Pizza
Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Banging pizza! They always got a great selection by the slice ready to eat in minutes. Excellent service up front and awesome pizza sets Ciao above all others in Delaware. There is a definitely a legit argument that this place is the best in the state. Go see my boy Mike up front and he will hook it up.

Delaware in general is by no means a pizza (or heck, any type of Italian food) mecca. But I'm pretty adamantly against ordering pizza from a chain. So when a pizza craving strikes, Ciao's is my go to. The staff is very friendly and gives off a very welcoming vibe. The pizza is alright, nothing that'll make me go out of my way to eat, but definitely suitable for a late night snack or a hunger pang. Ciao also has other typical pizza place fare: mozzarella sticks, hoagies, fries.. I'm sorry though, their buffalo chicken pizza makes my tastebuds sad. If you're roaming around Trolley Square and are looking for non-bar food, this is a solid option.

Pizza is great and they offer carry out or delivery (local). THE alternative to chain pizza nonsense we have in Delaware.
(4)Jeff S.
Refreshingly delicious compared to crappy chain food pizza!! I worked at the Hotel duPont... I always thought they should have given us some sort of discount for all the times we ordered from there. While it's a very good product (don't get a "chopped" antipasto salad!), it's a little on the expensive side for pizza.

There are very few things I miss about the time I lived in DE; they include no sales tax, cheap cost of living, and Ciao's Trolley Pizza & Grill. We found this place while living in downtown Wilmington, it was about a mile from where we lived. We ordered pizza from here pretty much every Friday night we were in Wilmington, in addition to other nights. The food was excellent, from the pizza to the hoagies to the fries. The food always tasted fresh and was served hot. Carryout and delivery were a cinch, and the food was ready when they said it would be. The staff was very friendly and the service was great. The seating is limited, and it is a popular place, especially since it is near the few bars in Wilmington. I highly recommend anyone in the area to try this place out, I even continued to drive in from the suburbs on occasion just to get their pizza. You will not be dissapointed.

Not health food, but they make their white pizza with enough garlic to burn off any impurties in your soul. You're already off your game if you've walked in there looking for healthy stuff anyway. Settle for fresh and be happy. Delish. They're super nice in there. Did I mention the chicken cheese steak? oh yes, its good, and they use fresh, not canned mushrooms. This is important. Nice vantage point of the passersby on the outside patio, or inside bar. Easy to eat there solo, or outside with a crown in nicer weather. yum.

Very good, thin crust New York Style pizza. They have an extensive list of toppings, however I would say their best pizza is the good old fashioned cheese pie. Very Similar to Margerithas Pizza near the campus of University of Delaware. Subs and Sandwichs arent bad but not amazing. However The Chicken Parm sub is so good your head may explode out of sheer amazement. I usally order take out but eat in is fine. This place definitely has the feel of your local neighborhood pizza shop. Parking is available across the street in trolley square.

Great thin crust (is there really any other type?) pizza joint well located in Trolley Square. This place has been slightly inconsistent the past couple times I have been there, with my pie being slightly undercooked, but on a whole this is my second favorite pizza place in town. I am really a sucker for a plain cheese pizza with a thin crust cooked slightly crispy. That's all I need. I'll eat and enjoy pizzas with toppings, but what I really NEED is a simple well prepared plain pie, and this place usually gets it right. Ciao is run by a very friendly owner who reminds me of all the other truly "Italian" pizza joint owners I've met around the world. Whether its in Australia, New Zealand, here, or Italy, all these places feel the same. A comfortable nonchalant place with Italian Soccer paraphernalia on the walls, very reasonably priced pies, and great service. Also, Ciao has great outdoor seating if the weather is right. Definitely the best bet for pizza in the City of Wilmington.

This place is yummy. It's in a good location and it's great to buy a slice for lunch.

This place reminds me of a pizza joint in Trastevere, in Rome, that had lines out the door with locals. I personally think this is an authentic Napoli pizza and I haven't seen this in very many places, including New York.I've only had the cheese, can't speak to any other pies. But these are very thin crust, which we love and prefer. If you are used to doughy crusts, you won't like this place. super kid friendly, perfect for days when food is the last thing on your mind, but you need to feed the fam.

