. Only good for a beer outside. Do not try to eat here.

Great fish and chips and coconut shrimp!!! Relaxing and fun environment. Service was a little slow, but everything else was pretty good!

My beloved Mother loves this joint. I see the charm, too. Rustic, removed, remote, off the beaten path, and set upon the Peace River, the place is an old Florida-esque gem. The joint is famous for their Grouper Sammy and the physical plant has lots of personality. Tiny little bar befitting the space. Good stuff.

Great place for a stop off. Don't expect too much. Good atmosphere for a laid back afternoon. Top it all off with the very special key lime pie and you have to ask for the special pie!

Not 5 star by some but to have a good time good service and food it is a 10 try to get there at least once a month. Service I think is excellent and I give a place 1 chance only. Don't remember girls names that serve but are friendly and keep an eye on your drink to keep it full. This is the old Florida atmosphere. Love it

Dirty restaurant with expensive and mediocre tasting food. We were hoping for great grouper meal but were quite disappointed by the taste, price and ambiance. Service was nice but overworked and slow. Other staff even operated a tractor/backhoe just feet from our table. Will not return.

Mother of God. I worked in the industry for over a decade, front and back of house. I am morally opposed to yelp because everyone makes mistakes, and often the wrong people end up getting in trouble / losing business from the ignorant reviews of the over privileged clientele. Hoowweevveerrr.... This was far and away the worst experience I've ever had. Let's keep it short: 20 minutes for menus (we had to share) 20 minutes to order Drinks took forever Food took forever Child's grilled cheese didn't come (wtf, bring it first, c'mon!) The salads came without dressing OK, so at this point, no biggie. It's a divey joint, and whatever. We pointed out the things we needed (forgot to point out we were short on silverware) and patiently waited. The kiddo had a root beer float so we eventually started eating since we were starving and she could pick off our plates. Didn't seem so rude until we had all finished and she still had no food. 3 employees later, a grilled cheese finally arrived. The dressing for the salad finally arrived. No apologies did. Oops, it was mislabeled. Salad now covered in tartar sauce. Lots of time passes, drinks never come, etc. Manager eventually comes over (we had asked for them). He seemed confused, as we had a grilled cheese now and tartar sauce is not a weird thing to use as a dressing. He eventually offered to take the salad off. He apologized for our miscommunicating with the server. Um. Then he came back and said he didn't realize the salad was so expensive, and thus would not be comped. He offered key lime pie instead. It came, eventually, and inside the whipped cream topping was a tasty plastic surprise! Seriously. Drinks finally come. Instead of his soda my 17 year old brother is given a bud light long neck. We gave it to the rightful owners one table down. His drink never did come. Bill time!! Bill l 1: not ours (though in retrospect we should have taken it, much cheaper.) Bill 2: looks like ours, if you duplicated everything Bill 3: dude. This is the same bill. Bill 4: I don't understand, this is just duplicated, just take off the duplicates Bill 5: just one! We had one! Bill 6: yes. This is a complete bill. With everything we ordered on it. Everything. The asinine part of this is that I get it. But it was weird. Nobody was flustered like they were busy (which it certainly didn't appear to be) or embarrassed, and nobody really apologized. The best we got was a "sorry guys" as the final check was pushed down the bar from the server, sans eye contact or even feigned sincerity.

This place is a hoot. We came here by boat up the Peace River from Punta Gorda. The staff was helpful and accommodating. My wife and I had the Super Grouper plate. We also had the best gator bites and conch fritters ever. (I could actually taste more conch than bread). Even on Thursday afternoon this place was packed. Be prepared to wait 5-15 minutes.

Poor service and worse food. The shrimp was flavorless, coleslaw tasted like it was off the shelf store bought. The wait staff seemed more interested in talking to the men at the bar then the tables. I sat there almost to the point of getting up and leaving before someone came over to ask for my drink order. It's a shame because it has a great location and potential to be a good little bar/grill.

I expected a lot of fun here but okay it's noon Sunday and the fun crowd is absent so we made a quick stop walked around the outside area and quickly mounted our Harley's and rode away in search for a happening bikers bar & grill.....until I find it, be well my virtual friends!

