Been missing my friends at the tap house! The first couple of times we visited, we were sad. But they listened and wow--they turned into a place worthy of the best cities in America. Their newest menu is killer! My mouth is so hot and happy while eating the buffalo tots (sans bacon, but if you're a bacon fan (99% of the world, I can't imagine it hurts this dish!). John and zack are always the best--such wonderful service! Highly recommend for any type of day, time or occasion. Cheers!

I haven't lived in Wilmington long, but Trolley Tap is quickly becoming my favorite place to chill in the area. I've been here twice for happy hour and once at around 10pm. All three times have been top notch. The fish and chips are on point; the fish is melt-in-your-mouth good. The happy hour deals are hard to beat too. When I was in on Friday, the keg for the beer I got ran out half-glass. The bartender handed me the half-filled glass, went downstairs to change the keg, then came back up and poured a full pint... then only charged me for one pint. Can't beat the service! Great beer variety too - any place that has Dogfish Miles Davis is a win in my book! Keep doing what you're doing, Trolley Tap

Not a huge variety for food, BUT the options are fresh and delicious! We sampled 6 drafts, 4 that we chose and 2 that John, our server chose for us. He was AMAZING. This review is mostly for him... He was knowledgable, friendly, and energetic- a trifecta of good server qualities. We enjoyed our experience and the credit is all his!

The tap list is showing more variety lately, which in a way is kinda arbitrary since I'm only basing that on my personal taste... but it's a good thing :) The menu has taken a complete turn around! It went from "blah" & "meh" to "WOW" & "is it socially acceptable to eat more than one entree at a time". The new chef, Toby, has really put a new and much needed spark into the variety & quality of the food offered. I actually ate 2 different meals in 1 day here because I wanted to try something else that bad. So far I've had the chorizo sliders, pork belly risotto & braised short rib & can't decide which I liked best! I'd still like to see some more "one off" beers, the occasional firkin & beer dinner events. Hopefully those will come as traffic here continues to increase.

The braised short rib is amazing. Also the chorizo sliders are a great starter! Plenty of drinks to choose from!

Great place! My husband and I had Saturday brunch here and were very impressed. The place was cool, relaxed and very clean. The staff was attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. There are so many beers on tap, you are bound to find a few that you like! Our food was very tastey; we had the huevos rancheros and reuben frank - fresh and delicious. For dessert we had the rice pudding and it was awesome. We will definitely be returning here!

This was my second visit to Trolley Tap House. My first review was less than favorable. And like most things in life taking sometime apart can be a good thing. Conceptually I still think it is what Trolley Square needed. I think it is the type of bar that was missing from Trolley. I still wish Miller Lite would stay off the menu but it's dirt cheap and there is a crowd for it. My complaints during the first visit had to do with the quality of the food and the service. This time I have to say that my view has changed completely. While I still think improvement is possible, I was happier with the food. Which I will give in detail below. The service was also better, my server was there when needed and not overbearing. It would be nice to get a suggestion on what beer would pair best with each meal either on the menu or from the server. First the beer list was great and better than others in the area. But this is expected from a tap house. I went with the Southern Hemisphere Harvest Fresh Hop IPA(sounds pompous I know, I was at a craft beer bar) from California's classic brewery Sierra Nevada. It was wonderful and served in the proper glass which is always good. For an appetizer we went with the soft pretzels with beer cheese and ground mustard. It was okay not worth the $8 for two Philly Pretzel Factory Pretzels and small cups of dipping sauces. Would have liked to see fresh made bite size pretzels. Luckily there were only two of us so it wasn't a huge deal but again it is a personal preference and I think it would have made it better. I was nervous that we made a mistake returning after the lackluster appetizer. However for dinner I ordered the Backyard Burger cooked medium and the chef nailed the burger. The burger was cooked perfect and packed a huge amount of flavor. The only complaint I had was the onion straws. They were soggy and didn't pull apart easily when biting into it. This makes me think they had been sitting around for a while, potentially since lunch service. One of the biggest improvements were the fries. They cut them a bit different and they appeared to be fresh cut. They were the prefect amount of crisp on the outside and fluffy in the middle. They were not over seasoned or over greasy which is often a problem. All in all the experience was much better, which will lead me back through their doors in the near future. Now that this place has passed the burger test* I will plan on experiencing the rest of the menu. I can only imagine that this place will continue to improve as it continues to carve its niche in Trolley Square. *= Burger Test: If you can't cook a burger right, you probably can't cook many other items right. **My actual rating is 3.5**

