Me and a gal friend moved away from Delaware but were back in town and wanted to try a new and good restaurant for a girls dinner. We had heard great things about 8th & Union and the asian fusion/gastropub menu looked DELISH, so we made a reservation and came in. We started with original cocktails that were flavorful and unique. Next were appetizers for dumplings, calamari, and summer rolls - all great! And the munchie popcorn - addictive seasoning! Dinner was 2 kinds of phó, a burger, and I got the chicken/shrimp pad thai. One girl that got phó was a first-timer and LOVED it! All of our dishes were well prepared and flavorful. The restaurant has outdoor seating which i'm sure is great for social outings. Definitely check out this place - THANK GOODNESS Wilmington has a new unique dining option instead of the same-ole boring stuff. *Plus they have quite a few gluten-free options!!

The place is decent. We may have just gone on an off night. We ordered drinks and food at the bar and the bartender just seemed distracted. We just had some small plates and the food was average. We will give it one more try, but so far they are not doing anything worth driving into town from N Wilmington.

It was my first experience at 8th and union and it was very pleasing! Started the night off with the pork dumplings and snapper ceviche which were both executed very well! Ceviche was VeRY fresh, and had nice heat and citrus flavor which paired nicely. For dinner went with the green curry, which was fantastic. I'm a big fan of curry's and this didn't disappoint, I highly recommend it! The owner, Brian, came over twice during our meal to make sure everything came out as expected, which was a nice touch. I will be back in the future for sure!

Just walking in the amazing smell excited my senses. The bar super hip, and very welcoming staff. When greeted the server brought house filtered sparkling and still to choose from. Love this! I was super excited to hear skate was in the Pho plus on the side Thai basil, cilantro, bean sprouts and peppers. Add as desired. The general Tso chicken was AWESOME!! Braised Game Hen (so tender) with bok choy, pineapple and rice. Every thing was Outstanding!!!

My boyfriend and I went for happy hour on Wednesday. They had a great bar with tons of different draft beers, wines, bottles and cocktails. They had great specials for food and drinks. The food was outstanding and the atmosphere was great! It was causal, cozy and enjoyable. I would recommend to everyone. They have parking too which is rare for Wilmington. Great servers/bartender too!

I sampled the new menu with my wife this evening and was extremely satisfied. The same high quality, bright flavored Asian influenced dishes are served within a very unique establishment. I enjoy the atmosphere as much as the cuisine .

Went here on a Thurs. night. Oysters @ $1.00 were very good. I also had the cauliflower burger. It was terrible. The cauliflower was almost raw and hard to chew. My friend, who loves green veggies couldn't find anything he liked on the menu so he shared my food. Interior of the restaurant was dark & dreary. Service was annoying as the server came to our table every 2 minutes. There were only a handful of guests in the restaurant. Very disappointing and we won't return

Pho was delivered in locally-crafted ceramic bowls with generous fixings. The "fish and chips"-fried catfish, plantain chips, and green papaya salad was very good. There was homemade fish sauce on the table. Nice ambiance and great service.

I don't know about the Asian cuisine, but it's damn hard to beat a half pound burger grilled to your liking with fries for a mere six bucks (Mondays).

Vietnamese inspired food. My girlfriend had the Pho. Really good. One of the items the waiter recommended. Her 2 year old had pork dumplings and the plate was ckean. They have a good kids menu but out little foodie wanted dumplings. I had the cauliflower burger - had to, I mean who has that on the menu? It was so good, I cleaned my plate in a second! Good first start, something different - a good new restaurant for Wilmington.

Nice atmosphere. Weak drinks. What's up with sports TV in a seemingly nice place? Very clean inside. Broth on Mussels was exceptional. Green curry was good, not great. Fries just ok. Picketed veg did not Live up to rave reviews.

I ordered a Pho and it did not taste like traditional Pho at all. The noodle is uncooked and very hard. I don't recommend this restaurant at least its Pho.

Finally, a restaurant in Wilmington that gets it. If the city wants to revamp its food/bar scene they should use the blueprint from this place. We sampled a bit of everything during our visit. Speciality cocktails, the appetizer sampler (pork dumplings are top notch). I had the pork pho (with an egg) and my wife had the shrimp pad tai both were very tasty and fresh. Service was good and the restaurant itself was modern and tastefully decorated. Anyone who has been to a decent restaurant will know this place is a winner the minute they walk in. I'll be a regular at this joint!

This place was really good. Calamari was spicy, but perfectly spicy. My wife and I got the pork banh mi and pad thai - both were delicious. The fries are killer, and I'd definitely get them again. Great drinks too! Loved the smoked manhattan.

Picked up takeout......wow. Asian pickles are to die for, but the pork dumplings and the pad thai had no taste and no sauce on/with them. The pad thai was basically a bunch of noodles, a few shrimp, some slivered snow peas....no taste, no cilantro, no onions, no peanuts....just a soggy mess of nothing. And not cheap.

Cute bar area. 2 big screen TVs. Plenty of beer on tap. Tina tartare & ceviche were okay but not my favorite ever. The Asian pickles were actually a variety of pickled vegetables - carrots, cauliflower, cucumbers, & onions. Very good. My friend had the burger & said it was amazing. Other friend had the brisket pho & loved it.

I think the key here is "Vietnamese-*inspired*". Not actually Vietnamese. Its okay but don't go in with the hope of getting something authentic. The servers were really great, though. Very careful about allergies and very friendly. Probably won't return - it was pricey and the quality of the food just wasn't proportionate to the cost. Not that the food was bad. Just seems like you pay for the ambience more than anything.

We went on a Monday night for the first time and were excited to find that it was burger night. We started out with some beers which were of good selection. We were offered some spicy popcorn to try and it was pretty good. We both ordered burgers. I the 8th Street Burger (medium) and my wife the American (medium well) (minus aioli). Both came out well done. Mine was to have "crispy pork belly" and Asian pickles. The belly was nothing more then a couple small pieces of what amounted to pulled pork and there were no pickles. The wifes was missing the cheese. We sent hers back after she took a bite and realized. Out came a brand new one but now had the aioli on it. We had also ordered about ten minutes before the couple next to us and they had burgers come out at the same time as ours. I am usually forgiving of a miss here and there on a order, but considering your "special" for the night had this many problems....I wonder what regular items would be like. Not sure if we will be back, which is sad because it was a nice change in scenery.

Rare for me to post, but tonight's experience was so disappointing. Hostess was surly, waiter was inexperienced and incompetent. Didn't mention specials, couldn't answer questions about them or the regular menu, didn't mention ice cream, etc when serving dessert menu. Tofu app was great, chicken wings were oversized and disgusting. Who prepares like that? Salmon entree just ok but chicken Pad Thai and fish platter were very good. To add insult to injury, we were seated next to loud table with screaming kids-didn't expect a fast food experience. Seems like this restaurant needs to step up on the training big time. Might retry a year from now.
