Consistently fantastic sandwiches made by really friendly folks! This place is probably overlooked since it is on the backside of the Trolley Square mall but is one of the best places to eat in that square block.

So so good. Prosciutto was sliced fresh to order. This place is a gem, I am just disappointed I only decided to try it now. Will definitely have to try the cheesesteak next as I haven't found a great one within walking distance.
(5)Sara S.
The owner was super friendly! Meats are all hand sliced for EACH order, wow, that is amazing. Italian hoagie was very good- $7.50 for 10 inches, I'd say that is a great deal. He told me to come back for his cheesesteaks- I've heard they are very good as well. Try Gaudiello's for awesome hoagies or cheesesteaks!

Quality ingredients. I always get the traditional Italian w everything. Basic but good. No frills. But a great sub.

Came here because we were passing through and saw great reviews of this place. It lived up to the great reviews! The place is very small inside with only two workers (maybe a husband and wife team), they are on top of this place! Sandwiches are very large, either a 10 or 16 inch are your choices, but you can always share. We ordered the regular Italian, came with ham, mortadella, capicola, shredded lettuce, sliced tomatoes, sweet peppers (or you can choose spicy), choice of oil and mayo on a beautiful bread! The good was very simple but that's what made it taste so good! As we were eating, a lot of locals came in to get take out. The customers chatted with the owners like they had known them for years. I am always one for supporting the small businesses, and applauding their hard work.

I got the cheesesteak (10inch) with mushrooms. They have a 16 inch too but the smallest one was 10 inch. The cheesesteak by itself is 7.25 but with mushrooms came out to 8.25 and then I got a coke which was 2 bucks. The cheesesteak was pretty good- probably would be super dry without the cheese. I wish I had mayo to put on it. I think for wilmington standards this place is pretty decent. It closes at 7pm on weekdays so we got there right before it closed and had to bring our food back to the hotel to eat. It's basically a hole in the wall place, it's in the shopping center towards the back side When I was eating the sandwich I liked it but afterwards when I went out it didn't really sit well...so not sure what happened there. I'm from philly so I'm probably biased when it comes to cheesesteaks.

Closed at 6:00pm on a Saturday? What gives? I really wanted to try out the delicious cheesteak.

Saw the reviews on Yelp and figured I'd give it a shot. Did. Not. Disappoint. I was there about 11:30a and there were 5 or 6 obvious regulars eating, reading the paper(!), etc. Was pleasantly greeted by The Nice Lady who asked to take my order. I said, "Just fix me your best sandwich." She looked at me for a moment and I said, "Anything." She said okay and went to sandwich making. She asked, "Sweet or hot peppers?" And, "Oil ok?" I went with hot and oil. There were a couple of hoagies ahead of me but, in about 5 minutes, it arrived. Here's all I know: It had sliced ham and maybe prosciutto. Had no mayo, little bit of oil, little bit of evenly distributed hot peppers on a pretty fresh, soft and just the right amount chewy hoagie roll. It was the best damned sammich I've ever had. It was all I could do not to cry (man, I crack myself up sometimes). Ate the meal and went to pay I said, "Thank you for inviting me into your house and fixing me lunch." It was good.

I was intent on some good old fashioned stress eating. I asked for a cheese steak with triple cheese. The proprietor said, 'ok', and proceeded to make me a beauty of a sandwich. Give this guy some business! I don't know if he needs it, but it's off the beaten path, so who knows. My sandwich was fabulous.

Best Italian sub in Wilmington. Great steaks too.
(5)Maria-Elena T.
I split a cheesesteak and an Italian hoagie. I ordered the cheesesteak with extra cheese (based on other reviews) plus lettuce and tomato. I don't think I spoke the entire time I ate it! It was delicious! The right combo of steak and american cheese in a perfectly doughy roll. The Italian sub was for meat lovers and he sliced the meat right then. There s a choice of sweet or hot peppers. The sweet were strips of green pepper, not your usual banana peppers from a jar. The hot peppers were a relish made from red pepper flakes. I asked for extra lettuce and got a pile to put on both. I will stop here again of I am in the area and order an entire cheesesteak !
(4)Brenda L.
Absolutely the best, fresh sliced to order for the best cheese steak you'll ever have, and I grew up in Philly and A.C. eating nothing but cheese steaks. So give it a try.
(5)Jamie B.
Great sandwiches! I've been eating here since they were located across the street from Llangollen on Rt.13. You won't be disappointed.
(5)Patty P.
Great subs! Love the Special Italian and the Nigerian is delicious! Look forward to the next time I order from there.
(5)Johnathan M.
Everytime I leave the area the first thing I miss is the Italian from Gaudiello's. No other region in the country can make a sub like these guys. Words really can't express how much I love this place.
(5)Ashley W.
So good!! Had the cheesesteak with peppers, onions, and mushrooms. Will definitely be back!

Being a native Delawarean, I've been eating at Casapulla's and Capriotti's for a long time, but I may have commit an act of blasphemy and say that Gaudiello's has the best subs in the state. Hard to tell yet as I'm a new customer, but with the Italian and cheese steak being exceptionally good, and having everything cut upon order, it's a hard place to beat. Here's another thing you'll probably appreciate: while being in Trolley, the shop is on the back-side, and it's a bit unassuming. That means that you likely won't wait 30 minutes for a sub, which is surprisingly common in Casapulla's (not the fault of their employees though, those gals really hustle, they are just so busy). Either way you cut it, this is a 5-star sub place that's low key and locally owned, hard not to love.
(5)Chris G.
Add me to the list of customers who thinks Gaudiello's Italian hoagies are a gastronomic work of art. I was somewhat skeptical after reading all the five star reviews about how great the Italian subs are. I had to find out for myself and I'm glad I did!

luv this place! we drive across town for this! special italian is it!