Went here on a Friday night for dinner/drinks - Would come back for beer, but not for food. The beer selection is on point, and the prices are what you'd expect for craft (the cheap beers seem overpriced though). Ordered pretzels for an app, which came with a ton of mustard and not much cheese, so asked for more - Got a heaping thing pretty quick so that's cool. Not cool - being up charged for extra when there wasn't much to start with. Just heap it in the first time guys. Got the fish tacos (on special) to share for dinner, but the server brought us fish & chips. Decided not to send it back since we like those too, but these aren't great. Fish came out pretty soggy. Chips were good though. Overall: Service was mediocre (might chalk it up to being 9pm on a Friday night, but other establishments with similar beer & fare are doing it just fine) - Food was meh for the price - Beer is good and the only thing I'd come back for. I really want to like this place for more than just the beer. I hope it gets better!

So this place would get more stars if I was comparing it just to other bars in Trolley, because it is a place that features more craft beers than probably any other place in Trolley. Trouble is there are many other places where you can go for craft beers and this shouldn't be the sole thing you have going for you. It's not a bad place, there just isn't a whole lot that is good. It's a meh in my opinion.

Love the atmosphere at trolley tap house and the service is great! I have to take away two stars. I recently stopped by after their recent menu change, which is completely fine and normal, but I ordered one of my favorite dishes off their old menu and I was really disappointed when I received the updated dish as it was not the same. I was even more disappointed when I was actually charged for the dish. The dish was awful. Being nice and completely empathetic to the service industry, I told the manager we would pay for the dish, but was never expecting to actually be charged as we took two bites out of the dish. Will be back as I love the atmosphere but I will be a little bit more skeptical of my meal selection.

I'm from San Diego, CA and finding good craft beer in restaurants here has been a real struggle. I like trying new things beers when I go out. This place is perfect for that. I love stouts and porters and they have had some of the best! Everyone here is really nice and very knowledgeable. The menu is not for me, but I don't come here for the food.

Am I going to a different Trolly Tap House? Because everytime I've been here, it's been great. I wish I could remember the name of the waiter the first time I went there because he was extremely helpful. It was a busy Friday evening and he took the time to explain various food items on the menu as well as the different beers on tap and what his favorites were. The pickle plate was one of my favorite items on the menu and I was really excited to get the chance to try a pickled egg. I always wondered what they tasted like. Spoilers...they're delicious. Yes the beers are a little more pricey than a Bud Light, but that's to be expected with craft beers. I would much prefer to come here for some interesting craft beverages and ambiance than just another bland sports bar.

Review needs an update. They have added additional daily selections to the menu which are creative and tasty. (Today Pacific Asian pork tacos and Polish pierogies with porter braised onions). Additional beer selections as well. Most importantly. They are now open for lunch 7 days a week!!

I'm having trouble understanding the negative reviews. I've been here twice and loved it both times. The food is interesting and delicious, and the beer selection is amazing. People are complaining about things like price and "I didn't like their environmentally-friendly plates!" It's silly. Of course you will have to pay a bit more for craft beer on tap. It also wasn't very expensive unless you are accustomed to having a night out at Wendy's, then maybe you'll have trouble paying for this reasonably priced food.