I feel they must be resting on some old laurels no one remembers they had. That or people who grow up and never leave Delaware don't understand what real pizza should be. Quite a few locals suggested trying it. After 3 tries, I don't think I'll be going back. The pizza is sub-par, and attempting to get worse. I feel they are abusing the great location they have by putting out this inferior product, and I think it's insulting pizza makers and lovers everywhere. Such a disappointment. This is by no means a judgement on the quality of the owners or people as humans, only on their ability to produce a pizza worth paying for, or eating.
(2)Ashleigh D.
I personally love Ciao's. I've been eating here for about 6-7 years now and have never been disappointed. Love their buffalo chicken pizza, nice big chunks of REAL chicken and not that chicken steak crap. Along with their chicken cheesesteaks also real chicken and nice soft rolls. Better than any pizza spots I've found in the area.
(5)Jason A.
Place still sucks was there last nite nothing changed! Maybe the manger will mail me again. And say keep my words to myself. Well your food flat out sucks and hope you close soon!!

"A-Ok" suits Ciao's perfectly. A very cool location in Trolley Square section of Wilmington, DE. I found the staff at Ciao's to be extremely pleasant. From taking my order on the phone to the personal interaction while in the shop, the staff was as friendly as they come. They make a decent pie here. A great blend of cheese and sauce with some fresh pepperoni made this a winner. Ciao's also does a great job of making condiments easily accessible and available. The only challenge here is the parking. Due to the shape of the building which is very cool, the dining are is relatively small.
(3)Todd H.
Excellent thin crust pizza. Not much seating inside and that is why I am rating it 4 stars instead of 5. Pricing was very affordable and their is a good selection of items on the menu. Highly recommended and will be back.
(4)Cameron H.
Out of towner looking for an easy delivery, but this was way better than I anticipated. Pizza was awesome and delivery girl was extremely nice. If you want GREAT pizza at a great price, I would definitely recommend
(5)Andy G.
Best pizza outside of NY/NJ!!! May this place always stay open. We moved south 10 years ago and I still think about this place.
(5)Aimee P.
Simply the best!!!! great pizza, great staff. I would highly recommend this joint to anyone looking for a great pie!!
(5)L B.
I came here for the first time on a whim in search of lunch. I was immediately impressed with how friendly and polite the employees are, and how easily they answered my questions. I settled on the meat lovers calzone ($8) and it was brought hot and fresh to my table. I loved the quality of the dough (not toughie chewy) and the use of real ricotta inside. While eating, I noticed that the emotes frequently greeted customers by name and even knew some of their orders without asking. It made me feel good that they genuinely care about their business. I'll be back!
(5)Greg F.
Again a good experience. If your looking for good pizza definitely want to stop here. The slice(s) and a beer combo are the perfect dinner. One tip: I'd stick to the pizza/calzones/Stromboli. I've had subs and salads there and they are good, but not great. The pizza is great.
(4)brian s.
4 out of 5. Come on people. Delaware needs to up its pizza game. I eat here if I'm drunk. That's it.
(2)Heather L.
I want to just preface this review by saying, I'm so damn addicted to the pizza that I'm not sure if I have had anything else. I'm also reviewing delivery, since I only went in once for pickup. And you know what? It was freaking pleasant going in there, on a Friday, and they were so in tune with their customers that it didn't even feel busy. And when I stepped outside for a cigarette...they brought it out to me. Seriously? Chivalry is not dead. Points for you, Ciao's. So here's my review: If I had known this place was in Trolley before I moved into the Square, I would have moved a month earlier. I love you, Ciao's. Did you get my Valentine's Day card?! My marriage proposal? I'm ready to move in and start a life together, Ciao's! Get their pizza.
(5)Whitney W.
The pizza at Ciao is great (one of the best in the area), I haven't tried much else other besides the salad & desserts which are also very good. There's not much space to eat in & the delivery can be really slow.
(4)Liz H.
Good prices. Great food, glad it's part of Trolley. If they stayed open late they would make a killing when the car closed... Just like college towns do !!
(4)M. W.
If you want "run of the mill", mediocre pizza go to Ciao. Otherwise, there is NOTHING what-so-ever special about this place. In fact, the crust of their pizza tastes like cardboard. Sorry, but that's my humble opinion. They may have tons of choices of pizza, but it all tastes the same. Very disappointing.
(1)Lauren H.
As a person who isn't really a fan of pizza (yeah, I said it), Ciao's actually makes me enjoy eating pizza. Their crust is SO good; the perfect balance of chewy, yet light and crispy. Love their white pizza with fresh tomatoes and broccoli. Their other, non-pizza food is really good too, particularly the Greek salad. Service is friendly and fast. Stop by after 9:00pm for some $1.00 slices (if they have any left). So glad Ciao's is in my neighborhood.
(4)Celeste M.
Great pizza. I ordered for an office event and they were great with helping me decide the right amount of pizza, salad and drinks. Delivery was on-time, pizza was hot, salad was cold and tongs/dressing were even provided on the side, along with plates and forks. Totally no-hassle experience - Ciao will be my go-to for the next event!
(4)A H.
My family has dined in and taken out several times. We are never disappointed. Just wish they delivered to a larger area!
(4)Maury C.
Great food and better service. Buffalo chicken fingers are incredible. Delivery is fast and the drivers are really nice.