With all due respect to the other four reviewers, the previous reviews have all UNDERSTATED the excellence of Gaudiello's. I consider myself something of a cheesesteak and Italian hoagie connoisseur (if not snob)--I eat them where ever I can find them in a perpetual search for the perfect creation. Imagine my surprise to find the best of each in one establishment in Delaware of all places. I've eaten steaks at Jim's on South Street, at Pat's and Geno's, and Delassandro's in Roxborough (my father lives around the corner), but none of them compare to Gaudiello's. Mike and his wife (Joan, I think) own the place and prepare everything themselves while you wait. Mike personally slices the steak meat and his wife handles the Italian hoagies. Both sandwiches almost literally melt in your mouth and burst with flavor. Of course, they use authentic Amoroso rolls. They have a few other hoagies and steak variations on the menu, but I can't get past the Italian hoagie and basic cheesesteak to try them. My wife tells me their chicken cheesesteaks are also equally to-die-for. There is no reason to get an Italian hoagie or cheesesteak anywhere else in the Wilmington area, and, if you love these common delicacies as much as I do, it is worth a trip from Philly or Baltimore to sample Gaudiello's. I was reluctant to write this review for fear of disrupting my hidden gem, but the secret is out now and I'd better not have to wait an hour for a sandwich or a table!

If you know about DiConstanza's in PA, then you will love this local establishment, which offers a similar product. Fresh baked bread, legit cold cuts and out of this world cheesteaks. I eat here at least once a week. And you should too.
(5)Ethan J.
Awesome hoagie! The place looks very old and dingy but the food is top notch..tried getting my oil and vinegar on the side, i was told by the owner " i have no container for that".??
(4)Julius-Colleen P.
I was hungry for a cheesesteak today so the guys here at work suggested Gaudiello's. It was really good but it's no Gino's. Be sure to add extra cheese! The owner was really nice and she seemed to enjoy her customers. You'd never find a deal like this in DC... For $7.50 you get a 10in Cheese steak and it's only $8.00 for one with extra cheese; I went with provolone.

Don't let the look fool you!

Without a doubt the best steaks and sandwiches around. I have tried everything on the menu, and my favorites are the Nigerian, Italian and the Cheesesteak. They also have Italian Long Hots, which are a welcome hot treat on any sandwich. The service is fast, accurate and friendly. I go here at least once a week and recommend it to anyone who asks where to get some good food. Do yourself a favor and get you yourself something from here next time you're hungry!

So. It was a Saturday. I was working. I texted Mr. V and said let's go to lunch, I want a SANDWICH. Luckily, a place that is .5 miles away doesn't take 30 minutes to get to during lunch hour on a Saturday. So we went to Gaudiello's Italian Hoagies in Trolley Square. SO GLAD WE DID. I ordered the Italian hoagie. Gods, I love the East Coast and their hoagies. We get subs in Los Angeles, even when I lived in the South. Hoagies here. Genius. So this hoagie (HOAGIE) filled ma belly. It's freshly sliced, it had peppers on it, it had seasoning on it, it had oil and vinegar on it, it had grated lettuce on it. It was a shebang of favor, exciting, and yum. I like yum. Who doesn't like yum? It's a little on the pricier side, but that's okay for me. The Philly cheesesteak! Again, Mr. V wasn't thrilled with it - but by his own admission, he "doesn't think he's a cheesesteak guy" and this one didn't have enough cheese. And the shaved part - AA and he discussed this at Rooney's, how he wants "strips of sirloin on bread", it's "something about this shaved thing". So that's Mr. V's take. I liked it, though I would've liked more cheese/steak/both - it was seasoned well, just MORE please. Like mine, overflowing with meaty goodness. I would go again. And I would take my mom. She likes Italian subs, so she'd love a HOAGIE. I think I just like saying it.

All I can say is that my waist-line is lucky I don't live closer to this place. The folks that run the shop are very friendly. It is truly a Mom and Pop Shop. They are fast and the food is tasty. I had a chicken cheese steak with fried onions. It rocked. They have the best bread. It was tasty sourdough like but not like San Francisco Sourdough. The next time I'm nearby Gaudiello's, I will be stopping in for another cheese steak. They can make this a six star review by selling sell beer. Because then it would be total heaven.
(5)Sarah B.
Wow!!! The Spicy Italian is amazing, the meat is sliced fresh and piled high and the bread is perfect. It takes a little longer to make, but it's totally worth the wait, especially for that first bite of prosciutto!
(5)Quiyonte R.
This place is a hidden gem. I have gone here for Lunch and I love yea love the cheesesteak they have. I get it WIT provolone. The size is good for less than $8. I am surprised its usually empty I there tho. *pretty suspect* Overall I would recommend this place & continue to eat here.
(4)Denise T.
I think Sarah B. and Christine R. have already said in their reviews exactly what I'd say as well. You cannot go wrong at Gaudiello's!
(5)Dan L.
I hear people complain that there are no great sub/steak shops in Delaware. These people obviously haven't tried Gaudiello's. Old school vibe, husband & wife team behind the counter hand slicing all the meats fresh to order (!), the best cheesesteaks in the state. And they're a great value - when you order a cheesesteak, they don't give you a thick sub roll with a pinch of meat (like some other shops in town) - they pack it! I feel bad that their location doesn't get a little more traffic - if they were on the front side of Trolley Square, the lines would be out the door everyday.
(5)Eric S.
Super-friendly service and a killer chicken cheesesteak. One of my favorite foods in Trolley.
(5)Maury N.
Best Italian in DE hands down. Roll is right consistency and meat is always fresh and hand sliced.
(5)Adam M.
Best subs in Wilmington? Try the Italian or the Nigerian (Turkey and Roast Beef). Really friendly staff and customers.
