I've had a craving for sushi since last night so I decided to make a pickup order today for lunch. Not only did I have to wait for a few minutes to get greeted (the place was dead), the server gave me the stink eye when I handed her a coupon, and when she handed me my tab to sign she disappeared. After waiting for a few minutes to give her my signed copy, I left it near the host stand area. I hope they got it. I realize that the place can get busy sometimes, but it was 10 minutes after they opened with only one or two tables occupied. It's entirely way too early to be that bitchy. Everyone has bad days. Hopefully the wait staff doesn't continue this trend.

One of the best sushi restaurants in the Orlando area. Don't miss the fuji apple roll or the krab special roll. Some good options for vegetarians too. The weekday lunch specials are affordable and delicious too! On the lunch menu, try either the Sushi A or B combinations. The boxes are good too if you want something other than just Sushi.

I didn't get it...the sushi rolls were not that good. Tried three different kinds ( Renaissance , apple, and another one with tempura shrimp). All just not even as good as publix. Maybe I'm too spoiled from eating at Amura or Fugi Sushi. For $25 for lunch, I expected better, especially from the good reviews.

I go to this sushi spot once every 2 weeks. The price and quality are great and I can't find another sushi place in Orlando with this value. Even compared to the expensive places this place has comparable quality.

This place has great sushi for the price. The rolls are smaller sized but priced lower than other places. My wife and I order two each and are satisfied but not stuffed. The service is always good and there has never been a wrong order or a wait. This is a great little sushi restaurant that is fast and casual.

So disappointing. We came here a week ago and had great service from Kevin and the food was delicious. We were so excited to find a great sushi place nearby. We thought we'd go back for my birthday on Saturday night. Huge mistake. We had a new waitress who had no idea what she was doing and the service was horrible. It wasn't the waitress's fault because no one was helping her at all. We waited almost an hour at our table for our appetizers, which never arrived, so we decided to leave for another restaurant. They were unbelievably unorganized and we are sorry to say we will never be back. What a shame.

We found this place one night when we were going to the nearby movie theatre... 3 years later and we're still going, every Friday. The service is impeccable, and the food is delicious. The sushi is always fresh, and the presentation is outstanding. We've tried other sushi places nearby but we keep coming back to Hana. The wait staff is friendly and attentive. We're spoiled by them now... They bring our drinks to us before we even order them.

Good service. Rolls decent but hard to compare to what I had last night (sushi, which was amazing...) So perhaps I'm rating it down because of that. Orlando has yet to impress me with it's culinary talent. Don't get me wrong, for what Orlando and metro areas have to offer, this place is good. Give it a go if your tastebuds know no other.

Tried this rest in Dec 2011 after reading the review, not quite as good as describe. There are better sushi places in the area.

This place is the best for Sushi! This is my wife and I's "go to" place for Sushi! Consistently fresh and always good food. The help is very knowledgeable and very friendly. The restaurant is relatively small but always busy. Although, the wait is never more than 15 minutes. Prices are very very reasonable for the high quality selection you get. The "Empty Nester's" give it a 5 star!

Sushi, bento boxes are excellent choices. Friendly service, reasonable prices. Wow, that is all I can ask for. Try it yourself.

I'm not sure what all the hype is about for this restaurant. Maybe I just went on a bad day but with my experience it was definitely the worst sushi and service I've ever had. I am a big sushi lover and I know what high quality sushi tastes like and I did not experience that at this restaurant. My go to roll is the volcano roll, and I couldn't believe what I saw when they put down my plate. I wish I took a picture but to describe it looked like someone either took the ingredients, ground it up in a blender and threw it on a plate with chunks of rubber conch or looked like someone straight up chewed it all up and spit it out on my plate. I've never seen a volcano roll made that way and the fact that the pieces or conch or calamari, whatever it was, were rubber hard made it impossible to eat. My sister got a salmon skin roll which was supposed to be crispy but was soft and seemed like it was sitting out for hours. To top it off we had very slow service and when we explained to the waitress that we did not enjoy the food she simply said she was sorry. No manager came over to apologize or anything. I will never go back to this place again!

I've been going to Hana Sushi for over 7 years now, off and on. I have never had a bad experience there. The help staff is attentive, their sushi rolls are divine! If you want something addictive go for the Alaska Roll - it's basically a california roll with a mixture of mayo, shrimp, and roe atop it. Makes me want it even as I think of it. Other great treats are the volcano scallops! The bento boxes are very good though a bit pricier for dinner but the selection is good for someone who isn't simply wanting sushi. I truly recommend them and plan to head up towards Altamonte soon to enjoy it!

This is by far our favorite sushi spot in town. If you're looking for a casual place to sit down and have some amazing sushi Hana Sushi is THE place. Some of my favorite rolls: (All of their rolls are excellent) Renaissance, Mexican, and Naruto. The service is good, not amazing but it's more of a family style run restaurant. The decor is lacking and they have this weird towel hung over the entrance to the bathroom which I've always thought was odd. Their prices are great, you feel like you should be paying more for this quality.

  • Milissa P.

This is my favorite place to go for casual and decent priced, and really good sushi. The restaurant is small and quaint, not overly elaborate with decor. The wait staff is not too bad either. My husband and I love to get the sashimi dinner because it is around $20 and feeds both of us. I have had the big boat (don't remember the actual name) before and it fed 4 people and I remember that being excellent. The best part is that they don't skimp on the rolls. There is a plentiful portion of sushi wrapped around a proportional amount of rice; not too much if you know what I mean-- you don't feel like you are overloading on carbs.

Nice little place for sushi. I can't say that I was overly impressed with what I had (just two basic sushi rolls), but everyone else's plates looked AMAZING! I had to hold myself back from saying... "you going to eat that?" I'd go again, but maybe for lunch instead.

I had some friends recommend Hana for a place for some of us to meet for dinner one night. I was a bit skeptical at first, but I ended up being pleasantly surprised! I had a hard time deciding on rolls because so many of them sound do yummy! And the prices are amazing! I usually think that cheap sushi should be avoided, but the quality and freshness was great! They also have a nice menu with cooked items (terryaki, katsu, etc.) that looked delicious when they came out! Large portions, too! I tried two different sakes, as well, and both were very tasty! I will definitely be back to Hana! A++!

Great authentic Japanese food! This was our first visit and we are happy that we found a new place we love. I am not sure why it took so long. Anyway the whole family was happy with their food. The rice was excellent quality and that makes great sushi. Overall we ordered sushi, udon noodles, chicken/beef teriyaki and the Hana box. It was all very tasty. Save room for the tempura ice cream or tempura chocolate cake, delicious! We went a little early and had no problem getting a table. The service was friendly and fast. The prices were very reasonable. I would highly recommend it if you are looking for good Japanese food.