Met some friends on Sunday evening for dinner and drinks. At first we thought we were given a late night menu because it was fairly limited and descriptions were not very good. We were going to order burgers until we saw one come out to the table next to us, it looked like a McDonald's patty. The fried green beans were ok, the sauce was very lemony. Ordered the grilled cheese, it was horrible, the bread was so thick and the goat cheese was slathered on, you almost choked trying to chew it. The pork belly sandwich was okay. The default side for sandwiches is chips, there is a $2 up charge for fries that is not on the menu. From the start, our server was very disinterested and seemed oddly overwhelmed, the restaurant was not that busy. One of the beers that our friend ordered was kicked, so he ordered a different beer, but she brought out something completely different. Then, one of our glasses had lipstick on it and her response was "oh gross, we have a dishwasher." Overall, we were very disappointed. The food and beer were overpriced, the options were just ok, and the service left something to be desired.

This is my go-to spot to grab a low key drink with friends. The vibe is great, even on week nights. The happy hour deals are hard to beat (craft beers and some apps 1/2 price), I just wish it went past 6pm. Last night I had the fish tacos ($9 for 3) and holy ish, SO good. The fried green beans are great too.

As a Wilmington resident there are few places I find I can enjoy on the weekends anymore. We are in our early 30s and are completely over the "college scene". Tap House is just what we needed! The food is creative and delicious. The atmosphere is perfect and the beer selection is amazing!!!! We will definitely be becoming regulars :)

I had high hopes for this restaurant and have been disappointed for the third and last time! Trolley Tap House is a great location! If only I I could get a decent meal to have with all the overpriced craft beer at least it may be worth the visit. Unfortunately that's not the case. My husband's burger was so greasy and full of salt he could barely take a second bite. My Asiian Salad was also a huge disappointment. The chicken was rubbery and the portion was so small and definitely not worth the price. Every time we have visited we have had a horrible meal. Sorry Trolley Tap House we will not return.

Place just opened and they are still ironing out some kinks, but the beer selection is AMAZING. If you are a beer aficionado like myself you need to go. I had the cheese plate which was very good.

My wife and I are huge fans. This is a wonderful, welcome addition to the neighborhood and a treasure. Great food, creative menu, awesome beer selections. Service has always been tremendous. We've lunched, brunched, dinner and just drank and never had a complaint. Price is great, and on a pretty day it is tough to fathom a better spot. Wilmington has a great beer culture, what with Ulysses, Two Stones, Iron Hill and now Trolley. Highest possible recommendation - can't wait to go back.

The food here is fantastic! Had probably the best chicken quesedilla I've ever had and the pastrami and burgers my friends had were really delicious and different! Great staff and atmosphere as well!

Stopped in with my wife for a quick bite after coming home from Philly. It's a nice change of pace from the majority of what's available in Trolley. The appetizer and sandwiches that we had were fantastic but the real stand out was the beer selection. Easily the most eclectic in the area. I'm sure this probably turns some people off but I like having the chance to try new things. Our waiter did a great job of explaining some of the beers and was always on time asking if you wanted another round. I wish I could remember his name. We really loved the look and feel of the space. It's not a sit-down restaurant and doesn't try to be one. It may not be my first choice to go and start the evening with dinner but it certainly would be the place I'd want to go to close the evening out. I think the tap house will come into its own over the next few months and really hope to get back in sometime soon.

My fiancé and I ate at the tap house last week and we had a great time. Our server, Chris, was charming and very knowledgeable about the delicious food menu and all of the craft beers. The manager, Grant, even stopped by our table to ask how everything was. The chicken breast was juicy, the vegetables were fresh and crisp, the potato medallions were amazing, and my fiancé is still raving about the Kennett Square burger. We are definitely coming back to try the dark cherry and apple ravioli and more craft beers asap! Thanks for the beginning of a wonderful date night!