An Italian place, of sorts. Most Trolleyers are tired of their pizza, so they go to Grottos or someplace nearby in Little Italy, but Mr. V likes their pizzas, and so do I. I've branched out a little bit more than he has. It's on the corner, almost like the famous Flatiron building in Chicago, though not nearly as cool. Walking distance, which helps when you're carrying a hot pie home - not a girl from the bar, mind you. Dirty minds. Or just mine, but nevermind that. I've tried, and really loved, their side of meatballs, and their Italian hoagie sandwich. Mr. V orders a Canadian bacon and pineapple pizza with extra cheese, large. It smells good, it looks good, it looks like a greasy pizza that you should be eating on Sundays, or long days after work, or just when-the-eff-ever, because yum. I love their crust, and find myself eating all of Mr. V's. A tid bit about him and his crusts - he won't eat them because they fill him up, and he wants to eat the "good stuff" first. And their ham is sliced ham, not cubed - to which Mr. V feels that "cubed" is cheaper. Psychological, but nonetheless yummy. I've also had their mozzarella and pepper salad, which is simple, probably not something I may order again, but their mozzarella is pretty good. It's fresh, you get hunks, and a little heavy. Not creamy, melt in your mouth, but I find that I don't really want that from my fast(er) pizza joint. Do you? Everything is supposed to melt anyway from the heat. And probably the best part about it is what Mr. V has to say: it's good for the money, they have good ingredients, they don't skim on toppings, and something he really liked: They barely have turnover, if any at all, which means his pizzas are always well handled and they know his order. Mr. V has a memorable presence. They also are willing to accommodate requests, and not hassle you about it - which is something Café Verde is not willing to do. WIN.