This place is AMAZING!!! And I don't even eat seafood :) First, their service was awesome :) I had a surprise party for my best friend there with 16 people and they had the table ready and didn't even bat an eye with taking a reservation for 16 people. This is why I love locally owned restaurants because they are so willing to accommodate the customer. I had the Chicken Tempura Sushi and Chicken Teriyaki. I wish I just would have stuck with the sushi. It was AWESOME!!! The chicken teriyaki was pretty good too I just liked the sushi a lot better. Don't skip the ginger salad it's small and a great start to the meal. I know some people complained about the service but I really think that is more of a cultural thing. They were good about taking all of our orders and the food came out pretty quickly. They brought separate checks for everyone and didn't grat us. They were super sweet and brought out free ice cream with a candle for my best friend. I can't wait to go back again for more chicken sushi :)

I've been to Hana Sushi on a few occasions. In the past I went for lunch, but I met friends for dinner and thoroughly enjoyed it. The restaurant is quaint, the service is friendly and efficient, but most importantly the food is delicious! If you aren't a sushi fan there are various entrees that are tasty, reasonably priced and make it hard to choose because there are so many options. I've had the boxed teriyaki chicken and salmon lunches and for a new taste I enjoyed the Chicken Katsu dinner. I was not disappointed and was unable to finish the very large meal. My husband and a girlfriend loved the Sakes too, both the cold and warm. I'll be back! A++

A bit of a sushi snob, I wasn't really expecting much from Hana Sushi, but I was in Altamonte Springs and just HAD to have sushi. The place is kind of a tiny little plaza restaurant and the atmosphere is alright, when you consider the blinding sun hitting you on the face, no matter where you're sitting. At any rate, I found the service to be decent. And the food was pretty good. I ordered the futomaki roll which is a large roll filled with carrots, avocado, and a slew of other vegetables. It was pretty tasty! Was it the best sushi I've ever had? No, but for the price, it was pretty delicious!

My family and I just recently relocated from Tokyo. Finding Japanese food to match what we are accustomed to is hard, but this place is not so bad. Its priced reasonably for lunch and clean. The spot looks like it can get packed, but overall my family and I will be coming back. Not sure that this place is for large groups. We are a family of 5 and it was tight for us.

My wife and I are travelling through Orlando and saw this place on Yelp with some good reviews. I can happily say that all the praise is well-deserved indeed! Wanting to try a little bit of everything we ordered the "Hana Box" which is supposed to be a single entree but is basically a Bento box on steroids and more than enough food to feed 2 people. For $22 we got: bowl of Miso soup - tasty stuff and not watered down 4 pieces of Nigiri sushi - fresh, flavorful, and well prepared an 8-piece California roll - well executed and again, fresh and flavorful. Only drawback is that it's a krab stick (they do have a "California Roll Deluxe" on the menu that features real crab for a few bucks more)' 3 pieces of Gyoza 6 pieces of fried spring rolls 3 large shrimp tempura, 2 sweet potato, 1 zucchini, and 1 eggplant Tempura About 4 oz of teriyaki chicken - clearly freshly grilled with that sweetly charred taste teriyaki should have a bowl of rice 5 slices of orange Everything was freshly made and service was fast. The tempura was some of the best executed I have ever had - in fact everything that was fried (gyoza, spring rolls, and tempura) was perfectly cooked - crisp on the outside, not overcooked inside, and not the least bit greasy. The only downside we had for the meal was that neither of us had room to try the tempura ice cream they had on the dessert menu. We actually had leftovers to take home, which was crazy considering we only ordered one entree and split it between us. This place is so unassuming from the outside, looking like just another strip mall restaurant. Don't be fooled - they're cooking the real deal inside.

Average at best, not sure what happened here but had a basic rainbow roll, volcano roll and some citrus cucumber roll. All was pretty blah and really salty. Might be a bad batch. I've eaten here before and had decent lunch, but this time disappointed a bit. Will give them another try at a later date.

Hana Sushi is located in a little bit nicer strip mall, but it's not to be missed. The menu features so many wonderful choices it's hard to pick. But frankly nothing I selected disappointed. The fish was fresh and presented with flair. The waitress was helpful in making suggestions and offering great service. Walking distance from the Embassy Suites go there eat sushi and get plastered.

An excellent place for a good balance of quality and quantity. I got the sushi & sashimi dinner, and let me tell you, I'm pretty sure this platter is enough for two people. I was full to the brim, and the quality of the rolls and pieces were very good. Not the best I've had, mind you, but very good. And for the price, quite a lot of it. In my opinion, I think I'd like to see this place either make the platters a bit smaller so that they're cheaper, or give me less and get better or more uncommon cuts. The downers: tea, though good, was made from teabags, and not free. I expect rice to come with anything sashimi, but rice did not come with the platter, though they were very quick to just give me some without charging me extra. And you get the option of miso soup or salad, but not both. If I might also be picky, I believe their rice is a bit too sweet. But that's really nit picking, only having frequented Japanese restaurants all over the country. The quality/quantity ratio is actually not surprising however, after I immediately recognized that this place was one of those Chinese-owned Japanese restaurants. Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with that, but I just find that Chinese-owned Japanese anything just misses that extra bit of quality that you find in genuine Japanese owned and native Japanese frequented restaurants, and trades it for quantity. If you ever visit Chicago, look up Kurumaya. That place has spoiled Japanese food for me everywhere I go now...a true 5 star Japanese establishment.

Great sushi, just off of I-4!! I went to lunch recently at Hana Sushi with some coworkers. We were seated promptly and had drinks within minutes. This is a small restaurant, so I would image that we were lucky to be seated right away during lunch. I enjoyed the Alaska and Florida rolls. Everything was fresh and flavorful. My water glass stayed full and the service was friendly and accurate. This is certainly on the top of my Altamonte area lunch list!!

Hana Sushi is a quaint little sushi place that has a very good variety and all is fresh and tasty. The tuna tartare for appetizer simply hits the spot. It's lightly seared and comes with a delicious butter sauce. The sauce is ironically both heavy and delicate at the same time. It's not overpowering. Maybe it's bernaise sauce? Not too sure. They have a great variety of sushi, except that they usually don't have my favorite: toro. If you're looking for good toro, hit up Shari on Central Blvd, which is probably the best toro in Orlando. Otherwise, this is a great place for locals of Altamonte and will always serve fresh fish in a friendly atmosphere. They're closed between lunch and dinner and also on Sundays.

I am from Los Angeles and was in the area and decided to go here because it was close to a store I went into. It was surpisingly impressive. First, the owner is Japanese. He is very nice and pleasant to speak with. Next, the fish in the case were not pre-cut and were wrapped in paper to keep the first fresh, which is waaaay cool. (Really good sushi restaurants do that). I ate the white albacore sushi, which was very tasty and the salmon sushi. The salmon fish was VERY good. I also ate a cut roll, which was okay. It is a quaint restaurant, which allows it not to get too rowdy. You could easily have a nice dinner in here with friends and have a pleasant experience. It was only my first time but I will go there again for sure. I have been to other japanese / sushi restaurants (but in the Lake Mary area) but Hana Sushi in the only place that will get my business again.

This is a great casual sushi restaurant. Food is fresh and menu is wide ranging. Service has gotten much better lately since the ladies who were fanatic about which tables were off limits have either left or mellowed out. Their spinach gomae is the best in town. Ginger salad is good, pretty much the same as everywhere else. Fish is fresh. Restaurant seems very clean, and you get the hot towels before meal, which is nice. Prices are fair - not overpriced liked some local sushi restaurants where the food isn't any better and sometimes seems less fresh. Love Hana Sushi. And now a froyo place is open next door.

So good! I've visited this restaurant twice for lunch, and both times were equally good! The ginger salad and miso soup were both pretty nice starters. For lunch, I ordered the maki combination roll which had an eel roll, Tonka Roll and Krab Special Roll. I know, technically these are all cooked, next time I'll go for the sashimi. The eel was spectacular, by the way; some places can't quite seem to cook eel properly, but this was just the right texture, on two separate occasions (yes, I got the same thing twice. It was that good). It's also a TON of food for only about $10.

