Can't beat the price! You also can't miss the sign in front of the place. This is a great place for college students, young couples for a fun quite date, or a group of friends that want to take a break from video games. It's a little run down but it works. Hey, you can even get a glass of wine. You can hang out a while. I would recommend for you to go to Brew Ha Ha (not far from the place) for a cup of espresso and desert to finish the night. More moolah your pocket!

AH, Mr Pasta! Nick from Sallies is still in there and kicki'. I haven't been back in Wilmington for years but this week is my penance and graciously Nick's ravioli and meatball ...the HOLY GRAIL! Food is consistent with what I remembered from high school years ago. This is true, old school italian food, priced reasonably and served with a smile! And it looks like Nick's grandson is in the kitchen, carrying on this great italian tradition! You go, Nick!

We have been here several times. The food is good. Can't say it's the best Italian food I have had but not bad. The owner a older gentlemen is extremely nice and friendly. The only down fall is they do not take cc's. Cash only.

After reading several of the reviews and constantly driving by, my husband and I decided to pay Mr. Pasta a visit during our lunch break. The place itself is dull and lacks any character. The owner, Nick is nice and the facility was relatively clean. My husband ordered the chicken and shrimp fettuccini alfredo- food was heated up using a microwave (it was 12:30 in the afternoon). This caused sections of his food to be cold and other parts to be extremely hot. The tails of the shrimp were found in the food and the chicken was dry and lacked any taste making it hard to swallow. I ordered the cheese ravioli with meatballs. The dish came with one meatball and was drowned in sauce. This took away from the true taste of the dish. We also ordered a side of garlic bread- everyone knows you can not have a complete Italian meal with out the garlic bread. This by far has to be the best part of our meal- it was buttery and garlicky. Very delicious. Not a place that I would frequent again.

Absolutely fantastic Italian food! I grew up in Wilmington and used to get pizza here as a kid and got take-out spaghetti sauce, meatballs, and angel hair pasta tonight. Everyone loved it. The owner is a great guy and is very proud of what he prepares and he should be. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! GREAT VALUE!!

I went to a birthday party that was catered by Mr. Pasta. The meatballs were tender and delicious. The sauce tasted just like my Nan's. We also had baked ziti which was filled with cheese and delicious sauce in every bite. I am a big fan and I will definitely stop into the restaurant soon.

So I just got done eating here and I was pleasantly surprised. When I first walked in, I saw a big sign saying "you get it my way or get the hell out". I was scared but it turned out to be delicious. Tacky yes, but absolutely delicious. The wedding soup is great. And we even got to talk a little to mr pasta himself! You can eat for $10. The Alfredo sauce is very thick but delicious. He was so funny and broke my heart when he said not a lot of people want to deal with him. He's just so adorable. It's worth that itself. I'll definitely be back. Sooner rather than later. What a great experience.

Best meatballs ever! Good homemade food! Prices are very reasonable. The sauce or if you are Italian, the gravy is very good as well. If you are a food snob then stay away. If you want some good homemade Italian food and don't care about ambience and can deal with a old Italian guy doesn't give a crap what you think and is himself, which can be a little rough around the edges then this place is for you.

OK - I haven't actually gotten to EAT the food here just yet. Today my friends and I stopped in to Mr. Pasta. The place was dead-empty (no dine-in people at all) and just one guy in front of us who had ordered some cheese ravioli - which he says he gets all the time and LOVES. My friend and I looked at the cases of fresh home-made "to go" pastas. Alas, they are cash only so we had to leave and come back another day. But we WILL be back. And soon.

Mr. Pasta is our pat's or geno's south Philly equivalent in regards to how food and service will be handled. Going to mr. Pasta you should be aware of two things, 1. there are no debit or credit cards accepted. 2. You will not be dining in the typical dinner service environment. You order when you first walk in, and usually it's the owner, Nick, behind the counter. After paying you'll sit at a table where drinks and food are brought over. This meal is worthwhile! Best cheese raviolis I've had, I even use mr. Pasta as a store and buy it frozen to take home extra!!! Also, great garlic bread. Meatballs are always fresh but hit or miss! This place is a gem, never looks open which hurts business, but it's worth parking and heading inside!

This is a mom and pop restaurant owned by an old Italian gentleman who's been in business for 53 years (he told me himself)! I think it's the best italian food I've ever had because it's homemade!! I don't even like italian usually so that's saying something. I love how you can get homemade fresh (or flash frozen) pasta here, not stuff that's dried and come out of a box. The sauce is also very good and does not taste like it came out of a jar like what I find in every other italian dish I've had at restaurants. The parmesan cheese is actually freshly grated parmesan as well, not that dried up salt-like granules that come in the plastic bottles. Only reason I didn't give this place 5 stars is because of the sub-par service. Don't expect service here. Don't count on any set operating hours either. The owner will close the restaurant early if there are no customers. This is probably due to this being a mom and pop shop and the owner being around 75? years old. He walks with a hunched back and can barely stand upright. I'm surprised he can still walk around and work the kitchen. One time in particular though, I went around 20 minutes before closing time and the owner was nice enough to serve us. However, I found out from beeps coming in from the kitchen that he microwaved our food to heat it up faster, so he could close shop on time. I didn't really mind that he was trying to rush us since I knew of the at whim store hours. Plus, I can wolf down food in 20 minutes no problem, but that turned out to be more difficult than I thought. Because the food was microwaved, my raviolis were extremely hot, scalding my tongue while my friend's was cold and unevenly heated in some spots. All in all, the raviolis were still good due to the recipe and the method they were made but I did not how the restaurant decided to serve us microwaved food. The quality of the food is superb but microwaving is not the proper way to heat up food for the patrons no matter how pressed for time you are. In the end, the food is superb so please don't skip this place due to the service! I recommend buying the flash frozen pasta they have in the freezers and heating it up at home instead of dining-in. It will save you the grief of not getting great service. Also I should mention, this place is cash only.

Mr. Pasta is a Philly Pike staple. Their meatballs are killer, and you shouldn't miss their cheese ravioli. I don't eat Italian food very often (unless my Italian mom is cooking!) but when I've got a hankerin' for simple Italian food, Mr. Pasta is where it's at. Fresh handmade pasta is always so much better than stuff in a box; if you've never had it, you've gotta try it. These guys do it right. Their prices are super-reasonable. You can eat in, or you can buy stuff to cook at home from their huge "Cook at Home" menu. I've always found the service to be friendly and easygoing, and the atmosphere pretty relaxed. Don't let the Claymonty exterior push you away; this place is an institution that's been around over 50 years. How good are you gonna look at 50? :) Note: They are CASH ONLY. But they are also inexpensive, so no stress.

Food was awesome as always. Great price and quality food. Owner takes the order and not just some guy who could care less. Love it!M

If I could give it zero stars, I would. Bad service. Hostile management in response to customer concerns.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