The place to get pizza in Wilmington! Buffalo Chicken pizza is great.
(5)Celeste A.
Great pizza and subs! They have a very large delivery area. Pizza -Crunch and doughy crust at the same time! Sauce is good not sweet or has too much oregano. Tons of choices or build your own. Subs are good hot or cold. Try their entrees they are good too!
(4)Julia G.
Inexpensive, good, and fast delivery. The pizza isn't "gourmet," but is good and the dough has a bit of sweetness (tasty and different).
(4)Rachel C.
Delicious manicotti! Spinach, mushroom, white sauce, sausage pizza is AMAZING!! House dressing for salad is really good, too!
(5)Venti G.
I love this place! Their pizza is the best and so are the mozzarella sticks!
(5)Bryan H.
First of all, the pizza is just okay. Good but not great. The real reason they don't get 3 stars is their service. Called for delivery and I was put on hold for several minutes and then got disconnected. Called back and put on hold again. When I finally made my order I was told it would arrive in 30-45 minutes. 1 hr and 15 mins later I called to inquire where my order was. I was put on hold again. I was then told that it was out for delivery but he had a lot of deliveries so it may be awhile. When I didn't get my good it was cold. There were no napkins or forks. Overall the poor service was more than the food could overcome.
(2)Rodge B.
Excellent pizza, but not open late night for when we leave the bar? Boo!
(3)Anita M.
Eh Ciao is OK. Sometimes they have a good variety..Good BBQ Chicken Pizza Staff is really nice though..Although I will say it disappoints me that they wont deliver to my apartment when I live less than a mile away in a decent neighborhood. I've since been ordering from Demaio's (On Market) and am really happy with the switch! They deliver, and I prefer their Pizza (Great Sandwiches too).
(2)Julie D.
Wasn't too impressed. Crust kind of rubbery/soggy and I like nice flavorful crispy crust. Pizzas may have been undercooked. Might try it again but then again.
(3)Nck S.
Pizza tasted like cardboard. The salad was very good though
(2)Steve C.
Top notch new York style pizza can be found here which is very hard to find in Delaware. I moved here from NYC a few years ago and this is one of the only pizzerias that truly reminds me of home. The sauce is excellent and the cheese great! One of only two places I will order my pizza with extra cheese. Stop in and grab a slice, if you do, you will be back.
(5)Brian D.
I ordered pizza and mozzarella sticks for delivery while in a downtown Wilmington hotel. Ordering process was great, the staff was polite and warned me that it would take 45 minutes to get my order. The food arrived in only 30 minutes and the delivery driver was even more pleasant than the guy on the phone. Food was hot, very good and exactly what I wanted. Overall, a great choice.
(4)Jeff T.
Really good pizza and an overall great menu. One of Wilm's best.
(4)Tom J.
Excellent food and service. The pizza is great. Best pizza in Trolley Square. Great outside seating area. Good place to dip in for a steak or a slice while you're out at the local bars. The owner and employees are friendly and helpful. I highly recommend!!
(4)Iain Y.
I love Ciao. I miss Ciao. There was something magical about the combination of perfectly cooked dough, sauce, cheese and one or two basil leaves that made this the best pizza we have ever had (that wasn't in Italy).
(5)Margee M.
I LOVE THIS PLACE! If you are looking for pizza that is a step above, this is it! You can tell from the first bite that it is hand tossed and not a chain place. While it is a little bit more than some pizza places, you get what you pay for. Great cheesesteaks, too! My only kind of complaint is that they should stay open later considering they are in Trolly Square and could probably get some good business after the bars close.
(5)Leah S.
One of those places where if you're a regular, you will reap the benefits by making friends in addition to having great food. Rather than speak about what we typically order (since it's not menu items at all), I'll just say that those menu items I HAVE ordered have been great. The buffalo chicken salad is especially awesome because the chicken isn't fried and they include two of those phenomenal garlic knots. And black olives, yum! But to that, I would suggest asking or mentioning if there's something you're REALLY averse to or allergic to when you order, because things like olives do show up where they usually don't and aren't specified on the menu. They'll change stuff in whatever way you want though. Try ordering a cheese pizza to medium doneness. Delish!
(5)Michele J.
Best pizza in Delaware. Everything is delicious! The staff are very friendly as well. You can't go wrong at Ciao.
(5)Karyn K.
Good pizza. Their chicken cheesesteak and bbq chicken salad are also delicious. Friendly and quick service. It's nice to sit outside once it's warm enough. They used to have fun upstairs seating when I was a kid... not sure if that still exists. This is one of the places I miss since I've moved out of town.
(4)Donnie D.
I really liked this place. Good pizza and friendly Service.
(4)Marisol R.
Excellent!!!!!! I love the pizza here. Can not wait for my next slice of pizza. : )
(5)Ralee M.
This is my go-to place in the Trolley Square area for pizza. I love the thin crust NY style pizza and this is the closest thing you will find to it in Wilmington. Forget Grottos, go to Ciao's.
(4)Fiona M.
Very yummy and cheap! handy place for a slice or two!
(4)Mike M.
Solid local pizza joint offering thin crust NY style pizza. Lots of selection, good prices and fast service. I'm happy I live within walking distance.