I don't know if I could write anything on this restaurant that hasn't already been said. Hana Sushi is the best sushi I've had down here in Florida. My wife and I love sushi and we've had a less that great experience at all the places we've been down here but I think we've found a winner with Hana. We'll definitely be back, and probably soon. The restaurant is small, I think it said 46 occupants, but it's nicely decorated. Our server was very helpful and nice. I know we're going back.

I love sushi and this is my favorite place in town. I like simple rolls with lots of flavor and Hana always gets it right. Its reasonably priced and the staff is extremely friendly. This is not a glitzy or trendy sushi restaurant but perfect for a low key night out with family or friends. The Casey and Picerne rolls are excellent and the salmon is always super fresh.

Our office goes to eat here just about every week. The people there are extremely nice and attentive. The sushi is excellent. It's not too fancy, but if a place 10 times as fancy opened next door I'd still eat here. There's something to be said for customer service and quality food.

Went there today before noon hour for a business lunch with a client as I am a local business owner. When we got there, all the tables and booths were occupied except for one very small table in the middle of the room. We were offered the table and sat down. Before we got our menus, the two people sitting at the booth next to us finished and left. All the other booths were occupied by only 2 people. I asked if we could move over (there wasn't anyone waiting to be seated) and was told no. Our waitress came and gave us our menus and asked if we would like to move to the empty booth. We said yes, but the person who told me no shook her head. No one came in and sat at the booth and we sat at our extraordinarily small table. No one took our drink order either. We got up and left (the booth was still empty). REALLY poor manners and service. We have many choices in Altamonte Springs and we unfortunately chose Hana Sushi today, but I won't be back, I won't bring clients there and everyone in my office has heard about this. I can't believe a business in this day and age would risk a bad review over something so easy as letting a customer already in your restaurant but not yet served even a drink move to a wider table which will accommodate a business lunch. BTW - Five Guys was great!!!!

I really love this place for sushi in Altamonte. The space is small but always is packed for lunch and dinner. I LOVE and recommend the Fiji Roll!!! It's pieces of raw tuna, salmon, krab, and Escobar with avocado and radish wrapped in rice paper. The plate is decorated with Sriracha and Wasabi mayo. It's so freaking amazing!!! The special Boat for Two is a good amount of food and with an awesome variety of rolls. The 6 rolls it comes with are Alaskan, Philly, Mexican, Spicy Tuna, Casey, and Krab special. Mmmmm, it will fill you up! Get hot green tea with your food on a rainy or cool day. The special scallop sushi is delicious. It's scallop mixed with soft mayo and masago, on a little scoop of rice and wrapped in seaweed. The kids love the gyoza and the tempura chicken. My son can eat 3 plates of the gyoza appetizer. We frequent this place every other week, we love it so much.

Sushi we ordered (Crunchy Tuna roll, Spicy Tuna, Salmon Roll, Eel roll) were not bad. Nothing impressive per se. We like the Spicy Tuna roll best. Tempura ice cream was quite nice too. Deep-fried sugary goodness. :) Service was so so. Gal who seated us wasn't too enthusiastic. Didn't seem too excited to have customers. Lunch menu wasn't available (cos' it's Saturday) but there's a 15% discount on the bill.

This place is average at best. The staff was fine, not great but not bad. The decor was pretty awful, but I wasn't expecting anything spectacular, and the place was clean. The food and drinks are the main focus areas. The drink menu is lacking; it would be nice to have a couple martinis on there, but even just a better wine selection would make a difference.. I wanted a drink and would have ordered a bottle of wine, just not of those options. The food was decent. The Fuji roll was the best we had, and I highly recommend it (if I go back it's because of this roll!). It's all raw and wrapped in rice paper so it's very nice and fresh tasting. The Lava roll (more like your standard Volcano roll) was good. The Shrimp Cracker roll (odd name) was almost all fried rice because some of the bites didn't have other ingredients in it it seemed. The Dragon Fly roll was horrible.. both of us ate a piece at the same time and both immediately made the same grossed out face and said it tasted super fishy.. probably should have sent it back :-/ we didn't eat another bite of that. Really though.. If you like raw sushi and sashimi, the Fuji roll was great, and I recommend it.. we almost ordered another.

Great presentation and quality of food! Don't let the small space fool you! We stopped by for dinner with a friend and were promptly greeted and shown to our table. The space is fairly small, with maybe 8 tables. The sushi is prepared in the same room you're in and you can watch them make it. I was a bit nervous as the space look kinda run-down when we walked in, but I trusted my friend and the reviews. I'm glad I did! We ordered the beef negimaki and these little fried avocado tuna boats as appetizers. So delicious! I really enjoyed both. The presentations were really nice and I appreciated the negimaki chopped into smaller bite-sized pieces. I ordered the Banzai to drink, which was a perfectly sweet sake and plum wine mix over ice. Yum! For sushi I ordered a Rainbow roll and the Walking roll, which I hoped didn't grow any legs. Both were so fresh! Extra spicy mayo on the side and they had brown rice available for a dollar. I would definitely come back here. Really great sushi.

Terrible service. Saturday night was slow(maybe 4 other tables and 4 servers) but I couldn't get a glass of water for an un exaggerated 15 minutes after the server greeted us. She was in attentive for the entire meal. Being a slow night she was more interested in finishing up side work so she could go home. It was 8:45 when I walked in and They closed at 10. I told her ( she never greeted us just asked if we were ready so I don't know her name but she was the only non Asian girl working so watch out for her and ask for another server if you do go) She definitely made me feel as I wasn't welcome to be there, and I won't be going back. Not the same experience as the good reviews obviously, so at best it's a crap shoot with service.

If you want fresh fish in your sushi Do Not come here.. Sadly the server told us all the fish is previously frozen and you can definitely tell. Our server seemed annoyed the whole time and honestly I could make a better ginger salad myself from Publix. $75 on frozen sushi is just not right.

Located in Altamonte Springs, this Japanese restaurant is definitely yet another hidden treasure. I was ecstatic when my boyfriend suggested we meet up here for a quick lunch. He took the liberty of ordering for the both of us and did an awesome job. I started with the ginger salad- loved it. Then I tried the Hana Bombs. It's a tempura avocado wedge stuffed with spicy crab & spicy tuna- I've never had anything like it before. As my friend Lisa says- AMAZEBALLS haha Maki D combo was a perfect mix of 3 rolls- 6 pieces each. Now that I been here- I can't wait to return for their specialty rolls.

This is as good as it gets in the city of Orlando for authentic Japanese. The shrimp tempura was delicious even though I the crust is was a bit thick. The sushi pieces were very long and fresh.

  • Ryan F.

Decent sushi - some strange flavor combinations - I also think we ordered sushi with competing flavors which was weird. The service was meh - we had to ask to get a server and then she left partway through, didn't say anything, she just wasn't there any more and some other lady took over. Weird. Price is right - we ordered three rolls, a Hama bomb, a glass of wine each, edamame, and small ginger salads and it was $25 each. Other sushi places we'd be paying closer to $35. The Hana Bomb was strange - it looked so good in the pictures but there was some unexplainable meat in the appetizer and I couldn't figure out what it was so I had to pull that part off the item which didn't leave much to eat. Considering tuna and krab are the only meats mentioned on the menu as part of the bomb, that was weird too (ours also looked very different than the other Yelp photos of the same item).