Great food and a lot of great people! I recommend the Island Monkey drink. Have 2 of them, not three!

I love the outdoor atmosphere - we could have just stayed all afternoon with drinks. However, the service was slow - not the waitress' fault - they just did not have enough help on this past Veteran's Day. So it took us 25 mins to get drink orders, but once it got started, service was OK. I would go back occasionally to take a canoe ride down the river, then finish up there w/ some lunch and drinks. My idea of a good time.

Food ah not so good, crowd is big service is good. Also a good area to Kayak and boat rank and parking at nearby park. I guess OK for tourist. Maybe I am just getting old but I would love to go to a place and hear some music and still be able to have a conversation. I guess maybe if you want to tune your date out the go to a FL club with music, I guess you can text back and forth how romantic.

Great chow and service, but we paid for it the next day. Both of us got sick and won't go back.

What helps the Nav-A-Gator is the atmosphere. It's cool. Nothing stands out in particular, but it's still a cool place to stop when I'm out riding.

Bar food. Nachos with liquid cheese - not my style. BLT was good. They were out of the grouper!.I hate to admit the deep fried twinkies were excellent! I want to go back on a night w/music.
(3)Terry F.
Appetizers were good, shrimp and gator bites are hard to mess up. Crowd noise was so loud, could not hear the entertainer very well. Fish from the fish and chips was mushy and did not eat it. Steak was over cooked for medium. Would not go there for the food.

This is BY FAR one of my favorite SW Florida places. It's not fancy, and doesn't try to be. It's laid back old time Florida feel. If you want to experience a fun day, great live music and a cold drink on the Peace River.. THIS is the place! Snowbird season can be busy... so plan accordingly. Great Hapy Hour and some of the best burgers in town. The Crowd IS loud.. This is an establishment that promotes and supports live music... If that is NOT your thing.. please do the rest of us a favor and stay away. Locals are really tired of your complaints. If you like live music, this is the best venue in the all of Florida. I really wish the Bikers would be more considerate and NOT rev their bikes when the music is playing (thats inconsiderate). Great place to come by car or boat. Bartenders and staff are some of the hardest working people in the industry... they really hustle and want you to enjoy your experience. Ask the bartender about the drink of the day... it's always something fun and different. I would avoid the fish here... They used to be famous for their grouper sandwhich... now you can smell it before it hits the table. Avoid that. Go with the chicken, burgers and other delicious sandwhiches or platters.

Very disappointed. Just moved in the area from Ohio and was told that this place would be a great place to go with our boat and eat and travel up the river. The ride was about the only thing that impressed me. We finally found the place and found that the channel wasn't marked other than a very very small sign that said Nav-a-Gator luckily it was high tide because we where told that a sandbar was in middle of the canal enterance. The so called Desota marine looks like it went bankrupt over 60 percent of the docks where unsafe to dock and wouldn't recommend walking on them only one dock had caution tape around it and the rest where halfway in the water. (note to owner "purchase some more caution tape or take them down before someone gets hurt") there was also a BIG sign at the pump that said "NO GAS" will report this to Boat US since this is a so called Boat US approved marina. Now a little about the restraunt. The food was just ok and very over priced for what I would consider fast food quality. Had two Bloody Mary's with my meal and asked for a coke to conter the drinks, since I was driving the boat back. Was surprised that I was charged for the coke since I ordered two bar dinks at $5.50 a piece. When I asked the server/bartender about it she just said that's how we do it here. The total cost with a tip was $60.00 and I deducted the charge for the coke off of the tip "That's the way I do it" I wouldnt waste your money.

From what I can remember about the Nav-a-Gator were there boat trip and lunch specials. This is a good place for the tourist. They have a museum out in the back of the restaurant. The food here is really good but can be a bit on the pricey side. It is worth the trip to check it out. I also forgot to mention that Nav-a-Gator has their own style of beer, which I found was pretty good.

Greasy, poor quality, and expensive (8-14 bucks for a fish sandwich with NO sides). Greasy onion rings likely from a bag. Place is a dump too (Dives are good, dumps are bad).
