Wasn't sure what to expect when we walked in for breakfast on our 1st day of vacation. Smaller tables, lots of decorations (firefighter memorabilia), but this place was awesome. The servers were very friendly. The service was very fast for the place being packed. I order the sausage & gravy over biscuits and it was some of the best I've ever had. My wife had the french toast and was very pleased. I highly recommend this place if you're looking for a great breakfast place. Special note: this place is CASH only.

Me and my dad came in a few months ago for lunch and it was my first time eating there. It was very slow and usually you'd think you could get your food pretty fast. It took 10 minutes for our waitress to even come take our drink orders and 35 minutes to get our food. My food was cold and very rushed. I will never return

This is a very friendly cafe full of locals and above average brunch food. The patriotic fireman decor is a nice compliment to the small town breakfast feel. The homemade muffins and biscuits were standouts. The omelets, pancakes, potatoes and coffee would fit in most diners with a country homemade feel.

4 for breakfast. No visit to the area would be complete without breakfast here. Service always friendly and food always fresh and good. Plus, the emergency responder paraphernalia is worth a look and a tip of the hat. Highly recommended!

Minus one star for being cash only, that said, this is a rock solid diner. Props to the owner for celebrating police and first responders. Standard diner fare, awesome service and reasonable prices. Much better than the tourist traps on the main strip.

In response to ChaCha C......... The restaurant, and its firefighter décor, is a small tribute to the everyday Professionals and Volunteers working in Emergency Public Safety. The owner is a Firefighter and active member of a Maryland Chapter of Red Knights International Firefighters Motorcycle Club whose everyday task is to raise money for less fortunate. The club each year raises hundreds of dollars for the sponsorship of Special Olympics and severally burned children to be able to spend time at a Summer Camp, feed a family at Christmas, renovate an elevator at a handicap housing facility, and most recently, donated to the disaster victims of Hurricane Sandy. And .......with that, I wish to thank the restaurant, its owner, staff, and their on-going dedication in supporting the area residents through various organizations. Maybe while you were there, you should have asked questions, learned about the decor, and/or have expressed your concerns. It's a family restaurant, with good friendly staff, and never advertised as the Ballroom at the Hilton..... so, lighten up and enjoy. Great food, cheap prices, good conversation ! What a great find when visiting Fenwick Beach. The biscuits are super!! I'll make up any excuse to order them. (It would be awesome if they served home made jam and not those little white squares.) The chicken fried steak and eggs with a biscuit...divine. The Chesapeake Benedict is great too, though I don't like their home fries much. They're too small. My sister loved the chipped beef omelet.

Fabulous breakfast! Biscuits are to die for! Three egg omelettes, and even an egg white crab omelette for my more selective son. Fast, friendly service, and the restaurant is homey with lovely tributes to firefighters and police officers. Nice find off the beaten path. Cash only.

Nice surprise for breakfast. Stopped in on our way out of town. We had 3 kids in tow (7, 2, & 5 months) who loved the firefighter decor. Fast service, yummy coffee & food. Pancakes are a little tough but the kids didn't seem to mind and neither did my hubby. All plates were cleaned and we headed home with full bellies. Def recommend this little place

Steak, sushi and wine? Sure, but if you really want my opinion, I absolutely love, love, love a good breakfast and let me tell you, this is one of the best out there hands down. Not just in OC, but in Maryland. Let me break it down for you: The place is decked-out in firefighter paraphernalia which is really cool not only for the kids, but also gives the place a very comfortable feel. When you walk in, not only is it always spotless and cozy but it smells amazing. Everything is baked fresh. If you come in before the rush, there will be a pile of freshly baked biscuits, which I will get to in a minute, and blueberry muffins that just look and smell ridiculous. The waitstaff is always friendly and helpful with even the craziest of requests (chocolate milk that is 3/4 chocolate for example), they never complain or act rude. The food comes out fast and hot! I've never had to wait for a meal. Anyway, down to the good stuff; The menu is diverse yet sticks to the basics but with a little extra built in. For example, their are plenty of omelets to choose from, but they are all three egg omelets. Choose one of the specials or get one made to order. My favorite on the menu is the Countryside Scrambler, which is ham, onions and cheddar and as the name suggests, plenty of scrambled eggs. It's amazing. Most plates come with a choice of home fries or grits and choice of bread. Get the home-fries as they are superb. Now as promised, back to the biscuits; warm, fluffy, tasty, simply do die for. Add a side of the incredibly, tasty and never dried-out sausage and you will be stuffed yet satisfied. The orange juice is fresh and the coffee is always fresh, hot and oh so perfect. I love this place and to top it all off, it is very reasonably priced. One of the owners is usually always on the scene which is always nice to see and keeps the place running like a well oiled machine. Again, get there early because if you come around 10:00am you will be waiting. But the place is so efficient, the wait won't be long and it is well worth it. So enjoy a firefighter's breakfast at the Countryside Cafe. You will not be disappointed! Highly Recommended!

Had a late breakfast here this morning, the cafe was very busy yet the wait was only 15 mins., once we were seated it took at least 5 mins. before anyone came to our table to pour coffee and we were never given menus. I had to find them myself as did other customers. Wait staff seemed overwhelmed, food came out promptly once we were able to order but waitress was never to be found. I ordered the crab omelet, it was very good. All other food we ordered was just average. So to have an average breakfast at this cafe requires a lot of patience.

Anytime we're at the beach, we always have breakfast at the Country Side Cafe. The food is awesome, the service is friendly and prompt and the prices are throw back to the last century. The owners are always there and often sit for coffee and conversation. The waitresses love their job and always get each order perfect. The blueberry muffins are wonderful, but so is everything. What makes the place special is their dedication to the firefighters and police officers in Delaware and Maryland. The momentos are impressive and very fitting for the honors these special public servants deserve. Treat yourself to a great breakfast, a smile and their keep it simple approach (cash only) --- and if you're in a hurry you'll be in and out in 30 minutes tops. Better yet, linger and have a second cup of coffee.

Good place right across from where we stayed. Came on a Thursday morning and was very happy with speed of service. Food was typical breakfast joint and was served very quickly which is great with kids. Only downside was the regular panckaes were a bit rubbery.

The Countryside Cafe in Fenwick Island, Delaware serves merely edible food in an unappealing atmosphere. The white walls, counters, and even the menu are plastered with firefighter and police patches, imagery, and related tchotchkes. The owner made his presence known by speaking to many customers-- we could hear every word he said no matter where he was in the large room. The volume of his voice combined with the sight of his bare feet in sandals also speaks to the ambiance. While we finished our food, it could not be described as good. Our server was pushy and difficult to understand. The coffee was stale, the fruit cup had a sickly syrup over sad specimens, the scrambled eggs were dry, cold & burned. They did not offer real butter or real maple syrup. It appears Countryside Cafe survives upon its gimmick. If you are a first responder fetishist, this is the place for you. Otherwise, steer clear.

Very nice breakfast at great prices. Nice they are open year round, in tax free Delaware. Super fast service. Serving sizes are not gargantuan but plenty. Can't complain about $4.99 for 2 eggs, meat, potatoes and toast! Oh, BTW, location is in the same strip center as Smitty Magees. Map showed it in downton Selbyville.