Yum!!! This place looks a bit lackluster from the outside, but my husband assured me that it was safe. I'm glad I trusted him. Hana Sushi is one of the best-kept sushi secrets in Altamonte. We went at lunch and took advantage of their bento box deal. With an avocado roll as an appetizer, my husband and I--neither of us small people and both of us healthy eaters--were very, very satisfied at the end of our meal. I tried the chicken katsu, while my husband got the chicken teriyaki. Both were great. The gyoza were not the best I've ever had, but the harumaki were so good I could easily forgive them. One of the highlights of the meal was the ginger dressing on the salad. I could see and taste the fresh ginger. Very refreshing!

Very good sushi. Even the chef is not Japanese. But very closed to Japanese style. 4 star

Friday night, I popped over to Hana Sushi at the recommendation of a friend. I was with a group of 8, so I had called the day before to make a reservation. I was glad I did because this place was tiny and during the time we were there, every table was constantly filled. It's in a strip plaza behind a Chili's on 436 in the Altamonte Mall area, and I never really knew it existed. Anyway, so we get there. Place is packed, but they have our table ready. It really isn't anything special in terms of decor. In fact, the decor isn't memorable at all. There was a TV playing a football game, but beyond that, the place was very "blah." For dinner, I got yellow tail nigiri and chicken terriyaki, which was served with a salad. Their ginger dressing was delicious, but it was pretty much the best part of the meal. The flavor of the chicken terriyaki was good, and the presentation was quite nice, but the chicken itself was overcooked. Portion sizes were good for non-sushi items. A few people in the group got sushi, and they were all pretty pleased. Overall, the place was overwhelmingly "OK." Prices were good. For my boyfriend and I, we paid just under $50 including a tip. We ordered 2 entrees, a little bit of sushi, and 3 beers, so I think it was pretty decent. I've been better places, but I've also been to worse places.

Great sushi! They have unique rolls to try and every time I order I find something new to try. They even do a great job with packaging your to go orders so that you can enjoy at home.

Really disappointed and it felt dirty in the restaurant. Much better options out there for the price and service.

I'd love to be posting a great review about the food but this is the only restaurant I've gotten up and left from. The restaurant had 8 people in and after my girlfriend and I arrived it took a bit to get seated in a half empty restaurant. After being seated it took 5 minutes for a waitress to even say hi. This was as we were getting up to leave. The waitresses response to why would it take over 5 minutes to even get a water was, "I don't know it's not my table." That was my first and last experience here. There are plenty of sushi places nearby that actually respect their customers.

I tried this place based on the walk-ability from my apartment and I was not disappointed! I ordered a lava roll, spicy tuna roll and the hana bomb. The rolls were delicious, but the highlight of my meal was the hana bomb...I have never had anything like it before and to be honest I am not even entirely sure what was in it other than avocado, but it was amazing! I took my food to go so my experience with thee service is very limited, they were very friendly. My favorite part of the whole experience was that I could sit and watch them make my rolls! Overall great place, excellent food...I will definitely go back!

Food as good as always... Always like it here but man did the service stink tonight... Had to beg for refills and from the time I put my card down with the bill it took 13 minutes to pay. Not good.

This is definitely a hidden gem tucked in a strip mall. Small and quaint and the luch specials can't be beat. If you are a sushimi fan, you will love what you get for the price!

unfortunately most people dont or cant appreciate real sushi. i know. i was a server at many sushi restaurants back in my college years. the number of shrimp tempura and cream cheese rolls drenched in eel sauce is sad and ridiculous- if youre THAT kinda sushi lover... please feel free to leave reviews for all the publix sushi you want- but dont do that here. the first thing i noticed when i walked into Hana, was how all the employees are actually japanese. GOOD SIGN. would you want to eat at a mexican restaurant run by germans? or a korean restaurant run by irish? i cant tell you how many sushi restaurants in Orlando are owned by chinese people.... hint: its a ton. Hana may be one of the few places here that are actually run by japanese folk. the next thing i noticed was the MISO SOUP. this miso is the real deal. most miso soups are instant- and made from powder... the miso broth here is made by real anchovy/fish broth + konbu.. it really makes a difference. ive never had one bad experience here w the quality of the fish.. its always been fresh. when i eat sushi, i truly prefer either nigiri or simple rolls- so if youre looking for a review on one of their americanized rolls.... i simply have no comment to offer. i eat at Hana an avg of once per week and can assure you that if youre looking for AUTHENTIC, fresh sushi at an incredibly reasonable price point- youd love this place as much as i do.

This is one of our favorite Japanese places in the area. They have really good sushi and the best ginger salad. I also really like their yaki udon with beef. This time we tried the hana bomb (tuna and avocado with a tempura coating) as an appetizer and were not disappointed. It was so unique and delicious! We've been here several times and have enjoyed everything we order. They also have excellent and a speedy service, always a plus.

This is my fifth time at Hana and I am not disappointed as usual. I love the decor and the polite servers. If you time it right you can be seated when you walk in the door. We ordered the Hana Bomb for an app which was four slices of stuffed fried avocado, yum! and then salads with ginger dressing. I already know their miso soup is great but I can't eat it any more. We ordered our sushi within a few minutes after being seated and by the time we finished our salads we had been served the main meal. I also liked that the server was asking us if we wanted more water often! I love this because it shows the quality of the server. I am really happy that they offer gluten free organic soy sauce too! A lot of places don't have gluten free so I need to start bringing my own soy sauce but tonight I lucked out. We looked over the fried deserts but they weren't what we wanted so we decided to pass but over all every thing was perfect and filling. I highly recommend Hana as they have a variety of choices and good service.

Certainly, this place is much better than the Chili's it's next to, but it's not my favorite sushi restaurant around. The atmosphere is decorated nice with an open flow, though the music was a tad odd. The staff were all friendly and attentive. The food itself was decently priced and we got plenty of it for the combos we ordered, but (and maybe it was what we ordered) it all seemed a bit lackluster. The miso soup was super salty and the sushi was basic. It all tasted fresh, though, and I was pleased I at least got to visit.

Best sushi in Altamonte Springs and very affordable. There are better sushi places in Orlando, but this place is so close and it doesn't cost me a million dollars for dinner. The fish is fresh and I never worry about if I am going to be pleased or not. Definitely give it a try. Casual atmosphere and great staff.

First bad thing.. poor quality green tea. The quality and taste of the green tea served seems to always provide me a hint on whether I'll get good Japanese food or not. I should have just walked away from this restaurant, but I wanted to give Hana Sushi a chance. Second bad thing... there was fish bones in my bowl of miso soup. I almost swallowed.T Fortunately I am pretty much an experts at eating whole fish with bones. This is the first time in over 50 years of eating Japanese food that I was served fish bones in the miso soup. The fish bones was about 1/2-inch square; probably the fin or tail section of the fish. When I told the one of the two waitresses at Hana Sushi about the fish bones, she told me that it is common for them to have fish bones in their miso soup because the kitchen are not able to fish out all the bones (fishing for the fish bones.. Ha! Ha!). I didn't want other customer to have a bad experience of swallowinng fish bones. I have accidentally swallowed fish bones when I was seven years old and that was fainfull. So, I informed the second waitress, who was an elderly Asian lady, and she told me the same thing. Third bad thing... I ordered their tempura soft shell crab. Their batter was terrible and was not your typical light tempura batter. Their batter was thicker and heavier, and they over fried the soft shell crab that the crab meat was dry. It was actually almost burnt. Fourth bad thing .... I ordered their regular sashimi plate and the presentation was one of the worst one I have seen. I would not go back and would not recommend this restaurant. Japanese restaurants are always expensive, and this one is not worth the money. by....the Traveling CajunManila

While I have never been here for dinner, we have spent many a lunch at Sushi Hana. The service is always consistent, prices reasonable, and the food is good. I generally prefer to order one of the bento boxes, generally the chicken teriyaki which comes with a California roll, soup (too salty) or salad, teriyaki chicken, white rice (brown for $1), some type of fried roll, and some orange slices for $8.95. Occasionally I will order one of the sushi lunch combos which provides three delicious rolls between $8-$12 depending on what is ordered. Parking in the first row can become some what chaotic during the lunch hour and I would recommend just parking in the second row to avoid the cluster mess of people that want to be within 10 feet of the storefront. As mentioned above, skip the salty soup and order the ginger salad as they come with each lunch special. It is also better to get in here just before 12 as it can become quite crowded around the 12:30-1:00 hour.