VERY DISAPPOINTED.... Being a trolley square resident I was really looking forward to a new place... I got the blue cheese burger... It HAD to be a frozen patty. There was no juice and looked like a fast food place burger and tasted lke it,it was also served with chips... I just find that to be cheap, and for the whopping price tag of $10.50 it was a complete rip off. My friend got the hot pastrami that was so tough she really had to try to chew it. It also had a lot a lot of fat on it... The paper biodegradable plates need to go, it really made the meal trashy. Beer selection is large but like most craft beer- over priced. I honestly don't think I will go back. I'll stick with the already established trolley restaurants with food that's worthy of the high price tag. Really hope they get their act together or they are sure to go down fast - at least in the food dept. Sad.

The beer selection is great and the servers are very friendly. The food needs some help. The fish and chips had to be the worst thing I ever tasted. In think the fish was actually bad. It smelled and tasted super bad. Also I think they said it was flounder. Last time I checked you are suppose to use cod. Hopefully they will work on the food side so this place will stay in business.

Love the cool vibe this place has. Great beer selection and excellent food. I visit once a month from NJ and it is never a let down. Friendly staff and customers. A must try in Wilmington.

Beer selection is good not great, better than most in trolley. Beer prices are laughable, just like everywhere in Wilmington with good beer, there is little competition so..... Service is good. Much better option than Hooligans was but the food is not worth it, stick to the aps and beers. The grilled cheese is white toast with smeared goat cheese. Who thinks that's grilled cheese? The pork belly was over cooked, and the tomato confit on the sandwich was ruined by the spread they used. The regular burger looked like something I could slap together at home. Here is all you really need to know, it's Rooneys attempt to go up market so you know, as we found out, corners will be cut. Been in there twice for drinks which was fine and the bartenders are great. This was the third time and the first for food. Each time several taps were kicked, I'm hoping it's just because they are new and so busy. I never share bad reviews because I know they are trying, but honestly it just missed the mark. It has potential, it really does. Tap house if your reading this, those bamboo plates are terrible and even though they are biodegradable, it's still a ton of waste and production, just use regular plates. (Unless you compost it yourself and donate to local gardens then maybe I see the point) I will give the place a few more tries but will likely stick to beers.

I really wanted to love this place but management really needs to step up its game. Went for dinner Saturday evening, 4 of the beers on the list were kicked. I asked what they were replacing them with and was told that they just kicked them in the afternoon and they hadn't decided yet. Ordered the grilled cheese, it was served on thick white toast and the sandwich was ice cold. I sent it back (and I never send food back) and ordered a burger, it was better but still not up to par with other establishments in the area. The manager came over to our table to find out why I sent the grilled cheese back, I explained and he said he would be back to make sure the burger met my expectations. We never saw him again.

Just came back here to see if this place changed from the hot mess it used to be when this tool named Patrick used to manage it. The answer is...yes. The place has a different vibe to it. The service was spot on! The food was delicious. It's nice to see that they did away with alot of the pretentious, bland, and boring food that made McDonalds look good. The selection of beer was not only good but the waitstaff had knowledge of what was coming out of the tap. Kudos..I'll be coming back!

I have been to this establishment one time . We stopped in on a Friday afternoon about 5 pm . Found a table but the place was filling up . First observation .... LOUD . And it will get louder when the roll up windows are closed for the winter . There was music playing but you could barely hear it . It can get expensive for some of the more obscure beers . No-LI Imperial was 6 bucks for 6 ounces !! I always look for happy hour breaks and the full pours ( 12 to 16 ounces ) were 1 dollar off ...... Not great but some break . The Uinta Hop Nosh was excellent , this is the kind of beer that will keep me coming back ..... Hope they keep this as a regular . The beer list was very good , which is expected from a good beer bar these days . The staff was friendly and helpfull . I could become a fan of this place .

