Just great. The tacos were awesome. Make sure to order some fried scallions with any meal. Very authentic food.

Don't let the area/neighborhood fool you- Jalapeno Grill is a keeper! From the outside, it looks like a small little hole in the wall, but the inside is extremely clean and updated. The lighting is great and the booths are newly constructed. It's a cozy lil place at best! Their chips & salsas are so good, they had 3 different heats of salsa- and they were outstanding! We also got the happy hour margaritas, which were quite tasty too and served in the cutest little mason jars.... yes, mason jars at a Mexican restaurant... I *loved* it!! I had three different kinds of tacos- carne asada, pollo, and some kind of pork. Sara got the Baja fish tacos...those were weird because it was like they were little frozen fish patties... so strange. I hope this lil place makes it in Wilmington, because it's really cute & quite tasty :)

I really don't see what the hype is about this place. I've had better tacos from other places in the area. The waitress also messed up our orders. I don't know if she didn't understand us or what?

I don't understand the great reviews. I had the empanadas mixtas. They were really just ehhh. I didn't think the taste was very authentic and the tomato sauce tasted like it came from a can. Did I go on a bad night or something?

The food was great--- in fact really really good! Service horrible. We had a private party of 20 people and they had 1 server covering all of us. We actually wrote our order down on a piece of paper and have it to the waiter. I think it would be fine with a smaller group.

My boyfriend and I were looking for some authentic Mexican food at a decent price. We found this place on yelp and when I realized that this place was where I dined before as a little girl we decided to try it out. I wasn't sure if the owners were the same after so many years so it was a risk we were taking but went ahead and ordered. We did a takeout of 2 steak and chicken fajitas, 2 tacos, and a side of fries. This all totaled to $28! I found that to be reasonable considering the amount of food we got. The fajitas bring a very nice amount of yellow rice with corn in it beans and steak and chicken with green peppers and fried onions very nicely seasoned by the way! Everything was seasoned nicely. The steak and chicken were tender and juicy. The fajitas come with 3 tortillas and a little side salad. The side salad contains lettuce tomatoes and sour cream. We both enjoyed the fajitas and even had some left over! So the portions are big enough to fill you up and still have enough for later. The tacos were also a success. They were very yummy. The pork on the tacos were soft and juicy just like the chicken and steak. The fries were seasoned well, crispy, and fresh. Everything cooked to perfection and very saucy. It helped that the person that took my order was very friendly as we weren't familiar with the menu. I will be dinning here again and again lol. I recommend for sure!

I decided to check them out for dinner. It was an off time to eat so there weren't too many other customers. The staff were friendly, their salsa and (virgin) margaritas are yumtastic. Honestly, I haven't been too impressed by their food though. I mean it's good, don't get me wrong, but not enough to drive out of the way to go there. It's sort of bland. If I am in the area I would stop by again.

If you liked the old Tijuana Taco you need to go to Margarita Grill: Same great food, same owners, same cooks. This is just the same person who owns the building. companies.findthecompany…

We've been coming to this restaurant since before it was Jalepeno Grill. We LOVE it! I normally get the fish tacos and my boyfriend gets a mixture of beef and chicken tacos. Everything is fresh and well cooked. The place is clean and the one server has been there for years and always recognizes us and makes us feel at home. The only thing I would change is adding parking which I'm sure they can't do because it's the city. You can park across the street in the AutoZone as long as you don't park in the parking spaces in the front (park off to the sides). I highly recommend!

Great authentic Mexican food! Deliciously prepared entrees make you feel like you've teleported south of the border. Always attentive service from our waiter Tino makes this a fun and tasty stop for lunch or dinner. The salsas are made fresh every day and the staff welcomes you in like family. If you're looking for the real deal look no further. My personal recommendation is the fish tacos!! Awesome!

This is a real authentic Mexican restaurant with some southern Cali Mexican inspired dishes such as, carne asada fries, and cali style potato burritos. The chips and salsa are really good. They brought me out three different salsa with different levels of hotness. I am strictly rating this place on the food. If your looking for the gringo Americanize south of the border restaurant, walk the other way. Its a mom and pop operation and I like the place.

I've heard the food is good. I have no idea if it is, because we waited over an hour and a half without being served even a glass of water. We shouldn't have come on Cinco de Mayo - they seated us in the back of a restaurant and completely forgot about us. It took 45 minutes for a waiter to come, who promised he'd be right back with drinks and chips. 45 minutes later, we never saw him again. Will never return.

Nicely priced place to go with a group for Mexican food. Food was a little on the dry side and the waitress didn't pay attention to the chips and salsa so we kept running out.

Sketchy location that makes me scared when I don't get a good parking spot and have to walk to my car alone....but very good food. Yummy tacos and margaritas. The fish tacos are really good. Can't beat the prices and very friendly staff.

Mexican restaurant with an authentic feel. The fish tacos are delicious! Also love the chips and salsa that they serve while you wait for the food. I thought the chicken salad (besides the chicken itself, which was marinated in a great sauce) was a little blend - I will stick with the tacos!

This place is AWESOME! Not only is the place super cool and decorated so well, but it is spotless! The food was amazing, hot and fresh...I had the steak fajitas and I have never had a better plate. The steak was so tender and flavorful! I have been to soooo many places all over the city and no place touches these fajitas!!! Our sever was super nice and friendly. The owner Luciano--came over to our table to check in. He was the man! His son is also there, as well as his wife and ahem--beautiful daughter Gabrielle. I love the family vibe. In short, this place can't get much better. I am invested. So many of my friends from philadelphia are making their way down to check it out...and so should YOU!

Awesome authentic Mexican! Whenever I'm in the Wilmington area I make sure to make a stop. Staff is polite and very helpful in explaining the menu which has tons of options. Food is always delicious, the chorizo bean dip is my favorite. The restaurant is spacious and has a nice relaxed feel.. I wish there was one in Philly!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