Seriously - very, nom nom!! I usually order to take out, so can't speak for their service but the sushi is super fresh and delish. They have good lunch specials and awesome tuna Kobachi app. If you like spicy tuna type rolls, then you most definitely will love their Dynamite hamachi roll( tuna, yellow tail, masago and spicy mayo). Their miso soup is subpar but their ginger salad is quiet good. Give a try!

Fastest sushi service with decent sushi choices. Hana bomb was a good choice. Sushi rolls 6-8 pieces per roll, if you're hungry and a party of two, order at least 3 rolls with appetizers.

Chances are, you have dismissed Hana Sushi due to its location. Chances are, those who have enjoyed their wonderful food have left the restaurant smelling like a fish market. Chances are, you didn't care and returned not too long after or have been waiting to return ever since. When I first tried Hana Sushi, I was living in Altamonte Springs and was overjoyed to realize that the best place I've had sushi at in the greater Orlando area was the one closest to me. How convenient! Lately, I'm not as sure anymore that it's the best place to have sushi, but it's definitely still one of the better ones, and I would still gladly recommend it to those who ask. They also serve other typical Japanese food, and they're also just as good. What they lack, however, is good, prompt, and consistent service. I don't mind waiting for my food, especially when it's good, but there isn't really any excuse to being slow in taking drink orders, or food orders, etc. Still, I have been returning semi-regularly, and have introduced friends to it as well.

my husband and i love this place! We come often. I love the Chickenkatsu and veggie sushi. I am not a "fish-sushi" person. i have yet to have a bad meal and same with my hubby. The service is alway great and they are most helpful. Would highly recommend for a casual night out.

Hana sushi is an awesome place!!! We go there usually once a week. Sushi is always very fresh and delicious! My newest favorite is Hokkai roll, which is salmon, cream cheese and scallions wrapped in Cucumber!!! It is so refreshing and incredibly tasty!!! They did some remodels recently. Environment is very pleasant and the background music is just perfect!! Food is consistently good and prices are very good, which is a plus for sure! I highly recommend this place! :)

The sushi, sashimi, rolls and sake were wonderful! My colleague and I ordered the Bahamas cruise. The knowledgable server recommended a sake which was perfect. Fish was fresh, rolls were well executed. The atmosphere isn't ideal but they do very well with the space they have. I would highly recommend.

Been coming here for 9 years, ginger salad is amazing. Bento boxes are great if you're not in the mood for sushi - the chicken teriyaki is fantastic and the breading on the shrimp tempura is some of the best I've ever had. The sushi is excellent, I usually get the chef's pick but their specialty rolls are good as well. I've never had a bad experience, service is great as well. Lunch is incredibly reasonably priced.

I truly enjoyed dining here. I can't wait to go again. The staff was super nice and very helpful. We made conversation and it almost felt like she genuinely cared how our day was haha. I don't think I've ever seen such amazing deals for fresh sushi. The bf and I ordered their Avocado & krab Salad for lunch, which was $8.95. It's such a large plate! I barely put a dent in it because I needed to save room for my actual entree lol. It was so good! Very refreshing to eat and it had typical ginger salad dressing. Their lunch boxes have great prices too. If I had properly estimated how much food was going to come in that box, I wouldn't have ordered that huge salad before. They give so much! All for $7.95-$12.95. It comes with your choice of meat, California Roll, gyoza (dumpling), harumaki, steamed rice AND you get to pick soup or salad. So you can bet I ordered the soup lol. Bf ordered the Altamonte Roll. Such flavor! Shrimp Tempura, Salmon, CC, and avocado. Great combo. They also do delivery! Not many sushi places do delivery but they do here! I'm definitely ordering for delivery one of these days instead of having to eat leftovers for lunch at work. ;D

Wish I could do NO STARS! The service was fine but the lack of choices was astounding. They were out of all white wines. This could be excused if it were a busy night but this was a WEDNESDAY!! They did not offer clear soup, only Miso. NO WONTONS aka CRAB RANGOONS! ! I GOT CHARGED FOR SPICY MAYO THAT WASNT EVEN EATEN and I wasn't told that it cost anything!! Lastly........NO SHRIMP SAUCE?!! Seriously? Not good at all for the price you pay!! How this place received these reviews is beyond my comprehension I guess.

Hana Sushi is a hidden gem located in the Renaissance Center just minutes from the Altamonte Mall. Its a casual restaurant that serves quick and quality sushi. Everything from sashimi and sushi were simply presented but remarkable in taste. Our server was very friendly and attentive. Overall, I had a pretty pleasant experience here. I cant think of anything to complain about.

The staff is beyond rude, every time we have gone there it has been an unpleasant experience. We ordered take out once and when we went to pick up we asked for sauce in which she explained was already in the bag and when we looked, of course there wasn't any so informed her we needed sauce since there wasn't any in the bag and then she rudely says we will have to pay extra for the sauce then. We recently went in for dine in at 1:40pm and they turned us away because they close at 2pm! Do not waste your money here. Terrible business.

despite the rave reviews, i thought hana sushi was okay but not excellent. my coworker and i ordered delivery for lunch, and we did experience some mishaps with the delivery service and some items being out of stock. we initially ordered the sushi b combination (1 tuna roll, 1 california roll, and assorted sashimi) with miso soup and salad, the chirashi with miso soup, and an order of uni nigiri. a few minutes later, i got a call that told me they no longer had the uni. i appreciated that they followed up, but then the restaurant never sent me a new receipt reflecting the reduction in charges. the delivery driver seemed to have some trouble with actually going to the correct address, and it turned out he went to the wrong location. about 15 minutes later he arrived. upon opening the food we realized that there was no soy sauce so we called him back to see if he had any. he then called us back, thinking that we were his wife, and told her all about how some girl was asking for soy sauce. this was awkward. once we finally had all of the food (and soy sauce) the food itself was alright. i thought the dressing for the salad had excellent ginger flavor, but i was glad that i got it on the side since it was rather heavy and a large quantity for the size of the salad (which was only $2, so i expected it to be small). the miso soup was okay, rather salty with only a little bit of greens and tofu. the sashimi fish was very fresh, and i enjoyed that the most. the 2 rolls were pretty standard, although the california was made with imitation crab rather than fresh. i was also rather astonished with in general how much white rice came with each of our dishes. overall, the sushi was pretty good but not particularly standout. we paid about $40 for the lunch, which seemed like a lot but it did end up being more than enough food.