The beer choices were good. If you're just going for beer, you're in luck. However, we've been twice and the food was not good. Please, please, please do something about the food. I'd love to go more, but the food is just so bad. It's like someone pulled it out of the freezer and put it in the microwave before serving. Best thing so far were the pretzels and the chicken satay. Pickle plate was okay. Mac and cheese was bad, which was so disappointing. The food reminds me of something that would be served on a styrofoam plate at your cousin's picnic. But come on, I'm paying money for this. Also, it was extremely loud. Not that I mind a bunch, but I could hardly hear what the person sitting across the table from me was saying. That's not a deal-breaker, but don't expect to go there and have much of a conversation.

This place is great if you want to get your drink on; however, if you're expecting to eat well while drinking ... not so much. The menu is extremely limited and frankly costly for what you're getting.

It's fine. Food is okay - besides the pretzels. The pretzels are good. The blue cheese burger is the best entree I've had there. I would go back more if the food was better but it's a good place for a casual beer with friends! Nice addition to trolley.

This place SUCKS!!! We went on the 20th of September and half of the beers were kicked and there were no replacements. We even asked for miller lite since there was nothing else and they didn't have that anymore. The food is cold and very high priced. We retuned the food, and the manager cam to us to ask why and then was not only rude but also said "Well I'm not giving you a discount". We never even asked for one. He was very standoffish and I can't believe he is a manager. The food looks and tastes like it came from the lunchroom cafeteria. This is supposed to "change" trolley square? It looks like the same crap Trolley has been offering for years now. Wont be going back.

Must try, wide selection of beers! Service needs to be improved, too slow on weekends. Looked like there were too few waiters for the number of customers in the restaurant.

Took a trip down to Wilmington to meet up with some friends and had a great time at Trolley Tap House. From what I understand, this used to be a college sports kind of bar and was completely renovated recently. While some tvs are still there for whatever's on, it's definitely not a frat bar anymore. Grown up spot for a more sophisticated (but not stuffy) crowd. It's a great vibe - fantastic beer selection, laid-back but rustic/trendy atmosphere, and inventive American fare. I really enjoyed the soft pretzels (with a goat cheese dip!) and the pork belly sandwich. Next time will have to try the PB&J Burger and some dessert, which was hard to save room for when you are drinking some good beers.

I had reservations with my friends here on NYE. We all had nachos, fish and chips, pub fries, and burgers. I dine out often and at many different restaurants. I'd have to say the burgers were the best I have ever had, thick, juicy and full of flavor. Nachos were huge and delicious, pub fries were absolutely ridiculous! We ordered the fish and chips on a whim, and we all nearly fell out of our chair after tasting them. By far the best fish and chips I've ever had in the country. I mentioned to the manager how much we loved them and he mentioned they use a yellow belly flounder rather than your typical cod. They definitely don't cut any corners here and serve delicious, high quality plates. I have been here once or twice to have some beers from their extensive beer menu, which too is top notch! Just make sure you try the food along with the beer and you won't want to leave, I can't wait to go back!

We stopped for lunch on October 11 and Had a great experience! We sat at the bar and the bar tender was attentive and knowledgeable. The beer selection was above average for our taste, which centers on IPA and darker heavier beer. The food selection was interesting and our selections prepared very well. The bar fries are a must. We appreciated the 6oz option so we could sample more. Will definitely go back next time we are in the area.

Very disappointing indeed. I've been three times because I wanted to give it a fair shake. I live very near there and had high expectations. Perhaps too high. The place was sold as a Trolley Square version of other area gastropubs like Ulysses and Two Stones. It doesn't live up to that billing at all. The beer selection is nice, but not outstanding. I don't even mind that they 86 certain speciality beers. It happens especially if they are popular. I'd prefer more imports and less niche micros, but that's just my preference. I understand that. My issue is the food. It's just not anything special. Although it's priced as something special. I can only hope that the chef and managment make the need adjustments. The space is great but honestly there is no real reason for me to go if the food isn't up to standard. As it stands now it is not worth the trip. File this under "Bummer"...