This place is not fresh! I ordered a roll that had tempura flakes on it and they used old pre made stale ones and admitted that is what they do it here! Gross!!! It ruined the whole roll because it was chewy amd stale. Also..they are expensive during lunch and have no lunch specials.

After reading rave reviews I was excited to try this place. Sadly, I won't be going back. After we were seated it took nearly ten minutes for a server to simply come over and get our drinks order. There were four different servers, all of whom kept glancing at us. I understand if there is a table not in your section that needs assistance, but really? Another couple that was seated after us had drinks and their order put in before we were even greeted at our table. When someone finally came over and we told her how long we had been waiting, she laughed and said "really? Wow!" No apology. Anyway, we ordered an appetizer and five rolls. The appetizer came out after about 20 minutes, immediately followed by our rolls. They were okay, but I've had better. Not worth the prices. I've worked in the food service industry so I know how it is. But this place was terribly disorganized. There were so many people working;I don't get how we had to wait so long for service and our appetizer. Compared to other reviews, maybe we came at a bad time, but it was bad enough that I don't want to give them a second chance. I'd rather go to Bikkuri sushi or Hokkaido.

Quiet little place in a shopping plaza by the Altamonte Mall. Between Chili's and a frozen yogurt place. I love coming here, I've never had a bad experience. The food is very good and the service even better. Sometimes we'll get a table but often times prefer to sit at the bar and watch all the sushi being made. The cooks will engage us and answer questions. They are all very focused in their task. I've sampled pretty much their entire menu and while some things I did not like, they were still prepared with high quality. A definite must when you come is to get the "Hana Bomb" appetizer, I cannot come to eat here without getting that, I wish I could eat it every day! They offer delivery from Doorstepdelivery.com but since it's so close it's faster for me to order and pick up if I'm not eating there which I've done maybe half a dozen times over the years. Highly recommend this restaurant you will not be disappointed!

I'll tell you, this place doesn't look like much from the outside. Based on the reviews, I was expecting a 4-star review from me before I sat down, because I tend to be tough on sushi places. So I was their first customer of the evening (they close after lunch and reopen at 5). I have been on quite the chirashi kick lately, but then I saw that they also have a Spicy Tuna Bowl on the menu! (See this review for why that's important: yelp.com/biz/sushi-tomi-… ) In the end, the Spicy Tuna Bowl won out when I promised myself that if it was good, I would come back for the chirashi. The entrée comes with a soup or salad. I selected the salad with ginger dressing, which was quite good. Maybe slightly heavy on the dressing, but the taste was clean and it was easy to just leave some dressing on the bottom of the bowl. Then the Spicy Tuna Bowl arrived. Odd, it was actually a plate, with a pile of cubes of tuna, a side of sushi rice, and some daikon [See Photo]. There were more differences. In most Spicy Tuna Bowls, the spicy tuna is basically just raw tuna tossed in sriracha, sometimes with sesame seeds sprinkled on top. I don't know what they did with this spicy tuna, but while it was less spicy than most, it was also more complex and more delicious. Then the tuna is coated in masago. The result is truly unique in the world of Spicy Tuna Bowls. And unique in a very, very good way. Kudos to the chefs for a fantastic dish. Friendly, responsive service rounded out the package for a perfect meal. I did not expect to be giving out 5 stars today, but they have earned it here. I hope my next visit is as amazing as this one.

  • Lauren L.

Let me tell you, their ginger dressing is the best in Orlando! It's not too sour and it has a great taste. I also love their Mexican rolls because there is no spicy powder (sometimes that powder tastes like old vomit). Their prices aren't bad and their avocados are always ripe. Never hard or too mushy. I am so happy I found Hana. I just wish they were open on Sundays.

  • Jennifer L.

After four years in Orlando and continuing to try other sushi places in town in between visits to Hana, we still can't find a place we like better. The price is right, the rolls are flavorful and well balanced (read not overly fancy or huge), and it is consistent. This is the best bang for your buck in town if you want fresh, delicious sushi without breaking the bank completely. Try the key west roll, picerne roll, and the sweet potato roll. Actually, no, please don't go there so that we can still get a table when we go.

Hana Bomb! One star bump for this amazingly ridiculous invention: avocado, spicy tuna, roe, battered, deep fried, served warm with sauce. Uh, yum! Their *bomb* is the high point, with everything else falling into the good average range. The yellowtail with scallion (my personal favorite) has been good or ok, thankfully never scary bad. Tuna is average. Salmon has been their solid good fish in all my visits. The California roll has way too much mayo - should just hold it together not be gloppy. Their wasabi tobiko is insanely over flavored. The Nigiri was very poorly proportioned, at least twice as much fish as should be on the rice, was disappointing. Hana is a good sushi spot for a quick fix. And the Hana Bomb, did I mention that?

  • Lisa M.

I'm always looking for new sushi places and a fellow aficionado had a birthday request for Hana, so I obliged. My 3-star rating would have been a 4, but the service was quite choppy that evening. My friend assured me that it was normally great, so I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt. It's a nice, cozy little place with enough space to accommodate a larger party, which was part of the problem. There was a large table of 12 or so people that had apparently ordered just as we went in, because the kitchen was apparently overwhelmed with their order. Our waiter was very nice, but also very nervous, and he explained he was in training. Normally a waiter in training is accompanied with a seasoned waiter, but this was not the case. He was a bit slow in taking our order, and then the slowness became worse. We waited for at least 15 minutes before any food was brought out - and what we got were the two entrees we ordered. They were supposed to come with salads, and we had also ordered an edamame appetizer. When we asked about them, apparently he had forgotten (although I saw him write it down). We politely waited for our third guest's sushi to come out so we wouldn't be eating without her. Finally, sushi appeared, and again we reminded our waiter of the missing items and requested eel sauce and spicy mayo. Several minutes later, missing items appeared, sauce again requested. Finally got the eel sauce, but had to remind on spicy mayo a third time, which he replied they were making it. I'm sorry, spicy mayo is sriracha and mayo, it's not that difficult to make, and when we finally did get it, he commented they didn't make a lot so we would have to share the small cup (which was 80% mayo and 20% sriracha - not spicy at all). But all the poor service and timing aside, the food was very good. I had a sashimi sampler that was over generous. $8.95 for 8 slices, but they actually gave me 10 and 4 of those were excellent salmon (my favorite) - the escolar and tuna were also very fresh and delicious. I don't really care for avocado, but the Hana Bomb came highly recommended and with good reason - I happily ate it and enjoyed every bite. Fresh, well cooked. The nigiri is also overly generous with the fish overlapping the rice by a good inch. I also had an order of Udon soup which was well prepared, although just a bit bland. Just carrots, one sliced shiitake cap, and some scallions with the noodles, could have used more veggies and had no option for meat. Overall, great for sushi, nothing special for cooked items that made me go 'wow' and abnormally poor service. The prices are reasonable for the sushi, but a bit high on the cooked items/dinners. Still, I'd go back if I were in the area, if only for the sashimi and Hana Bomb (curses, they're making me into an avocado fan!)

One of the sushi gems of Central Florida. Their Walker Roll is on par with Sushi Lola's Magic Roll as one of my favorite rolls. Not a very big restaurant, which is important to know as it can fill up on a Friday or Saturday night with people who are tired of waiting 45 minutes to eat the sodium overload at the Chili's next door. The service is always great. If you choose to sit at the sushi bar, the sushi chef is quite personable when it isn't as busy. Only downsides are that they are closed on Sundays and some of their rolls can be a little pricey.

Ok so we're in town visiting friends, Sorrento FL to be exact, and we find this place, a good 40 minutes away. The only thing I could complain about is that I didn't sacrifice more time driving here. Worth every second spent on the road. Sushi was spectacularly fresh. The waitress, Jenna, was splendidly nice and enthusiastic. I'm sad that I am leaving in a few days and can't eat here again. If it's close enough to you, please listen to me and try it!!!!

Was in mood for some good Japanese food and I was not disappointed. I must preface I am Japanese-American so I can spot a fake joint a mile away! We had salmon Teriyaki, tonkatsu, octopus sushi and futomaki. It was delish but hot (I mean burn your hands hot) so be careful! Sushi was on point and portions were huge, especially for japanese joint! We ordered appetizers but good thing they forgot cuz we definitely didn't need them. So next time we will go back to try tuna tataki and gyoza! I could go for some sushi/sashimi combo too! My only complaint was miso soup was a bit salty and came out first instead of with food... This a big no-no in Japan... But it could've been cuz I was tired too lol I wish we found this place sooner! Reminds me of my mama's home-cookin'!

I dig sushi. I also get really annoyed when I tell someone that and they say, you like raw fish? HECK NO! But what makes sushi, sushi is the vinegar rice. Get it right!! I have been to this sushi join a handful of times and they do have some great sushi. However, this visit I was craving teriyaki chicken. The presentation alone was very lovely. I had the ginger salad to start and that was a small portion but just right, very refreshing. The chicken was a large breast served on a sizzle plate covered in teriyaki. There was a side of rice and vegetables as well. It came out sizzling hot and fresh. I was not used to receiving this type of presentation but it was top notch! I had to be careful because it was very hot, I actually almost burned my tongue on a piece of chicken but then I let it cool off. I finished almost the entire thing even though the portion was a bit large, it was so yummo! The service was awesome as well. We always had drinks and we were even given coupons for our next visit...10% and 15%, Score! Now that is how you get repeat customers...give them a good experience and send them home with coupons. Done and Done! Another great element about this place is that they have 3 flat screens and they had ESPN on, WIN! A lady baller like myself digs this! It is a quaint little joint with about 15 seatings and a sushi bar to sit at as well. I will have to re-visit to see how the lunch crowd is, i remember it would get busy but they were quick! I will refresh and let ya know!!!!

The Godzilla roll is so good! Nice little sushi place in a strip mall. The food is consistently good. Also good bento box lunch specials during the week.

I'm writing this review more to remind myself never to go there again. We went because of the good reviews, but half way through the meal I started writing this review it was that bad. The food was ridiculously over priced for the generic sushi we ordered. I had to pretty much beg for more water. Some dude came in asking for a booth and the lady refused to give him one (the place was dead and I counted 5 booths open). It was just an overall bad experience I wanted to help other people avoid.

My husband and I have tried sushi restaurants all over town, and we still compare each one to Hana. They have the best prices and rolls aren't super small and overpriced like the other places. The staff is always so friendly and it's a small, warm and charming little place that we love for date nights or Tuesday cravings. We love Hana!

Great place to go for dinner if you want good sushi and don't like crowded restaurants. The scenery is nothing special. Don't go there to impress someone with a fancy sushi joint. The staff is perfectly attentive, possibly because there are so few customers. HA! those fish tank comments are spot on! The moment I saw it I knew I was in right place :P

Yum!! This place serves excellent and fresh sushi!! The decor is a little plain but the food makes up for it. We finally tried it after years of going to Bayridge Sushi down the street in Longwood, which was one of our favorites until now. The owner is actually Japanese as opposed to most of the sushi bars in the area being owned by Chinese or some other Asian ethnicity. Nothing against the other nationalities but a Japanese restaurant owned by a Japanese person has got to account for something. The proof is in the pudding and you will not be disappointed in the quality of the food. Prices per roll were very reasonable. The rolls were creative and tasty. When we were reviewing the menu, we commented between us on not having many roll choices with white tuna (escolar), which we love. The waitress was walking by at that time and informed us that she could custom order any of the rolls we wanted with the type of fish we wanted in it. Loved that extra touch! We also had a few orders of Nigiri sushi (we tried the smoked salmon, fresh salmon and the white tuna) and they were all so very fresh. Topped it all off with dessert... tempura cheesecake.. The waitress said the cheesecake was from the Cheesecake Factory. Yummy!! Can't wait to go back!!

This place never disappoints! I've visited this restaurant a few times since my mom lives in the area and I always leave feeling satisfied and my credit card is not hurting too bad. Their sushi is always fresh and just plain yummy! Also you can't beat their lunch special. Last time I went I ordered one of the lunch options which came with 3 rolls and a ginger salad for only $10.95!! Each roll came with 8 pieces which was more than enough for me. The service is great. They have a great attentive staff and our server was more than happy to answer any questions we had about the menu. There is ample parking since it's located in a strip mall kind of area. This is probably one of my favorite sushi restaurants in Orlando, it's definitely worth the drive if you don't live in the area!.

We just love this little place. The Hana bomb and the sweet potato roll are our favorites! Plus they have a great selection of non seafood rolls for my non seafood eating but sushi loving husband.

This place is 2nd to none. My wife and I try to go at least once a month, I used to go once a week when I worked down the street from the location. Try the Hana Bomb, it is amazing.

Wow. Highly recommend the Hana bomb! If your looking for something different in a roll you must try this roll. You'll need to like avocado and tuna for this one. French kiss is wrapped w crape and has a nice hot sauce on the plate u can dip into... awesome! Crunchy tuna roll was different.... recommended. Unlike most places, this one will make all of your rolls with brown rice which is a nice bonus. What was more amazing- this place was full yet our sushi came out in record time! Very impressed.

This is a sushi restaurant that I would choose if I didn't have enough time to go to a real sushi place. Yes, it has cheaply priced and creative sushi rolls, but they don't have a large amount of fish and the quality is just a step above sushi from a supermarket. I enjoy coming here just to have a simple sushi dinner, but I wouldn't recommend Hana for a date night or special occasion.

Hana sushi is by far one of the better sushi places we've been to in Florida so far. Their service is great and their sushi is the bomb....and I must say, they have the best fried ice cream ever!!!!

Good prices for a casual sushi night. It's a small place so it could fill up fast on the weekends. Generally clean and steady flow of traffic - which is good for a sushi restaurant. Don't want the fish to sit there too long!

Hana Sushi is a gem of a place, I went in looking to have sushi with a friend and the place was very clean, looked nice... nothing too special looking inside - just like a nice sushi place should look... The service was great, our waitress took our order and was prompt with everything... We started off with an order of Edamame for appetizer. The edamame came, and was cooked to perfection and instead of being salted on top; they salted and covered each piece with it... they were cooked just right, and tasted awesome. Then we had one of the sushi / sashimi combo meals, and the sushi presentation was good and everything looked and tasted fresh. They also had one of my favorite items, Uni (sea urchin) and the uni was super fresh, ice cold; and yummy... I will definitely go back again.

I've seen good review after good review come in for Hana Sushi. My husband had been before and said it was just OK but I told him I wanted to see for myself. I have to admit, he was right. It is a small, plain dining room with one of the saddest saltwater aquariums I've ever seen. There is one rock and two fish. There isn't even enough sand to cover the bottom of the tank! The restaurant is eerily quite too, even with music playing, almost like a library. You feel like you need to whisper and if you get up to use the bathroom, every watches you go. Weird... The prices were reasonable, between $5-$10 per roll, but the rolls were just ok. I really like the fact that they have a kids menu and even have a special kiddie plate and learning chopsticks. Some of our favorite rolls out of the ones we tried were C&S and Godzilla Roll. Service was just ok too. At first there was one woman working the entire room so things were slow. Soon another girl arrived and service improved. I overhead a server respond to a request by another table with, "Can't you just share?" Remember, library like quiet... I don't know how but two adults and 1 child still ended up costing $80. Hana was indeed just ok, and nothing I'll probably be going back for.

Once upon a time, Hana Sushi was our regular go-to sushi restaurant. We were in there at least once a week, and we had our Polaroid on the corkboard right next to the entrance. Then, we moved to the other side of town, and Hana became too far of a drive to make it up there on a whim. Until this weekend, it had probably been 4, maybe 5 years since we last visited. We were hopeful, but worried that things may have drastically changed since we moved. Upon entering, it was like coming back home after moving away. It was the same old Hana - just slightly upgraded. The tables and decorations had all been replaced with slightly nicer ones. We stopped in for lunch hoping to take advantage of their outstanding lunch specials. Unfortunately, it seems they don't do the regular lunch menu on Saturdays. No big deal, the food and prices are more than fair anyways. We started off with some ginger salads which are still our favorites in Orlando. As we ate our salads, the restaurant began filling up - almost to capacity - amazing for 1pm on a Saturday afternoon. The waitress came by a few times to apologize for the delay in our food. It really wasn't very long, but we appreciated her concern for us. The sushi came out quick enough, and it was just as good as we remembered it. Everything was fresh and the rolls were large and put together well. The service for the rest of our meal was excellent as well. Despite being busy, our waitress was attentive and courteous. As an added surprise/bonus, it turns out that while they don't serve the normal lunch menu on Saturdays, they do have an automatic 15% discount off your total bill. Outstanding! I wish I had had more of an appetite to get some cooked food as well - they used to have outstanding tempura dinners, but I'll just have to make it a point to get back up there.

So overrated by everyone on here. I was craving sushi and went on yelp to see who was the best. This place was so popular and it's 5 mins away, so neededless to say I was so excited. I call in the place my order and it was fine. Not great customer service but it's over the phone on a Saturday night, so I figured she was busy. When I go in to pick up my order I waited for literally over 10 mins. Every server walked by m boyfriend and me at least three time. During all of those times no one bothered to help us. I ended up calling in and asked someone to help me at the front. They were slow and didn't even apologize for ignoring us. When we finally got home the sushi was decent. Not bad but not worth eating it again. Maybe if you dine in you will have a better experience but overall this place is highly overrated unless they just have crappy sushi options in Orlando.

Hana has THE BEST SUSHI EVER. With no exaggeration. Since moving out of Orlando I haven't been able to find good sushi anywhere. I miss Hana so much.

Love this place. I tend to grab lunch here for take out, as my office is nearby. If you have time, dine in. Super nice staff who remember you the next time your visit. I received a 10% off card for coming in regularly, which was a very nice surprise. Lunch specials are great, bento boxes offer plenty for those looking for a "hot lunch", nice miso soup and sushi rolls are delish. Tons of variety, quality ingredients. There are always some cool specials listed as you walk in, never have tried one. That will have to change. It's not a huge restaurant, but there is ample seating. If you are worried about a wait, then get there a bit early. Lunch seems to have a good crowd and the service is great. I can get in and out of there in 45 minutes without feeling rushed.

Hana Sushi is a small sushi bar and Japanese restaurant located in a shopping plaza near the Altamonte Mall. It's thus in a great location for a lot of people, and a far better choice than the mundane chains you normally find around large shopping malls. I ate there tonight (19 June 2010) and was impressed with the restaurant overall, but two aspects really stood out: for one, the staff is very friendly and welcoming in a very sincere way, and two, the sushi is remarkable in its taste, texture, and freshness. All three rolls I ordered were very tasty and the quality of the salmon and tuna was superb. I was dining alone and in something of a hurry, yet sitting at the sushi bar for an early dinner worked fine and the waitstaff was very attentive despite my modest meal. A note about their menu: Hana offers a number of non-conventional rolls you won't find at most other sushi bars. Even some standard American rolls, such as the Mexican roll, are given a twist here. It pays to read the whole menu with care and see the variety of sushi on offer so you can try some novel rolls you may not encounter elsewhere. There are a number of good sushi bars in the Orlando area, but Hana is a real jewel because it's a small operation that is obviously dedicated to the utmost quality. It is also casual, simple, and the prices are very fair. It may not be a place for a romantic evening or formal dinner, but it's doing a great job at what it has selected to be its mission: to provide high-quality sushi in a casual setting. I will certainly be back if in the area.

Best sushi I have had in a long time! Always fresh and plenty of options. The Hana Roll and Altamonte roll are excellent! I don't live in the area but frequently stay in a hotel close by and found this restaurant by accident a few years ago and visit every time I'm in town. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a sushi place!

One of my favorite yelper friends, Jeff K, doesn't throw five stars around lightly, but Hana is one of his five-star recommendations, and I can see why. I braved a nearly blinding Saturday rainstorm on I-4 (I hate I-4 on a good day) to check out this little spot in Renaissance Center in Altamonte Springs. (With time to kill before the restaurant opened, I dropped in at Dillard's and came away with some excellent sale items, For The Win!) Others have already mentioned that Hana is on the spartan side when it comes to decor. There is an aquarium, about 55 gallons, with one small lonely fish and no nooks and crannies for the little bugger to explore. Next to that is a failed attempt at placing bamboo shoots in a basket, which just lay there flaccidly, looking even worse than when I tried that decorating scheme at home. But I came to Hana for food, and that's where they excelled. On this visit I didn't try Jeff's recommended spicy tuna bowl. Instead, I had sushi, sashimi and a couple of rolls, along with miso soup. The yellowtail sushi was remarkable; in fact I told my accommodating waitress that it was possibly the best I've had. The smoked salmon sushi and masago sushi were also fresh and I would recommend them to anyone. In my earliest days exploring sushi, my partner and I tried eel and both felt it was just too strong. Since then, until today, I have steered clear of it. But feeling adventurous, I ordered eel sashimi; it was downright amazing, Gracie! Now, I must go back and try it at other places where I've bypassed it. Tough, but a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do. The Altamonte Roll and the Picerne Roll were both top-notch. I've seen Picerne Rolls elsewhere, but a google search for picerne came up with nothing but real estate listings. Anybody know what picerne is? I've had the good fortune of discovering a number of good sushi places this year. Hana is among the best in class. Oh, and the entire menu is 15% off on Saturdays for lunch!

I absolutely love this place! Whenever my boyfriend and I want our sushi fix, this is the spot! We haven't had any problems since dining there, but I can see how some people can get a bit antsy waiting to be seated. The restaurant is small and fills up fairly fast and it takes quite some time before anybody greets you. I don't mind it that much because it's worth the wait to me. The presentation is pretty nice, and I really think they have quality food. The rolls are delicious and I love the appetizers. I usually get the Green Mussels which are a combination of mayo and masago sauce, and the Hana Bomb, slightly fried avocado filled with spicy tuna and topped with crab. Love love love. I would definitely recommend this place to anybody who wants the real deal! Also, they always have coupons for guests. Check out Asia Trend to find some deals. Sometimes you just have to mention that you saw their add in the paper and they'll give you a discount!
